Carolin 'Lynn' Bishop - MAIN CHARACTER WC TOTAL- 1250/1000

-----Appearence: Reducio When you look at Carolin Ruth Bishop, she looks a bit older than your average sophomore. With her dance experience and skill, you would expect her to be much slimmer. However, the weekly milkshakes at the beach don’t help so much. In the past few years, she has stressed less and less about her appearance, so she no longer has the ‘ideal’ body. But to make up for that loss, her confidence has soared to the point that she looks beautiful despite her slightly overweight frame.   Lynn has mid back length silky brown hair that she added blonde highlights last summer after her friends’ pestering. She sports captivating light blue eyes that always give her emotions away. Her eyelashes are long but so pale that she wears mascara to prove that they actually exist. (The mascara is the only make up she wears these days)   The 10th grader also has acne prone skin that she constantly has to clean to keep herself from descending into the teenage skin issues. Her skin is pleasantly tan from her time on the beach. She wasn’t one to purposely tan, but it still happened from the sheer hours being outside in the Florida sun.   Overall, her confidence adds much to her outward appearance. She is a pretty girl, but not one to flaunt or show it off.   On an average day, her fashion is best described as 'soft'. She tends to wear pale and light colored sweatshirts and jeggings although she feels comfortable and looks great in sweaters, skirts, and overalls.

-----Personality: Reducio Carolin is a quiet girl. Most describe her as a wallflower girl, even though she wouldn't describe herself as quiet. Lynn is often absorbed in her thoughts and that makes it a bit harder than others to start up a conversation. At the first glance, she is often so caught in her thoughts or bent focused over her journal that most wouldn’t give her a second thought or be daring enough to break into her personal bubble. She doesn't often smile, but when she does, it can brighten a room.   In public, without anyone around, you can often find her bent over a journal filled with song lyrics, monologues, school notes, and random journal entries. When she isn’t absorbed into the world of her own creation, she is quietly observing exchanges between people around her with a contemplative look on her face.   However, once you get to know her, Lynn transforms into a totally different person. She is openly honest about everything (sometimes to a fault). It doesn’t take too much to get into her friend group, but if you ever break her trust, there is almost no chance she will ever trust you or want to be around you again. She tends to have a positive attitude and is often with a witty comment or a sarcastic comment to break the tension.   There are only a few people Lynn doesn’t like, and she does everything in her power to stay away from them. She will even leave a group or an event if they show their faces. However, moving to a new school has given her the opportunity to avoid anything relating to that.

-----Home Fam Reducio Carolin has always been tight with her family. She has an older brother, but they never really talk since he is five years older and across the country in collage. That just gives her the opportunity to be closer to her parents. Lynn is much closer to her dad than her mom, although they both did their best.   Esma Bishop, Carolin’s mom, is a jewelry maker who sells her stuff online and although it’s a job that would allow her to stay home, she is often out combing beaches for sea glass or searching for inspiration or meeting with people. On weekends, she has a stall at the local farmers market. She offers Lynn to tag along, but she usually declines to instead walk at the beach or work on her acting some.   Daniel Bishop, Carolin’s dad, works as a manager at a local water sport shop. Lynn learned to surf from him and finds recluse in the familiar aisles and displays. The upstairs of the shop has a window seat viewing out towards the ocean that Lynn always sits at. Because she loves the shop so much, she grew closer to her dad.

--Friends/Interests: Reducio Carolin had a tight enough group at her old school. She was liked by enough people that she drifted through the cliques without many giving her a second thought.   Carolin’s love of music started with her love of dance that led her life from third grade through ninth grade. She danced competitively for the last four years and quit after a muscle tear in her leg (and finances became more of a trouble). Quinn Lesly, her old dance friend still kept in touch over the summer and went a couple times to surf at the beach.   Lynn connected to the band kids last year through her love of music and minimal guitar skills. Her song writing got her a special in for the group. She even wrote one of the bands ‘Seaside Surf’ their lead song that led them to be discovered through the city for their park performance last Spring. Song writing was only one of Lynn’s many interests.   After the tear from her dancing, she took up acting. Her new friend, Linsey Addams showed her the ropes. Linsey had been in a commercial a few years past and that gained her the fame and popularity in the Thespian Society. When Linsey showed up with Carolin, the group was fast to accept her. Lynn had even got a part in a Summer Performance of ‘Mama Mia’ that so many people had been to.   Besides Quinn from dancing and Linsey from acting, Carolin had a few other people she held close. She had become a mentor for a younger student, Susan Wamber, at her old school. Lynn had been best friends with Chey for as long as she remembered, however, when Chey became extremely jealous about Lynn’s acceptance to Searook Academy, Lynn stopped talking and cut off all ties to her ex-best friend. Carolin had a ‘boyfriend’ (more of a crush that ended up being both ways) for a few months the start of her Freshman year, but he had moved away and Lynn hadn’t heard from him all summer.

