An unexpected meeting
It was a perfect day for Sean, a clear sky, just a little breeze and a book. He had decided to sit in the courtyard to read, he had grown accustomed to reading around noise during his time in the muggle world. He almost enjoyed the chatter and movement around him, made him feel less alone. This didn't change once he got to Hogwarts.
He would sometimes even take his eyes off of his book for a second and look around at the other students that were usually just passing by or playing some wizard game that he had no knowledge of. That's when he noticed a group of girls from the Slytherin house. Sean hadn't interacted with anyone from that house yet but had heard a lot about it and not a lot of good. Yet to Sean they didn't seem that bad, at least not these girls anyway.
One of the girls caught his eye a bit more than the others, he did not know why but she seemed a bit different than the rest. Maybe was it her hair ? Or maybe was it because she wasn't really talking with the rest of them ? She seemed almost bored.
He was staring at them for a good minute before he figured that he was being creepy. But once in awhile he would glance over at the girl he found intriguing. Sean was always curious of peoples behaviors and prided himself on being a good observer but for some reason this girl that didn't seem that much different from the rest was so hard for him to read.
What is it about this girl ?
After awhile of being lost in his thoughts he decided that he wasn't going to lose his mind over this and continued reading. The book was something he had gotten from the library about the Hufflepuff house, he wanted to know a bit more about this house that he apparently belonged in.

An unexpected meeting
Opeila felt okay. Not happy, but also not sad. After weeks she was finally okay again. She had gotten used to the situation she was in, to the fear and pain that first stopped her from breathing and now were barely more than a numb pain in her chest. Annoying, existing, but not consuming her anymore. That was something she could cope with.
Maybe that was the reason for a certain Hufflepuff to stare at her. Opeila was small and skinny, and also her face was not very remarkable. The only thing that might have caughz people's attention, was the expression on her face. Opeila had been growing innerly. On her mother's coma, Jack being a disappointment, and also the spiderattack in the common room. She was still sure that she would have lost her mind if Flash hadn't been there and helped her. Never had the Slytherin experienced physical pain like in that night.
A shiver ran down her spine at the memory.
The first year girl had decided to go to the courtyard. She definitely didn't spend enough time outside, so why not just take a book to her favourite tree?
That was exactly what she had done. She had borrowed a charms book and now climbed on her favourite branch with it.
Opeila was able to read for about five minuts before she looked up. She felt watched and when she looked around, she found a Hufflepuff boy, only a few meters away, who definitely had been looking at her. Weird. "Uhm... Hey. Can I help you or something?", she asked him, not sure how to react.

An unexpected meeting
Sean had watched the girl go to the tree and wondered if she was used to going there. Was it her spot ? He always had so many questions and very few answers. He continued reading but then glanced again but this time she called him out.
Sean didn't know what to do in this situation, had he made her uncomfortable ? It wouldn't the first time his curiosity got him in trouble. He hesitated before answering, he didn't have a good way with words and would often seem cold unintentionally.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to stare"
His apology seemed sarcastic, Sean heard it and as soon as it came out he prepared himself for what was coming next. It wasn't the first time his lack of social skills would make him look bad or even hurt. One of the many reasons he interacted with others in very small doses by fear of saying something the wrong way.
He kept his eyes on the girl in the tree, waiting for her reaction. There was no point trying to recover the situation, it would have been to hard to explain and knowing himself he probably would have made it worse. For some reason at that moment he remembered what he had heard about the Slytherins and how cruel some of them could be. He hoped that she wasn't one of them.

An unexpected meeting
@Sean Hearth
It indeed had become her place again a few weeks ago, after she had stayed away from it for at least two months. After a while it just got less painful and now she could look at it again and was able to only see a tree.
When she looked at the boy's face, she could almost see the questions jumping at her. Why he was interested in her, was still something she was wondering about.
He apologized for staring, but in a tone that made the Slytherin wonder if he was making fun of her. She rose a brow, but her answer was friendly. "Well, that's the case with most of staring people. They don't mean to, but then they do it anyway. Don't worry, it's fine."
She looked at him, trying to find something familiar, but she was sure, that she had never spoken to him before. She couldn't even remember seeing him at the sorting, but that didn't have to mean anything. Before the professor had reached the letter 'S', everything had been sort of a blur, while Opeila had tried to process the power of the place that she had entered.
"I... I don't think we've met, have we? Opeila Seilun. First year, Slytherin."

An unexpected meeting
Sean was a bit took a back from how friendly the girl answered him, she wasn't annoyed ? It intrigued him even more. Opeila Seilun, what was it about this young Slytherin ? Sure Sean found her pretty but it wasn't the first time he found a girl pretty so that couldn't be it. He hesitated for a split second but ended up stuttering his name.
"Sean.. My name is Sean Hearh, I'm a first year Hufflepuff. N-nice to meet you"
He looked at Opeila with the usual curiosity when he realized that the girls she was around early were now staring at him. Sean almost felt back in Dublin in his old school where every interaction he had seemed so strange to others. To be honest he did stare at Opeila for a while which was a strange thing for most people. Sean ended up sighing and looked back at the girl.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you"
Out of all the things he said that was probably the one thing that sounded completely sincere. He walked back to where he had been reading and sat back down. He picked up his book and started reading again. The girls didn't really stop looking at him and giggling among themselves but he wasn't going to move, that would just make it worse.

