September brought with it the dawn of a new year and with it the cool autumnal breezes. For some the slight chill may have been too much to bear but for Callie it was something to embrace. There was simply something..invigorating and exciting about the autumn. For Callie's twelve year old brain the excitement found it's roots in the fact Halloween was approaching but perhaps as she matured her reasons may grow less..sugary in nature. However her sweet tooth continued to be her downfall and Halloween remained among one of her favourite holidays. It was in fact thoughts of autumn and Halloween that had brought Callie outside in the first place, alongside a mission to find a certain Henry Knight.
Callie hadn't exactly gotten off to the best start when it came to Henry and in truth didn't rate his company very highly. Their encounter at the lake had made her uncomfortable and feel as though she had to reign in her entire personality to make her presence palatable. For someone who was so unapologetically herself doing such a thing was nigh unthinkable. She hid nothing and reigned herself in for almost nothing, where was the fun in pretending to be something you're not? However after seeing Miranda speak to Henry on friendly terms Callie had started to think she may have judged the boy too harshly. After all she rated Miranda's company highly and if she seemed to think Henry was worth talking to then maybe there was some positive aspects to find after all? Just really, really insanely deep down and perhaps buried under a mountain of discomfort.
However Henry was proving to be a difficult person to find, especially in a place as large as Hogwarts. So Callie had brought herself into the courtyard to regain her thoughts for a moment but instead got distracted by a particularly odd looking cloud. So he stood in the centre of the courtyard with her head tilted skyward, trying to figure out what on earth the cloud seemed to look like.

Henry was spending more and more time alone these days as his thoughts trailed to his hidden life and family but also his worries as well. The boy kept himself isolated and cut of from other even after others give him advice not to, it's like he hadn't listened to them or didn't care when he really did it was just he couldn't handle other talking to him about these things and so that led him to isolate himself and stay alone with his thoughts as time went by. Although he wasn't totally isolated because he had Logan and a few others but all and all he basically was isolating himself from others.
The boy was dressed in his worn out jeans, long sleeve grey shirt, and faded greenish jacket. He left his messager type bag in his dormitory as he made his way to the courtyard and looked for a spot. Henry eventually found a large oak in the corner of the courtyard and away from others, as Henry easily climbed the tree and pulled himself onto a branch that was a few feet off the ground and could easily see the black lake. Henry leaned his head and side onto the trunk, trucked his left foot and leg under his right and bended his right knee to rest his right foot on the branch. He wasn't completely balanced but didn't care as he sat there with his eyes closed and for a moment in complete peace.

Peace and quiet? Not on Callie's watch! Her cloud related thoughts didn't last very long and after concluding that the cloud in question did in fact look like a malformed rabbit opted to hang around the courtyard for a while. The autumnal air was crisp and cool, something which Callie revelled in as she wandered around the area. As she wandered around her coat billowed around and Callie seemed to briefly forget the entire reason she'd brought herself to the courtyard in the first place. It wasn't until Callie managed to trip up over a loose cobblestone that sent her stumbling towards a large oak in the corner of the courtyard.
Sadly Callie landed face first against the trunk and managed to break the leg of her glasses in the process. Callie spent a couple minutes lamenting the loss of yet another pair of glasses before pulling out her cherry wood wand. Thankfully situations like these no longer meant a few weeks of wandering around with broken glasses ever since Callie took the time to learn a spell that fixed the issue. However before she could even cast the spell a blurry green blob shifted above her in the tree, prompting a slight squeal from Callie. Was there someone else here? Or was the tree simply alive! Who knew? Certainly not Callie, she couldn't even see! "Gah, please don't kill me weird green blob thing!" Callie exclaimed loudly as she brought the broken glasses up to her eyes to allow her to realise it was in fact Henry and not a killer tree. "Oh it's...you!" A slight red tinge crept up onto Callie's cheeks as a result of realising he would've witnessed the entire ordeal. "Hey Henry, what's up?" She gave him a pleasant wave, not entirely aware of how loud she was being.

It's funny how things can be view differently by different people but yet others still can understand or know what someone else is going through but are they or do they really. Do people really understand or is that just their sympathy for someone, nothing real just sympathy for someone that they view as weak or worse off than themselves. Actually maybe they view them as a freak, someone who's going through something that spends their time alone from others and so others view that person as a freak or someone that shouldn't be bothered. People and emotions are more complicated than what others think, who ever said that understanding someone was easy because it's not and people tend to make mistakes about all of this.
As these thoughts spiraled in his mind, a loud squeal type sound was heard from below and startled Henry that instead of turning around he fall back and off the tree, turning around in midair as he landed on his stomach and face on the hard ground. Luckily he was only a few feet above the ground so he wouldn't have had a any serious injuries maybe just a broken wrist or something, as Henry pushed himself up with a pain from his wrist that shot threw it he looked up and saw Callie standing there with a smile.
Henry dusted himself off as he placed his messager type bag on his shoulder, his left cheek was still a bit red and his bottom lip seemed to have been swollen as well as his left wrist was seriously hurting but lucky for him he could easily hide his emotions as he spoke with a blank face and small smile " uh Callie right?" he took a breath before continuing " how have you been?"

