Dear Alan,
Hi Alan. Its Jake. I hope you get this letter because its really important. I am really lucky I had a knut in my pocket to pay the letter fee.
George told me today about the ball and that we're going. I didn't even know about it. It's already tomorrow.
I dont know what your even supposed to wear to a ball. I have never been to one except for the maskerade. It was really embarassing then so I really want to be dressed right. You are my oldest friend. I bet you have probably been to a whole lot of balls. Do you know what to do?
Oh and don't worry I didn't tell anybody about it but I really think somebody should and if you do it then George can't get mad at me.
I really hope you get this. Give Cadmus a treat if you do.
Love,
Jake

Party Planning
The third year was sitting in his dorm as Cadmus swooped in through the opened window, using a makeshift shelf as his perch. With an impatient stare the owl extended its leg to which a letter was attached. That by now familiar image filled Alan with pleasant surprise as he expected it to be a letter from George who he would meet at the ball together. He was a bit worried whether the Hufflepuff might have changed his mind, he seemed a bit off lately but Alan could not really judge him for that. Threatening to get lost in his mind, Cadmus hooted impatiently and clawed at him as if he was desperate to get rid off the letter attached to his leg and Alan instantly leaned forward to relief the owl of the weight it had to carry. "There there...", he spoke softly and calmly before shuffling around on the desk to take a owl treat from a small box. A Niffler sticker aside from some of the ones Jake had given to him had found its way onto the wooden box with nimble engravings as if to decorate it further, giving it a somewhat childish look. Throwing the treat to Cadmus gently, who munched it into crumbs of dust within moments, the third year then decided to finally focus on the letter and opened the envelope.
As soon as he got the letter from the badger, a sigh escaped his lips as he read through all of it and finally reached the messily strike out text. He tried to decipher a few words, but stopped when he assumed that Jake must have not wanted him to read it for a reason and gave up on it. It was not like it was difficult to decipher, but the third year assumed Jake had not wanted him to read that part of the letter and did not want to be rude to go out of his way to decipher those words and their meaning. All he could tell from the first few words is that it was about a secret the younger boy successfully kept from others and was sure that the badger might just be proud about that success, before getting ashamed of himself bragging about it. The letter had not been from George after all, but the familiar hand-writing at the end of it lifted his mood as he shook his head with a grin. He was amused by the fact that George apparently charged Jake with a sickle per owl flight whereas Alan had sent letters back and forth between him and George all the time.
Skimming through the letter again, he read through the parts that Jake had written and glanced over to his own clothes that where folded over a chair, clothes he had picked for the ball just earlier that day. He shrugged and a grin spread over his face. No one else was in his dorm currently so he could take all the time to find a outfit for the smaller badger and was sure he would have to use the Shrinking Charm on the outfit of choice so that Jake could even fit into it. He was happy to help the first year and was surprised yet happy about the owl he had gotten from him. It was the first owl he had gotten from the shy boy and hoped that it would not be the last. But if George would let others use Cadmus to send him a letter, he would definitely have to think of some kind of symbol for George's and his letters so he knew that he would not be able to open some of the letters in public places after all George turned out to be someone who cared more for fun than rules, which begged to be broken by the students.
Hearing another hoot from the owl who fluffed up its feathers, Alan snorted in amusement as he shook his head at the feathery creature. "Patient now, will you?", he said with a mocking scolding tone, feeling at ease in the current situation. He stumbled over his words, but it clearly was nowhere near as bad when he was talking to someone. Here on his own his mind had the time to depict each of the words, making it easier yet slightly slower for him to pronounce and talk. But he was talking to an owl, so there would be no judgement from it, well not more than Cadmus judged the world and everyone on it either way.
Once he was done picking out a outfit and resizing it for Jake with moderate success as he had no idea what exact size the Hufflepuff had, plus their build differed as well, he sat down back at the desk wrapping the clothes up into a small parcel made of cloth holding it together with twine. Finally he began to write the letters to each of the boys.

