JOURNAL Open Letters to family

Dear Muirgen,

    It is so cool here! All the owls, the people, the magic! You were right! And I have already made a couple of friends in the ballroom. Isn't it pretty?
    Yeah, but I don't have many friends from the dorm. It might have been that I said my sexuality, but I don't know...
    I miss you, and mum and dad, and everybody... I love you guys! Can't wait 'til you are healthy and can come back to Hogwarts. I can see why you want to stay here!

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Harper,

Hello mum and pa. I would have addressed this letter with your names but I then remembered the mail at home doesn't have your first names on the envelopes. Pretty good here at Hogwarts, I got sorted into Gryffindor. I know that your house was Hufflepuff and I hoped for that but I am glad I didn't get Slytherin. Nothing has started yet in terms of class and homework. I'm waiting on further instruction on what to do to earn points n' all. I haven't made any new friends either, I am waiting to see if I have anything in common with people. That will take time of course and I do hope for the better. My pet is doing okay, we did have some bonding the other night and I feel as though my animal trusts me. Which, to me in that perspective is good since we are building our friendship on trust. I got to check out the Astronomy tower last night. It was a sight to see and I really enjoyed it. I do hope one day in the future of my education that I will learn about the heavens. I am curious about what lies beyond this planet. Well, I better go and get some sleep. Love you.

I’ve got great, exciting news! I have been sorted into Gryffindor along with the rest of the Montys. I’m very excited and I hope to receive a positive response back soon.

Sophia rolled the dusty parchment into a scroll-like letter and tied it shut with a scarlet ribbon she sometimes tied her hair up with. She gave it to a nearby owl, told it the address of their apartment complex and watched it fly away.

Dear Mum and Dad,
     Is it true? Is it actually true that the family is moving back to Ireland? Muirgen came up to me at breakfast and told me. But is it true? I so want to go back and see grandma and grandpa again!
     Anyway, I met a couple of guys, in the lavatory of all places! But they are really nice. Both are Hufflepuffs; one is named Arceus Powers and the other is James Lachoneus. I think I might have a little feelings for Arceus, but he doesn't like me like that, so we are just gonna stay friends. They are gonna help me make a couple Ravenclaw friends! 
    I figured out they had a ballroom here! It is so pretty and everything! I mean, I told Muirgen, but I haven't told y'all! I also found a rehearsal room and I brought my violin and played. I found a girl, I forgot what house she is in (I think, maybe, Ravenclaw), but she saw and heard me playing, and she liked it! I played Hotel California for her, and I ended up singing it too! She plays the harp and piano, and I think she is good, but I haven't heard her yet. 
    I'm running out of time, but I need to say one last thing:

Mackenzie walks up the long staircase to the top of the Owlery looking for her snowy owl, Momo. She had just written a letter to her father telling him all about being sorted into Gryffindor and reassuring him that she was perfectly fine.

Father,
I know I haven't answered as quickly as I said I would, but there's so much exciting things happening here I just haven't had the time. I'm sorry!

[font=Times New Roman]I just want to say that I've been sorted into Gryffindor! The house is filled with the courageous, brave and most loyal people. I hope I haven't been put in the wrong house. How's everything back home? Are you coping without me blabbering on about something ridiculous? I'll tell you more about Hogwarts when I go home for the holidays, I'm running out of space on this parchment![/font]

[font=Times New Roman]She finds Momo waiting for her to tie the letter on his outstretched leg. She ties it securely and pets him on his head, before he takes off to deliver. She watches as the owl fades from view, wishing she didn't have to lie to her father. Obviously, her life here is a lot better than the one back home, but she doesn't have any people to talk to. Maybe it's her fault, she isn't making much effort with everyone or she's just unlucky.[/font]

[font=Times New Roman]Sighing, she walks out of the Owlery and heads off into the castle to explore.[/font]

Mother,

I hope you are well. I apologize for not writing sooner, I'm scared that you and father are disappointed in me.

I am doing alright in classes, I'm going to make you proud, for once  get straight A's like you expect me to. I miss you. I have to go, but I will Owl you when I can, I know you won't reply as you are very busy, but that's okay! I made friends! They make me laugh even though you said not to talk to students who aren't Pure-bloods and... I got into Hufflepuff. 

I'm sorry that I'm a disapponting you.

Dear Daddy,

This has been a rather long day.  So much has happened.  The ride on the Hogwarts Express was fine.  I didn't spend all my money on sweets, but I did buy some Chocolate Frogs for later.  Maybe I'll get the cards I don't have yet in my collection.

I hope you are doing okay since I've left for Hogwarts.  Maybe we could make arrangements for you to come and visit me here at school.  I have good news: I was sorted into Slytherin House!  I never knew just how big Hogwarts is.  I hope I don't get lost inside it.  I plan to spend the weekend exploring the castle and maybe find a secret passageway that leads someplace wonderful.

I wish I was still at home helping you brew all those potions, but I remember what you told me about the importance of getting a good education.  That's why I am going to study hard and try to achieve top marks in all of my classes here at Hogwarts.  I haven't made any friends yet, but I have only been here for one day.  After all, making friends takes time.

Well, Daddy, it is getting rather late and I am growing tired so I must finish this letter now.

Dear Mother and Father,
I believe you have already heard the news about the fact that I have been sorted into  the house, Hufflepuff, the house of the loyal. Please, understand that this house isn't useless like you assume it is, many great wizards have come from this house and I will do my very best everything to show to you I am still worthy of the title of your son. I will become a top student and pass all of my NEWTs and OWLs when the time comes. 

I will not stray from my path of becoming the heir to the Carrow name, I promise. This house will not change me nor corrupt me whatsoever, and though Slytherin would have been a much more suitable house for me, what's done is done. And I beg you to understand and read this letter instead of just burning it in the fireplace. 

I promise to write to you whenever I possibly can and tell you of my progress here at Hogwarts. And please tell me how it is in the manor, I hope Tilly doesn't miss me as much, she may be a house elf but I've learned she is quite emotional.  I hope you two are healthy and well since my departure and are not upset with the Sorting Hat's choice and of me.

Please do not do anything rash, I beg of you.

Arceus walks into the dimly lit Owlery with a paper in his hand and reads it one more time before setting it in the school owls talons.

Dear Mum and Dad,

How are you? I'm doing ok. I've even made some friends! I'm sorry I didn't write sooner but things have been really crazy and to be honest I couldn't find the Owlery. This castle is so big! I've made some friends, Blaze, Caitlin, James , Alecksander, Kendra and Leslez. I'm surprised I made so many friends already and I'm very happy you helped me come here! The lessons are fine, I'm not that good at magic yet, but I'm getting better! I miss all of you especially Snowflake! I can still feel her sitting on my lap whenever I sit down, so make sure to give her countless cuddles from me!

I should have told you sooner but a giant squid almost killed me! Don't worry I'm fine, actually my friend Caitlin saved me! I don't know if I would even be alive if it wasn't for her, a lot of other things happened too, I saved Leslez from losing all his hair, and  I even made some friends in my common room.

I never thought I would have so much fun here!
