The Great Hall. Ruthie had heard many stories about the Great Hall from her mother. It seemed like Claire had done just about everything you could do in the Great Hall, except meet her future husband. But this wasn't Claire. This was about her daughter, Ruth: a bright, independent girl who had spent most of the boat ride over to the castle in awe of a staff member she suspected of being a Quidditch player. Needless to say, the boat ride had already set the bar high for her time to be spent at the legendary school.

Soon the first years were shuffled all together into the Great Hall, a room whose reputation preceeded it. As she walked down the corridor, the young Scottish girl admired the grand fireplaces and high beams, but most breathtaking of all was the ceiling, enchanted to look like the night sky. Hogwarts already seemed vast, this only made it more so, and her person felt smaller and smaller. To her right and to her left were her peers, the elder students who'd already been through this entire process before. She tried to pay attention, see which house seemed the friendliest, the most like her, but in the seconds it took to cross the aisle, they all seemed the same.

At the front of the line, they were greeted by an older gentleman, complete with a long beard. He introduced himself as Headmaster, the highest and most renown position in the school, but to Ruthie he just seemed like anyone else. The population in her small shoreline village skewed older and many of the men sported facial hair--though perhaps not armored like so.

For the benefit of the group, Headmaster Lear had brought out a hat and explained what was about to happen. And so, with a song from the hat itself, the ceremony began. None of this really shocked or surprised Ruthie, who had been briefed on what was to come by her moth. She called how excited her mother at the prospect that her eldest daughter would be following in her footsteps. Her father, Ross, on the other hand couldn't quite relate, but he was quite proud anyway.

Back in the hall, the students were called one by one and asked to come forth, where the sorting hat would be placed upon their head. The hall was eerily quiet as those the elder students and faculty were eager to see where the new students might be placed. As the students came up, the hat placed them in their different houses, calling them out in what might seem a random fashion where it not for its clear sentient qualities.

Where some children might have been nervous, Ruthie was tapping her foot when she heard her name: "Ruth Greer!" Carefully, she stepped out of the line and up onto the dais, where she sat on the simple stool. From here she could look out onto the hall and admire how vast it was, even more so than when she had come in. In front of her, she tried to scan the crowd of her peers for someone she knew from the boat ride, but all the faces seemed to blur. In a heartbeat, she felt the hat's rim grip her head. "Ah, you remind me of someone," the hat began. Ruthie knew it was her mother, a bright Ravenclaw with a certain talent for herbology all those years ago. But Ruthie knew better than to interrupt and so she let the hat carry one: "Let's see then, a fiercely independent mind and a creative spirit when it comes to problem-solving...better be...RAVENCLAW!"

Letting out a happy sigh, the newly minted Ravenclaw jumped off the stool looked towards the Ravenclaw table. Between the clapping, she eagerly followed after the last Ravenclaw who'd been sorted, a young boy with dark hair, and sat at the table, excited to get to know her peers.

Emerly tapped his palm, hidden in his sleeve, casting glances all throughout the festive hall. He'd have to go up eventually... would he have to talk? In front of everyone? Occasionally, some of the new students protested loudly against the infamous Sorting Hat, sometimes they spoke too softly for Emerly to hear.
In the lowering din of the last student's sorting and the ensuing applause, he heard a "Pine, Emerly!"
Standing, acutely aware of the stares and the ensuing expectant silence, he strode with surprising grace to the stool.
He exhaled as the hat was placed on his head, thankful his nervousness never really manifested as clumsiness. He stifled a smile at the thought of himself tripping and falling halfway to the Sorting Hat. That would have earned him a spot in everyone's mind for sure.
"Glad you made it up here in once piece, eh, Sir Pine?" the hat spoke the moment it was placed on his head. There was a ripple of amusement from the crowd. The hat and the First year had a bit of a conversation, punctuated by a look of such surprise on the boy's face that other students murmured. After a moment the surprise turned to a warm, bemused expression, as if he'd been told something very hard to believe but he had no other option but to accept it.
"Slytherin!"
As Emerly got up, he heard the hat continue to make comments about him, one of which steeled him to look at the entirety of the school's students, none of which he knew, despite his cousins, and then the Slytherin table.
The hat had said he was brave- indeed he would have to be brave now, and very cunning at that. Hopefully the hat placed him rightly, as he might need a bit of that particular trait do well as a Half-blood in a house like Slytherin. From what he'd heard, that is. Hopefully it wasn't all true. He quirked a bit of a smile and made his way towards the table, perhaps a little less certain this time around.

