Desperate Measures
It had been a eventful day of classes today. The Gryffindor girl was almost halfway through her second year at the castle and seemed to be quite settled in by now. Sure, you ran into the occasional obstacle here and there but she had kept on her steady feet and kept trudging along. Rounding a corner, she whisked past a growing number of students who snickered as she passed into the Trophy Room. She usually came here to reflect on past achievments and how lucky she was to attend such a prestigous school. It was remarkable really that Elena was here at all, her parents had though to their displeasure allowed her to attend and she was living up to their standards...so far. The sound of voices growing closer caused her to turn and raise an eyebrow. Three more students had entered the room behind them the door closing behind them. She recgonized them as classmates from her Charms class all Ravenclaws but not the brightest either. They were the troublemaker sort, it beat her how they had ended up in the house of nerds.
"Oh! Didn't expect to see you all here..this is quite a surprise."She said smiling at the group who didn't seem to echo her faked happiness. They were getting quite close and Elena was beginning to feel a bit...cornered in a sense. She knew this particuluar group well from the years antics. The red-haired snarky girl in the middle was the ringleader if you could call her that and her little henchmen were these two blockheaded boys. The girl spoke first cutting right across Elena's greeting. "Cut the act, Jingles. We need to talk to you because apparently you're not good at following directions."Jingles...that nickname they had for her and it appeared they were in no mood to exchange pleasantries.
"I told you not to call me tha-"Before she could even finish, a loud sigh escaped the Ravenclaw girl and she jerked her head at the two boys beside her jerking a thumb at Elena. The Gryffindor didn't know what that meant but it definitely didn't look like they were gonna play nice and as Elena went into her cloak pocket to dig for her wand, that attempt was cut short as she found herself shoved against the wall, her arms pinned by the two goons as the girl walked towards her glaring daggers."You know, Jingles that was always your problem. You never listen, you don't follow directions and I hate to do this but we've told you numerous times to stop acting like a know-it-all in Charms but you just don't get it, do you?"That's when it dawned on Elena.
It was about that then. For just a stupid reason, she struggled against the strong hands pinning her to the wall eyeing the girl in front."You know, this isn't solving anything! Let...me..go..you'll only make this worse."She stopped speaking as the girl's eyes shifted to the necklace Elena wore around her chest as the Ravenclaw traced it with her fingers."Oh, but this will..."She said leaning in cupping Elena's chin as she pulled gently at the necklace ripping it from her neck as the beads splintered and shoving the precious jewel in her pocket. That was the final straw."GIVE THAT BACK! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO-.."A resounding sound of the girl's open palm striking Elena's cheek echoed across the room."And what are you gonna do about it? Cry? Hm? We have all the time in the world right now to make sure you get the message which you clearly aren't getting. I'm just getting warmed up." Elena glared at the Ravenclaw as the other two students hands held her steady as she fumed. That necklace meant everything to her..she could not lose that."Give..it...back....NOW."All that followed was the laughter of the three as they heard her response.

Interacting with @Elena Jangleton
Jay had been peacefully walking down the halls, minding their own business, and thinking about stuff, all of this done in peace. Just after five minutes pass of walking around there are some interesting sounds from the trophy room. One of the voices sounded familiar. Was it from that red head girl who had been babbling to her two friends they saw earlier? The girl seemed like a snot, so there could be an endless possibility of what she could be doing her her two guy friends in the trophy room...
Jingles? What in the bloody fuck? Jay thought, the name struck to them so they just had to interfere with whatever was going on. Jay went ahead and stood next to the trophy room entrance, they watched the scene unravel. This wasn’t surprising to them since they also get bullied- but by much older years.
This was honestly quite idiotic- for both the trio and the girl who was in their year. Just then the redhead ripped a necklace from her. Wow... I feel so bad... This is so cruel... they thought sarcastically. After a few seconds of watching the girls reaction they went ahead and stepped in.
“Oi! What in the bloody hell? What’s the funny joke eh’? And why are you acting like a whiny five year old eh’? ” Jay said, then putting themself in between the two. Jay didn’t like bullying, and they didn’t like pathetic people like the girl.
”Just stop bitching around! And you-” they turned to the readhead, “Give that thing back and toss off will ye’?”
I’m back. Jay or Deplorable ooc. Owls open for threads.

