Echo was, eagerly looking around, he was well, still wasn't sure if he was dreaming, it was a grand sight to behold though, so many people, around his age and not, sitting at each and every table. He was excited and never wanted to wake up.
That is, Until he heard "ECHO PURE"
It was at this moment, that he kind of just, woke up from his little dream land, all eyes were on him, and he nervously got up, he was tempted to just run, but Adventurers dont run, they walk into danger. So he took a deep breath, and made his way up to the Sorting Hat, Taking a seat on the Stool.
The Hat gave a bit of a chuckle as it saw his Nervousness, not in a mocking way, but more of how a friend would be in response to a joke, it, calmed Echo Slightly.
"I see great Confidence within you, and a desire for Adventure...Maybe Gryffindor..." The hat says, before seeming to think "But what do we have here, A desire for Friends, and longing trust in what few friends you have. and the want to work hard to get to your desire, not to get there instantly. There is only one place for someone like you.
The Sorting Hat Clears its "Throat" and yells out
"HUFFLEPUFF
and to that, Echo was speechless at the Entire Hufflepuff Table burst into clapping, and some people of other houses to! It, wasnt what he was expecting, he was expecting Gryffindor, but, he decided to trust the hat, and went down, to sit with his new large "family".
A Adventure is not about the Ending, its About the Friends and Experiences you make along the way.

The last few months had been such a blur for Brooke. Learning that magic was real and that she could go to a special school to study it? It was a revelation that completely changed her life. Just like that she was tossed into a whole new world, with owls and moving pictures and great wizards. It still felt like a dream, but Brooke was determined to make the most of it.

It seemed the rushed introduction had all be leading up to this point: the sorting hat. Brooke didn’t quite grasp the significance of the houses, but the kids from wizarding backgrounds seemed rigid with anticipation. The feeling was infectious, for as it drew closer and closer to Brooke’s turn with the hat, she felt her heart accelerating. Her thin frame was just about shaking with both nervousness and anticipation as it came time for her to step forward.

What if the hat found that there were some sort of mistake, and Brooke didn’t actually have magic at all? What if her housemates didn’t like her? Maybe the hat would chose incorrectly and she wouldn’t fit in with the others. She hadn’t ever been away from her family like this before, and she wasn’t sure what she could do if things went wrong! Would anyone be sympathetic? Would she be allowed to leave? It hadn’t even been a day and already Brooke wanted to escape the confines of the Great Hall and curl up back on her bed.

In the midst of her racing thoughts, Brooke’s legs had carried her forward to the stool unconsciously. All the eyes were on her; there was no turning back now. Gingerly she grabbed onto the hat’s rim, carefully guiding the worn form and placing it on her head, hoping she wouldn’t do anything to offend the apparently-sentient apparel.

There was a moment of hesitation, and she could hear the hat humming to itself. Brooke wasn’t sure if she was supposed to say anything, so she stayed silent, fidgeting restlessly. “Ravenclaw!” the hat announced suddenly, ending its deliberation. There were some cheers and Brooke hastily shifted back down for the next student. All doubts were forgotten, instead excitement taking its place as Brooke rushed to the table of her new house.

The Sorting.

The most important event that would dictate the rest of Parker’s entire life. Her house would affect the people she spent the majority of her time with, how other people saw her, and especially the type of person she would eventually become, what with all the stereotypes and such. All the houses seemed like good candidates, from what Parker could see as she stared coldly down at the tables, all of which were quiet in anticipation to see which house each first year ended up in.

Well… maybe not all of them.

Personally, Parker wanted to be in either Slytherin or Ravenclaw. From what she heard from her mother, the people in the green and blue houses were typically a respectable folk. Nothing like the savage beast her Gryffindor father was, who was always loud and stomping around as if he were a toddler. If Parker had to choose, she would follow in her mother’s footsteps and be a beautiful, mysterious Slytherin. Shame that Louise Loveless had her own faults as well, all of which Parker couldn’t just ignore.