Leo’s eyes hadn’t blinked once since he got off the train. He was still in shock from the day’s previous events. The gate between Kings Cross Station and Platform 9 ¾ almost made his heart stop. His mother, Elizabeth, decided to go with him, making sure he had a warm send-off before his journey began. Handing him a bag of assorted sweets and giving him a soft kiss on his forehead, Elizabeth watched as her son, her pride and joy, hurried onto the Hogwarts Express, eager to start the school year. She knew this day would come, and it was only a matter of time before he’d be off, but she still felt deeply saddened. He was her only child. He meant everything to her. Now here he was, on the train, waving happily to his mother as the train started moving. With tears in her eyes, Elizabeth smiled back and waved, her eyes following the train as it moved further and further away from her.

The castle looked magnificent from the outside. The first years were all huddled outside a rather large set of doors, awaiting further instructions from the professors. Leo could hear some students talk about the room in front of them. The Great Hall, they called it. Leo thought back to when he’d received his letter and showed his mother. One of the marvelous places she talked about was the Great Hall. She said the room was bright and colourful with long tables stretched out across the entire room.

Not a moment passed when the first years were herded into the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony. Leo’s eyes immediately looked up, his face in awe once more. The ceiling looked like the night sky, as clear as day. He took note on the floating candles. ‘There ARE floating candles’ he thought to himself, walking with the other students. They all came to a haul, standing in front of a wooden stool with an old, worn down hat sitting on top of it. Next to the hat was an older man, holding a scroll as he began talking to the large group of first years. He was the headmaster of Hogwarts. One by one he called each student up, placed the hat on their head, then watched as they were sorted into one of the four houses the Headmaster had mentioned. It wasn’t long before Leo heard “…Leo Ashton!”

He gently pushed past a few students, mumbling a soft “sorry” as he made his way up to the Headmaster. He took a seat on the stool, feeling the hat sit on top of his head. While the others were being sorted, Leo failed to pay attention to the hat, who began speaking! In the midst of his awe of his surroundings, he wasn’t paying attention to what had been happening in front of him. When the hat began to speak, he jolted his body ever so slightly. A few students giggled at him, watching as his eyes were looking up, listening to the hat.

“Hmm…very interesting. I see a strong-willed mind…What’s this? A short temper? Hmm, interesting…”

Leo was slightly worried. Was it bad to have a short temper? Surely other students also had short tempers.“There is a persistence in your heart, it’s very strong…” The hat continued, taking short pauses between thoughts. “I know just where to put you…” Leo’s heart seemed to stop beating as he waiting for the hat to shout his chosen house.

“GRYFFINDOR!”

With a smile on his face, Leo hopped off the stool and made his way over to his house’s table, taking a seat with a few other first years.

Jorah sat at the table with his fellow Ravenclaws. They welcomed him warmly with a smile or a nod as he swung his legs onto the bench before him. Jorah looked around at the students sitting near him. He didn't recognize a single one. He studied them, some continued to watch the ceremony while others were conversing and stifling back giggles with a friend, probably their best friend, and that's when Jorah felt it, he was alone. It seemed that all of today's excitement, from the Hogwart's express, the boat ride across the lake, and finally the sorting ceremony were all masking the pit he had felt in his stomach when he hugged his family goodbye on Platform 9 3/4. That dreadful feeling was there all day but it didn't feel so bad as it did in this moment.

Ravenclaw!, the hat exclaimed! Jorah looked up to see a young girl with curly blonde hair walking over to the table and taking a seat near him. Once she was at the table, she was close enough for him to notice her stunning stormy grey eyes. She looked friendly. Now this is the perfect time to try to make a friend, he thought. Quick, congratulate her!

