That's how the Cookie Crumbles
Saoirse was never really one for sentimentality, rather, she avoided it. She was always more fun a bit of fun and exploring. She hated to admit it, but she really did miss her family a lot more than she expected to. She skimmed over her letters to make sure everything was ready to be sent. From what she could tell, everything was in order. She gave the letter a soft kiss, sealed it, and gave it to Romulus, one of her brother's owls. She silently wished the bird a safe journey, pondering what her family was up to at the moment. She felt herself wanting to go home, if only for a minute. Maybe she wasn't ready for Hogwarts. She felt herself wanting to crumble into a pile of self pity. After a moment, she recalled her motto and realized she was just being extremely over dramatic.
After she took a deep breath and got control of her emotion, She sat against a wall and read through the letter her parents sent her. It was quite comforting to read her mother's writing. Cookie's mind wandered to the times where her mother sang her to sleep. While she enjoys the freedoms of being a pre-teen, she missed the lack of responsibility. She missed her rugged paths down to green forests. She missed Her brothers' cheesy jokes. She missed hearing her family call her 'Cookie'. Most of all, she missed her grandmother.
Although it was not very late in the afternoon, as Saoirse read on, her eyes started to close ever so slightly. She began to drift into that mysterious realm between slumber and consciousness. She could hear the ocean, the docks and the fisherman, all sounds she knows as familiar and comforting.
Before she could slip beneath the pillow's spell, she was jolted awake by footsteps. Someone was coming up to the owlery as well. She got up as quickly as she could, rubbed her eyes and tried to make sure there were no feathers in her hair.
