Homesick Solo Finished

The smell of damp earth combined with old fallen leaves covering Kira's shoes, taking a deep breathe; earthy yet enjoyable. This earthy smell has an instinctive calming effect to a human. Nature was what people took granted for the most, enjoying it every now and then was never a crime. This remained her of home, the backyard where flowers were blooming in the spring, scents of floral and fresh air with beautiful butterflies flying around. Homesick; the feeling Kira never had before even when she was sent to the orphanage. Different imaginative thoughts came crushing inside her head, her parents were in there as well. Imagining things that could never came true, she looked up the sky; smiling like a fool. Her grandparents are the only family she has now. Continuing her journey to the Owlery, all by herself yet again. Nothing new for Kira who used to being alone. A few minutes had passed before seeing the tall building of Owlery in front of her eyes. Amazed about how beautiful this old building was. Imagine how many great wizards and witches that have came here for whatever reason but today, Kira has her own reason for being here. Letters, she needed to see the reply she got from her grandparents.

The circular stone building was filled with owls, must be from various of different students. Today, the Owlery was empty; she was the only one there. Looking outside the window, it was rather cold and drafty because none of the windows had glass in them. The lack of glass in the windows allowed the owls to come and go freely. covered in straw, owl droppings, and the regurgitated skeletons of mice and voles. From the distant, Kira could see an owl with a letter attached to its leg. Upon entering the Owlery, the owl stopped at its nest, Kira could see a letter with her name written on it. Kira took it with her smile on her face; excitement rushed inside her body.

Dear Kira,

Your grandfather and I are doing great. Seeing you where you should've been made us more than happy for you. We are proud of you. We're sorry we couldn't come and visit you there nor did we join you for your first day at Hogwarts. But I hope you enjoyed your time there. Having to learn everything that you always wanted is what made you happy. Your parents will be proud of their girl and they always have been even before you were born.

Be who you are and you should've hide it anymore. Be a good student and a wizard. Be proud of who you are and don't let anyone tell you different. I know you miss home and wanted to come here but now, just focus on your classes. You can visit home when you can. We will always love you and so are your parents. Find a lot of friends there and don't let yourself be lonely again. Even if your awkwardness, someone might stick with you despite being who you are.

She laughed, tears started to roll down her cheek. Realizing it, she wiped it as fast as she can, embarrassed that someone might walked in on her.

Keep it together, Kira. Someone might see you.

She thought before continuing reading the letter she got.

Mixed feelings started to kick in. Happiness, satisfied, sad, homesick. Every little feelings could be described by Kira for hours but she decided to just be happy. Hogwarts is going to be her home too until she graduated. Despite all the feelings she felt, she was relieved somehow. Her grandparents are doing well and so does she. Happy and contented, she decided to go back to Hogwarts and listened to her grandmother's advice.

Not now.