She didn’t want to even consider Hufflepuff. Frolicking puppies in buttercup meadows, the lot of them. Mother told her that they didn’t have any defining traits to get them sorted in the other three houses, so the Sorting Hat just lumped them in their yellows and blacks. Parker shielded her eyes away from the badger house—perhaps if she didn’t look at them, then she wouldn’t get sorted there.

Soon, Parker’s name got called, and she made sure to glide gracefully toward the stool in order to make a lasting impression on all the students. Crossing her legs once she sat, the girl straightened her back and did her best to look as poised and elegant as possible. Finally, someone lowered the hat onto her perfect head.

Parker Loveless, eh? sounded an unfamiliar voice. Parker gasped and almost jumped out of her seat. She knew that the Sorting Hat could speak, but—

Oh, be calm, will you? Now, let’s see… Merlin, you’ve got nothing of your father in you! Everything in your noggin is just like your mother, though I wouldn’t take that entirely as a compliment.

Parker’s face flushed a brilliant angry red. Just like her mother? Just like Louise? This stupid hat—

Hmm, though the more that I take a peek, maybe I was wrong. Jason certainly mellowed the Louise out within you. But enough about them, and more about you. Gryffindor, definitely not. Ravenclaw, almost, but not quite. Slytherin…

Her heart began to race. Slytherin. Yes, that was what she wanted—

No. So, so, so close, yes, but a girl such as yourself won’t grow a fraction there with the snakes. Parker Loveless, you might not know it yet, but you’re devoted. Diligent. Why, that sounds almost just like…

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Parker abruptly stood up, failing to believe what she just heard. Hufflepuff, out of all the four houses? Hufflepuff, the one she wanted to get sorted in the least? What was wrong with this hat!?

With her eyes lowered shamefully to the ground, the newly-minted badger trudged toward the Hufflepuff table, barely meeting the gaze of anyone she passed.

Upon entering the great hall he thought his heart was going to stop. It seemed to still for a moment before starting to race. His head moved in whatever directions he could, taking everything in. It took a long moment for him to breathe, the air taken from his lungs.

The candles, he had heard about them and what seemed like a starry night sky up above him. It was what he had dreamed about for so long. It still felt like a dream to him, like the tales his mother and father had told him about what Hogwarts was like from their point of view. No matter what he wanted to be a Ravenclaw, he had to be, didn’t he? What else was there that fit him? Slytherin, maybe, Gryffindor, absolutely not, Hufflepuff, also unlikely. It had just seemed like the obvious choice.

Though usually from what he saw everyone fit the stereotypes of their houses. He didn’t want to be a stereotype. He wanted to be something more, something greater. He knew deep in his heart there had always been something there. Why else would he be standing in the great hall?

When the hat started singing he knew that it was about to begin. What would he have been sorted into? What were his parents going to say about his house? What other people would he become friends with? What would his classes be like? A million things ran through his head but what stopped all of them was...

“Terrance Ross!”

As soon as his name was called he got up, headed toward the stool. Once he sat down and the hat was placed upon his head he took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

“Another Ross eh? Oh I’m going to have fun with you. And what a curious one you are! A young man who keeps his cards to his chest, intelligent, stubborn, strong willed. But loyal, caring, you have courage. Where to put you... oh I know!”

“RAVENCLAW!”

Exactly what he had expected and wanted. Hearing cheers from the table, especially from students who had heard of his brother. This was it. Everything seemed like it was underwater as he went to his table, everything drowned out by his own thoughts as he took his seat. Starting today he was a student at Hogwarts.

The travel to Hogwarts was one of the most amazing things that Genny had ever experienced. Every part of her journey from shopping for her school supplies, to riding the train, to sailing across on boats could truly only be described as magical. This is unlike any school I could have ever imagined, she thought as all the first years were being lead into the Great Hall. As the large doors opened with a slight creek the shining light of a thousand candles floating in the air almost blinded her. "Oh my God..." she whispered as her jaw nearly dropped to the floor. Genny's amazement had her frozen in place until another first year pushed past her. "Move it!" the random student shouted as he placed himself in front of Genny. Guess school jerks exist even at a magic school, Genny thought as she leaned closer to the boy and gently tapped his shoulder. He turned around with a frustrated grunt and asked her what her problem was. "Oh I don't have a problem, but if you push me again I will become YOUR problem. Got it?" Genny said with a forced smile.

