Episode Two – A Potion seasoned with Starlight

Thurston was heading for his chamber, walking through the ostensibly aeviternal passages of Hogwarts. He just came from the Astronomy Tower, where he had taught one of the classes. That meant it was past midnight already and evidently was kind of languid. It had been a few days since he pilfered the small flask of potion from Hogwarts incumbent Potioneer. When he opened the door to his chambers, which were akin to a small tenement, he took a glance around. Something does not add up, even if he could not quite put a finger on it yet. His rooms looked like always; a living area, melting together with the tiled floor of the kitchen and three closed doors from which one would lead to the bathroom, one would lead the person who wishes to enter it into Thurston's office, while the other lead to his bedroom. His living area looked kind of boring as he barely used it. He ensconced himself in the armchair betimes and read through his small collection of books, that he kept sorted in a ligneous shelf. He did not own any fictional novels, as that was nothing he was interested in. He read through mythologies from different ancient countries, learning more about their myths and whatsoever he could learn from them, merely gaining more knowledge.

When he reached the door to his office, he turned around the door knob cautiously and tried to glance inside the room. He was not afraid but had an unusual feeling. Did Ackerley do something to his flat again? He knew that was not overly delusive, as the dark haired men with the pale blue eyes was quite... extraordinary. He entered the room, it looked normal besides the owl sitting on his desk. He breathed in slowly and shook his head. Who would sent him an owl at this time? Or did it sat there for a longer period of time? He shook his head once again, knowing that he did not entered his chambers since noon and that had been what, twelve hours? More than half a day a least.

He approached the beautiful owl with the white feathers guardedly, as the animal seemed irritated and ready to turn him into prey. A rather amusing thought, considering who the real predator in this room was. He eased the owl of the letter's weight and gave the animal a cookie. He rarely got owls so the small bowl with owl cookies was nearly filled to the brim with the treat that owls seemed to love. He then proceeded with opening the letter while the owl waited for him, which meant the person sending that letter was awaiting a reply.

Just looking at the subject of the owl he just received made his eyes widen in surprise. It is not that he forgot about the favor he owed the elven man, but he just was surprised that the other did not already forgot about him. The letter, as one could have guessed by now, was by no other than Hogwarts current Potioneer, Potion Master Valtome. Thurston replayed the scene in the Potioneers Storeroom within Hogwarts Dungeons and smiled. So the half elf would finally reach out for him, accepting the trade he had to offer. Help for help, simple as that. Even a child should be understand the concept of this trade of favors. While the Potion Master would brew him a monthly batch of Potions, Thurston would assist him in small task; depending on what he would not mind helping him with the bigger tasks either. Without further thoughts he folded open the parchment and began to read whatever the Potioneer had to tell him.

Mr. Barclay,

I do hope this owl catches you at a time most opportune. Re that favor you bespoke, I just so happened to espy the fact that I have stumbled upon a meager amassment of integrants for my amalgams. Would I be remiss in levying your succor? A prosaic drudgery it would be otherwise.

Time: 11:01 AM
Place: Diagon Alley - Before the Apothecary Shop

Should this be misconstrued as importune comportment, then please feel free to disregard and discard this letter. Should you find this proposal even marginally propitious, a simple RSVP will suffice.

Thurston put the letter down, placing it on his table and groaned in frustration at those words that wounded so strange. What was this? Elvish?! He sighed, annoyed even as he pulled open one of the drawers at his desk. He pulled out the dictionary that he kept there and placed it next to the letter. "You must be kidding me, Valtome..." he muttered in a sotto voce as he began to flick through the endless pages of the dictionary. Word for word he pieced himself together what the elf was even talking about and for what he needed assistance. Could he not just word it like a normal human would, instead of making the people around him think they were stupid? Not that he felt stupid, it just annoyed him that he never understood what the other was talking about.

When he finally got what the other had tried to tell him, he leaned back in his chair. This man... After some seconds of thinking he began to write a reply. A reply like a decent person would write, not someone who trie dto torture the mind of others with words no one knew about.

Mister Valtome,

I got your owl and can tell you that I will be there at the mentioned time.