Jorah opened his mouth for the first time while at the Ravenclaw table. Hey, Congrats! I'm a first year too. I guess we'll probably be seeing a lot of eachother, you know with being in the same classes and the same house and all. Oh, I'm Jorah by the way. He stuck out his right hand to shake hers.

The cheers seemed to settle, as if on cue, when the next first year was called forward to the hat. It was in this moment of quiet, that Ruthie looked along this table of her new-found peers. What might they be like? Clever and witty was the description prescribed to them, but the Scottish girl imagined they must all have their own quirks and interests, the things that, quite simply, made them individuals. Turning her head, she studied those in her immediate vicinity, keeping an eye on the boy she'd followed down to the table. She'd spent the majority of the boat ride talking to the former Quidditch star staff member and even that interaction seemed far away. She was desperate to speak, and get to know her peers, but there was something about the ceremony that demanded quiet whenever a student was under the hat.

Luckily, she wasn't the only one wanting to say hello. The boy she'd followed and sat next to congratulated her under the dim of the fading claps. "Thanks," she said as she shook his hand eagerly in return, "You too." Smiling, she looked up at his face. He had kind golden brown eyes. So, she decided to return the introduction: "Ruth, but everyone at home calls me 'Ruthie.'" Her Scottish accent kicked in on the vowels especially. She looked up briefly, the night sky of Hogwarts reminding her of the fishing village she'd left behind, before looking back at his face and then back across to the dais. There was likely another student who needed sorting.

Upon arriving at Hogwarts, all Jason could do was stare in amazement of how wondrous this place was. From the train to the boat ride, even among entering this great establishment all the stories couldn't compare to how it looked. The aromas seeping through the cracks of the doors, the shadows of people dancing in the windows and even the laughter could be heard from the outside. Jason could feel the sweat drip down his neck, from his anxiety running wild with his emotions. It didn't help that the cold wind blew through the night sky making him a bit colder than usual.

He looked among all the students, watching some fear the new experience and others had the same look he did the feeling of anticipation. Or he could've been wrong. All he knew was that at this moment his life was going to change for the better he hoped. "New start Jason...Uncle Vincent... Sophia, I hope this works out like you said." Jason said faintly under his breath. He wasn't too okay with opening himself up to people. He still showed respect to them by answering their questions but, he still wasn't comfortable opening up even with all the people he saw before stepping in on Hogwarts ground.

As what seemed like forever, the entrance to the Great Hall was in reach. The teacher leading the group spoke of how we must present ourselves inside the hall and what was coming next. However, Jason was so entranced by the doors leading into Hogwarts he didn't hear anything she said before he knew it, the doors were open and off they all went. Up the stairs and through another set of doors which lead into the Main Hall. Food and laughter were heard even louder since the doors were now finally open but, silence fell as we all walked in.

Jason could feel the eyes staring at not only himself but, for his classmates as well. "Amazing.."Jason said out loud a bit, he seemed more out of touch with the people and more into checking out all the scenery. From the floating candles to the ghost floating around the table, everything made Jason feel happy for once in his life. As his mind wandered he accidentally bumped into a boy. Jason didn't fall but, he was caught off guard. Lucky enough the boy for him was so shocked by everything too he didn't notice the bump himself. As Jason's mind began to wander, he could hear the Headmaster speak. Being a bit tall for his age he was able to see not only the Headmaster but, the teachers as well. Several minutes of introductions and it was time for sorting. Jason could hear all the names being called as students were placed in their respected houses, cheers of the tables erupted as they got one student after another. However, Jason's nerves were getting the best of him. All he heard were stories of Hogwarts from his Uncle nothing more nothing less, so why was being sorted so nerve-racking for him. [What if I am not good enough to be sorted?} Like a cruel joke being played on him, his name was called. Jason looked up and froze for a moment as if his name wasn't called but, his bodied moved anyway. [OI....what are doing Jason.] Jason thought to himself as he walked closer to the hat. His mind was in shambles as the Headmaster placed the Hat upon his head.

