To Derby
The letter is rolled up by a pair of hands, red from writing and among other things. The figure has his house robes on, a scarf tightly wrapped all the way around his neck and even past his mouth. His brown hair is unkempt and there's a soreness in his gaze, maybe from the night he spent studying before. He yawns, his arm still held out for the owl as it perches on it.Mum and Dad,
I'm sorry for not writing sooner, I just finally settled in. I'm safe at Hogwarts, the train ride wasn't as bad as I imagined it to be. But I should have packed more clothes for the cold because the nights can get pretty chilly. My house robes aren't thick enough sometimes. I got sorted into Hufflepuff, the black and yellow house with the badger. I think it's a badger. I think being in this house is a good thing, that's what I've experienced so far. I
know I wished I was in Gryffindor earlier, but I've grown into this house already. I'm not having any issues with the students, yet. But I've actually met a handful of good people, nice students from different houses. One of them even let me borrow their notes, even though I was late. My classes are interesting too, I struggle in a lot of them but I'm very engrossed in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
I think I'm starting to fit in, but I still have a lot of questions. I'm figuring it out myself and I'm trying not to feel a little lost, but I think I'll meet some people who could help me. I still miss Derby though, I miss Ollie and Quinn, please tell them I said hello. I have one more favor too, can you send me a small batch of the caramel chew from Mr. Benning's store?
I'd have more to write but I can't really think of anything. I'm also trying to finish my homework that's due tomorrow. I love you mum. I love you dad.

The first year says something, inaudible to anyone but the owl itself as he attaches the letter. Not a moment later, the owl is off - carrying the letter held together by some knotted twine. The owner of the letter watches for a minute, till finally turning around to head towards the grounds.
"Trouble usually finds me."