Before things could escalate one of the professors stepped in and instructed the first years on where to sit. Just as Genny went to take her seat the professor approached her and said, "It isn't wise to be causing trouble on your first day." Honestly, Genny knew the professors was right, but it wasn't all her fault. Why was it that she always seemed to be the one to get scolded for doing something wrong when all conflicts involved two more more people? Instead of voicing any of this though Genny just nodded and replied, "I'm sorry professor. The nerves have me acting up bit. I heard other kids talking about the sorting on the train. They made this whole sorting thing sound really important." The professor sighed and answered, "Indeed it is. This decides what house you will be in for the rest of your schooling here. There are no second tries when it comes to this. But don't worry about it too much. That won't do you any good. Trust that the hat will put you where you are meant to be." At that the professor walked off and Genny was left feeling a mixture of nervousness and curiosity.

Soon after Genny's thoughts began to wander a bit, but luckily she was called back to the present moment when the Headmaster started to deliver a speech. After he spoke the sorting hat sang a little song that sort of summed up each house, giving Genny a better idea of what each one was about. They all sound pretty cool to me. I honestly don't know which I'd fit best into.

Next each student was called up one by one and Genny watched as everyone clapped and cheered for each new first year getting assigned a house. The energy in the room suddenly felt contagious, and Genny could help but to smile and cheer for others because of it. Then, after a while, it was her turn. After hearing her name Genny took a deep breath and reminded herself that no matter what she was going to make her time here worth it. She stood up out of her seat and approached the hat with an unreadable expression. The moment she took a seat on the stool the hat was placed upon her head and her sorting began.

"Hmm... You are a curious child aren't you? And I mean that in many ways. Your tendency to find trouble makes you too much for Hufflepuff..."

Hey! Genny mentally screamed, feeling as though she had just been insulted. How rude!

"You know I can hear your thoughts girl."

"My bad..." Genny replied with a small laugh.

"You do seek knowledge, but you seem to seek many things. Between your ambitions and your troublemaking tendencies I'd say you're a Sly-" And then the hat paused. The room seemed to fall eerily quiet for a few seconds as the hat ponder Genny's placement further.

"While I see a Slytherin mind, I sense a heart of.... GRYFFINDOR!"

The moment the name Gryffindor was called out all those in that house stood up and cheered, some were practically screaming. In that moment relief flooded Genny. She was just happy that her sorting had come to an end. As the hat was removed off of her and she started to walk to the Gryffindor table she couldn't help but to wonder what exactly the hat saw in her. Genny always thought that she knew herself, but then again she had no idea that she was even a witch until a few days ago. Maybe there was more to her than even she realized.

Walking into the castle was something out of a dream for Eliza. Growing up with her mother, the witch in her half-blood family, dead, she really had no clue what to think of the wizarding world and everything about it. It gave both her and her father quite a shock when they discovered she was a witch, and the shock was only amplified when she received her Hogwarts letter. She remembered walking into Diagon Alley with her dad in utter shock. The many different wizarding shops with bits and bobbles everywhere made it feel unreal. She had no expectations walking into the castle, and had no clue what the year at Hogwarts would hold for her in general. She took in the various sights as they were lead through the castle. She couldn't help but wonder where they were going, but she couldn't pay too much attention as she was still in awe about how grand and beautiful the castle was.

They finally came to a half in front of a pair of huge doors. Eliza had to strain her neck over the crowd of other first years to see what was happening. She could hear the roar of a crowd behind the doors. Where were they? What adventures were they about to take part in? They waited for what seemed like 10 minutes before a man emerged in front of them and spoke to them. Eliza listened carefully and felt her heartbeat quicken ever so slightly as he reached to open the pair of doors.

