Elzabeth held the folded letter in her hand, excited to send it home so her parents could see what house she had gotten into.
The winding stairs left her a little breathless but she was determined to reach the top. She hadn't spent all that time last night writing the dang thing just to give up because of some old stairs.
As she neared she could hear the owls fluttering their wings inside, it was an odd sight for a girl who had only seen owls at the zoo or a school event.
"I hope this letter gets home fast, I'm sure dads been on the edge of his seat since I got on the train," Elzabeth muttered to herself.
She walked over to one of the school's owls, giving it a weary look before reaching out and attaching the letter to its foot, she gave it one more read.
"I miss them so much already." She muttered unhappily.

Elzabeth let out a sigh before folding it back up and sliding it onto the Owls foot. She watched as it flew away until it was a speck in the distance.Dear Mother and Father,
Hogwarts is amazing! It's so beautiful out here I feel like I'm in a dream. I'm sure you're wondering what house I made it into and I'm proud to announce that I was sorted into Ravenclaw! I know Father must be excited about that, I can't wait to read the letter you both send back.
I haven't been able to make many friends yet, but don't worry, it looks like there are many people here who would be lovely to spend time with.
I miss you both like crazy, I hope you miss me too.
From your loving daughter, Elzabeth

Teiki had her complete letter prepared in her hand. She had written it in her spare time in the Hufflepuff Common Room. She skipped up to the Owlery, happy she could explore it now that she had an excuse to be up here. She smiled happily, glancing back down at the letter in her hand. She was so excited to tell her parent's the news! She was positive they would be proud when they heard she was in Hufflepuff. Dad would probably be happy that she wasn't going to be following his footsteps, but instead creating her own path. She placed the letter in the Owl's foot, telling it where it needed to go. She was unsure if she actually had to do that, but it was nice to know she had made sure the owl knew where to take the letter.
"I miss them so much already." Teiki overheard this, and turned around to see a blond girl, that looked to be about the same age as her.
"Hello." Teiki waved towards the girl, smiling a bit. "I'm Teiki. What's your name?" She agreed with the girl, though, she did miss her parents and sisters terribly, despite having been gone for not even a week.

Elzabeth gasped in surprise, she hadn't expected anyone to hear her. It took her a few moments to process the girl's question but once she did she smiled, hoping it looked friendly and not like she was just talking to herself.
"My names Elzabeth, nice to meet you Teiki, I promise I don't talk to myself a lot." She let out a nervous laugh, rubbing her arm.
She felt a little awkward being caught muttering to herself but mother did it all the time at home, it was starting to become a habit of her's just like her mom. Now that she thought about it, she got a lot from her mom, it was starting to show more now that she was growing up. The way she would nervously rub her arms when she felt out of place or even the way she wrote. Maybe she was just overthinking it, after all, she was homesick.
Elzabeth looked down, noticing Teiki was holding a letter in her hand as well. "Are you writing home too?"
The last thing Elzabeth wanted to do was butt into someone else personal business but she needed a way to move the topic along and she figured this was the best way.

Margo trailed her hand along the rough walls of the staircase leading to the owlery as she climbed. Her time back at Hogwarts after the summer had been a blur so far, yet the summer’s events still stood out in her mind as clear as day. The owlery was a welcome retreat from the bustle of the corridors and she enjoyed the silence of the stairs. Her footsteps echoed less and less as she reached the top, and entered the owl infested tower.
Margo wasn’t surprised to see two other figures in the room as she entered it. Parents would want to hear from their children after their summers at home, and first years would be telling anxious guardians of their sorting ceremony. Margo recalled hers quite clearly. She remembered her pride in being different from her family, remembered the exhilaration of seating herself at the snakes table, of having a home she could grow into. She didn’t dislike Ravenclaw, not at all. In fact, she admired her father’s logical creativity, and her mother’s artistic flair. The house of wit was not to be underestimated. However, Margo was a Slytherin through and through now. She had grown up a little over the summer, filled the cunning shoes that were once too big, and refined herself. She was more thoughtful with her words these days. Of course, she still spoke out of turn, voicing her opinions to the world, but she was just a smidgeon more aware of how the world was affected, and she affected by it.
“Hello.” She mused to the blond girl and her companion. The blond was looking out of the window at a retreating owl, her hair glinting in the light. The other seemed to have just arrived, similar to Margo, and had introduced herself as Teiki.
One of the many things that had not changed about Margo over the summer was her habit of analysing people. These girls was no exception. Margo wanted to get a look at their faces and robes, to see what expressions hid in their minds and what houses were their homes. “I’m Margo. Important owl you just sent?” She phrased her question to the girl with her back turned, and then turned to Teiki. It was time for a little social experiment. “It’s nice to meet you, Teiki.” She smiled, holding out her hand for the other girl to shake. Maybe it was a little mean of her to be so formal, she was never usually like that. However, experiments were experiments and they were conducted for a reason.
The Slytherin pulled a letter of her own out of the deep pockets of her robe and stored towards the load of resting owls. Honestly, some habits never left. She’d only been back in her robes for a short while and yet the pockets of them already held clutter and useful things she may need. She never thought of it as a bad habit to have, so she never tried to stop herself. It was wise to always be prepared, though she doubted that the girls posed as a threat. Who knew, maybe she was wrong.
She attached the letter to an owl’s leg and whispered her home address in its feathered ear while gently stroking its head. It flew, taking her news to her family, her parents. Though there was one member that she doubted she’d ever see eye to eye with again.