"Well....well. Snider never thought I would see anyone by that name in a while. All of you lot are so ambitious. Strong-willed. Yet, honest to say the least. Boy out of all of them.. you are the most ambitious of them all and your mind seems to hold secrets only you can solve. Those ambitions and talents you have would only be accomplished in SLYTHERIN."

Jason could only hear the cheers from the Slytherin table as he walked down the steps slowly. As he did so all he could think to himself. [What ambitions? I don't even know myself too well.]

The journey from the boats to the castle itself was relatively short, but as this night had already proved it was far, far from lacking in the excitement department. Every single step continued to uncover something new, something beyond belief. It truly was enough to overwhelm the heart of a young girl, well if she wasn't already prepared for it. Though to say that she wasn't feeling small was quite the understatement. Normally Maggie had always been the shortest, heck tiniest person around her peers, but here, well this was a whole different ball game. The entirety of the castle was absolutely humongous. The towering spires, the gigantic structure itself and even the ginormous doors. It all seemed like it had been created for the purpose of housing truly massive students, though one could really take that metaphorically as housing some amazing personalities and minds. Or at least she hoped it was like that, though based on what the girl had already read within her textbooks a lot of the creatures of legend did in fact very much exist in the world. 'I wonder if there are giants here now...' The young girl couldn't help but wonder

Her answer came moments later. Just at the entrance of what appeared to be a massive room, even compared to Hogwarts standards stood an absolutely giant man clad in armour, making his frame even bigger. She couldn't help but stop and look up towards the man, who towered a good couple of feet above her. He honestly looked a bit like Santa, but she knew it wasn't him... wait could it mean that Santa Clause actually exists if magic is a real thing?! This would need to be investigated for sure.

As she was ushered inside she finally realised just how breathtaking this hall actually was. The countless floating candles and the view of the stars outside... wait stars?! Weren't they inside? 'This keeps getting better and better with every passing moment!' Maggie couldn't help but exclaim in her mind as a grin quickly graced her pale expression. She was truly happy to have been given this opportunity. Without a shadow of a doubt she would do everything she could to make the most of it!

"Margarita Sunderland"

Hearing her name would make the girl snap back to reality, finding herself at the front of what appeared to be a queue with a single chair in the middle. The huge old man from before was holding what appeared to be a large piece of parchment. She frankly had absolutely no clue what she was meant to do, having missed the entirety of the explanation, but would make her way forwards and take a seat on the chair. It wasn't even a couple of moments later before she found herself with a rather ginormous hat, which covered most of the top of her head.

"You're an odd one aren't you?"

The voice coming from the newly-acquired article of clothing made her jump, not quite enough to make her stand up and run away, but enough to be noticeable from everyone who was paying attention. A few chuckles errupted from the crowd, which she just now realised were all looking at her. Maggie really wanted to disappear right now, but she really didn't have the time to continue down that trail of thought.

'Quite the brave little creature you are. Always running around and exploring. Looking for things nobody else has found before. Loyal as well, refusing to give in to oppressors or superiors. A little rebel in a way. Oh and what have we here... a desire to be great. A difficult one you are.'

The hat continued with it's voice echoing in her mind as she grabbed the corners of her chair with all her strength. Her knuckles quickly drained of blood as her normally pale skin became even more so.... if that was honestly possible at this point.

'But all those things stem from one thing don't they. Yes. You would make a fine Gryffindor, but that's not quite where you belong. No. That mind of yours has an endless hunger for knowledge. The questions are unending with you. I know exactly what to do with you.'

It would add as the girl slowly began to relax, growing used to the weird situation, questions forming in her head one after the other. What was this hat? How was it reading her mind? Would you be able to stop it? Would she be able to read the minds of others? Ooooh that sounded interesting. She had to look into it more.

"RAVENCLAW"

The hat finally announced, seemingly having confirmed what it had thought as the girl was ushered away from the chair and over towards the table with blue ornaments and banners all around. And thus her journey began......

While Aeyrun would say that patience was one of his defining traits, even he would have to admit that that was not true at this moment. How long does this whole thing take anyways?