They emerged into a room full of amazing sights and smells. There were hundreds of kids, all paying attention to the first years as they progressed through the hall. Eliza couldn't help but smile. This really was something out of a dream. She was amazed by the floating candles and about how the ceiling looked like it went up into the skies. The golden plates on the long tables were shimmering beautifully with the reflection of the students' faces. They finally reached the front of the hall where the headmaster took his seat at the front table and they were left looking at a hat on a stool. Eliza found herself even more amazed when the hat started to sing and even more when it started to scream names after being put on students' heads. She knew vaguely what was happening, but she had no idea what house she was supposed to be in.

"Eliza Thornwood" the hat bellowed. Her heartbeat quickened to the fastest it could. She shakily made her way up to the stool, sat down, and waited for the hat to be put on her head.

It was silent for what felt like an eternity. It even felt like her brain was silent, no thoughts. Finally, it came to a conclusion.

"Slytherin" the hat bellowed. The roar of the green table was deafening, and she felt her heartbeat calm down as she went over to the table, shaking a few hands and smiling at new friends.

Thora swallowed hard as she trotted into the Great Hall, swept along the fast-running tide of First Years. Coming from an entirely Muggle background, Thora had only heard whispered rumors of Hogwarts aboard the Hogwarts Express. Her pale gray-green eyes raked the room, taking in the magically levitating candles, the enrobed, dignified teachers, and the masses of older students. Thora shrunk even smaller than her already petite frame as she saw some boys pointing and chuckling at the scared first years.

Thora jumped as she suddenly heard singing right in front of her. Gaping, she realized a hat was...singing?

Oh! It's the Sorting Hat, Thora silently hit herself for being so dim. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin... she thought. Really, she had no idea about the general "personality" of each house, but she had heard that in general, Gryffindor was for the brave people, Hufflepuff was for the loyal, Ravenclaw for the smart/creative, and Slytherin was... was it ambitious??

"Larkston, Thora!" Thora started as she was pulled out of her daydream. She stumbled towards the platform where she would supposedly be sorted. Thora was trying desperately to clear her mind as the Sorting Hat was suddenly jammed onto her head.

Hmm... Brave, but not Gryffindor for you... definitely some loyalty in you and ooh! Very creative and very smart!! But... there's lots of determination here...

Thora gritted her teeth at the Sorting Hat's seemingly endless rambling and hoped it would decide already and save her this embarrassment.

"Slytherin!"

After a slight moment of confusion, Thora broke out into a grin and made her way over to the Slytherin table, where countless students were seated, chanting her name.

I thought I was in Ravenclaw for sure... thought Thora, After all, I am intelligent and creative... but I guess I am determined... Watching the rest of the Sorting Ceremony, Thora resolved that although she didn't feel like she had been sorted correctly, she would make Slytherin House her home.

For the first time in years Alyssa felt like she could breathe, she was free to embrace her future without the judgment of her mother. She clung to a history book as she set foot onto the Hogwarts express. This was her first time completely alone, away from her family. She searched for a compartment, one that she could occupy alone. It did not last however, there were so many other students. They spoke excitedly about the road ahead. They introduced themselves to one another and spoke about their families and how proud they were to be sent to Hogwarts. Alyssa simply stared at the book in front of her, unable to find her words. She was used to being alone, no one really paid attention to her, that was her own fault. She did not feel social and wanted to enjoy the wonders of her trip without being asked about her family. A boy across from her stared at her, she only glimpsed at him once and hoped that what she gave him was a smile. Her eyes wandered to the outside world, the vast woods that passed by them, an extraordinary sight to see.

Her heart raced as she saw the castle in the distance, it was dark outside, the moon was glistening high in the sky when the train finally stopped. The students rushed out of the train, they all seemed as excited as she felt. She took a breath as she stepped out of her compartment, she followed the students off of the train. The first year students were lead to the boats that would take them across the lake. She admired the way that old traditions never change. She had heard all the stories of how her brothers' life at Hogwarts began, all of them told the story of the Great lake. It was not long before they reached the castle. Someone was already waiting for them, Alyssa assumed it had to be one of the professors. She pulled her cloak closer to her body as the professor spoke.
"Welcome to Hogwarts, before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. While you are here your house will be like your family. You will attend classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend some of your free time in your house common room. The four houses are called Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor. While you are at Hogwarts your triumphs will earn points that may lead your house to win the House cup, however, if you break the rules your house will lose points, you have been warned," a smile spread across the professors' face as he leads them into the Great Hall.

