As Alexis entered the Great hall, she was practically bouncing with excitement. She walked with a long stride, a small smile plastered on her face and her head held high. To say, today was a good day, would be an understatement. Everything went according to how she had planned them and on top of that, she heard that there was a craft activity in the Great hall, Origami, if you want to be specific.

Alexis didn’t know exactly what an origami was, apparently it was a muggle’s thing where they took a thin piece of colourful paper and fold them into all sort of thing, mostly animals. Upon her arrival, her blue eyes landed on multiple stacks of square paper scattered along the long dining table and there were also other decorations such as drawing supplies for whom who wished to add some extra touch to their handiwork. She stepped towards the table and examined the materials. She picked up the instructions card for the animal she had chosen, a dragon. A magical creature she was fascinated with. Then she reached for a paper, darkest shade of blue she could find.

Alexis found an empty area at the Ravenclaw table and she settled down. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail with a hair band and a blue ribbon, ready to get to work. The hall was mostly quiet and she noticed some other students are making the origami as well, some was working in a group and some was working alone like her. She read the instructions first, she did not think it was complicated,not for her anyway. Oh what a foolish idea she had. She had never done any origami before but she has her fair share of experience with handcrafted stuff, she was confident that she would success.

She folded the paper four times, two horizontally, two across the corners of the paper and she continued to followed the instructions. She suddenly stopped, looking at the tutorial in confusion. She took it back, it was complicated. “Blimey, why couldn’t I just chosen the less complicated ones?” she murmured to herself before giving the instructions a once over, checking for any mistakes. Thankfully there were none. Yet.

She pushed the small strain of hair out of her face before continued with the paper. She held it up, now it looked like a canoe boat from the bird eye view. “How in the name of Merlin is this going to turn into a dragon is beyond me.” She murmured frustratedly as she didn’t get it on the first try, even if she didn’t make any mistake yet it still annoyed her that this is taking her longer than she hoped. She hates not being perfect at everything. This is taking too long, but who knows how long exactly has it been? Patience is never her strongest trait.

Now she was pouting and biting her lip, Alexis realized quickly that she must looking like a child who was ready to throw a tantrum. The thought made her cringed, internally. She shut her eyes and took a few long deep breaths, opening them again with a neutral face. She adjust her posture and her hair, looking calm and collected again. She refocus her gaze back to the abandoned and unfinished piece of paper in front of her, she reached for the instructions once more. She has decided that she was going to finish what she had started. Asterion don’t back away from challenges. Not now. Not ever.

With her newfound determination, she proceeded to fold the paper until it started to look more like a dragon. Now I’m back on track again. She let the corner of her mouth curved up a little as she examined the origami. It’s not finished, but it’s something. She straightened her back a little, wondering how long has she been sitting here already. Then she went back to folding paper once more.

After god knows how long has passed, her origami now has, what she assumed was fang, a pair of hands and a unfinished pair of wings. She picked up in her eyes level and compared it to the given instructions. Alright, I’m seeing it now. She closed her eyes momentarily, this is tiring her out. She could felt that her eyes were a little bit sore after her continuously stare at the paper, after she finished she definitely going to drink some tea and do something that doesn’t require the use of her eyes for awhile.

She folded the dragon wings and folded the horns or ears, she wasn’t sure anymore. Alexis took the finished origami dragon in her hand and held it up into the the air, directly to the light and examined it carefully. She compared it to the instructed picture once more and nodded in satisfaction. She allowed a smile to spread across her lips and let the pride to wash over her. “Mission accomplished” She whispered quietly as a form of congratulation to herself.

Alexis took her origami in her hand delicately, fearing she would ruin it. She got up from her seat and look for a house elf to ask if they could help her temporarily enchant her paper dragon, lucky for her they agreed. Now she was sitting at the same seat as before, watching the tiny origami dragon walking around and occasionally breathe a tiny bit of fire into the air. All this said and done, it was worth it.
