Detention
Who: Donnovan Perrywinkle and Ruka Tân
Why: Curfew Breaking and Bonfire at the Great Lake
What does a detention entail?
Nico smiled at the hooting owl as she waited for the two boys to arrive for their detention punishment. She had something good in mind to teach them a lesson for sneaking out at night. She stood there, with folded arms as a owl playfully hopped onto her shoulder. He was rather big. She giggled softly and stroked his belly feathers gently. As some owls took off to deliver mail, and some arrived, from delivering; feathers flew all around the Owlery.Punishments are dependent on the prefect/professor giving the punishment. Regardless, all detentions have these things in common:
1. Thread is RPG (200 word posts)
2. Each of you have to post twice
3. Posts is consecutive: player does not have to wait for a reply from prefect/professor. Nico will dismiss them once each of you posted twice.
4. Offending student cannot make new RP threads until detention is complete. Threads that are created during detention are locked until detention is complete.
Please note that the player is not barred from continuing present threads, joining other RPs, or creating OOC threads.
When they got up the stairs, they'd see Nico wearing a noseclip, to keep out the nasty smells of the owl poop. 'Good, good.' She smiled warmly, tilting her head. 'Glad you guys could make it. This...' Nico opened her arms wide, setting her leg aside, striking a pose. '... is where you guys will have alot of fun.' She patted the owl, he hopped back into its spot.
'Now, you already see what your fun job will be. Clean up the birds poop. And as you definitely see, there's ALOT of it. And before I leave your guys to it...' She walked up to them and pulled their wands from out of their pockets. '...I'm pretty sure you won't need those.' She smiled cheeky. 'We're doing this the Muggle way.' Her smile changed to a blank emotionless face. She pointed out to all the brushes and non-magical brooms they could use. Everything a Muggle would use, was present.
'Now, you might think i'll give you one of these...' She tapped the clip on her nose. '.. But I think it's important that you take in the scent...' She set one step closer. 'So you'll never forget it.' The look on her face was cold. 'Enjoy your stay. I'll be back in an hour.'
She walked down the stairs and closed the door behind her. She'd linger at the bottom of the Tower, to make sure they didn't try to sneak out.

The Dancing Squid
Donny frowned and scowled as the prefect girl left the room, their wands in her pocket, and a broom and pan in their hands. Donny resented the girls loathing, though it was to be expected from slytherins. "I can't believe this!" he said to Ruka, pacing around and shipping over the droppings on the stone floor. "We're nearly killed by a giant squid!" he uttered some more things about their previous adventure that he'd rather not scream... but really, he wanted to. He looked down upon their new adventure-scooping owl droppings... how fun! He jerkily gripped the broom in his sweaty palm, trudging over to a pile of droppings nearest the window.
Just then, he saw two seemingly loathing birds finish dropping even more pellets near Ruka. One was the owl previously on the prefect girls arm, the other a random one with bright white feathers who perched atop the windowsill. "Stupid birds! This is why i'd much rather have a cat!" Donny yelled, a scoop of droppings already in the bin. "I think personally-add on Ruka- that these prefects need a little discipline as well! It's not like she was doing anything productive!" he sniffed loudly, regretting the decision as he took in the foul odors of the birds.

Ruka had arrived at detention with his usual calm, friendly expression, but inside he was seething. Sure, they had broken curfew, but to get them all the way up to the owlery so they could clean up bird poop without magic or at least a nose clip and some gloves? It seemed like a spiteful punishment when they had really suffered enough consequences already.
He still decided not to say any of that to the Prefect girl, instead nodding at her words until she finally left them to do their dirty work.
He turned to Donny with his face pulled into a grimace. "Like we haven't suffered enough already," he said, gagging slightly when the two owls closest to him landed some more droppings on the ground. He turned to clean them up, doing his best not to breathe through his nose as he did so. "I'm pretty sure I died for a couple of seconds out there, you'd think that'd excuse me from detention. And homework." He sighed, avoiding the deep breath he wanted to take as he bent down to clean up more droppings while listening to his friend ranting on about the Slytherin Prefect.
It wasn't really in Ruka's nature to badmouth anybody, but right now he felt like it was a good idea to direct his frustration at one person that wasn't himself, so he joined in with a sharp nod. "Don't think she would have made us clean the Owlery if we'd been Slytherins," he pointed out, shooing away one of the owls when it came to sit on his shoulder, and probably leave some droppings over his cloak. "What was she even doing outside? Don't they usually patrol the corridors?" He groaned in annoyance when one of the owls left some droppings exactly where he'd just cleaned. He didn't usually mind the owls, but right now he wished they would all just fly off to hunt so they could clean this place in peace. "I really imagined our next adventure to smell better than this," he pointed out, rolling his eyes at the situation. "Next time, after we escape death again, we should probably not make a fire so we're not found out again. I really don't want to have to clean bird poop more often than necessary."

