TRICK! or treat, I guess
Why had he signed up for this stupid event? It seemed he was questioning why he was doing things a lot, lately. Which worried him a little bit. He was far too young to be going senile, wasn’t he? But signing up for this was, regretfully, something he had done. And now he had to pay the price. By walking a bunch of little kids through a series of riddles and puzzles and stuff he had set up for them. This was going to be annoying. He had just woken up, and his mind was still hazy, and he didn’t want anything to do with anything.
And then it hit him like a ton of bricks. He finally remembered why he signed up for the event, and his day suddenly got a whole lot brighter. He silently hoped that annoying kid from that one place was going to be in his group. It would be incredibly amusing to see them cope with his challenges in exchange for some random sweets. More likely than not they would all just give up, and he could go home. Well, go to his stables anyway.
He was waiting in the great hall for his group, wearing his heavy, long leather jacket and wondering what was taking them so long, before realizing he was early, and they weren’t even supposed to arrive for another couple minutes or so. Oktoberfest was a stupid idea, with a few fun perks. Scaring kids who just wanted some candy? Well, that was a pretty big perk. Teaching kids how to make cookies, however, was absolutely stupid.
“Great, here’s how this works. I give you a clue, you follow the clue, you find a ghost say trick or treat in your stupid costumes and then the ghost gives you candy because this is the closest thing to a social life they have, the lucky bastards. I’ll be with you because you lot are so stupid you’ll probably get lost on the way to the bathrooms.
My name is Professor Griffith, and I teach Care of Magical Creatures. Welcome to Oktoberween, or whatever they’re calling it.”
He then hands the group a piece of paper with the riddle on it.

After everyone gets here, and please RP showing up at about the same time for convenience. You can post as often as you like here, you do not need to wait for me to post, however only one post is actually required. Look at the puzzle, then talk among yourselves, either via owl or DMing on Discord, then tell me what area you think the ghost is in and I'll make a thread there. I will not tell you if you got it right or wrong. There might be other fun challenges later, which I'll explain as they arise. Have a good time!!

“A or B, a hopeless plight
And so to me, students take flight
For hours over things to pore
That make no sense, and are a bore
A place for misery, those lacking drive
Unless in libraries you usually thrive”
“If this is a complaint would you mind sending it with an owl? It's easier to ignore."

Eri hadn't exactly dressed up for Halloween. She was wearing a black leather jacket and a white shirt under neath, some ripped jeans, black sneakers, and a backwards cap on her head. This was all she had to dress up in and if anyone asked she was dressed up as someone from the 90's.
The brunette listened to the teacher talk. Did he expect the second years to get lost too? She knew her way around the classroom pretty well so it would be hard for her to get lost.
"Professor Griffith? It's October fest and I don't think the second years will get lost. We aren't that dumb." She said back to the professor. She couldn't exactly get in trouble for talking back, but she probably could. Anyways she didn't exactly like him, but she wasn't going to like everybody.
He gave the letter to the group and the read the riddle. She didn't know what it meant, but maybe it was the quidditch pitch? But she wasn't going to voice that as of right now. Maybe she would let the other guess and will see if they are right or wrong. Maybe if they are wrong she could say her answer.

With her tongue slightly pressed into her inner cheek she finished the last touch of her hair. The past minutes she had tried to braid it, which almost was an impossible task given the short length of her hair. Still she had managed to produce a few small braids adjourned with some bones and leaves. The bones were borrowed from her potions set, rat bones she believed. The leaves were from her own stock of plants, she had enough to choose from after all.
Satisfied she watched herself in the small mirror. The raw leather tunic was hanging loosely from her undefined body, but the big belt gave her at least somewhat of a waist. She was showing first signs of becoming a woman, but nothing was visible underneath the tunic and the brightly colored scarf that she had wrapped around herself. It was supposed to only cover her upper body and then turn into skirt, but the scarf had been too long for her short height, which is why she had to wind it round herself a few times in order to avoid stepping on it. She almost looked like a bonbon candy.
Her look of a fierce Celt was completed by some dark boots that were covered in mud and by some simple wristband that rattled whenever she moved her hand. They were her own clothes, her mum only had sent the scarf and a leather tunic.
As she was looking at herself she decided that there still was something missing. With her hand she reached into one of her freshly watered pots standing on the ground besides her bed and took some soil. Without hesitation she rubbed her hands together and painted with all her fingers quick strokes on her face. "Now I'm done."
She didn't bother to wash her hands and simply brushed them against her clothes. The black dirt underneath her nails didn't bother her, it was normal for her anyway.
Now fully disguised as a Celt she left the Dorm and Common Room to meet with the others upstairs. It felt good to wear other clothes, especially a costume like the one she had. Marcia was walking differently and with more vigor. Her wand was tucked inside the lashes of the scarf, but she wished she her mum would have sent a nice sword as well. A nifty tool like that would have made a warrior out of her.
All the way up she was grinning from war to ear. She always had wanted to go trick and treating, but the kids never did that where she was living, so naturally Marcia never did it either. He mum had never heard of it till now, when Marcia had asked her for a costume in one of her letters.
Marcia was excited to finally get a chance to wear a costume, walk around and ask for candies! She would do that with others in a group, she was told, but so far she didn't know with whom she would have the pleasure.
Her first surprise was to see who their leader was: the new professor for Care. He was only wearing a simple leather coat and didn't seem to be in the spirit of Halloween. Marcia greeted him with a small nod and waited till he started to speak.
She listened to what he had to say and chuckled in the end. She couldn't say if it was the adrenaline in her veins or the costume that gave her the guts to speak up, giving her more confidence, after he had finished. "We get lost? Excuse me, Professor Griffith, but last time I checked you arrived only a few weeks ago while we are living her for over a year, but thank you for your concern." With her hands tucked away behind her scarf she smiled honestly at the professor. This was going to be so much fun, she couldn't wait to start.