They were lead through the double door into the Great Hall. Alyssa had read about the enchanted ceiling, but the books did not do the Great Hall justice, it was magnificent. She stared up at the starry night as they were lead through the middle of the Hall. The students stopped in front of the teachers' table. A professor placed a four-legged stool in front of the students. A pointed wizard's hat was placed upon the stool. The professor stepped forward holding a long roll of parchment. "When I call your name, please place the hat on your head and sit on the stool." Alyssa stared as students were called to the sorting hat. They were placed in the four different houses, it suddenly occurred to her that she had never thought about which house she wanted to be sorted in. Her family was always placed in Ravenclaw due to their intellect. Her heart hammered against her chest as the professor read her name...

"Alyssa Warren." She shakily stepped forward as the professor raised the hat over her head. She sat down and waited with anticipation. The professor carefully placed the hat on her head.

"Alyssa, you are the fifth of your family. I remember sorting your brothers. They were a strange bunch of boys.

I sense something different in you. Something that neither your parents nor your brothers had. A sense of purpose. A need to prove yourself, not to the world, but to yourself.

Hmmm, but where to put you."

Alyssa bit her lip as her last thoughts faded away, where was he going to put her, surely she would wind up in the same house as her family...

"There is no doubt in my mind," he whispered to her. "Better be...

GRYFFINDOR. "

Her face went pale, did she hear him right? Gryffindor? She got off the stool and headed slowly to the Gryffindor table. Surely he must be mistaken, the house of Gryffindor values courage, bravery, and determination. She felt sick to her stomach, what would her mother say. Surely the school will receive a howler. The students at the table gave her a warm welcome, she smiled at some of them but felt out of place. She knows it does not matter in which house you get placed, but this will not sit well with her family.

Loneliness followed her around like an old friend ready to receive her.

Emmeline took a deep breath as she entered the great hall.

She had been told how big and wonderful Hogwarts was, and her family had tried to prepare her for the experience. Nothing could have prepared her for this, though.
It was bigger than anything she'd ever seen. It was a castle after all, but still.

Looking around at the other students, some already whispering nervous to each other, just made her feel like an even bigger outsider.
Emmeline knew that it didn't matter to her parents what house she was sorted in. The only thing that mattered to them was that this would be a positive experience, and that she would make friends.
The thought of their words made her snort. Like she could ever make friends.

"Emmeline Thistle."

Before she knew it, her name was called. Emmeline bit her lip, and slowly moved towards the stool with the sorting hat on it. "What a weird system." She thought to herself, just as the hat was placed on her heard.

"WEIRD?" A voice that wasn't hers thundered in her head, so loud it almost hurt. Before Emmeline could think up a response, the hat starting laughing.
"Emmeline Thistle... Emmeline... An interesting lineage, you come from. Perhaps you should be in Gryffindor like your old mother?... No... That's not right... I know..." The hat mumbled off.

"RAVENCLAW!"

Once Emmaline had stepped off the stage and sat down at her table, Vivienne waited anxiously for the next name to be called. The remaining students were dwindling, so she knew she had to be called sometime soon. Sure enough,
“Vivienne Rose?” called the professor. Vivienne shakily walked up to the stool with the sorting hat on it and sat down. As the hat was placed on her head, she took a deep breath and settled down a bit.
“Another Rose, I see.” said a small voice in her ear. “Y-yes?” Startling, she shifted in her seat. “You’re a tough one. You’ve brains, just like your mother, but you’re also quite just and empathetic. What shall we do with you? I suppose you’re going to have to sit here for a while.” Vivienne waited quietly as the hat continued its musings. “You really are quite smart, but you work hard for it. So Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff? Vivienne thought for a moment “I’d like to be in Hufflepuff,” she said. “To stand out- to be different from my mother, you know.” “Very well!” said the hat. “Hufflepuff it is, then!” Vivienne sighed with relief. “HUFFLEPUFF!” the hat shouted to the hall. Ears ringing, Vivienne walked over and sat down at the Hufflepuff table to applause.
