Dear Pericles Drallt Dralt,
Hallo. I hope this letter finds you in good health. As you already know from our last letters exchanged, I'm not very good at this, so apologies. I was unsure if this was a bit too soon to write to you, considering we only saw each other two days ago, on the train. I was just so excited pleased to have someone other than family to write to. Even then, I hardly write to them. Seems that way at least. Oh! That reminds me; I will be numbering my letters, so I can keep track of them. I seem to have bad luck when sending letters to people outside of school, and I don't know if I'm the problem, or if the owl I'm using is. Please let me know if one of my letters don't seem to make it. Or if this one doesn't make it. Though, I'm not sure how you will do that if you never got to read this one.
Anyways, how is your trip so far? Have you seen any cool things yet? I'm not really sure what to put in these sorts of letters. Help. Speaking of cool things, Meenauh and I got to set up our tent yesterday. Its very cozy, though I think its a bit big for just the two of us. But I don't mind. It kind of reminds me of my own home. Maybe we can find someone who will let us borrow their camera, so we can take pictures of it, to send you later. The Welcome Barbie-Q Beb Barbra-cue BBQ was today. I think I was supposed to meet Meenauh there, but I got caught up in chasing a glowbug for five miles some things. Perhaps Meenauh can fill you in on her BBQ experience. I Think I saw her writing something earlier, so you probably should expect to see a letter from her soon. Maybe it will come in with mine.

Dear Xailah,
My health is all well and good, but I'm not all too happy about missing out on summer camp. Your letters are perfect- I'm very grateful for them while I'm stuck here at home. They couldn't possibly come too soon. If I didn't have a chance to write with others from Hogwarts, I might go mad trying to keep from telling my family everything that happened last year.
My father has been keeping me busy with studying our ancestry. We were invited to a ball, you see, and I am expected to recognize the majority of prevalent names attending. I'll admit I'm nervous. He had my ceremonial vest pressed- the one I wore at the Blossom Ball- and said he was sure he caught a whiff of wood smoke off of it. I haven't had to keep secrets from my parents before, but I fear if I told them everything they simply wouldn't send me back.
I only wish I could see the tent in person! I'll look forward to photos, and another letter. I hope things are going as smoothly as a Hogwarts function could. We have plans to visit Diagon Alley soon, where I will be waving in the general direction of the stadium.
Best wishes from Plymouth,
-Pericles

The 3rd of July, 2020
Late Evening
Hello, Pericles!
While it's been an awkward datey and an awkward evening for me, I thought that writing a first summer letter to you would be a nice end to it.
It's a pity that you couldn't attend the Quidich Quidditch event this year. Actually, it's not a pity at all, because Quidditch is boring as hell. I even misspelt it. But I'll say it again — it's a pity that the three of us couldn't spend more time together. The previous summer camp was hectic and too extroverted for me because I had to live with random people and I didn't get to know Xailah back then. This year we managed to stay together and put a lot of defensive charms on our tent to avoid anyone entering under the fear of sudden death. It's working for now.
It's amazing to write a letter to someone apart relatives, to be honest. This year, though, I managed to get a secret pen pal, which proved to be a fun experience, but the other person stopped answering, so it kind of died.
I don't know if I told you at school or on the train, but Masoud and Vernatis got me into helping, or let's say serving my duties as a prefect too. I'll be judging some duelling on a chessboard in a week. I'm going through the rules at the moment and... it's pretty complicated, even though I thought of myself as of a bright witch. Maybe games are something I should have a deeper look at, but I don't see much practical value for my development there.
How is it going anyway? Anything spectacular?
Your friend,
P.S. I realised that I can only send this letter to Pericles Dralt, hoping the owl will get it right as they always do. But where do you live?