Jack was, by no means, any sort of hero. In fact, he would have been insulted to even be associated with the term. He prided himself in his selfishness and looking out for number one; that's what you did as a self-preservationist, after all. But when someone's plight brought along an opportunity of interest, the Slytherin was not above getting himself involved.
The voices carried from the trophy room entrance. The first-year noticed a slightly older Gryffindor standing by, watching the scene play out, and he went to go stand beside them until they themselves chose to directly interefere. He was surprised, since the second-year hadn't appeared to be the sort to opt playing hero either, considering how long they had been standing there just observing. Perhaps in the end, they decided they had more of an inclination for it than he did.
He, too, had often gotten bullied in muggle school, but he had incited the other kids to do so. Jack did this because he relished in making others look like complete and utter idiots. Not that this lot needed help with that, but...sometimes they needed someone to compare their own intelligence to in order to realize just how low on the food chain they were.
"'What's the funny joke?'" Jack repeated, taking a step into the room with a scoffing laugh of his own. "The joke is that these dolts are mad at a Gryffindor for being smarter than them and they're in Ravenclaw. Now, I know I'm new here as a first-year, but aren't Ravenclaws supposed to be wise?" he tapped his temple meaningfully.
"Nothing clever or witty about going after an enemy with sheer overpowering numbers. And using brawn to get what you want? Isn't that, like, the exact opposite of a show of intelligence?" Shaking his head pityingly, he threw up his arms in exasperation. "Guys, I'm muggle-born first-year and I know shit about the wizarding world, but even I can tell you're a bunch of morons." Nevermind that he himself had regularly been hated for being a know-it-all while in muggle school. If these girls wanted to know what a real know-it-all was like, Jack was happy to oblige.

Desperate Measures
By the grace of some miracle, it seemed all was not lost. The smirk grew ever wider on the red-headed girls face quickly fading as it was replaced by a scowl as an interposing voice inserted itself into the fray. Another person, she didn't recgonize them but it gave her some sort of sense of relief that she wasn't alone in this predicament followed by yet another stranger who seemed rather content at poking fun at the group."I said..let...me GO!"She spat at one of the boys pinning her arms which caused him to let go calling her some slur as the other shoved her to the ground as if preparing to do something terrible but looking to the girl for approval.
The female Ravenclaw however seemed more focused on the heros that had just walked in dangling the necklace from her hands."Well, well, looks like we got quite the party here, don't we? And what, pray tell, little ducklings is your plan if I don't give it back? Hmm? Nothing? This doesn't involve so I guess you can either sit back and watch the entertainment or leave..I would really hate to mess up this room if you know what I mean."She gave a tinkling laugh twirling the necklace as if it was something to play with before draping it over her neck, the jewel in the center resting on her chest as she examined it."This really is a neat piece, Jingles and ooh, a skull engraving? My,my, I didn't know you were involved in such...Dark...matters if I daresay."
The Gryffindor clenched her teeth as she dusted off her cloak getting to her feet her hands grasping her wand in her pocket. She was so close...so close to just blasting this accursed Ravenclaw into one of these lovely trophies. "Last warning, trust me, you don't want that thing. It's not what it looks like.""Nice try, sweetie but maybe you don't seem to be in a position to be making commands. It was nice of your little minions here to intervene but I really don't think you all are gonna do much, silly goose. Just think, what would the professors think if they walked in on all of you hexing and attacking a bunch of poor, innocent souls?"
She eyed the two that had come in and back at her bully. The two boys that were with her had this annoying smile on their face as if confident in the fact that the situation was in their control. "You know, he's right. It's childish, it really is how you get irked over the fact you can't even make a decent E with your own effort. Maybe if you actually tried, you would be good at something..for once!"She spat the words at the redhead student which did not seem to sit well with her."O, honey, no. It seems you still are not grasping today's lesson, shame really. Takes time for it to really sink in, I guess. Now, I suggest you and your little friends skidaddle on out of here and I'll see you tommoroww in class, hmmmm?"She almost purred the words at the three of them which was really testing Elena."Not a chance..I don't give a damn about any professor or prefect, you give that back right now or I swear I am going to hex you right into the biggest trophy there is and your friends too."She simply rolled her eyes at the thought mimicking a fake yawn as she kept that smirk on."Go ahead and try then, by all means."