What definitely did not help his mood were the occasional stares he would catch being directed at him, or more specifically his eyes. Muggle born idiots, he thought to himself with a roll of his eyes and a small huff slipped pass his lips in annoyance.

Burying his hands deeper into his pockets Aeyrun decided to distract himself by casting a a glance about the hall, well as little of it as he could see through the first years nervously shifting about him. Settling his gaze on the Slytherin table, he would think back to how the majority, if not all of his family members were sorted into the house. Every fibre of his being knew that's were he belonged, he just hoped the sorting hat had the sense to see that.

It would be around this time as he was lost in his thoughts that he'd be brought back to the great Hall by someone calling his name out, that someone just happened to be holding the sorting hat and looking out at the sea of assembled first years in expectation.

A small smirk coming to pull at his features, Aeyrun would set up to sit on the stool as the hat was brought to rest on his head.

"Ahhh, another Whitehall." The hat said, its voice somehow echoing inside his head at it spoke. "And just the same as everyone of you that came before, honestly, do you never change?" A few more moments of shifting about on his head would end with the sorting hat's final decision

"Slytherin!"

Having the hat taken off his head, Aeyrun walked over to the cheering and clapping Slytherin table. He was finally here, now he'd just have to remember to write to his mother every now and then.

Hope is a prison.

It had only been Cai's second day here at Hogwarts for he had just recently enrolled into this prestigious school of the arts of witchcraft and wizardry. The previous afternoon and evening was quite eventful for Cairo for it was his first, exciting trip on the legendary Hogwarts Express. After reading loads and loads of books about this muggle locomotive, Cairo gazed and beamed with excitement as he compared the pictures of the book to the actual representation of the train. Feeling excited, but yet as nervous as ever to start his new life in an unfamiliar territory, Cairo kissed his mother Elizabeth, his father Seth, and his sister Alex goodbye before pushing his cart filled with supplies up to the train.

After Cairo placed his trunk and items way, He decided to enter a random compartment where there was only one lady present who looked to be around his own age. After speaking to the young lady, Cairo received the information that her name was Aydeen Murphy who was yet also a first year student at Hogwarts as well! It was quite an awkward experience for Cai for he was one that tended to be shy and reserved around new people which was something that he let go after he felt comfortable enough to open up to Deen. Feeling color brim his pale cheeks, Cairo smiled softly for he wasn't one to smile often. He began to feel more comfortable and relaxed for he was afraid to be alone, but thankfully this kind young lady was of assistance to accompany him for the rest of the train ride.

After arriving at the docks where magical boats were all anchored, ready to set sail, Cairo exited the train with his cart and took his luggage over to the drop off section available for the students. After doing so, Cairo made his way over to the boats and decided to carefully step into one. After deciding on finding a seat in the back of the magical vessel, Cairo clung to his robes for the late August winds had swooshed through the premises as the weather was preparing for the fall season. Trying to keep himself warm, Cairo observed every spectacle around him as his boat was nearing closer and closer to the magnificent fortress that was placed before him.

After exiting the boats safely on the other side of the moat, Cairo made sure that he was the last one to exit for he was one that tended to be respectful on all occasions. From opening doors for other people, to always receiving his share of anything last, Cairo was known to be a humble "Prince Charming" in his own little way. Walking through the front doors, Cairo's face lit up with awe and wonder as he glanced around at the halls of Hogwarts- the place that he would call his new home. Seeing that the history books were correct, Hogwarts was everything that Cairo imagined it to be, but yet so much more. From the architecture to the decor, Cairo truly felt like this academy could definitely be his new home for the next seven school years.

Walking in the back along with the other first year students, Cairo tried to pick up his short legs as he chased after them, having his dress cloak fly behind him. Cairo wasn't one to run, but he was determined to not fool himself as he would make his grand entrance into the legendary Great Hall where the other students were already seated at their proper House tables. Puffing his chest out a bit and standing straight with perfect posture like his dad taught him to do, Cairo took a deep breath before walking into the Great Hall with the other first years. Feeling the eyes of the other students fall on him and the other first years, Cairo gulped down a lump of nervousness down his throat as he slightly began to sweat for a little on his forehead and in his palms. "Oh no! This is it! The moment I have been dreading for ever since I read about it." Cairo said to himself as he tried to control his anxiousness, but couldn't for he had issues with anxiety.