Dear Pericles Dralt,
I am glad to hear that you are doing well- physically at least. Summer camp isn't anything too special, so you shouldn't be upset about missing out. Oh. If you have your doubts about your ability to keep secrets, maybe you should start keeping a diary journal so I can find it and read all your secrets. Or if a journal is too feminine for you, maybe find a very secret place to put notes, where no one important else will find them. I've found that gardens, and loose floorboards make for good spots. Its always good to have back-up if one day, you suddenly stop receiving lter letters.
Ah, yes the expectations that come with being an heir. I thankfully never really had to worry about learning names, or any of that nonsense, since my family usually did the hosting. Some of my family, usually tried to avoid involving me in such things. They seemed droll anyways. So, I can't say I'm particularly jealous of you. In any case, I hope you have a smashing time at your ball. If your father questioned the smell on your vest; you should probably check the rest of your clothes. Look for any strange tears, dirt, and blood. Wash anything that carries odd earthy smells. You can try sending me your torn garments, and I can sew them back together like knew new- if you don't know how to sew. Course you could probably use Repairo- though, your parents might question what you've been repairing. If your father is suspicious of your activities, perhaps we should be more cautious of what we put in our letters. I don't think he would be very happy if he became curious enough to read them. Though, if worse comes to worst, maybe tell your parents the truth leaving out details isn't technically lying. There are far worse consequences, than being pulled out of Hogwarts for being honest though I wouldn't like to see you go.
A stargazing event was held last night. Meenauh and I didn't go. I said We agreed that gazing at stars is not fun, when accompanied by a dozen hopeless goons girls- and boys. Though I think I would have liked to get my palm read there. Oh well. Maybe if I'm lucky enough, another oppotunit opportunity for getting my fortune told, will arise. I haven't found a camera yet for pictures, and all the events seem to be going swimmingly- I assume they are at least, I didn't go to most of them. There surprisingly hasn't been any fires yet. So thats good I suppose.

Letters From the Other Side
July 5th
Dear Xailah,
The ball was, as they say, "a bust". Either the hosts had a change of heart about inviting my family, or it really was cancelled in totality, which was a surprise. I don't mind balls too terribly. They can be interesting, but typically less pleasant if there aren't any familiar faces to spend time with. I suppose that is the one advantage summer camp has: you get to spend more time with friends from school. I am glad there haven't been any fires at least.
I never considered keeping a journal as effeminate. In fact, now that I think about it, maybe I should start to keep a log of my own. Sometimes I jot down notes to myself so that I don't forget things. You should see my notes trying to connect the bizarre events around the school from last year. Has there been no more news about our disappearing Headmaster?
I hope you, Meenauh and I can meet at the station. Sharing a compartment with you both was a great deal of fun, but if we're lost in the crowd, I'll keep a keen eye out for you in the Great Hall. Soon we can all have lunch together and talk about how tedious our summers were.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
-Pericles( @Xailah Alptraum )

Dear Meenauh,
I'm sorry your first day of Summer Camp was awkward and that Quidditch was boring, but I really am glad that you and Xailah are looking out for one-another this year. After experiencing a whole year at Hogwarts, I was worried for you, but she tells me there hasn't been so much as one fire yet! That's tremendous! It really is a relief to get letters from you as well. I do like the idea of a secret pen pal. Next year, I might have to consider getting one of those for myself. I think it would be fun to share (some) things with a mysterious stranger.
I wish I had something spectacular to share about. I did practice broom flying here at home- father's been training me, so to prepare me for having a nice broom of my own. We actually had a goblin friend of his visit to appraise a strange knife my sister found. Abigale- I think I mentioned her when we met- has been excavating an old Celtic dungeon discovered in Ireland. The dagger she found was of goblin make! I hope to explore and look for odd artefacts like her someday. Until then, I am home, flying a broom and being made to read lots of family history. Father says finishing one year at Hogwarts makes one eligible for more responsibilities. I'm really looking forward to being back at school.
Dueling on a chess board sounds strange and amazing. Was it sort of like wizard's chess, but with real persons? I don't doubt you'll get the hang of it. You have a keen mind when it comes to piecing together information and strategizing. I hope to hearing more about this game when we're all together again. Games are a good way to develop practical skills. You should ask Xailah about the Tarantallegra Tag game we played some time!
Stay safe, but do have fun,
-Pericles( @Meenauh Silmataurea )

