The forgotten child.
Alyssa sat with her back against the wall of the owlery, she had been waiting weeks for a response from her parents or even from one of her brothers. She pulled her knees closer to her body as she listened to the hooting of the owls. Somehow their chatter soothed her sadness. She stared down at the note in her hand. She thought that she would give her parents time to cool off or to calm down, she was not sure what the state of mind was like at home.
Her eyes moved over the familiar words.
Mom...
I...I am not sure how to write this letter, I have not received anything from you in weeks, you have not bothered to ask how I am. You have not bothered to ask how classes were, and if you would have asked I would have told you that so far I have 2 favorite subjects. They are Charms and Potions. I received outstanding results for them... but you did not ask.
I am left to wonder whether you really care. Am I expendable? Does it really matter that much in which groups I find myself? Does it matter that I am seen as proud and courageous rather than smart?
All these questions linger in my mind, I know I was never the daughter you wanted, I know I was not the princess in the dresses, I know I rebelled against every decision that was made against my will...but how can you expect any less? I was never asked what I wanted.
I was told what I wanted. I was told that I am supposed to be the best and the smartest, but what if I do not feel that way right now?
We never got along, but I always felt like I could probably count on you when I needed it. I am not sure I deserve the cold shoulder...
I miss...
I...
Alyssa.
She had scratched out the words, they seem to bring no comfort. Only more questions. She crumpled up the letter and threw it aside. She folded her arms around her legs and laid her head down on her arms. A soft sob escaped her being, something she had never done before.

Charlotte went up the stairs of the owlery, a big smile on her face, eager to post her letters. She loved this place, not really knowing why, but she loved it. She pushed the door gently, and hurried towards an owl, not even noticing the young girl, her head on her knees.
'Mom, Dad, Pénélope, Maddy...'
she whispered to hearself as she gave the letter to the owl in this exact order. The owl she gave it to was grey and black and had oddly wide eyes. She chuckled as it looked at her,its head tilted to the side. She gave him the last letter she was sending to her grand-parents and watched the owl fly out into the bright blue sky.
It actually wasn't blue, but grey, clouds filling it completely. She loved this weather and couldn't for it to rain as she read her book by the window. A smile on her face, she watched until the owlwas nothing more than a minuscule dot in this vaste ocean of candy-floss like clouds.
Turning around, she heard what she thought was a sob. Wait, was someone here? She gulped and walked towards the sound as it got fainter. Then she saw, sitting on the ground by the wall, a young girl with her head in her arms. She looked at her, a sad expression on her face and realised that a crumbled up paper was laying on the ground, a few centimeters away from her.
She sat down next to her, not really knowing what to do, after all this girl was a complete stranger, and she didn't even know her name.
'Hey, it's alright... Can you tell me your name? I'm Charlotte, Charlotte Cadunt. It's alright...'

She felt someone sit down next to her, a lump formed in her throat as she thought of what this should look like, she did not want to look up, her eyes were bloodshot, she had been crying for a while, she did not want to go back to the dormitories, there would be questions, and she would rather be left alone when she looked like this, she was not used to feeling like this.
This situation, however, placed her in a very strange position. She lifted her head slightly, " Alyssa" she managed to choke out, her voice betrayed her, she hoped to sound calm but of course, she could not rely on her voice, she bit her lip as she tried to control her shaking body. " I... I am sorry." she whispered, she did not want to bother anyone, and she did not think that anyone would come up here at this hour. She wanted badly to send this letter, but she knew that it would not do anything.
She took a deep breath lifted her head off of her arms, she sniffed softly. She wiped her cheeks, trying to get most of the tears. She softly played with her fingers as she stared out of the owlery into the darkness of the night. It was peaceful, she felt like she was the storm that was brewing, but this was just due to her feeling so helpless. She sniffed again, she looked down at her hands and continued to fiddle with them, it seemed like such a silly thing to do, but this felt like it was helping her, it kept her attention on her hands.

✧✧She saw the girl didn't feel very at ease with Charlotte by her side. Should she leave the girl deal with it on her own? Should she stay nonetheless? Well, naturally, this is what Charlotte did. Silence was, for the moment, probably the best thing she could do right now.
After a few moments, she cleared her throat gently, looking into the girl's eyes. She knew she would feel uncomfortable looking back, but she tilted her head to catch her attention.
'I heard that crying alone wasn't relieving for the heart. You should always cry with someone by your side for your tears to carry your sadness out. That's why I'm going to stay a little. Don't feel ashamed, crying is part of life you know? There are those who cry and those who lie about it.'
she chuckled lightly.
'You don't have to talk, if you don't feel like it. If you want, you can tell me what put you in such a state?'
she murmured, looking at the girl with a concerned expression, handing her the crumbled up letter she had taken care not to read.
She wrapped her arms around her knees, laying her head on her forearms. The sky was dark and a few timid stars made their appearance, one by one. All she could see were the distant mountains, overlooking the grounds in an intimidating manner.
Charlotte stayed silent and looked at the girl once more. By now she must have made up her mind about the current situation.
'Nod if you want me to leave, I'd understand'
she said with a faint smile on her face, waiting for the girl's answer, her head slightly tilted sideways.

I hope you don’t mind my interruption here. Just don’t acknowledge me in the next RP and I can leave the thread again.
Katrina walked up the stairs to the owlery watching the bright moonlight shine from the small windows. She held a letter in her hand which read:
Dear Anonymous,
I am not sure if this will get to you, but I hope it will. If it is you, you sent me a letter in March about the fire that my parents perished in. I have been wondering who you are. If you ever receive this, please respond with your name. Also, if you have photos of my parents, I don’t have any way to remember them.
-Katrina Walker
The Gryffindor breathed a long sigh as she re-read the letter. Hopefully I will remember which owl sent the letter. The red-head entered the owlery and immediately noticed Alyssa and Charlotte on the floor.
Charlotte spoke, “'Nod if you want me to leave, I'd understand'”
Katrina slinked in the corner slipping on some owl dung and hoped neither of them heard her. Her eyes racked the rows of sleeping owls and found one that looked like Katrina’s memory of the owl. The owl looked tawny and had a dark brown dot on his right wing. But was the owl that gave her the letter one of the school owls?
“Wake up,” Katrina whispered and prodded the owl gently with her finger, “Do you know who sent me a letter in March?” The owl gave a soft hoot, “Um, I will take that as a yes- if you cannot find the person, return back here and I can try another owl.” Katrina mused that she would go to each owl until one had a response if she had to.
Carefully, the Gryffindor rolled the parchment and placed in the tawny owl’s claw. It leapt into the night sky and glided away. Katrina stepped towards the girls and stood, wondering if they would notice her.