After waiting for the other students to be sorted into their new Houses, Cairo clapped after each student's new House cheered for them loudly. Knowing that he wasn't one to smile much for he was such a serious character, Cairo decided to place a very well disguised small smile across his lips as he pretended that he cared about the ones who were getting placed. It was hard for Cairo to judge or compare others for he was always a prestigious young man who sought out the best for his life. Cairo just desired for others to do the same and always be challenged to strive for success. Cairo was a natural Slytherclaw through and through for he desired success and for wisdom that comes from knowledge. Cairo continued to ponder over these thoughts before he heard the Headmaster declare a name that he was all too familiar with.
"Hawthorne, Cairo Bridge! Mr. Hawthorne, please step forward and take your seat."

Gulping once again, Cairo struggled his way through the crowd as he blushed from embarrassment as he bumped into the other taller first years. "Oops! Pardon me Miss. Oh!- Excuse me Sir." Cairo would say to the other un-sorted students who surrounded him. Poor Cairo was way too petite and little to get through the crowd that he struggled greatly with the task. Thankfully, Cairo eventually made it to the front of the room and ascended the small steps, determined to not make a fool of himself while in the process of doing it. Blushing with embarrassment, Cairo pushed and jumped onto the high barstool that was available and turned his body to face the awaiting crowd of students below him who were all staring at him intently with their judging eyes. Being slightly frightened again, Cairo looked down and avoided the looks from the crowd as he fiddled with his thumbs before feeling a large, heavy, floppy hat be placed on top of his skull. Hearing a deep booming voice, Cairo gently looked up and around the room, admiring the architecture while listening to the Hat speak.
Well, well, well! What do we have here? A Hawthorne eh? Hmm... I haven't had one of you Hawthlings around for quite some time. Hmm... You have your family be spread across many Houses so you may be a hard one to select. Hmm...."
Cairo honestly did not know that he had a lineage of wizards and witches from all of the Houses so that was news to the little boy of eleven years. Cairo figured that he would have to owl his father later and speak with his about this matter. The awkward pause in the speech started to make Cairo even more nervous if that was even possible. Soon, the Hat continued.
"Hmm... now for you Cairo, you are a tricky case for me. There is no doubt that you do not belong in Gryffindor for your strength and valor is quite small. You would be a wonderful member in the Houses of Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw though for I sense that you are a loyal, kind, honest, seeker of ambition, seeker of wisdom, and a seeker of knowledge. Out of all of these Houses, I believe that you would belong the most to is......

RAVENCLAW!"

Taking a deep breath of relief, Cairo felt the Sorting Hat be removed from his little head as Cairo hopped off of the tall bar-stool, which made him stumble a bit. Hearing the loudest cheers and standing ovations from an area of students all dressed in blue robes, Cairo finally smiled a tad more genuinely as he blushed from the attention which he had never received in this abundance before. Cairo smiled and took his seat at the end of the table as everyone was welcoming and congratulating Cairo for being sorted into their House. This night would be the first of many for Cairo Hawthorne which would mark as the first official event of his next seven years at Hogwarts where anything could happen.... only if you believe that it can by believing in the magic within ourselves.

The room they were all corralled into was marvelous and magnificent. Larger than any place Rosalyn had ever stepped foot in. There were four incredibly long dining tables within the room and benches on either side of all the tables. Her mouth gaped open ever so slightly at the sight of all the food laid out for them, truly a feast fit for royalty. She had never seen so much food in the same room her entire life, but knew they required such to feed all of the first years. She continued to be amazed as her aquatic eyes landed on the massive portraits lining the walls that came alive and chattered between themselves. However, what utterly shocked her the most was that the headmaster, Mr. Lear, had welcomed all of them at the door himself. She had never seen him in person before, but was in awe of how tall he towered over the entire student body in attendance. No one came even close to being in the same height range as he, which of course made sense given how young they all were.