Dear @Jake Morris,
I received your letter and have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised by it. Once I saw Cadmus I expected an owl from George but after reading through it, I have no reason to complain. I would love to help and hope that the outfit I picked suits your taste well enough. I would have gotten something that would suit your personality more, if I had more time for the outfit but I am sure that this one will do just fine.
I hope to receive many more letters from you in the future and look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the ball. I did not even know you would be attending as well, so I guess I have another friend to look forward to meeting at the event.
Greetings,
Alan VanesAs soon as he was done writing both of the letters, he would cast a temporary Shrinking Charm onto the parcel that would probably last for the duration of an hour at maximum, before attaching it to the owls leg. The parcel was around hand sized for now but will soon return to its original size and Alan was nervous about whether he had chosen something that Jake would like wearing. He attached both of the letters to Cadmus other leg and was once again happy that Cadmus was a big owl and would have no problem carrying the weight. Still the owl threw him an impatient look as the boy fumbled to attach all of the deliveries. Once he was done, the owl flapped his wings patiently, lightly smacking the Gryffindor in the face with the feathers as if to get him to hurry and distance himself. With a huff Alan finally stepped back and told Cadmus to bring his delivery to Jake and George into the Scamander Suite. Feeling mocked by the owl's deadpan look that followed, the third year just huffed and muttered something about being careful or that the owl might not get any more treats from him, to which the owl finally took off for flight, spreading its wings majestically as soon as it was out of the window. Again he came to the realization that George's owl had quite the attitude and was amused by the odd match made in the pet store.April 24th 2020
Dear @George Henry,
I was happy to see that you have added a note to Jake's letter and hope the holidays have been pleasant for you so far. I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow. I hope it will be fun, since I never actually attended school events of this kind. Sadly the Easter break is nearly over and I assume time will get more busy again once school will start. But I have enjoyed the break so far, as it had given me the time to meet a few new faces and play some games on the grounds.
I wish you a pleasant evening,
Friendly greetings,
Alan Vanes
P.S Are you actually charging Jake to use Cadmus as delivery owl?

@Alan Vanes @George Henry
The Great Hall had already begun to empty, but some of the smallest Hufflepuffs were still finishing up their dinner. Jake had gotten full quickly, and was now draped over a bench, staring up at the ceiling, and watching the clouds float by in the darkening orange sky. He lay on his back, his hair just barely touching George's leg as he waited for his friend to finish his meal, not feeling like drawing today or speaking much either.
He was startled out of his skygazing by the feeling of pinpricks on his upper chest, and raised his chin to see an owl perched upon him.
"Cadmus...?" the eleven-year-old replied in surprise, eyeing the letter that remained tied to the bird's leg. Jake unpinned the letter and held it up above his head. It was from Alan! As Cadmus hopped off of him, Jake swung his legs up and sat up quickly. He put forth his hand to stroke the owl gently, as he felt it prod him for attention. At first he thought maybe Cadmus wanted a treat, but it wasn't just that. Cadmus wanted to give him something. For the first time he noticed the little parcel.
Jake opened the envelope, realizing that George next to him already had one as well. Confused at what type of gift might have been sent him Jake opened the letter and read through it. His face started with surprise and then a smile as he realized that Alan had so kindly offered him a solution to his problem. It didn't make the troubling feelings swirling inside of him go away but it was one question answered.
Soon, Jake was holding a fancy ball outfit...inside of the palm of his hand.
"How small does he think I am?!" Jake demanded, baffled.

Dear Alan,
Thank you so so so so so so so so much for sending me clothes. At first I thought that they were too small but then they got bigger. I guess you did that so Cadmus could carry it right? That's a really cool spell. They look really good. I don't know how to put them on but George says he can help me.
Yes I am going to the ball. But I I look forward to seeing you at the ball too.
Oh George said he can't write you back right now. He is busy getting ready for the ball but he is going to later. I think he is trying to find what to wear. I asked him if I should ask you but he said no.
I can definately write you lots of letters but I will have to wait until my next allowance because this is the last knut I have right now. You should come eat with us at breakfast tomorrow so we can say hi.
Love,
Jake
