Good Mood Don't Fail Me Now
Odette was in a good mood. She wasn't completely sure why though. She had gotten ready for the day with little amount of clumsiness, only tripping twice (which was rare for her). She had met a few new people in the past couple days and was kind of eager to meet more. Although she was often shy and nervous around new people, she did like the idea of being close to someone. To have a best friend like everyone else seemed to have.
She skipped out of her room, smiling the whole time-- another rare for her-- if her cousin, Aravis, saw her now she would probably think that she hit her head a little too hard. She walked into the Great Hall and saw other students sitting in other places so she sat at a table away from others that was near a window. Grabbing her notebook and setting it on the table, she began writing down song ideas. Humming to herself and biting the tip of her pen, she waits for inspiration to hit her.
Odette looks around and sees all of the other students talking and getting along. She wanted that. She wanted one person who she could tell anything. That one person she could trust, whether it be a girl or boy. With that, she smiles and begins writing down her idea. She was too involved in her song writing to notice someone walking towards her.

Good Mood Don't Fail Me Now
Grrrrrrrrglllll Charles stopped and placed his hand on his stomach. Uh oh, the pit has spoken. It demands a sacrifice. The boy walked at a faster pace, following the scents that drifted promisingly to his nose. Students were already headed to the Great Hall for breakfast but a small golden dart could be seen weaving through the slow moving mass of students. After the boy had passed most of the mass, Charles slowed down to a walk. The pictures on the walls were beginning to stir, and those that were already awake, talked across the frames or watched the students pass by with a smile on their face, as if they remembered a time when they attended this very school.
Although, Charles had to admit, the novelty of the place was beginning to dissipate a bit, but hopefully soon that will be replaced with the feeling of home. So far the boy had made a few acquaintances, a few of his housemates, some classmates, but nothing incredibly strong. Charles thought that it might have something to do with a bit of homesickness, maybe he was scared that if he made a good, maybe even best, friend then he would forget about his sister. The boy shook the thought away and walked through the doors of the Great Hall.
Students filed into the hall around the boy, who stood and scanned the cavernous Hall. Okay, it's time to make a friend. Not an acquaintance, but a real friend. Someone to go explore the castle with and to play whatever Gobstones is! I have to choose well, friends are important after all! The young wizard looked over at the Hufflepuff table but quickly decided that if he was going to make a friend that he should try someone from a different house. However, Charles had been standing there for a second too long as the mass of students he passed began to push him towards the Ravenclaw table. Ravenclaw it is then!
Charles scanned over the table as quickly as possible. Her. She wasn't talking to anyone, so he could avoid the awkwardness of interrupting a conversation, and she was writing in a notebook, which was something they could talk about. Charles put on a bright smile and walked over towards her.
"Hiya!" Charles beamed. “My name is Charlie, I was wondering if I could sit with you.”

Odette was still trying to come up with the right lyrics. Writing songs was kind of her way of expressing herself. She wasn't really shy, she just didn't know how to talk to people. Being bullied in her old school made her kind of introverted and she tended to just stick to herself in fear of being herself with someone else. But she wanted to make at least one close friend she could depend on.
Pulling a piece of her hair and putting it behind her ear, she was too distracted to notice someone walking to her. "Hiya!" Odette jumped and looked up to see a young boy her age in front of her. “My name is Charlie, I was wondering if I could sit with you.”
Eyes wide, she nodded. 'Stop being so awkward, Odette. He's going to think you're weird.' "U-um, yeah sure! My name is Odette, Odette Haven," she says quietly and gives him a small smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you standing there. I kind of get lost in my head a lot." She puts the hair that fell back in her face behind her ear again and scoots over for the young boy to take a seat.