The Slytherin laughed at the Ravenclaw's response. "Nah, sorry, don't know what you mean," he told her with a careless wave of his hand and a grin. "I don't speak idiot, see."
He rolled his eyes at the other redhead when she seemed to ignore the Gryffindor's words. "That wasn't a command, bird brain, it was was a warning. For people who are supposed to value intelligence and wisdom, you really don't retain much, do you?"
Now the Gryffindor girl had him curious about her jewelry, though. Was it some sort of magical object? Cursed, perhaps? Why was she wearing it around, then, and at school, no less? Well if one could activate whatever power it had by simply putting it on, then the Ravenclaw was doomed, but Jack didn't particularly care. She had brought that upon herself. No, he just wanted to get all this over with and give the girl back what was hers so she could owe him a favor.
Quickly growing bored of the Ravenclaw's mindless chatter, Jack took a running start before attempting to tackle her to the ground, his eyes on the necklace. "Want to play rough, do you? Alright, let's play rough," he laughed, grabbing for her long hair with one hand and for the necklace with the other.

The redhead seemed beyond annoyed that the Slytherin boy who had entered wouldn't leave. It was just an annoying nusiance she did not need at the moment."Look, buddy, I don't know how this concerns you but I gue-"She barely finished midsentence as the boy hurtled towards her her hair being pulled and she dropped the necklace to the ground to attempt to swat him off throwing punches wildly."AGGH! You little punk! NOT UP THERE!"While the Ravenclaw was busy swatting off the annoying Slytherin, the two males turned their attention to the Gryffindor girl as if gaining some newfound confidence."Don't even think about it."Her wand leveled to point at them and both of them glanced at each other as if considering their options. One shrugged as if accepting whatever was going to happen moving towards her. What followed was a streak of red light that erupted from her wand hitting the boy in the chest throwing him backwards into the wall as he slumped down clearly out of it.
The other one took one glance at Elena, her clearly crazy expression and took off out the room as fast as he could."COWARDS! I SAID.. GET..OFF..ME"!The Gryffindor calmly walked over, picked up her necklace draping it around her neck before walking over to the struggling Ravenclaw and leg sweeped her as she fell face-first on the ground. Her face was one of rage and as she opened her mouth to hurl whatever obsenity she would at the two of them, Elena poked her with her wand sharply so all that came out was a grunt of pain. "Listen here, the best thing for you to do is leave. Tell a professor, whatever, I don't care. But let me make one thing clear, leave me the hell alone and maybe try to grow some brain cells and learn in Charms than maybe you won't have to worry about getting all T's in what is most probably the easiest class in Hogwarts.""You got lucky this time, Jingles, good thing you had your charming knight in shining armor to save you...this isn't over.""It's nothing like that, now GET OUT!"She literally spat the last two words at the girl who simply replied with a glare accepting the fact that she was the one now outnumbered and hastily made her exit. Elena stood there for a moment as if ensuring she had actually left before exhaling a sigh slumping down on the floor. Why, why was it always her? It was always the bookworm that got picked on. She shook a little with rage and anger at the fact before coming to the fact the other boy was still there. She couldn't break down here, not in front of people. She glanced up mustering up whatever positve expression she could. "Thanks."She said weakly."Sorry you had to see all that."

