Anastasia,

Immune to your charms? Bah! I don’t think that’s even possible. Your parents sound like they’re on another level. I mean, I know they’re usually quite blah, but from your letter, they sound particularly aggravating. I suppose mine will start acting up soon with my grades not being the best and my desire to be on the Quidditch team. I guess I’m quite happy to have chosen the summer camp instead of returning home for two months. I relate to the boredom you would feel; my summers have been full of it. If you were here, the fun we had would be paramount.

Don’t worry about the Quidditch match. The papers will probably give you a sensationalist view of what happened, so I’ll give you the proper play by play. As much as I don’t want to see the Puffs win anything, I’m forced to support them. I have faith that they’ll do a good job but those Durmstrang folks do look quite scary.

Have you ever been stargazing? That was our activity last night. Sounds romantic, doesn’t it? Could have been, if I had some special person to experience it with, even if the relationship between us was platonic. Instead, I stuck to a big group. They were totally wonderful, though. And I bet you would have liked it. You should do it when Hogwarts starts back up. Gather up all your friends and sneak out of the dorms at night. You’ll have a wonderful time!

I can’t wait to see Jaz. I think I’m more excited to see her than you. I should probably get a familiar of my own, but I doubt my parents would trust me to train it to avoid eating our house elf. What animal do you think I would suit?

I bought a few chocolate frogs and enclosed them. Time to start making up on our deal! And don’t be alarmed when you find the cards missing. I did say I would give you the frogs, not the cards. Hehe. Make sure to get your own flying practice in!

Dear Søren -
I absolutely agree we don't spend enough time together. Suffice it to say, I disagreed and argued with my family in practically every letter I sent home, and so it was a quick and firm "no" when I asked to go to summer camp. You have no idea how much I begged to see the Quidditch game. Sadly, they have somehow grown immune to my charms and wheedling, so I'm getting to spend my summer with my family. It would be almost peaceful if it weren't for the fact that I'm grounded and being lectured about practically everything I do. No, it really wouldn't be peaceful, it would just be boring. I wish I was there so badly! I suppose I shall just have to settle for your lovely letters.

I regret missing out on seeing new attractive faces nearly as much as I regret missing out on watching a major Quidditch game. The barbeque sounds like loads of fun. I really do wish I was there. I wonder if sneaking out of my bedroom at night and flying to the Quidditch stadium is a possibility... One way to find out I suppose.

I mean if you were really committed, you would sneak in and steal a broom to practice on at night. I'm kidding, definitely don't do that, as I imagine getting in trouble for stealing and breaking curfew at the same time would more than likely harm your chances at making the Quidditch team. Your flying is quite passable, so not practicing a bit during summer camp won't set you back too badly, especially if you practice often during August.

The pressed lavender is absolutely lovely, thank you! Jaz wanted to eat it, but she's been trying to eat everything lately. Did I mention that she's made it her life's mission to eat our house elf? I'm not entirely how she anticipates that working out for her, seeing as our elf is about twice her size. It's hilarious to watch though. My father disagrees, but he hasn't figured out how to get her to stop it yet.

Dear Søren -
I know! I have yet to meet anyone with their level of resistance. Perhaps they built up immunity by living with me so long. In general, parents in our circles seem to be a bit on the overbearing side, but my parents seem to have made an effort to excel at that. My grades are perfect, literally nothing but O's in anything, but in their words, "excellence is the expectation, not the exception". They aren't particularly fond of my passion for Quidditch, but there are so many other issues they have with me and my behavior that it rarely comes up. We would have had such levels of fun that all other fun is rendered meaningless, so perhaps it is for the best... Nope, scratch that, I still wish I had been able to go.

Durmstrang students are an entirely different breed. Despite my exceptional Quidditch skills, I don't think I would particularly want to face them. It would be a pity for the Hufflepuffs to lose, so for once, I am rooting for them.

I haven't been stargazing outside of astronomy. How was it? I shall definitely harrass everyone to sneak out with me. There's those pesky new rules about curfew and such, but that hasn't stopped me before.

Jaz is, in less than ladylike terms, a little shit. I love her so much and cannot wait for you to meet her. So far, there are exactly two people that are not me that she tolerates, but I am optimistic that she'll take a liking to you. For you, I would suggest either a cat (I'm biased) or a Pygmy puff. I needn't detail why toads and rats are completely disgusting options for pets, and since there's owls at school and I assume you have access to an owl at home, so unless you're particularly attatched to that idea, I don't see the point of getting one.

