Wren was bored. She wanted to do something. She had been stuck in her head all day, walking around talking to herself, reading her books on the common room window ledge, taking a walk outside to drink in the fresh air of the beautiful spring day. None of her friends had been available to do anything, so she decided she would go into the Great Hall and sneak a peek at anything that could potentially be going on. There usually was on days like this but she wasn’t sure.
Sure enough, walking into the great hall there was. She looked around and saw the other students making origami. She had never been really good at that, but she would try again today. She walked into the great hall walked over to the table with the origami paper stacks, grabbed some blue, red and green paper, walked over to a secluded section of a table, sat down and started to fold. Once again today she was left with her own devices, to her own mind. She didn’t spot anyone she knew except Evelynn Decipio and she really had no desire to go over there and strike up a conversation with the girl that had so insulted her at their last encounter. She was still nursing her hurt pride. Even though she had tried to apologize, she didn’t think that was ever going to help. Evelynn was a lost cause.
Shaking her head to clear her uncanny thoughts, she began to fold the blue paper she had picked up into a raven, according to the instructions. It had started to actually turn out. It became an actual raven and not just some crumpled up piece of paper. She was proud. For once her work had not been idle and had actually produced some results that she liked. She then picked up the green paper and began to fold.

Origami and Friends

Anastasia had never heard of origami before. Possibly because she had always zoned out whenever one of her art tutors had begun speaking. The former perfect was a girl of practically endless talent, at least in her own opinion. However, even she had to admit that she had absolutely zero artistic talent whatsoever. The brunette was a brilliant student, a master of four languages, a skilled dancer, and a good musician. One thing she wasn't was an artist. It didn't matter if it was painting, sketching, pottery, whatever. If it was remotely artistic, Ana couldn't do it. Period. End of story. It had irritated her to no end when she was younger, but at this point, she had resolved herself to not having a career as an artist and moved on with her life. It was possibly the only time in her life she had accepted a failure. It was really just because she didn't see much use for it. People who were skilled artists were more than welcome to practice their craft, but Ana failed to see a point in forcing the majority of people who weren't to produce art. It seemed stupid to her.
So, why on Earth was she doing origami that day? Simple, bribery. Anastasia was nothing if not coin operated. Sure, she had more than enough spending money from her parents, but they typically liked to know what she bought with that, which was irritating. She had bought an invisibility cloak last time she'd been at that Weasley store, which had been the majority of her spending money for her time at school. She would never have to worry about being caught for any of her antics again. Anastasia wasn't a mischievous person, at least she didn't consider herself one. She just had an utter and complete disregard for rules when they happened not to suit her. Rules were generally a good starting point, but really, if a rule was the only thing stopping her from doing something that she wanted like setting some annoying person on fire, then she was going to ignore it. However, she did recognize that if she was caught breaking the rules, that could mean detention as well as teachers thinking less of her. She refused to let either of those things happen. That meant that she'd been careful with her rule breaking and covered her tracks. That cloak would be a game changer though.
She'd heard that in addition to house points for this errand, students could get sickles, and so, seeing as she currently only had around 50 galleons for the rest of the school year, had jumped at the opportunity to make a little bit more money. Having grown up in the family she had, she knew that money was what made the world go round. Well, that and the force of gravity due to the Sun, but mostly money.
Entering the Great Hall, she scanned the room and grinned when her eyes laid upon one Wren Caster. She made a beeline for the fellow Gryffindor once she had selected a few sheets of paper. She had decided on a unicorn, when she saw a handful of paper dragons flying around and shooting tiny flames from their paper faces. Forget unicorns, she was clearly making a dragon.
Sitting beside the younger girl, she grinned. "Have you done this before, love?" she asked as she began to follow the instructions for her dragon. She wondered how on earth something like origami had been thought up. Further more, she wondered how people had discovered that folding paper this exact way made a dragon. No matter, she could fold paper and follow instructions, so how hard could this be?
Very hard was the answer. After several failed attempts, the girl was surrounding in crumpled bits of paper that had dreamed of becoming dragons. Still, Ana was never one to back down from a challenge (even when she really ought to), so she was going to make a dragon. She didn't care what it took. Seeing as Draconifors was not something that was in the Transfiguation syllabus, this was going to be one of her few opportunities to make a dragon on her own.
Finally, she had something that somewhat resembled the instructions. Its head was far too large for its body, and its wings were far too small, but she was going to take it. Approaching one of the house elves, she requested the temporary enchantment that she'd seen on her fellow students. The poor creature had to flap its wings hard and quickly, rather like a humming bird, but it managed to achieve some shaky form of flight. Once it was in the air, it attempt to breath flames, and was shot backwards by the force. Ana let out a delighted squeal and followed her poor creation as it tried to adjust to its terribly disproportionate body.