--------Other: Reducio Carolin’s favorite color is the ocean in the crescendo of the sunrise. The pale, turbulent blue is the same color as her eyes. The coincidence earned her the pet name Ocean Eyes, but hardly anyone remembered her by that anymore. Lynn’s favorite animal is a turtle (as basic as that seems) she was a big advocate for them after seeing one beached with a plastic bag over its fin. Soon after she became a turtle fan, the entire world seemed to become obsessed with them as well. Lynn is always at the beach or wandering down Coral Avenue. If she doesn’t have her journal, it means she is out surfing. Some people used to joke that they wouldn’t recognize her without her journal. Carolin’s favorite meal is anything seafood even though her parents can never afford it. She took up a job at the start of the year teaching a dance class for kids down by the beach. It will last through October. It will give her the money to go do things with her friends at Searook Prep and buy her weekly milkshakes.

Chapter By Chapter

Fair warning, this bit is not user friendly because I just wrote it how I plan my books/short stories. Sorry if nothing makes since, I guess you'll have to wait for the book to be posted!

Chapter 1
Carolin Bishop is transferring from the public school in Searook to Searook Prep. Her parents were never rich, but they weren't poor either. Her grades were good enough that she was placed in the raffle. She got chosen in the end of last year and the summer passed quickly. The book opens with Lynn coming home from school early September.

At this time, Lynn is about to start her first ever surfing lesson. A girl she used to mentor will be there, Ashby Mirren. They will catch up and get through the first lesson. Her phone will buzz at the end and she will read a text telling her to meet someone at someplace.

Chapter 2
The text was addressed to her, her best friend, Ashby, and her ex-crush-almost-boyfriend that she now doesn't trust. Xavier will reach out outside of the mysterious chat and she will reluctantly meet him at the smoothie shop they used to go to each Friday. The scene will be tense and Lynn will end up riling him up only to have best friend come in the shop.

She will find them and sit down, squashing the previously simmering emotions. She will be oblivious to what was going on, in reality she is shipping them hard-core, but she is also really good at hiding it. Scene will close as Lynn walks home alone.

Chapter 3
All four of them show up at the place the text told them to go to, one of the stores on Coral Avenue. Nothing happens for a while and they start arguing. Each blaming the other for different things. A mysterious girl, 20's appears and stops their arguing.

She tells them that they have been chosen from the school to partake in an event that is a surprise for the rest of the school (BIG FAT LIE) Linsey will see right through the lie and pull Lynn aside to tell her what she thinks.

Lady disappears and everyone is silent for a bit, caught in their thoughts. They agree to meet lady at the place she told them to.

Chapter 4
Carolin is woken by her parents arguing again. She is writing a song and humming after school when Xavier finds her again. She refuses to acknowledge the spark of a crush that she feels and pushes away from him.

Lynn and Xavier end up going the same way home and run into Lindsey being pulled into a car by shading looking people. Another lady will show up and start like ninja-ing the shady people and drag Linsey and the rest away from there.

The original lady shows up and ninja lady leaves, long discussion about what is going on and that they are in danger because this secret society has a mole that leaked that them four were the new candidates. They need to find who the mole is.