The last thing Callie was expecting was to accidentally make Henry tumble from the tree but lately life had a way of surprising her. Man, she really had to stop meeting people like this! This was the second tree related incident! Maybe Callie should just avoid yelling at people perched up on trees, not that she'd ever think of doing so however. "OH MY GOD ARE YOU OKAY? YOU PANCAKED." Callie exclaimed as he rushed over to check if the boy was alright. He may have been quiet and come across as slightly uppity and rude in the past but that didn't mean Callie liked to see him get hurt! Especially since his lip appeared to be swelling and he landed rather brutally on his wrist. Callie had broken her own wrist and fallen from trees more than enough to recognise when something could result in a broken bone. Thankfully the girl was putting in extra effort in Charms and had already managed to teach herself the bandaging charm a couple of days prior. She just hadn't exactly expected to have to make use of it so soon, especially on someone like Henry.
"You landed pretty hard on your wrist are you sure you're alright? That kind of fall can break stuff like that, trust me I've done it before!" Callie frowned, clearly concerned for the boys welfare. "Oh, yep! I'm Callie! Sorry, I didn't mean to give you a fright. I just can't exactly see very well without my glasses..AH! I haven't even repaired them yet! Sorry I need a second.." Callie lay down the broken glasses on the cobblestones before pulling out her cherry wood wand. "Occulus Reparo." She blurted out whilst pointing her wand to the glasses in question and quickly placing them back on her face afterwards. "I'm fine! Dandy even! I'm more concerned about you!"

As Henry ran a hand through his hair to push it back, Callie seemed to run over to him screaming again as he took a step back from her and spoke again with a blank face and small smile " I'm fine, don't worry about it," Henry rubbed his cheek a bit and after a few minutes the redness on his cheek faded and went back to it's normal tanish self as his bottom lip was still a bit swollen and his left wrist didn't quite feel alright but he was able to keep his composure as he listened to Callie speak about falling and breaking bone which were two things that this boy knew perfectly, because it either happened to him or his twin sister except his twin's injuries were usually worse then this.
" I'm fine, don't worry and I experience a broken bone or two from following off a tree before to,"the girl then went on to say that she was Callie and that she can see without glasses, something that Henry was always thankful that he had perfect vision, before Callie performed the eyeglass repair charm on the glasses and fixed them the before turning to him and asking if he was alright again.
" I'm fine alright, don't worry," Henry spoke as he never did like people fussing or taking care of him, that kind of thing always bothered the boy who after his mum died rarely ever seen his father and so the only person he allowed to fuse or care for him was his older brother. Henry then looked at Callie and thought that maybe he seen her somewhere else, like at the advanced charms lessons that weren't actually advanced for Henry since many of the charms that their learning in those extra lessons his brother already taught him before he spoke " your in those advance charm lessons right? I'm in them to, didn't you chose to study the bandaging charm last class? I chose the summoning charm, which wasn't that bad since my brother already taught me it."

Callie wasn't at all convinced by Henry's protests that he was completely fine, she'd pancaked far too many times herself to even consider that he'd bounced back from that fall unscathed. Clearly more dire methods were needed to convince Henry to stop lying about his own injuries but Callie was far too nice and far too distraught to even consider them. She was the reason he'd fallen from the tree to begin with! Henry wasn't exactly the first person she'd successfully caused to tumble from a tree and injure themselves, so naturally she felt more than a little bit guilty about the circumstances. Perhaps she should simply start avoiding trees!
Callie quickly waved away the thought and instinctively twirled her wand around in her fingers as she thought things over. "I'm not convinced!" Callie announced rather suddenly as she pointed to Henry's wrist with the tip of her wand. "I've pancaked far too many times to think that you haven't injured yourself Henry!" Henry may not have liked people fussing over him but that certainly wasn't going to stop Callie, a notorious fusser over of people. "Oh the advanced classes? Yeah, I'm in those! I thought it would be a great idea to learn Ferula last time since I'm friends with Thomas and Elias and they get injured SOOOOO OFTEN. Weird right? Even if most of the time it's at the hands of each other but that's beyond the point." Callie rambled all whilst twirling her wand around to keep her hands busy. "Ah, I'm getting off topic! Are you positive you're alright? 100% certain? Don't lie to me, I can help! If you're uh..willing to let me use that charm on you..but I promise I've gotten super good at it now!" Callie gave Henry a thumbs up to provide some degree of reassurance.