When the Ravenclaw he had leapt to tackle had her feet swept out from under her, Jack went down along with the girl, glad he had her to brace his fall as she seemed to take the brunt of the impact. Once she had fallen, he wasted no time in getting back onto his feet, dusting himself off as he noticed the necklace had been retrieved by its rightful owner.
Jack opted to stick around to watch the continued drama between the girls, wondering if this was to be his new replacement for entertainment without television or the internet for the next school year, when the Ravenclaw said something about a 'charming knight in shining armor'. Wait...was she talking about him?
"Ew, gross," he commented, his nose wrinkling up in disgust. "I think you mean 'Prince Charming' or 'knight in shining armor', genius...not 'charming knight in shining armor'."
He wasn't sure if she heard him, however, since she was pretty quick to retreat once the Gryffindor girl raised her voice. Not that he particularly cared. With luck, they'd never cross one another's paths again.
Jack was distracted from watching the Ravenclaw girl's back by a sudden movement in his peripheral vision. Turning, he noticed the Gryffindor had slumped to the floor and raised a brow, walking over to her.
"What's the matter?" he asked. "Spell-casting take more out of you than you meant it to?"
By then, however, she seemed to have recalled his presence and opted to thank him before apologizing for what he had seen. Jack shook his head.
"That was actually pretty hilarious," he told the upperclassman. "I didn't think anyone still bullied people in such a cliche fashion. Might have been enough entertainment to last me a week."
He nodded toward her necklace. "If you really want to thank me, though, I'm curious...what's up with that thing? Is it cursed?"

@Jack Burnett
At this point, Elena would have given anything in the world if it had been her lack of wand skill that had caused her to shrink into the mess that she was. The Gryffindor was just exhausted, tired of being pointed at, ridiculed and the sole reason was her. Typically, the girl was nice, approachable even but a few people had crossed the line and that had been perfectly clear today as the boy posed a simple question that should have been easy to answer but it was anything but that. She let the silence linger in the air for a moment as if choosing how to go about this. Cursed? Sure, that didn't mean she needed to air it to the entire student population as one hand drifted upwards to cup the omnious necklace in her hand looking down at it. He seemed nice, he had helped her after all though the less people that knew, the better. "Something like that." The brunette muttered quietly with a shrug of her shoulders before letting it fall back against her chest pulling up her knees to her chest.
"What's your name?" Elena asked realizing that the boy who had without any care in the world jumped to her aid, she had yet to attribute a name to though really, the Gryffindor was hoping to direct his attention anywhere but the object of interest. She couldn't blame him though, it was quite the appealing and item of attention and you couldn't just ignore something like that. Well, perhaps you could but there were bound to be a lot of questions that followed and she supposed he deserved at least some answers given the fact he had just most likely saved her from being creamed by a bunch of knuckleheads who had nothing better to do wondering just where on Merlin to start with this before shaking her head as if debating with herself. "I..I..can't. It's..if they find out..I won't be able to.." The sentence trailed off without a conclusion the brunette clearly too dead-set against whatever she was about to confess.
Fumbling with the heirloom, the girl tucked it back into her robes as she made to stand taking in a massive intake of breath. There were a lot of emotions going through her head and they were not positive ones either as she met the boy's gaze. "It's not a pretty story, that much I'll say." It was a tale that ran deep in her roots and the memories were not one she wanted to recall or fathom in any way whatsoever, a sign of the iron grip over her as her gaze scanned around the room. Inhaling a shuddering breath, Elena was just relieved no prefects or professors had come rushing down at the commotion. She was sure they had kicked up quite the ruckust but the less people that were present, the better. "Don't think that's the last of them but it felt nice, been wanting to do that for a while now." Probably too long, Elena thought to herself as one though lingered at the back of her head. Hopefully, she had veered off the topic of her little necklace enough, it was not something you just forgot about but hopefully..just maybe.

