Everyone got into groups, ready to start playing their game. Hjørdis finished handing out gelt to everyone, making sure that they all had the right amount. The Slytherin glanced around the room. There were so many small groups of people, happily playing the game. For a second, she contemplated finding some people to play with too. But alas, the ones that she actually liked spending time with did not seem to be there. So she decided to wait, perhaps they would show up soon and she could invite them to play a game with her.

She eyed up the latke in the meantime, wondering if she should eat a bit more even though she had already consumed dinner earlier. The sight of more food was making her a little peckish. It was around about this time that a child suddenly dragged her into playing. She was not sure how or why but she found herself sitting down at a table, with this child sitting opposite her. The child was none other than the Charms Professor, Elaine Seaborne.

Hjørdis had no idea why she was doing this. The list of people she could tolerate was short and Professor Seaborne was a tad too hyperactive to make the cut. As she sat there, trying to get out of it, she spotted a first year Slytherin student that she recognised. A smart fellow from her initial meeting. Definitely more mature than the child in front of her. Giving him the look, she practically summoned him to come save her. "Mr. Weaver, why don't you join us if you don't have a group already?" She asked, pushing a share of the gelt towards him and the spare chair in front of him.

With that, she dished out Elaine's share as well as her own, making sure each had exactly ten coins in each. "I'll start, shall I?" She prompted, hoping that the sooner they started, the sooner this torture would end. With that, she pushed one of her coins into the pot before rolling the driedel.

Chanukkah was, by far, Daniel’s favorite holiday that he celebrated. Coming from a dual-religious household, the eleven year old had always favored the meaning of Chanukkah far more than the meaning of Christmas. It wasn’t really that big of a deal, if he was being honest. So, when the announcement of the Chanukkah festivities were being held, it was really no surprise that Daniel was there to celebrate.

Chanukkah came so early this year; last year, he tried to remember. Sometimes, it fell alongside Christmas, which was nice, although his parents couldn’t decide which holiday to celebrate. Daniel just wanted the food.

Taking a stack of golden and silver coins in a mesh bag - a delicacy of sweets that Daniel actually liked, he was watching other people play the game of Dreidel. He wanted to join a game, but all these people were annoying. He just wanted someone he could play with. He heard his name being called, and his head turned. There was his Head of House, Professor Jensen. Alongside her, the Charms Professor. Daniel liked Charms, although he hadn’t had much time to interact with the teacher outside of class. At the invitation - which sort of baffled the first year, as he didn’t expect a professor or head of house to invite him to play - he nodded his head.

He felt slightly awkward sitting with both the professor and his head of house, and he opened his own, not-related bag of gelt. He peeled the wrapping off the piece of chocolate and took a bite from it, and rose an eyebrow as Professor Jensen rolled the Dreidel. Wait, what? He blinked slowly before a little set of giggles escaped him. He covered his mouth. It was probably the first time either Professor had ever heard Daniel be amused, considering his rather… sulky nature. He shook his head at his amusement. He tossed in one piece of gelt from his own hand and reached for the dreidel, “You might have better luck, Professor, if you spin the Dreidel… and not roll it like a dice.” he giggled, giving Professor Jensen a toothy smile.

If anything, it showed his amusement, and wasn’t in bad judgment at all. If anything, it was clear that Daniel was teasing the Head of Slytherin.
- Eating one of his gelt not from the game
- Lots of giggles at watching Professor Jensen roll the dreidel
- put one in after Prof. Jensen’s turn ended
- spins the Dreidel