The air was filled with the buzz of conversation and the clamor of dishes and goblets that clinked and clanked together. The boy beamed a crooked grin at Odette when she had jumped. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you!" He took the seat next to hers and filled up his plate with steaming hot food. All the vegetables you could dream of, every type of meat, sandwiches, pastas, salads, starches and gravies. The sweets. The sweets were the best part in Charles' opinion. When he entered the wizarding world he didn't know what he was getting into, all of the sweets magic had to offer. Charles let out a pleasant sigh as his eyes gazed across the mountains of food: sweet, salty, savory, sour, and bitter. Charles looked at Odette, “I love magic,” and dug into his food.
Charles came up from his plate for air and looked at Odette with bits of food smeared around his mouth, “I like your name. I think it's really pretty!” then went back to shoveling food into his face. As Odette apologized for being jumpy Charles began shaking his head as he swallowed his food. “You don't have to be sorry, I get lost in my head too. And in the castle and sometimes places that I'm already familiar with, but that's okay just because we get lost doesn't mean it's a bad thing right?” The boy took another bite of mashed potatoes and smiled. “The food here is absolutely lovely. I can't seem to eat enough of it! Do you have a favorite food?”

The young boy gazed at the mountain of foods then looked at Odette and said, “I love magic,” and began to eat his food.
When the Charles looked up from his food he said, “I like your name. I think it's really pretty!” Odette grinned and replied, "thank you! I like yours too!" She often didn't like her name because it was so unique but maybe that was a good thing.

And in the castle and sometimes places that I'm already familiar with, but that's okay just because we get lost doesn't mean it's a bad thing right?” Odette gave him another smile and said, "right." She wasn't always talkative but she really enjoyed the company.
When Charles asked her about her favourite food, Odette told him, "I think I have too many favourites. I love pizza. Oh! And I really love Italian ice!"
Odette bit her lip and looked up as if in thought. She wasn't sure what other foods she liked. Her adopted mom didn't let her eat a lot of junk foods so her other favourites were mostly things like tomatoes, strawberries and other fruits. "What about you?" She asked the young Hufflepuff curiously.

Good Mood Don't Fail Me Now
Charles enjoyed every bit of food he ingested. His mother constantly told people that she didn't know where he put so much food on account of how thin Charles was. Another bite of mashed potato went into the boy's mouth and he turned back to his new friend. “Thanks! I always thought my name was a bit dull. Charles,” He let the 'a' sound linger on more than usual by putting a posh accent on it to make it sound even more unappealing. “My name is Chaarles and my papa owns a lake house,” the boy said imitating the same stereotypical “upper-class accent”. He giggled a bit after he did, Charles, of course, didn't mean any harm, he was just having a bit of fun with it, it was always a good thing to get someone to laugh when you first meet them.
Although the girl wasn't talkative right away, Charles suspected that she did have a lot to say. Just like his friend Marco, Odette might be a little shy of new people. The boy had a bit of experience with someone that was on the quiet side, especially since Marco only had a basic understanding of English but that only made Charles' ability to listen carefully grow.
The Hufflepuff smiled when she agreed with him, it was a good sign. They just became a bit closer and Charles was ecstatic, he could feel his nervous energy sending little jolts through his body but he kept calm, he didn't want to frighten her too much with his bounding energy as the boy did countless times when meeting new people. It wasn't his fault, he just got so excited by making new friends, whether they were people, animals, or even plants!
Friendship was important in Charles' life and he wanted people to be able to trust him with anything, to come to him when they needed help. The Ravenclaw that sat next to him seemed to have more to say, but she held it in. “Well, I like anything that's put in front of me!” He exclaimed, “but it seemed like you had some other foods on your mind as well, I know I'm always thinking about food, but do you have any other favorites as well?”

Odette giggled at the young boy's attempt of the upper class accent. “My name is Chaarles and my papa owns a lake house,” Charles said and Odette laughed harder. She couldn't keep the big grin off of her face. "My name is Odette and every morning we drink a cuppa tea," she says with a posh accent as well and laughs. She gives Charles a big smile and bites her lip, looking down.
She can't remember a time where she's laughed so much. She wasn't necessarily shy like some people thought. She liked to think of it as being wary of people. She didn't trust others very easily but she wanted to. She wanted to have someone to be close to.
“Well, I like anything that's put in front of me!” Charles said, answering Odette's earlier question. “But it seemed like you had some other foods on your mind as well, I know I'm always thinking about food, but do you have any other favorites as well?”
"Well..." The young Ravenclaw girl puts the hair that was hanging in her face behind her ear and looks back up at Charles. "I really like fruit. Mangos, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries. Pretty much everything. I'm not very picky when it comes to food unless it's like onions or something." The young girl scrunches her nose up when remembering when she was forced to eat onions.