Since when do you even collect the cards? Not that I mind free chocolate, or any chocolate. I've been flying quite a bit lately, since it's practically the only thing my parents let me go outside for.

If you were being a rascal around Hogwarts, trashing the place and causing trouble, I would totally understand if this was their reaction. But they sound much too stringent. Has it always been like this? I mean, from the outside looking in, I could see that they were strict. They remind me of my own parents in that regard. I never thought they could reach those levels of crazy, though. Remind me to never complain about my parents again. You’re making me really miserable, thinking about all the things we could have done this summer. Here, have a totally realistic drawing of my sad face : (

Maybe it has to do with the madness going on around the school? Common room horrors and secret balls ending in disaster could definitely make any parent go mad. My parents got on my case about it too, but I may have fibbed a bit and told them I didn’t participate in any of the balls that went haywire. And well, I didn’t have to lie about the spider infiltration in the Slytherin commons. I still can’t believe I slept through that. The Gryffindor commons must be impenetrable, right? Hufflepuff and Slytherin’s rooms are prone to mass chaos.

These Durmstrang kids are quite the characters. Even I’m intimidated by them, and we both know I’m not frightened easily. Heh. Heh. Don’t comment on that. I can only imagine that their play style is as daunting as their image. I would rather not face them too, but I wouldn’t have minded if I was on a Slytherin team facing off against them. Good practice if we lose. Priceless bragging rights if we win.

I was really uninterested in the stargazing at first. I thought it would be like Astronomy and those classes are a complete bore. But it was more of just us laying around and having a good time, with amazing views of the night sky. There were fortunes being told as well, if I remember correctly. It was a really relaxing night and I think you deserve that as soon as you come back to school. Bah, forget about the curfew. They can’t keep us locked up for much longer.

Well, now it’s my mission to make Jaz love me. I’m going to be stocking up on some treats the next time I visit Diagon Alley, just for her. I don’t want an owl, that’s for sure. They’re as boring as Astronomy. I see them everyday. I like the Pygmy Puff idea, though! I’ll probably go with that. Though, it would be worth it to get a toad or rat just for the look on my parents’ faces.

I may have bartered away the cards in a very bad business decision here at the camp. Merlin, I need help.

Dear Søren -
They're stern, to be sure, but I suppose they are just doing what they think is best. Or something, I'm really not sure. Granted, I'm not entirely well-behaved at school, but I haven't done anything particularly bad that they've actually found out about. Parents are supposed to be strict and all, but sometimes I wonder...

That drawing was absolutely phenomenal, and I have sent it on to the Louvre. I expect you'll have quite a career in art if Quidditch or your parents' company doesn't work out.

I'm not sure the Gryffindor Common Room is impenetrable so much as it is more than used to the rowdiest bunch in the school. I love my house, and it's definitely the best, but good God, the things that go on in there make some of the school events look tame. I can say with complete honesty that I don't think anyone would notice if the place were to catch on fire or some of the things that have happened to the other Commons.

I'm going to decline to make a comment on whether or not you scare easily (Although just saying, one of us in the house known for bravery and it's not you).

I have to agree with you about Astronomy. One wouldn't think it would be as dull as it is, seeing as it's our one acceptable excuse to be out of the dorms past curfew, but it just manages to fail every expectation. The only thing I've heard to be worse than Astronomy is Divination. Not that that's stopped me from signing up for it, as I'll never say no to an excuse to drink tea, but I've heard it's the one thing worse than Astronomy. Then again, History of Magic is generally spectacularly noneventful. Still, we talk about wars and rebellions, so it's not the worst.

I'm not convinced Jaz loves anything or anyone other than food. Generally, she at least tolerates those who provide food though, so I'm sure you'll be able to gain her allegiance. If you get a rat or toad, I would advise finding a way to do so without your parents finding out and then slipping it into their chair or morning coffee. No particular reason, but I think that's an excellent plan. After all, would I steer you wrong?

Good Lord, Søren, I simply can't leave you unattended, can I? Summer is going to need to go by a lot quicker before you barter away more cards...