An unexpected meeting
A shy boy. A shy boy who, for some reason, seemed to be somewhere interested in the Slytherin girl. That meant, if he didn't stare at every average looking Slytherin girl, like she was herself. Or at least, she thought that she was.
The boy introduced himself as Sean Hearth, first year student from house Hufflepuff. Opeila noticed that the boy stuttered a little. Did she seem that scary?
She could only just stop herself from chuckling at the thought. Opeila could remember well, how she startled Jack Burnett up on the Astronomy tower and that he had jokingly called her terrifying when she had asked him the same question.
"Nice to meet you too, Sean Hearth.", she said, smiling a little.
He seemed to regret approaching her and apologized for disturbing her, before he walked back to where he came from. The Slytherin felt bad to just let him go, possibly feeling ashamed or something.
Opeila climbed of her branch, followed the boy and shook her head. "Oh, don't apologize, you're not disturbing me at all. I'm sorry if I made you think so, I'm... well. Not in my best mood." She explained and shrugged.
The giggling of her housemates annoyed her and she shot an annoyed look at them. "Something funny here, yeah?"
If there was one thing she could thank her father for, it was probably his angry predator look, that she had inherited as well and now used on the girls. It worked quite well most of the time.

An unexpected meeting
@Opeila Seilun
Sean was surprised by Opeila, he didn't expect her to continue talking to him. He looked at her with his greyish brown eyes bright from the sun light and wondered what had put her in a bad mood if it wasn't his strange behavior ? When she looked back at the girls and asked them if there was something funny, they suddenly stopped giggling and started heading back into the castle. Sean watched the girls leave and then looked back at Opeila, he could clearly see her green eyes now.
Sean suddenly felt less nervous, he didn't know why but he had a strange feeling that Opeila wasn't that much different than him. The girls seemed to be afraid of Opeila or at least they knew not to get on her bad side, he respected that but couldn't find anything scary about her. Maybe he was just foolish and naive ? She was a Slytherin after all but for some reason he felt more like her than anyone in his own House.
"Thank you, I don't enjoy having that much attention drawn to me. I am pretty sure those girls will start spreading rumors about me." He sighed but then gave a little smile "Would it be rude to ask why you are still talking to me ?"
Obviously it was rude but Sean wanted to understand the girls thinking. Any other girl would have called him a creep and even report him, but not her. Why ?

An unexpected meeting
Well, Opeila had seen to it that she knew some spells and tended to practice them kn public. Not on people, she wasn't someone to start panic, but it was a good thing to let people know that she was able to cast spells. To harm them if necessary. Not that she would, not without a reason.
But she wouldn't have that stupid giggling around her when she was talking to someone. Kindly heck off, girls.
Sean thanked her for getting rid of the girls and told her that he didn't like attention to be drawn to him.
Opeila could kind of get that. A little attention could be useful, it definitely was a sign that she was not just going under, but a lot could be annoying.
"Attention can be just as bad as it can be useful. So it's good to know how to get it and also how to get rid of it." The Slytherin shrugged.
It surprised her, when the Hufflepuff asked her why she was still talking to him. "You're not a very social person, are you? Some people enjoy company. And you looked like you needed some. Or some help. Or like you expected me to say something." She smiled a little, his staring really had made her think, that the boy wanted something from her.
"So... why are you out here?"

An unexpected meeting
Sean nodded at what Opeila said about attention, she wasn't wrong but it didn't really change his feelings about it. It seemed that she had noticed that he wasn't a very social person, it wasn't really hard to notice with the way he acted. He thought about what she said for a second, people do usually like company but to him company meant he had to open up and he didn't really know how to do that.
She surprised him when she said that he looked like he needed something or expected her to say something. "It was more like I expected you not to say anything. If anything I expected you to be angry or disgusted by me" He was really intrigued as to why she wasn't angry, he had been caught observing people a few times and all reacted negatively which he understood it was an odd thing to do. Sean couldn't help his curiosity when he saw something or someone that he found interesting.
"I usually read alone inside but sometimes I enjoy reading outside with the sounds of everybody passing by. I guess I do like company sometimes" He gave a little smile at the young girl, with his usual cold expression giving place to a smile seemed a bit abnormal. Opeila was a small girl he thought, he hadn't really noticed until she got closer. He wasn't a very tall person either but still had a few inches on her. He put his book back into his bag and invited her to sit down.

Opeila raised her eyebrows when the Hufflepuff said that he expected her to be angry or disgusted by him. She suddenly felt a little sorry for him. If he expected opinions like that from others, how bad must he think about himself? "Why would I think such a thing? Why should I judge you when I don't even really know you?" Opeila smiled at the boy. He seemed to feel really weird about himself. Again she was annoyed by the Slytherin girls that had just walked inside. Opeila knew what it was like not to be accepted and still no to be able to get out of her routine. She would not judge Sean for doing the same.
She nodded at Sean's explanation why he liked to read outside. Opeila herself did as well, she liked to hear life around her going on while she was reading. Also it was very useful as a reminder of time. When she read during the break she would be reminded to go back inside when all the other did as well.
"What are you reading?" She leaned over to be able to look at the cover. "A schoolbook?" Opeila quite liked to read in the schoolbooks.