Chapter 5
Lynn is just walking through the park with her songbook humming to herself when she hears some noise from just off the path, sounds like arguing. World goes black.
Lynn wakes up in the back of a car. She was captured! She lies low, paying attention to as much as she can. She is dragged into a facility but manages to send a text to the group chat with phone that guards missed. Friends show up in cool high-tech gear but all end up captured. Including mystery-ninja-lady who finally introduces herself as Katlyn Merro.

Xavier picks the lock to the door and they are now inside the facility.

Chapter 6
They end up splitting up (accidentally) and Ashby and Lynn end up overhearing a meeting. The ninja lady is leading the meeting and they discover that she was the mole that they needed to know. The people see them and there is an epic chase.

The facility is basically just an office building set up to disguise mysterious rooms and most floors are vacant which only makes it easier for the bad people to chase them. They end up hiding under a desk and watching the bad guys pass. Lynn hears Xavier talking.

Chapter 7
They all meet up and the 'bad guys' are still chasing. More epic chasing scenes that will take a lot to write. Maybe some hand to hand combat if I really feel like it. They manage to escape the building, perhaps through a doggy door or something fun like that.

Katlyn calls up a car and there is more talking about that they are a secret task force and this basically counts as their induction to the society. They all talk amongst themselves.

Chapter 8
They get another mysterious message but this time it is from a different person. The kids all meet the dude wherever he tells to meet them and this time they are all confidant and stuff. The man leads them in a cool entrance into the main area. Everyone is super fascinated.

More talking about what the organization is about and how they are protecting the city and keeping the wildlife safe and hiding the knowledge of a dangerous animal, but then they are told to forget that he ever said that because he wasn’t supposed to tell them and everyone thinks it’s a joke. even though it is NOT

They meet up with Katlyn and she gives them each a necklace that they are required to wear all the time that has a tracker on it so the organization can find them if needed.

Chapter 9
The group is put in another simulator to escape something and they start secret training. Some easy villain enters the training facility and they defeat him with no trouble. They move up a rank or something, ranks might be nice. They find out that Xavier's dad is like a criminal mastermind dude but are told that strictly it is not intel they are permitted to view until a distant level.

Crush make up and trust one another. Best friends promise to keep in touch. They leave the training and are told to pay attention to their phones for when they get their next call.

Chapter 10
Everything is back to 'real life'. Lynn is always waiting for her phone to buzz, but it hasn't for a week. Her training has been delivered via workouts on text that she does by herself. Besides that, she is chatting with Linsey after school, Ashby at surfing, crush over milkshakes.

Last scene is surfing and she comes into shore and hears her phone buzzing like crazy from the towel on the beach.



End of part one! This will theoretically be what I get done for November because I doubt this will be the whole 50k. If I manage to finish this, then I may add a part two and introduce dragons, but this may become a longer slower Part 2, not for the errand but simply so I can write! Tell me if you decide to follow along with my story! I'd love to know!