When Callie spoke again, this time saying that she wasn't convinced and using that word pancaked again. Henry never heard the expression before or used it himself like most things. That was mostly because before Hogwarts he really didn't talk to anyone else besides his family and a few close friends who didn't use that expression either so he spoke " I'm fine, really and uh what do you mean by pancaked? Pancake is the breakfast food unless is there another definition that isn't in the English or Latin dictionaries and books that I read at home," Henry knew he was a geek and a bit of a know it all so he quickly spoke "sorry if I'm weirding you out, others would call me a geek or a know it all which I guess I'm both at times."
Callie then spoke about learning the bandaging charm while trialing her wand, Henry kept his friendly smile but in his mind he thought that the girl could speak a lot which he couldn't dwell on long since she then turned to him asking if she should use it on his left wrist. Henry then spoke up " I fallen from trees before when I was longer and the same with my twin, so I know how to handle then don't worry," Henry then looked at his left wrist as a million thoughts floated into his mind. He really didn't want her to cast it and he already could or probably could cast it himself since his brother taught him the charm three or so years ago but it also could have dire consequences if it was messed up however he hated when others fussed over him or cared for him but the wrappings could help his wrist and he kept on hearing his brother's voice in the back of his head telling him to care for his injury.
While he loved his brother, he also hated the fact that most things that made him uncomfortable his brother was perfectly comfortable during them, after a long thought process Henry then spoke " so I'm guessing you don't know episkey or any healing spells yet? I studied and read about them but I don't think I want to try casting them yet especially on a broken bone or myself," Henry then held his left wrist out a bit " if your sure you got the spell then give it a go," Henry took a breath before adding " you know the pronunciation right? And would knowing the geek or Latin root help you cast it? Sorry, like I said I'm a bit of a geek," Henry gave the girl a guilty smile before speaking again " and just so you know I'm only agreeing to this because I feel like I could hear my brother nagging me to look after my self," Henry laughed a bit as he waited for her to cast the spell.

"You don't know what pancaked means?" Callie questioned despite being mildly shocked not everyone was fully aware of what the word meant since it was a phrase she and her brother used so often. "It's basically when you fall over and flat on the ground, you know like a pancake!" To emphasise her point even further Callie made some accompanying hand gestures vaguely resembling someone splatting face first onto the ground. When Henry started apologising for being a bit of a know it all Callie couldn't help but laugh. "You think you're a know it all? I'm in Ravenclaw! An entire house of know it alls! No need to apologise for that Mr Pancake." Callie noted with a pleasant smile across her face, clearly not harbouring any resentment towards her housemates. Afterall Callie had grown to feel entirely at home within Ravenclaw and made friends with a fair chunk of her housemates.
For someone as clumsy as Callie it was a wonder she hadn't managed to drop her wand yet considering she was still twirling it as she spoke. It was a comforting gesture for the girl since she was a hopeless fidget who almost constantly needed to keep her hands busy. It wasn't a mannerism of hers that was easy to miss considering she was always fidgeting in one way or another. "If you know how to handle them, let me help! Having a hurt wrist is no good to anyone, silly." Callie laughed as she adjusted her glasses to sit properly on her face. "Episkey? Heck no, it's still early days yet! I'm not that good yet." Callie admitted with a sheepish grin, slightly embarrassed at her general lack of knowledge. Ever since starting at Hogwarts she felt at a disadvantage to everyone as a result of being muggle-born and subsequently a huge urge to overload herself with work to catch up. Even after a year within Hogwarts' walls and outstanding grades to showcase her own talent she still felt incredibly nervous about casting spells. What if she messed up? What if she hurt someone on accident? What if she did something wrong? Would people laugh? Thankfully Callie's own spiral of self doubt was quickly cut short by Henry and her usual easy going grin crept back onto her face. "Of course I know how to pronounce it! I wouldn't be offering if I didn't!" Callie defended with a mild huff as she pointed her wand at Henry's impacted wrist. "Ferula." Thankfully Callie didn't stumble over the spell in her own nervousness and cast the spell without a hitch, returning her wand to it's spot in her pocket shortly afterward. "You'll probably still need to go to the nurse though.."

When Callie first question how he doesn't know what the word pancaked meant, Henry kept his composure as to not say anything to her which was a good thing since she explained the definition in which Henry nodded " alright, I think I understand. I'm assuming you use that expression a lot then?" He then heard Callie mention that she was a ravenclaw and in a house full of know it all's so Henry replied " the sorting hat was about to put me in ravenclaw actually but in the end changed its mind," He then heard Callie mentioned his hurt left wrist which he now noticed that he was holding a bit up now as he spoke " again I'm fine, I'm only allowing you to cast the spell because I rather not write to my brother telling him I can't write for a while because my wrist is broken," however when Callie mentioned that she didn't know episkey, Henry then spoke " I can't cast it either but I know all about the spell and my brother can cast it almost perfectly."
When Callie spoke again, he felt sort of bad since he did sort of insult her so he spoke " I'm sorry about asking you if you knew the pronunciation and what not," Callie then seemed to cast the spell and Henry some pressure on his left wrist a as the bandage wrapped around his left wrist and Henry then placed his arm down at his side and heard Callie mentioned the nurse in which he spoke while laughing a bit " there is no bloody way that I'm going to the hospital wing."