Letters From the Other Side
The 15th of July, 2020
Late Evening
Hello, Pericles!
Writing to you after almost two weeks since the last owl. I hope you're doing fine and are safe and sound.
Chess Combat turned out to be a fascinating kind of game, but it was very tiresome to supervise as there were a lot of people and everyone was shooting spells all the way around. I'm glad there were enough adults to protect the crowd from randomly shot spells (there were a few!). All in all, everything ended great and it seemed everyone enjoyed it.
Something happened a couple of days ago. I am fine, although I might have not been. Did you know Xailah kept the doll? Yes, that doll. We destroyed it. We've burnt in in a campfire, because apparently (not proven, but the chance may be high enough after what happened to you in the forest) it tried to flip me over into the fire. They were Bluebell Flames, so I only lost my clothes, so I wasn't injured. But as the doll was from cloth, the flames took her for good. I talked to Xailah and I hope no more hag dolls would walk around children anymore.
I hope these days passed better for you than for us here.
Also, by the way, I've met this person recently — Breana — and she claims she is a 'rather good friend' of yours. I was really confused when I was talking to her as she kept blushing and stuttering when I was asking her about you. Well, she was mostly stuttering in general, but still. How come you've never mentioned her?
I am really looking forward to meeting you and Xailah on the way to Hogwarts! It's very soon! But first Croatia! I'll make sure to bring you both some rocks as presents!
Your friend,

Letter 3
Pericles,
A shame your little party ended before it even started. If I were hosting, I too would have second thoughts about inviting you. That was a joke. I think? At least you don't have to listen to adults talk about boring adult things- like politics, affairs, saucy scandals, divorces, or the icecubes melting in the ocean. A fire would make things a lot more interesting on my side. Not really.
Yes, you have a cuckoos mind. I remember, when we had first met, taking a peek at your notes from across the table- I still think I have that book list you gave me, by the way I have yet to find that book, Coraline- a journal could do you some good for keeping thoughts organized (I'll be truthful, they are no good for keeping secrets). Unless you enjoy the disorganization, and forgetting and remembering things. I know I sometimes do. Makes reading more interesting.
I have no information pertaining to Lears disappearance. However, I did see the strangest thing the other day in passing- professor Jensen and Browne (no they were not the strange thing, although they were acting rather peculiar), pushing a man around in a chair with spinny wheels. The man had the appearance of a veal calf. Small, and pale- not pale like you and I, a sikely sickly pale. He held himself in a way that implied he was afraid to touch the world... like he had not seen the sun in a very long time. I had never seen the man before. I suspect he might be a relative of one of the two professors. A grandfather who came to spend the summer with them, perhaps. If I hear any word on the Headmaster, you will be the first to know. Or would you technically be the second?
While on the topic of hearing things, I heard that Hufflepuff won their match against that other school. Drumstick? Durmstrang? I'd say lots of luck played a hand in their success. I also heard some very interesting stories a couple nights ago. I couldn't remember if I told you in my last letter, but professor Béatrice had organized a campfire event to share stories. I had to help set up, and oversee things. I did record some stories to share with you, but I'm afraid the script got ruined- Meenauh and I had to handle some miscreants, and my ink spilled. I'm sorry.
Meenauh and I will be sure to look for you at the station. And if we fail to find you, I will be looking forward to that lunch. I intend to tell you about Meenauhs house and family- if I ever get the chance to visit.
- X. A
The letter was strange. Not the contents- more so its lack of contents. There was no 'dear' to start the letter. No friendly signoff. Important things that should have been mentioned, could not be found. The hand lettering looked normal enough, though, through the combined observation of how the lines tapered, and overall absence of details in the letter; a person with keen eyes and acute problem solving skills could assume the message had been rushed. A fine blend of waning adrenaline and stagnant paranoia had seeped its way into the writers written words. Specifics were omitted. The author did not want to worry her intended reader. Maybe she should have written to him before Meenauh did.
In the letter, there was one lie. The writer claimed to know nothing new on the case of the missing headmaster; yet, had later explained that she had seen a man frequently in the company of several professors. She knew who this man was. She had yet to forget a face. That said, she had not the heart to tell Pericles the truth. A boy needed his heroes- he needed to see Lear for himself.
Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....