Searook and House - SETTING WC TOTAL - 1159/1000

----Searook: Reducio Basic Overview- Searook is a beach city in the Florida Keys. An average day is long and humid, it is the epitome of tropical luxury. The main draws of the city are the beach, surfing, and the small boutiques along Coral Avenue. It is a smaller city, but a tight knit community where you can recognize most people, but not close enough that you would know their names. It isn't much of a tourist city as a few other ones closer are more vacation friendly, so the beaches aren't terribly crowded. Overall, anyone who lives there would agree that Searook is a pretty wonderful place to live.   Coral Park- At any given time, there are at least a dozen elementary aged kids playing at the Coral Park. It is located just off of Coral Avenue and a short walk from the beach so its never too far away. There are several play structures constantly teeming with kids. The trails curved through the semi wooded few acres that mothers often walked kids in strollers. The ice cream truck is almost constantly parked there with it's happy chimes making money off of the sugar craving children. The park is in pretty good shape after the charity walk last year to redo the walkways and add a water park section.   Coral Avenue- Coral Avenue is the go-to place for people of all ages. The street is lined with small boutiques and art galleries and thrift shops. The road has no car access so the brick street is always full of wandering people. There are often street performers with guitars or just their voice filling the area with music and talent.   Children enjoy the candy and ice cream store and the proximity to the park. Older students enjoy the shopping and the coffee store that sells the best milkshakes. Adults love to shop and walk around and visit the small stores. It is often a family area that is safe enough that even the most concerned parents allow their children there.   In the evenings, restaurants move their tables and chairs into the street and the whole avenue lights up with yellow tinted string lights hidden during the day. Bands and school performances often preform during this time and it is a wonderful time to catch up and soak up the city.   Miss Cheri's Vintage Shop has everything from old phones to guitars. The go-to place for clothes is Paisley's Palace that has the most unique outfits, all local. Salley's Scents is a beauty store that has the best smelling soaps and bath bombs and lotions you could ever imagine. If you are looking for house décor Bric-a-brac Boutique is the place to go. Harold's Harware, unlikely enough has the best honeycomb in the world.   Beach- The beach is one of the top draws to Searook. The waves are surprisingly clean and clear of trash. The beaches are sandy and large. The ocean is warm. Most days are sunny and perfect for splashing in the waves or resting on the warm sand.   There are several spots along the shore that are perfect for surfing and are constantly sporting surfers of different skills. There are also several coves that you have to get your feet wet in order to reach. The surfing in those areas are always the best. The waves are tall and slow and even in storms are never too dangerous.   On any given day there are people on the beach tanning or playing volleyball or swimming. It is a common meeting place for people of all ages and even in the rainy days there are always people there. The beach is almost as much as popular as Coral Avenue just for the relaxation and fun.   In low tide, it is common to find parts of sand dollars, shells, clams, starfish and jelly fish if you are lucky and gorgeous smoothed rocks. Just as the sun sets, the birds fly in and surround the edge of the water in a silent symphony that is breathtaking for the beholder.    The smoothie stand is often set up at the main entrance to the beach. The worker, Kiley Anderson, serves fresh fruit mango, raspberry, strawberry, and peach smoothies. The perfect refreshing treat for a warm day at the beach.

----House: Reducio Neighborhood: Carolin's family has never been poor, but in Searook, they have been on the lower end of things. Their house is smaller than most others and was in much poorer shape when they bought it when Lynn was born. Over the years they have afforded to do small renovations, but it will never be as large as other houses. Thankfully, their neighborhood is tight knit. It's one of those areas where you could come to the door asking for a 1/4 cup of sugar to finish your cookie dough and anyone would just let you in to get the sugar and probably end up stopping you and offering you a cup of tea and a lovely chat.   House/Lynn's Room: Carolin's house is roughly 1000 square feet. But what it lacks in size, it bonuses in a rather large yard compared to the houses around hers. It is made of five main rooms. A combined kitchen/dining/living room on the left of the entrance and a hallway leading to a master bedroom, two smaller bedrooms and a bathroom.   Lynn finally moved out of her joined room with her brother when he moved away and was able to paint her room. One wall is now a gradient from pure white on the ceiling to the light blue of her eyes on the floor. Her single bed takes up a large portion of her room. It has a pull out drawers that are stuffed with everything that would otherwise be all around her room. The bed contains her mess. She also has a wall covered in a mirror so she can practice her dancing.   The Surf Shop: The Surf Shop is where Carolin's father, Daniel, works. The shop is the go-to spot for people to find anything they need for water sports. It has an array of bogey boards, surfboards, and fishing supplies. The aisles are so familiar to Lynn as she is often found hanging around the shop helping stock the shelves or just resting on the window seat upstairs that overlooks the beach.   Lynn even helped paint the majority of the wall behind the register that is a mural of a large ocean wave with surfers gliding down it. The Surf Shop is more of a home than her home is most of the time. (A part of the reason is Daniel's coworker Sam brings his Golden Retriever Sandy every day)