The headmaster also seemed to have a peculiar sense of style, deciding to dress in armour as if he were a knight despite his dark grey beard hinting otherwise. Yet she thought it was a fun and neat idea to wander around with plated armour, and that perhaps he did so purely because of how much he enjoyed wearing it. She didn’t know if it was comfortable or not since she herself had never worn anything even remotely close to armour, but maybe one day she could try some on and be a judge of it then.

Once all of the students were welcomed inside and taken their seats the real ceremony began and the headmaster gave a speech, his voice deafeningly loud despite how far away he was thanks to some sort of magic or magical device being used to amplify it. He spoke about the event that was about to take place and even the sorting hat chimed in for part of it to sing a song. Once he finished the petite girl clapped with a grin upon her lips, incredibly excited even more so after such a wonderful song than before. Then just like that, the first name was called and they were sorted, this pattern continuing for a while.

The golden child watched the sorting ceremony with more interest than most would have, curious as to what houses her newly made friends would be in once they were called up. Cyrus was the first to be sorted, her childhood-friend being placed in Gryffindor, which didn’t surprise her in the slightest. He was always proud and sought glory in everything, two of the bigger traits for his house it seemed. The next person to get called up was the boy who had spilled his curry all over Cyrus’ friend Jacob, an action that hadn’t bothered her nearly as much as it had affected everyone else there. He was sorted into the same house as Cyrus, apparently being similar to the pure-blood despite not acting like it. Before long it was the one blonde boys turn to take center stage, the one whom she never got to formally meet, and they were the first of the group to be placed in Slytherin.

It was exciting to know someone from two of the houses so far, and she began to wonder which house she would be calling her second home soon. All of them were amazing and filled with great people that she couldn’t decide where she would even want to be sorted into, hence why the sorting hat decided for everyone it seemed. It placed people in the right house for them, even when they don’t believe it to be true, just like the last blondie of their group, Jacob. The moment the hat said Ravenclaw he was visibly upset, shouting that that house was for nerds and the hat obviously made a mistake. Rosalyn hoped he would grow to love his house and the people within it, making friends there just as much as with them.

A bellowing voice and familiar name brought her attention from the now Ravenclaw boy to the sorting hat on the stage.

“Rosalyn Wolfhart!”

It was her time to shine. She rose from her seat at one of the many dining tables and made her way to the stool with the hat, avoiding obstacles on the way over. The last thing she needed was to trip and fall in front of everyone. That would be so embarrassing!

Fortunately, the petite first year survived the short journey to the center and waited eagerly for the hat to be placed upon her head, an excited smile dancing across her rosy pink lips and her eyes sparkled with intrigue. This was the moment she had been waiting for all night, and after the brief encounter with the magical hat, she would be surrounded by the people she’ll most likely make the strongest of bonds with.

“Hiya, Mr. Hat!” Her voice quietly chirped to the magical object right as it was placed upon her head, then before she could say anything more he spoke up with a bellow of laughter.

“Ha ha ha, why hello to you too, Ms. Wolfhart! Energetic right from the get-go I see.” There was a brief moment of pause as he began to analyze her thoughts, or so she guessed was the reason for the silence. She wasn’t quite sure why else he would’ve stopped talking, unless he was into dramatic effects as well and only paused to add emphasis to his words, although if she was to be frank she didn’t think a magical, talking Hat needed to add emphasis to what they say. But hey, she wasn’t going to argue with his reasoning for why he did what he did. “A bubbly and bright one you are, eh? A loyal and trustworthy friend with a pure heart and desire to protect those you care about...”

Another very short pause followed suit, and a part of her already knew where the Hat might be going with the sorting. She knew all too well the qualities of three of the houses from her family, each reigning from a different one and telling her all about their values and beliefs to prepare her for today.

“I think it is quite clear where you’ll be going, and you already know that you belong to...HUFFLEPUFF!” As the word echoed out the room applauded and cheered for her with the Honey Badger table being more lively than the rest. She grinned from ear to ear as she walked over to her housemates, eager to start making friends with them and getting to know each and every one of the people in yellow and black.

Now her story at Hogwarts truly begins.