Donny agreed strongly to Ruka's equally frustrated sentiment. "I totally agree!" he said, pinching his nose and dumping another scoopful of owl droppings into the bin. He scraped around each crevice and cranny looking for more droppings when he came across a particularly large lump of barn hay. "Yuch!" he exclaimed, picking up his new sneakers and looking at the brown spots on the bottoms. "Dammit these birds are gonna have me smoking!" Donny said, using quite a bit of slang there. He got the cleaning pan and scraped what he could off the souls of his shoes. "And I thought we'd be shining her shoes right now- the arrogant little..." Donny wen into another rambling riot in his own mind.
He looked over at Ruka, who seemed not to affected by the smell of the place. "How in the name of Merlin are you calm right now!" he said, laughing and pinching his nose even harder. Donny knew Ruka hadn't always had the best experiences, but owl droppings-please! Donny continued to scoop piles of droppings, surprisingly they were getting fewer and fewer. Donny looked out of the window... and he could still see, just a little bit, the squid was still dancing! "Ruka Look out there! The squid!" he said, motioning towards the window...

Ruka did his best to concentrate on the task at hand, only laughing at Donny's rants sometimes and agreeing vehemently instead of storming into his own rant. Having fire spark from his hand when he got upset had made him great at controlling his emotions; it was all he and his dad had focused on since the first signs of magic.
He calmly scraped up some more owl droppings, breathing shallowly to avoid taking in too much of the smell.
"At least we're together," he pointed out, trying to see the bright side of their punishment. "She could have seperated us and made us each do a different part of her laundry." He pulled a grimace at the thought and then let out a laugh that scared one of the owls, making it screech loudly in protest and fly to the other end of the room. "And stay there!" Ruka told it loudly before turning back to scraping owl poop off the floor and various wooden poles.
He grinned at Donny when he pointed out that he didn't seem to be too bothered by the smell. "Once you spent a night in a field of cow droppings there's no smell that can really bother you anymore," he pointed out, shrugging his shoulders with a laugh. Looking around the Owlery he could already see a notable difference, and he almost felt kind of proud of them for getting it back into such a good shape.
A little distracted by searching for more owl droppings to clean, Ruka flinched a little when Donny beckoned him to the window.
He looked up, walking over to his friend to see what he was looking at, and really; there was the Squid, tentacles moving in a wild dance around itself. Ruka couldn't help but laugh loudly, giving Donny a sound clap on the shoulder. "I have to say," he started, a bright grin on his face. "Looking at that kind of makes cleaning the Owlery worth it."

Donny smiled and went on cleaning, every minute or so sparking conversation with Ruka about adventures or life stories that could pass the time. It was pitch dark outside and the owlery was nearly spotless, the two seemed to have beat the system and had fun doing detention, they were inseparable. "So... I guess this is it for today my friend!" Donny said, pulling out some crushed bon-bon's and throwing them in the bin. He supposed they got crushed while Donny lept, or was dragged rather out of the boat. He looked at Ruka, a wide grin spread across his face as the two finally took in all that had happened in one day-how eventful! Just then a straw colored tawny owl landed in front of Donny it's leg stretched out. At first Donny thought it was going to begin Dropping pellets again until he saw a parcel attached.
He took hold of the letter, and tore it open, recognizing his mother's firm handwriting. He read it in his head, scanning it widely as his expression showed much of the letter. "My mum says for the Easter holidays she might buy me tickets to go see the London Quidditch game!" He reminded himself, beaming a Ruka as he spoke. "There's gonna be two tickets!" he said, nudging Ruka...