At the girl's vague, brief explanation, Jack frowned a bit, but didn't complain. At least not until she asked his name. "I could ask you the same. Isn't it impolite to ask someone else's name before giving your own? I'm real big on exchanging favors for favors and information for information, see. So if you want my name, I'm going to have to ask for yours first." He'd heard the girl called 'Jingles' by her Ravenclaw bullies, but he hardly believed that was her actual name.
When the upperclassman began to stammer and babble something about 'if they find out' and her not being able to do something, he raised a brow, then shrugged. "Alright, alright, I get it. You can't or don't want to talk about the necklace. Guess that means you owe me a different favor then, though." He wasn't about to try to force the girl to tell him something she didn't want to, particularly when it didn't sound like it would have done either of them much good.
He silently watched her hide away the pendant before telling him 'it wasn't a pretty story', which didn't help his curiosity, but he wouldn't press the subject any more. "I like stories of all kinds. But alright; whatever you say." Then he frowned at her. "Here's a different question for you, then. Why do you let them bully you? I mean, can't you do something about it? Tell on them or outsmart them or - or something? Maybe if you hung around other kids, they wouldn't be as tempted to try to gang up on you."

He wasn't about to try to force the girl to tell him something she didn't want to, particularly when it didn't sound like it would have done either of them much good.

Desperate Measures

@Jack Burnett
Right, where were her manners? In all honestly, Elena had probably forgotten what was right and what was not in the few moments of chaos that had followed as she decided to relinquish her name. He had helped her after all, she supposed she at least owed him something at the very least. "Elena. Elena Jangleton." He defintely was inquistive about her little necklace thing but the Gryffindor wasn't about to let down her walls and tell just anyone that tale, he was going to have to try a lot harder than that if that was the case. She silently thanked the boy for not pressing the topic too much glad they were finally veering away from that particular matter not too keen to stay on it. The more he questioned the brunette girl about it, the more likely it was the Gryffindor was going to clam up because if she had learned one thing, it was that things tended to accidentaly slip out even if the boy seemed nice enough.
Another favor. Sure, as he posed his question about the other kids, the girl paused as if trying to come up with an answer. It wasn't that she let them bully her, it was just that they happened to pick on anyone who peaked their interest and after a while, it got so redunant or so overbearing after a while, you just threw up your hands and tolerated. It wasn't a very reassuring quality for a Gryffindor but even they had their limits. "I could but it wouldn't change anything, it would only probably make them more motivated to seek me out." Yes, she could inform a professor, maybe hide away in a corner even or mingle among others but that wasn't always an option. Sooner or later, she would find herself in situations like this one and if today was any indication, it was only bound to get worser from here on out. "Even if I do tell someone, I'll bet you a Galleon that would only make them more keen to go on a quest to find me again."
Maybe she was too nice, that was the issue. Perhaps Elena just needed to make an proper lesson out of one of them to send the message or it could have an counterproductive reaction and they could just begin to hate and loathe her more. "It's a win-win for them either way you look at it. Even if I don't tell anyone and someone else does, they'll probably think it's me. Option two, I do something and they take that as a personal challenge." Either way you looked at it, Elena very much doubted it would get a bunch of snarky kids off her back who by her analyis should have been thrown into the deepest darkest corner of the dungeons instead of having it all cozy and warm up in Ravenclaw tower. "What else can I do? I'm out of options, it isn't anything new though, being made fun of though. Not the first time it's happened." If anything, the previous instances had been more of an minor hindrance, these people really had it out for her for some childish reasoning and it was beginning to get to the boiling point. Sooner or later, someone was going to do something and she wanted to be nowhere near when that happened.
"I'm just lost. I'm tired, no one listens anymore, it's like I'm not even there."