TRICK! or treat, I guess
Edric had never done this Trick or Treat before. It wasn't something wizarding familes did, or at least he'd never heard anyone talk about it until now. It was a muggle tradition, not exactly a holiday from what Adair had explained to him, but still a day of celebration - it was sure a weird way to spend the spirit night. No fires, no Black Sow, to honoring the dead. Instead people were wearing costumes and children went begging for sweets.
Still Edric was happy that this year they upheld the muggle tradition, as it had brought him closer to his eldest brother. Harry had turned into a right ass this year, but that also meant that his brothers spend less time together. Adair had actually asked him if he needed help with finding a costume!
He hadn't even known that he was supposed to have one, so having his older brother around to help him had been great. As a Sixth Year Adair knew a lot of spells Edric didn't, and he'd taken some time off from his studies to lend his youngest brother a hand in getting ready. They'd even joked around a bit and Edrci felt... good. Really good.
He pulled the hood of his robe over his head when he neared the meeting point for their group. The garment was of a greyish-white color and Adair had charmed it to give off thin smoke of the same color, a line of mist trailing in Edric's wake. He carried the lantern in front of himself, the magical light within casting eery shadows against the walls of the corridor.
Apparently Edric was a bit late, as he arrived just in time to see the Professor - one of the new ones, but he didn't know which one because he'd never had class with him - handing a sheet of paper two the two people in attendance. One was a girl he didn't kmow in strange clothes, the other was...
"Hey, Marcia," he greeted her happily before remembering to addresss the Professor. "Hello, Professor." He turned and nodded at the other student before facing his friend again. "What are you, a kind of warrior?"
To be honest Edric had no idea what Marcia's costume was supposed to be, but the markings on her cheeks looked like marks from the warriors of the old tales. It looked good on her, even though Edric didn't know the story behind what she was wearing.
His own face was ghostly white, curtesy of a Seventh Year girl who'd seen him come into the Common Room and decided that some makeup would make him look a lot more ghostly. Her friends had agreed and he really hadn't been brave enough to say no to them, so now the only of color on him were his hazel eyes. Otherwise Edric was a pefecct Hinkypunk - at least he thought so.

TRICK! or treat, I guess
Alan appeared in the Great Hall just mere seconds after Marcia and Edric; he never actually talked with Edric and he knew that Marcia might be annoyed by him. She was nice but he would be annoyed at himself if he had been run over and tripped over while reading. The young Gryffindor gently shook his head as soft gasps of air escaped his lips, when he came to a halt. Running wasn't appreciated in the hallways but being late woud have probably been worse , or so he hoped.
Seing Professor Griffith standing there nearly made him laugh and shake at the same time. That Professor with his look and behaviour made a very scary impression, he wouldn't want him as his enemy. At the same time it seemed actually funny and amusing how he was. Grumpy.. no wonder he got called Professor Moffy in secret, at least by some... or at least by Alan.
He carefully waved the small gathered up group and gave the Professor a more or less respectful and maybe; just maybe, slightly intimidated nod. He then rlooked over at the paper they had been handed by the professor and looked down at the riddle. Just a glance befire he sighed.
His robes were billowing around him, hiding his face and body nearly completely. They were enchanted to make them appear to be constantly caressed by the wind, in shades of dark grey and upon lack of light pitch black. The hood was pulled over his face, making his usually blue eyes peak out. However he was wearing contacts, coloured to make his eyes the colour of a milky white/pale blue. His mouth and nose- or rather the lower half of his face was being masked by a soft black fabric. His clothes were black and hugging his body so that the main view was on the robes and general appearance. The sneakers he was wearing had a small skull stitched to the sides of them, not looking creeepy in the slightest but at least belonging to the Halloween setting.

The girl watched as a few more people showed up. None of these people did she know. "Great new people." Eri thought to herself. She didn't like the thought of working with new people, but what choice did she have? Sighing she smiled and decided to introduce herself. "Hi, I'm Eri Windstone." She hoped nobody recognized the name as the surname of two famous daily prophet journalists. She didn't like talking about her parents.
Eri didn't have any idea of what the riddle meant, but she would think about it. She had one idea, but wasn't entirely sure if would be correct or not. "I have one idea about what the answer could be. Maybe the quidditch pitch?" Eri simply stated. She didn't excel at riddles, but she was going to try to at least help. Not many people had shown up to this event.
The brunette wiped a peice of her multi colored hair out of her face and waited for the others to speak up because Eri was not going to solve this riddle by herself and hopefully she wouldn't need to because Shen hoped the others were good at riddles. Or at least better than she was.