Elzabeth was a little surprised she had run into two girls so suddenly but she was happy to meet new people, after all, she hadn't really gotten the change since arriving.
She turned from Teiki and looked at the other girl who looked a little older than her. "I'm Margo, important owl you just sent?" Margo seemed nice, formal but nice.
"Nice to meet you Teiki." Margo held out her hand for Teiki to shake, I took the silence for a chance to answer her question.
"Uh, just a letter telling my father what house I had gotten into. He's a Ravenclaw, I think he'll be happy to learn I am one too." Elizabeth gave the girl a soft smile, wanting to come off friendly as much as possible.
Her father had always spoken of his time at Hogwarts fondly, so she figured he would be happy to know she would be able to experience some of the things he had within Ravenclaw.
"What about you? If you don't mind me asking that is?" Elzabeth tilted her head to the side, letting her blond hair fall over her shoulders. She looked behind her where Margo's owl had flown away with her letter at its side.

Hi, Elzabeth! Yes, I'm also writing home, my parents are probably frustrated it took so long, though." She smiled, before noticing that another person had entered the owlery. She honestly had no idea she could possibly meet this many people so quickly, but who knew.
"Hello. I'm Margo. An important owl you just sent?" The newcomer seemed to be addressing this towards Elzabeth, so Teiki didn't respond.
"Nice to meet you Teiki." Margo said, extending her hand. Teiki shook Margo's hand, debating whether she should change her tone to a more formal one. She decided against it.
"Hello! It's nice to meet you, Margo." Teiki responded, smiling. The girl then went over to an owl to send a letter of her own. While she was extremely curious, she decided not to prod where or why she was sending the letter.

"I was sending a similar letter. I'm a Hufflepuff." Teiki responded, turning towards Elzabeth. "If you don't mind me asking, what years are you in? I'm a First Year." Teiki looked towards the two of them, hoping she hadn't confused anything. Knowing her, though, she probably had.
(OOC: Sorry if I made any mistakes at who the questions were directed towards.)

"I'm a first-year too, it's good to know someone I might be taking classes with." Elzabeth smiled, tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ears as a breeze whisked through the open tower.
Elzabeth started to bounce on her heels, finding it easier to let out all of her nervous energy while moving.
"I haven't talked to many first years since before the sorting, it's all just been settling in and unpacking after." Elzabeth had wished she hadn't been so shy when it came to talking to people, there were many people in her house she wanted to introduce herself to, but she didn't want to make a fool of herself.
Often times she would have trouble talking to people at first but once she felt comfortable around them, there was no holding back for her, she could talk circles around people. There were often times in primary school she had been teased for it, so she had somewhat learned how to control herself.
She looked over at the seemingly older student, Margo, trying to guess what year she was in before she had the chance to say.
From the interactions, it seemed like she was at least two years older than her, but maturity and age were two different things so she may or may not be off.

"Yeah, it is nice to know someone who I'll be taking classes with, so nice to meet you! I haven't talked to too many First Years, either. I think you'll be the third I've actually talked to." Teiki responded. Elzabeth appeared to be either nervous or energetic because she started to bounce slightly. Teiki decided not to comment on it for fear that she might embarrass Elzabeth. She was hoping to stay on most people's good side. She looked around the Owlery, unsure how to continue the conversation. She decided small talk was probably best.
"What do you like to do in your free time?" She looked between Elzabeth and Margo.
"Also, your answer can't be homework. Homework is not free time. I'm more of a chatterbox, but I also enjoy exploring or imagining whatever really. I also like sweets. Maybe a bit too much." She smiled, remembering how many times she got in trouble at home for eating sweets when she wasn't supposed to.

Margo smiled at the two first years, starting to loosen up a little. Elzabeth seemed particularly enthusiastic, bouncing slightly on her feet. Margo didn’t mind, it was cool, and she never ever wanted to judge somebody for being different- that would just be hypocritical. “I’m actually a Slytherin second year. I’ll be thirteen in November.” Margo told them, feeling a little bit as though she were the odd one out. However, instead of wanting to fit in, she welcomed her differences. Call her strange or different, but Margo enjoyed defying stereotypes. She had done so in her own family of Ravenclaws, and she’d would do so again whenever she wore all blue or all red clothing (yellow was a colour she didn’t like to wear without another, bolder colour with it.)
“My letter’s to family as well.” She confided. “There’s a section for my grandmother in this one though. She’s slightly deaf and more than slightly terrifying. She lives in our village, but she’s a muggle- not that I have anything against that of course.” Margo quickly added, afraid that the girl’s would get the wrong idea. “Her cats are scary too, but we always get a good laugh when we see her. I think I get my fashion interest from her. I make clothes in my spare time”
Margo grinned slightly at Teiki, she wondered if the girl had been confused at her formal tone. “Sorry about the formality, it’s just hard to know what to do here, a lot of kids come from long lines of all pure blood families and are taught etiquette and stuff. Gosh, I‘d be more than a wee bit horrible at that.” She smirked, letting her Scottish accent appear more than usual.

"Wow. Clothes. That seems, really hard to make." Teiki commented, remembering when she had tried to make her own costume. It- hadn't turned out well, to say the least. The fact that Margo wanted to make clothes in her free time surprised her. Unless, she just did it because she had spare time. Teiki wouldn't worry about it for now.
Margo excused her formality. Teiki was slightly surprised by this as well.
"It's fine. I haven't even been thinking about pureblood families or anything like that. I wonder if I should make a note of that." She wondered, debating whether she should do that. Teiki decided that maybe when she had at least a few more friends, then she might worry. Plus, if she always had to be that formal, she would probably just stay well away from anyone in fear that her excitement would get her in trouble. It's not like it hadn't happened before, she just never expected it with students her age. But- first impressions, right?
Teiki shrugged, ignoring the debate inside her head. "I'm not all that great with etiquette or anything like that. Also, your accents nice. Where's it from?" Teiki asked Margo. She hadn't explored much, and in all honesty, she had never really heard accents asides from French, English, and American.