Linsey, Ashby, and Xavier - SIDE CHARACTER WC TOTAL- 957/900

-----Linsey Addams: Reducio Linsey Addams is Lynn's best friend from Acting. She had been a part of a commercial for cereal that went across the country. After that, Linsey became well known in the school and a whole new rank of popularity with the acting kids. She got the lead in the school play two years in a row and was the lead of the Drama Club in middle school. Her angelic voice also got her top voted at the Talent Show. Linsey is a nice girl with bleached blonde hair to her shoulders and inquisitive green eyes. She has a small frame, pretty athletic from stage work. Her light voice carries in a crowd and she has a distinctive laugh. She is often found wearing sweatshirts from plays or musicals she has been in or from ones she has seen. Linsey met Lynn at school and urged her to join the Thespian Society. She took Lynn under her wing and rose her up the ranks of social in the actors without Lynn even noticing. She made Lynn her fun pet project always bringing up improv and monologues to challenge the both of them. It wasn't long before Carolin became more than a pet project and more like a best friend. Linsey now thinks of Lynn as her top confidant and is confidant that the emotion is both ways. Over the summer, Lynn and Linsey became even closer friends. Linsey teaching Lynn acting skills in return for surfing lessons. They made the tradition together to get milkshakes every Friday. Lynn would get guava with cream and Linsey would get strawberry shortcake. Linsey was sad to hear that Carolin was leaving the school, but unlike some of Lynn's friends, she was happy for her. They knew that there was still plenty that she could do at Searook Prep and Linsey has already applied to get into the acting program there as they are occasionally open to people from other schools who are talented to join their program.

-----Ashby Mirren: Reducio Ashby Mirren was assigned to Carolin at her old school to be mentored by her. They hit it off and soon it became more than a mentorship but more like a friendship. It was a bit hard since Lynn was three years older, but they made up for the age difference with common interests. They both enjoyed singing and dancing and did so together all the time after school. Lynn nicknamed Ashby 'Bumblebee' and even though at first Ashby resented it, she soon learned to accept it and now giggles every time Lynn calls her that. Ashby is tall for her age, but still a few inches shorter than Carolin. She has short curly brown hair and dark skin with inquisitive chocolate eyes. Her giggle is sweet and she is never afraid to smile and face the world with a brave attitude, always ready for the next big thing. She had recently gone into remission after three years from leukemia and is always proud of her growing hair. Carolin was right beside Ashby her last treatment and learned a lot from how it all works. Carolin was the first person from school to find out about the cancer and has been so supportive that Ashby is no longer embarrassed about it. Ashby thinks extremely highly of Lynn and thinks of her as the older sister she never had. It was really tough this summer knowing that they wouldn't be able to hang out together as much, but they still kept a special bond. They decided to write each other letters at least three times a month and slip them in each other's mailbox to keep in touch the old fashioned way. Ashby continues to look forward to the next time that they could be together. Ashby signed up for the surf lesson's Carolin is hosting, not that Lynn knows. And plans to surprise her and hopefully make surfing lessons that much more fun.

-----Xavier Brentwood: Reducio Carolin's brother brought his friend over to the house almost every day. One time, the friend's younger brother Xavier tagged along too. Lynn and Xavier hit it off, finding the common interest of surfing. They started out as friends and Lynn a long time to figure out that she had a crush on him too. They kissed once at the end of school, he found her on the last day of school before Lynn was transferring to Searook Prep. Xavier has a mop of unruly light brown hair and tanned skin from hours cruising the waves. He stands a few inches taller than Lynn although his bubbly personality sometimes made it seem that he was taller. He has a constant grin on his face and is quick with a witty comment or joke. It doesn't take much to get him angry, but Lynn has never seen him that way. Xavier and Carolin didn't keep very close contact over the summer. He, however, has always gone to Seaside Prep and secretly is looking forward to the opportunity to see her again. Carolin thought that he doesn't like her anymore, but the truth is, he just lost her number and didn't know her address so had no way to contact her over the summer. He saw her once out surfing but didn't have the time to go out and say hi. His parents are really rich and don't want him to hand out with her, so he is being pulled in both directions. His dad is also the mayor of the city. Carolin, however, doesn't know any of this. She only thinks that they haven't had any classes together and is very busy. This all won't be a secret for long though, especially since their worlds are about to be flipped upside down.