Ruka expected the day to drag on and on, an endless chore of scraping up owl droppings, but they had actually managed to make it a fun day with lots of stories, jokes and banter between them.
Despite having gotten in detention, despite having to scrub the owlery until it was poop-free, despite having almost drowned the night before, this had turned out to be the best couple of days Ruka remembered having.
"We're done," he said in slight disbelief, looking around him and then out the window where darkness had covered the sky like a cloak. "Can't believe it passed this quickly!" He chuckled and walked over to the window to have one more look outside at the lake. Someone had relieved the squid from dancing, so now all there was to see was the clear surface of the lake under the stars.
He looked back at Donny when an owl swirled past him, and for a second he wanted to shout at the bird to not even dare to drop any more poop, but then he realised that it held out a parcle for Donny, who took it and opened it. On his face Ruka could see a smile forming as he read through it, and he was about to ask what it said, when his friend seemed to make him a proposal he wouldn't ever be able to refuse.
"You'd take me?" he asked, eyes wide with excitement, and feeling incredibly giddy about the prospect. His very first real Quidditch game! All the reading and flying around with Donny had not prepared him for this! He skipped excitedly over to Donny, beaming at him. "I mean I'd have to check my schedule," he joked, grinning from ear to ear as he glanced at the letter as if it may be a prank. "You better not be kidding; Mentally I've already packed up all my stuff!"

Donny beamed, almost hopping up and down as he sat on the clean floor. His mother only mentioned a maybe-but the Easter holidays were soon, and he would definitely have those tickets clutched in his greedy hands. He could see it now... The stands, the thousands of people, the Chudley Cannons against the Falmouth Falcons, swerving, the snitch in the CC seekers hands... what more could the boy ask for? He was soon going to be out of this owlery, in his bed, and sleeping, dreaming for the day to come even sooner than mentioned. "Ruka! Yes that's what I mean! If my mum goes through with this we'll have those tickets, and before you know it... we'll be there! In the stands!" he yelled, though toning down as he thought he'd heard steps.
"You have my word Ruka Tan! And as a symbol of our dedication, here!" he said, handing him a card, a chocolate frog card. It was one he'd had about two of already, but it should mean all the much to Ruka. "Take it... and I think we're done!" he said, pointing to the door as he hoped for the prefect girl to come gliding in, the arrogant smug look on her face demolished...

Ruka was bursting with excitement! Sure, it was only a maybe but still, Donny was inviting him to come along and it would end up being his first ever real Quidditch match, and he would get to see it with his best friend! He wondered what his dad would say when he told him about all of this.
He reached out his hand to take Donny's promising token, smiling brightly as he saw that it was a Chocolate Frog card. He had seen them around but this was his first one and it meant all the more to him for that.
"Thank you, Donny," he said sincerely, turing the card around to skim over the words on the back before safely tucking it away in his pocket. "Really, this is amazing!" He wasn't sure how exactly to express his gratitude but he hoped Donny could see in his eyes just how much all of this meant to him.
He took a deep breath as he heard steps approaching, casting one final glanze around the Owlery to make sure it was completely clean - as clean as it could be - before he turned towards the door, arms crossed in front of his chest as they waited to finally be released from detention.

After some time passed and it was already dark out, Nico figured they stayed there long enough. She walked up the stairs to the Owlery, to find an incredibly clean space. As she entered, she saw the two boys, ready near the door. They seemed more than ready to leave this place. 'Sorry it took so long. I had some matters to attend to and lost track of time.' She sighed abit embarassed. One of the owl seemed to hoot in dissaproval, which made it worse.
Nico observed the spick and span looking Owlery. You could barely believe it was the same place that was once filled with owlpoop. Not to mention, the amount of poop on the walls. She'd even dare to breathe in deeply. Wauw. No gagging. 'Quite impressive, you two. Didn't think you would clean it up THIS well.' She scratched the back of her head abit ashamed. 'Buuuut... that's probably because I forgot to come sooner.' She turned around to face the Huffelpuff and the Gryffindor. 'I'm really sorry that it took so long. Really...' She really felt awful. Sure, she wanted them to regret what they did but... Being so long in there... That even crossed the line for her.... 'Oh! Right..' She patted a pocket of her robes, swiftly pulling out their wands. 'You get these back. Don't want to forget more than I already did.' Handing them each their wand, she couldn't help but even bow slightly as an apology. 'Okey, you guys can leave. Off to bed, I hope.' She then smiled warmly. Porbably the first time she did so genuinely. 'And hopefully, the next time we meet, it won't be me giving you two detention.'
