@Romah Neobey @Quinton Lee @Rosie Marricott Willew @Arissa Wright @Luna JaceCade didn't feel like a twelve-year-old boy. Most of the day was much the same as all other days. He attended flying class in the morning followed by transfiguration. By the time he could really think about his birthday he had no real incentive to be happy about it. His father had sent him a package of Pepper Imps and Drooble's Best Blowing Gum. Attached was a lengthy letter about being a man. Cade wished Charles would tell him these things in person. He really missed the man. His mother sent him an assortment of fresh pies. Peggy was a baker so it was no surprise she would gift him with pastries. Cade longed to go home to his townhome in Ottery St Mary. He missed his bookshelf and the back garden.
He felt pretty lonely at Hogwarts that morning but hoped his friends would come to hang out with him. He never really told them when he was born. So when sending invitations to a little gathering that would take place later in the day, he hoped they wouldn't mind the short notice. He didn't expect them to bring anything but themselves. Leaving the owlery he set his mind to focus on homework for the time being.
As soon as the clock struck four, Cade dashed to the Courtyard hoping to see some familiar faces. It was no surprise, however, that he was the very first to arrive. He sat on the grass with two of the pies Peggy sent him. One was a well-baked cherry pie. The other was a sugary treacle tart. Cade was tempted to try some of the fillings.
Cade waited anxiously for some of his friends to arrive.

Romah reluctantly made her way to the courtyard. Her and Cade hadn't been talking alot since his comment at the fall ball so she had wanted to just leave the gift outside of a door or something but instead he suggested to come to this party of his. She adjusted the box under her arm and straightened out her sweater. She thought it would be cold but it was actually surprisingly warm and sunny. She scanned the yard to see if Cade was here and found him in the corner she walked over to him and bluntly said Here's your gift, a pack of exploding bonbons and some ice cream. I hope your good with raspberry. She then grabbed her card out from her back and handed it to him. Happy birthday...Friend. The card said the following;

She looked up at his face and said. I am leaving this weekend so I won't be around. Feel free to share the gifts with anyone she said with a nod towards the blue and silver wrapped box. She turned around and walked back into the building when she heard a voice cal her name.Dear Cade,
Happy birthday! I know we haven't known each other for long but I believe we are good friends and we can stick together through thick and thin. Once again, happy birthday my friend!

At the late notice to Cade's birthday Rosie got stuck on what to do. There was no time to order something, or to ask a special delivery from her aunts. She had talked with Cade before about the stuffed sweet soda breads, even better at this time of the year when the weather gets colder. The young witch then needed to think of a plan to make a gift herself. She could not give him one of her books, she loved them too much. Maybe a card? A card that sings! But she could not focus on any creative lyrics as sleepy as she was... She would have until four tho, to come up with something. It would be rude to indulge on his mother's delicious pies without bringing something.
Rosie was heading to the courtyard from the clock tower direction when she got a glimpse of Cade and some other girl Rosie didn't knew, she wasn't from Ravenclaw, but Rosie started waving energetically either way. Filling her lungs to say something not too loud, maybe some "hello comrades" to start the afternoon lightly. _He-_...And the girl turned her back and left. Hold on! Wasn't this a gathering? Rosie even arranged her best shoes! She run the rest of the way to Cade. Taking a moment to catch her breath, bending down a little. Wow, academics should really exercise more.
_What is happening?_And she takes a couple more breaths while still holding the gift with her. Cade was already holding onto a blue package, Rosie saw the pies but for now she needed to focus on the situation. _Isn't she joining us?_