Divorce & Romance - SIDE PLOT WC TOTAL - 1057/1000

----Divorce Reducio Carolin's parents never really have an incredibly stable marriage. From the moment that they said their vows, both sides of the family vied for them to move where they were. Daniel's family lives in Florida while Esma's family lives in Minnesota. So, instead of living in one place and always being torn in two, her parents moved to California. However, over the years, family was quick to stir up their parents, making them feel guilty and posing them against one another. ~~~ Daniel grew up in a poor family, always at work trying to get enough money to help his family. Washing cars, doing yard work, walking dogs. When he was old enough he joined the military for four years, he did oversea work for the Navy and hated every moment of it. When he came back, he found Esma while working at a diner. They got married and settled in to California and worked at the Surf Shop. He was always working. And that was the one thing that set Esma off. She felt like it was her responsibility to take care of the children and she also had to work. What started out as her picking on him escalated to him feeling like she didn't appreciate the work he put into everything. Hurt feeling and accusation created a rift. Carolin always meshed with her dad better. It was a long time before she realized that they were fighting and when she did, she unknowingly chose her dad's side. Esma saw this and resented her for it. ~~~ Esma grew up in a farm home. She always found a way to get out of work and avoid getting her hands dirty. She had enough siblings that she could always disappear if she wanted. Because that was so easy for her to do, she was always in search of something stable that deeply cared for her. She found a job at the diner trying to distance herself from the farm and met Daniel. When he gave her the attention she had wanted, she began to cling to him. Esma became frustrated when Daniel volunteered to work longer hours at the shop. She felt like he was neglecting responsibility with the kids. She started approaching the subject subtly but he didn't pick up on her feelings until much later. By that time she had struggled with the kids so much that she was burnt out. When her daughter (her secret favorite) chose to spend more time with her dad, Esma was devastated. It appeared to Daniel that she was pushing away even though she was just dealing with a lot that he didn't care to listen to her talking about. ~~~ It took Esma and Daniel a long time to realize that their love for each other was wearing dangerously thin. They couldn't agree on anything and simple things like forgetting to put glasses of water on the table quickly escalated into full blown fights. Because of the disagreements, Carolin's brother left the house early, leaving Lynn alone with the fighting. She has been taking it really hard and felt guiltily relieved when her parents finally signed the divorce papers. Through the course of the story, Carolin will fight with giving her parents both equal time and eventually find that her life can be stable without her parents together.

----Romance: Reducio Carolin's brother, Jared, brought his friend Simon over to their house almost every day. They would lock themselves in Jared's room and do who knows what for hours. Often loud music, shouting, and raucous laughter would escape the thick walls of his room and Lynn was left to wander out on Coral Avenue or some other place. One time, however, Simon brought his younger brother Xavier along with. He left the room to grab a snack from the kitchen and ended up in Carolin's room, lost and not wanting to be with the older boys. Him and Lynn connected that afternoon over the shared interest of surfing. Lynn never saw Xavier at school, although she did look quite a bit. The only time he would show up would be whenever he decided to tag along with his brother. This happened more and more frequently as time went on until they were meeting almost every day. One thing that they never talked about was family life. It was an unsaid pact to never talk about it. Xavier heard some of the budding arguments between her parents and Lynn heard a bit about his troubled family life. However, when they were together, it was a topic they clearly avoided. It didn't start out as a crush. In fact, it took Lynn nearly 4 months to realize that she actually liked him. She just thought they were close friends that enjoyed milkshakes, surfing, and enjoyed listening to her songs. It was only when he found her on the last day of school to kiss her that she fully realized. None of Lynn's friends really knew about the crush until they witnessed the kiss. After that, they pressured Lynn incessantly to talk to him or find him and make it something more. Lynn quickly realized that she had no clue what she was doing. Despite her minimal effort, they lost contact over the summer. She didn't know where he lived and they kept missing each other in the places they both frequented. When Lynn starts at Searook Prep, she will find that he is a popular boy there. She will immediately expect the worse and refuse to give him the light of day. The reason he never told her that he went there was because he was afraid she would resent him. And resent him she will, expecting that he had a girlfriend or something since he was so popular and appeared to be one of the boys who did that. They will start to resent one another until they both are dragged into the story and have to find a way to trust each other. And eventually find the little spark of love that the crush creates once more. At the end of the story, their relationship will develop into a trust in each other that is an important role in the story. They will not become girlfriend and boyfriend, but the end of the story will elude that this might happen in the future.
