Dear Reid,

I’m writing to let you know that I’ve left Hogwarts. It isn’t permanent but with everything that’s happened, I needed some time away. Well, my parents thought so anyway. I’ll keep up with my school work the best I can, but I hope you don’t mind if I bombard you with questions on current assignments and whatnot.

I’m sorry that I won’t be there to cheer you on tomorrow. With how hard you practice, I know you’ll be fantastic as always. Write to me when you’re able, I’d love to hear how it goes. As far as Quidditch goes, I’ve taken time away from it as well as the newspaper. I may get back into them when I return to school, but there’s no telling when I’ll come back yet. Don’t slack off while I’m away; studying is important!

Dadaí asked after you; how you’ve been doing and all. Everyone keeps telling me to congratulate you on Prefect again. I think even Granny Eithne’s proud of you, though she doesn’t show it. Remember that summer you visited and your dad sent along some cakes from Hungary? I tried to recreate them for you as a parting gift. I’m not very good in the kitchen though so you’ll have to pick off the burnt bits.

I’ll hopefully see you soon. Stay safe,

Dear Dymphna,

I'm glad to know you're safe, I was worried for a second that you got horribly ill or something. I can understand why you'd want some time away though, it's been the chaotic year as usual. I don't even tell my uncle half the things going on in school, I'm too worried he'll pull me out immediately. But if you have some questions on homework and exams, just ask, I'll even ask some of the others if I don't have an answer for you.

As for the game, I'm a little glad you weren't there! For good reasons, I took a horrible bludger that knocked me clean off my broom. I managed to get the captain I think, but the details are a little fuzzy. Honestly, embarrassing turn of events for me to be sitting in the infirmary with a broken arm. Sadly, we lost the skirmish too. But it's all well and good, I'm hoping to get some more practice in for the Durmstrang game we have coming up later.

Please send your family my regards, I miss talking to them and maybe I'll be able to come by on break and say hello? It'll take some convincing from my grandfather, but hopefully my uncle can work with me on that. But stay safe, miss having you around Dymph. I'll try not to fall behind on studies, no promises though. Hopefully we can talk soon and when you get back, we can catch up.

Reid!! I'm sending these herbs from Mamaí. I panicked and told her about your arm. I hope they help with the pain. Not that the madam in the infirmary isn't capable, of course! I'm also sending along some treats in case you'd like a snack. It wouldn't be hard to talk them into letting me visit considering how much they seem to care about you too, but I'm sure I'll be back at school in no time at all. Get well, stay safe! Enjoy the treats,

Dear Reid,

Firstly, how's your arm? Were they able to mend it properly? I hope that you're well and weren't too bored in the infirmary, or in too much pain. I haven't broken a bone but I can imagine what it must've been like. I suppose it's best for it to have happened where someone could immediately help you. Try not to push yourself too hard. I'm excited to see Hufflepuff win against Drumstrang, but whatever the outcome, I'd rather you be unharmed. Enough rambling, you don't need me fretting over you too much. Just know that I'm wishing you well.

Onto your original letter. There's no need to worry about me, I have everything under control kind of. I might not have said anything to my family if Nora and Elaine didn't work at Hogwarts. If they didn't hear it from me, they would have eventually found out through one of them. It's hard to pretend that things are normal, that Hogwarts isn't dangerous, when that isn't the case. I do appreciate the normalcy of studying together though, don't get me wrong. It was getting to me to the point where keeping it bottled in was a problem, so that's the main reason I left. Of course, the therapist they have me seeing is a wizard so I can talk freely. I don't blame you for not telling your uncle everything that's happened. Even just normal school activities like Quidditch are dangerous enough. Not that it'll stop us from playing. If I try out for Quidditch again when I return, get ready for Ravenclaw to kick your Hufflepuff butt. ;-P

My auntie taught me how to emote through letters, isn't it neat? Speaking of homework, you wouldn't happen to have any notes from Herbology, would you? My Nana let me tend to her gardens and I hate to admit that I made a mess of them. I guess I have a black thumb afterall. You know you're welcome here anytime, just don't look at the gardens. If you need someone to write a letter to them, I wouldn't mind asking my granny Eithne to. They might take to her better than anyone else, going by what you've told me of them. Let me know and I'll send word along.

Miss you but hopefully see you soon,