@Romah Neobey @Rosie Marricott WillewCade felt like a knife had stabbed his heart. He was rather excited to see Romah, but her usual boisterous energy was not quite there. There had been some dramatic tension between Cade and Romah ever since he let her down at the Masquerade. But Cade wanted with all his being to pass that horrific memory and try to at least talk with Romah. Quickly skimming the card he read what Romah had truly meant to say to him. There was still hope. Before he could rush after her Rosie arrived wearing her best shoes no less. He gave her a bright smile as she approached out of breath.
"Thanks so much for coming, Rosie, it's great to see you again. I'm not quite sure what's going on at the moment. Please make yourself comfortable while I quickly see to my other guest." He felt bad for how this party was starting out. This was not at all how he pictured it going. Cade wanted everyone to feel welcome and happy. Romah's cold bluntness was well deserved but wasn't completely necessary. With that Cade rushed after Romah. "Romie! Wait." She paused letting him catch up with her.
"You wished me a happy birthday on your card, but how can it possibly be happy without you spending time with me? I appreciate the candy and all but I would very much like you to sit and enjoy the party. At least for a little while. I really want us to be friends again." He gave her doe eyes. He hoped what he said would be enough to convince her to stay and maybe make new friends.

Romah slowed down so Cade could catch up. She didn't know what possibly he had to say. She told him what she had too so...know she heard it. She said her part so now it was only right to hear what he wanted to say. "You wished me a happy birthday on your card, but how can it possibly be happy without you spending time with me? I appreciate the candy and all but I would very much like you to sit and enjoy the party. At least for a little while. I really want us to be friends again." Cade said. She sighed. Listen Cade, I think I'm just gonna need some time. You were pretty rough. I just can't deal with this now among other things. She turned to leave and to avoid his puppy dog eyes but then turned back around. For your own information, the way I am acting right now isn't all because of you and the way I feel. I'm sure you would feel the same way if your best friend was gone. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a newspaper clipping. She pressed it into his hand and took a step back. This is what the clipping looked like:
Romah took another step back. Have a nice birthday Cade. ANd off she went.

Interacting with @Rosie Marricott WillewCade stood there for a moment both baffled about Romie and the article. He was utterly confused about who on earth would murder a racehorse? Such a tragedy seemed completely random. He wondered what could be the motive behind such a crime. Was someone trying to get to Romah? Who was it? Why would they try to hurt her or her family? Cade was awfully curious about the whole ordeal. Biting his lip he walked back to where Rosie stood.
"Strange way to start a party. I'm sorry you had to see that." Cade muttered to her. "Romie is having a hard time today." He held up the clipping showing it to Rosie. Cade didn't know that Romah was a horse girl. It made a lot of sense come to think of it now. He sighed and sat down on the picnic blanket."It's an incredibly crazy world out there...I guess it's best not to speak of it now. Would you like some pie, Rosie? Or perhaps some candies?" Cade didn't want to think of any more negative. Today was his day after all.
The crisp November air felt good blowing through Cade's unkempt hair. He smiled knowing that Peggy would be displeased in his appearance. He could almost hear him scolding him now. Cade wondered what she and Astrid were up to now that he was in boarding school. He never had these thoughts before. Could it be that he finally missed them? Cade's last birthday had been quite a busy day. Peggy had planned a surprise party with all these adult wizards. Clearly, she was trying to give Cade a chance to network with people. But Cade didn't really care about such things. Especially as he was turning eleven.

As she observed them talking Rosie got a feel for the photography of mid 90's soap operas, with the lumination of her sun reflecting this grey stone floor, maybe the dramatic scene could use a little rain. She wondered what was happening, it was hard to eardrop, the words she heard did not make much sense. Stop being nosy. She looked the other way as her feet tamped around to pass the moment.
_Oh hello, I was very excited to meet your friends. Mixing people that know you from different places is always fun...Well, I guess not in this case._She pondered while her eyes read the article. _This is exactly what people might mean by parties turning into funerals. I hope she is okay. I have met only so many people from ravenclaw, I was hoping to meet other houses._
Romie, they had similar names! She could bring that up in a conversation on the hallways later, asking how she was. Rosie never had a pet, or...A pet family-friend, but to empathise with situations that do not include you is the real empathy. Way to start a party, I should help Cade maintain the high energy for when the other guests arrive.
"It's an incredibly crazy world out there...I guess it's best not to speak of it now. Would you like some pie, Rosie? Or perhaps some candies?"By the mention of pie she sat down in a strike._Oh your mother's pie...The ultimate desert._She could already smell the cherries, and the gift was yet hanging from her hands._Hold on birthday comrade._She handed him the brown package._Happy birthday! Because not only you HAD to be taller, now you are older too. She laughed trying to get him to stay energized. Inside there was Ravenclaw Styled Gobstones. _I could not give you one of my books, you know how it is. No, don't bother asking, I know you want my Erkling Tales collection. So, as I'm not a gobstones player, you deserve it more. My grandma sent me that, as if the Willew's knew I was gonna get into Ravenclaw. I'm glad you are in ravenclaw too, so there you go._His hair was messy, she recalled the time she first met him, how they both were so tense around the adults, now she got to see more of the everyday relaxed Cade. Sometimes you can plan things and have them seem like they planned you first. She was glad she made the decision to meet him sooner. _Made my part right, now hand me the pie._

Frankly, Arissa was a bit surprised after receiving a letter during breakfast at the Great Hall, and the fact that the owl who received it belong to the school caused a few Slytherins near her to raised their brows. Arissa could barely hid the letter inside her bag from the curious boy that sat next to her at Slytherin Table, who proceed to bombarded her with questions. Unfortunately for her, he was at the Common Room with his friends when she was about to sneak out, and of course continued to pester her. It took a while for her to settle that, and it was the main cause of her being late.
She strode to the supposed venue for the birthday party, and barely managed to avoid crashing into a tall girl with brown hair, who seemed to not notice her presence. Arissa merely shook her head, and proceed to walk to the Courtyard; her grey eyes finally managed to locate a familiar lanky boy, the supposed birthday boy, along with a Ravenclaw girl. With the invitation letter in her hand, Arissa approached the two Ravens, who seemed to be engrossed in their conversation. "Evening, Cade." She greeted. Her eyes then glanced at the brown haired girl. "Good evening to you as well."
Arissa took out the present that she managed to procure before handing it to the boy. In usual case she won't be able to get anything, but she was trained in the art of socializing, and already prepared for occasions that needs a gift such as what happened in this case. A few days after knowing her friend's hobby, she had managed to ask her parents to buy a sketchbook.
A bit cold, perhaps, but giving him a birthday card with a standard 'Happy Birthday Cade, by Arissa Wright' seemed a lot colder that the gift. She was not one that would expressed feelings easily.
"Here is your gift. Do forgive me for my tardiness, Cade. I have some...previous engagement to attend to." More like an annoyance, really, but Arissa won't say it. After all, as arrogant as that boy was, they were allies, and fellow Slytherins.
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."

Interacting with @Rosie Marricott Willew @Arissa Wright"Wow, Rosie!" Cade's eyes widened as he opened the pouch of blue and bronze Gobstones. "This is fantastic! But yes, I have been keeping an eye on your copies of the Erkling Tales." He grinned at her. He picked one out and held it up to the light trying to picture it in action. They had a nice weight and were quality made. Cade was surprised Rosie would let them go in such a fine condition. He would have to teach her the game at some point. He thought she would enjoy the high stakes competitiveness. At the end of a game, the loser gets a fun surprise. The Gobstones squirt out a stinky liquid. Cade remembered signing up for the Hogwarts club a few months back but they must have been at full capacity since he never heard back from them.
"Evening, Cade." He heard from his right. His eyes darted up to see a familiar blonde Slytherin. It was Arissa!
"Arissa so glad you could come. No worries, I'm sure you were busy. Please sit with us." He gestured to a vacant spot on the blanket. She handed him a brown parcel attached with a brief birthday message. Tearing apart the wrappings, his eyes once again widened. "How'd you know?! I was just running out of room in my old sketchbook." A big smile spread across his face. He really made some quality friends. He was glad that he got to know them both.
"Thank you both!" He paused to flip through the fresh pages. He could imagine all the great artworks he would draw inside. The perfectionist side of him was anxious about starting a new sketchbook. He loved having all the pages nice and clean. But soon that side of him would have to be locked away in order to truly harness his creativity. He gave a good dramatic sniff of the paper appreciating the brand new smell."Right... without further ado, let's eat some pie." He got to work on serving them sizable pieces. His mother was closed fisted about serving larger pieces. Mostly because it meant there was less of her hard work to enjoy. Cade thought that was a foolish way to look at it. Having bigger pieces meant that people could enjoy more at once.
