Dear Wren Caster;

You may not remember me but I remember you. My name is Victor Moore, I am a third year Slytherin. We met briefly at the Valentines Day Tea. I was not matched up with you unfortunately, but I suppose when fate fails to intervene that means I have to take initiative.

But yeah, I remember seeing you at the Valentines Day Tea. I remember you because you were the pretty girl standing next to the popular out-going guy. I was excited to see you for the first time because you seemed nice, you smiled a lot and you did not make me feel like you were trying to get something out of me. In my House it is somewhat an expectation. I am ashamed to admit, I was happy when you said that you and the boy, I think his name was Rafael (the Quidditch Captain), was not your boyfriend.

Not that I have much of a chance, but I should give this a shot I guess.

I think you're really nice, awesome, pretty, cool, smart... and I would like to take you to the Blossom Ball. I can totally understand if the answer is no, when you have friends like a Quidditch Captain, I am probably pretty uninteresting in comparison. But just in case you have a massive loss of judgement and wish to give me a shot, I will try to be the most adequate date you hopefully will not regret.

Hopefully Yours;

Victor Moore

Dear Victor Moore,

I will have to accept you proposition. For both the reasons that you seemed just as interesting to me as I did to you and also for the fact that I think I can help boost your self-esteem. *insert laugh here*

Your letter said that if I were to accept, then you thought I would have a massive loss of judgment to give you a shot, but I truly do not think that is the case. Any girl that turned down someone as handsome, sweet and gentlemanly a boy as you would be pretty stupid in my opinion. Thank you for inviting me! I will see you at the ball in my prettiest dress!
Yours truly,

Wren Caster

That letter made the pessimistic wizard-born's day. I expected a polite declination. The fact that a pretty girl that was not absolutely terrifying but willing to come to the dance with me elated me, she was totally out of my league but I would enjoy her lack of judgement for the duration it continued.

I would write a short letter in response, it lacked the formality of the previous.
YES!

Correction-- the prettiest girl there in probably the prettiest dress.

A bit more (well a lot more) casual than the last one. Thank goodness the ball was soon, hopefully she would not come to her senses before then. I, on the other hand, had work to do if I wanted to prepare for the ball.

So I would write another letter. This one to someone I felt would know the girl better than I did, @Rafael D'Spacito.
I need your help. I asked a girl you know to the dance and she is totally out of my league. What does she like? What does she do on her spare time? Does she like flowers or is she allergic? Does she eat candy? Is fashionably late just late to her? Would I be a complete dork if I waited at the common room door to escort her?

Victor Moore
The only problem, the owl neglected to mention the girl's name. I remembered to use my full name at the very least. Eh, he would figure it out!

Dear Victor,

Hey, mate! Gotta say, I was a bit surprised to get a letter from you – how’ve you been? School been treating you well? Anyone you need me to beat up for you?

I’m afraid, my friend, that I’ve familiarized myself with a lot of women over my many months at Hogwarts. Are you going on about Wren? In the case that it is my lovely friend you’re speaking of, I have a lot of input in that area! She’s actually pretty simple, as far as likes and dislikes go – for one, the girl absolutely loves reading, especially books by Cassandra Claire, and above all things, values someone to talk to. Even if they don’t do any talking. Prepare yourself for a lot of one-way conversation. Her spare time, as far as I know, is mostly full of studying, reading, and practicing her beating on the field. After all, she is a lovely beater, isn’t she? She loves flowers – especially lilacs, I’ve noticed, as they always seem to make her smile. Candy, as far as I can understand, is a yes. Just, don’t bring her too much, or she’ll feel self-conscious about herself. Women, am I right? Fashionably late, I believe in her opinion, is just fashionably late? I suppose this is the case, anyways, as she’s late to a lot of her classes for no apparent reason. And in my opinion, I think she would be absolutely flattered if you waited for her! Girls are just like that. The more romantic, the better.

Best of luck, mate, and have fun at the ball!

Sincerely Yours,

PS: That's my friend you're taking to the ball. If you break her heart, I’ll break your face. Watch your ass, bro.

Victor was flattering.

Wren blushed reading his response to her acceptance. No, it wasn’t long, but it said she was going to be the prettiest girl in the prettiest dress. Now, she doubted that was true, but it was sweet none the less.

She was very happy that she had accepted his invitation because Victor was a real gentleman. She decided to owl Rafa about him.
Dear Rafa,

Do you remember Victor Moore from the Valentine’s Ball? Well, he invited me to go with him to the Blossom Ball! I am so excited!! You have any advice to me about boys?
She sent the owl with joy in her heart and a smile on her face.

[font=Segoe Print]It wasn’t much later in the day, that the young Captain would receive yet another letter. The very sight of the owl, pristine white feathers, beady black eyes, once again put him on edge, his eyes glaring down at the bird as it waddled over, presenting him with yet another letter. He supposed he’d never enjoyed responding to messages, as such an action required the use of his brain, an organ in which it pained him to utilize. Too much thought, too much brainpower. And he already slaved over homework. A sigh escaped his lips, his hand coming up to rub his eyes as he sat in the courtyard, previously basking in the lovely outdoors. Well, lovely. Better get on this one, then. He’d wasted no time at all, in plucking the small note from the foot of the lovely owl, his deep brown eyes immediately surveying the letter in his fingertips – from Wren? What were the freaking odds of that?

His surprise shortly turned into slight amusement, an eyebrow raising and small grin playing on his lips as he continued to read the contents of the letter. Wren wanted advice. Advice. And, of all the many, many students who’d attended the school, she'd asked him, of all people. What was he? The freaking love doctor? Was it that obvious, that he crushed on anything with two legs and a nice face? He shook the thought from his head abruptly, digging in his pocked for some sort of writing utensil. No matter, he’d make quick work of this one –

Dear Wren,

It’s quite nice to hear from you! Been well? Having a lovely time at the school? Granted, it’s been a little while since we’ve really gotten to talk – how would you feel about having lunch sometime? Perhaps we can even make time to chat at the ball, when our partners are off mingling.

Hrmm, advice about boys. That’s certainly a topic, isn’t it? I wish I could help you, I really do – however, I’m afraid Victor and I are quite different, in tastes. At least, I can only assume by his withdrawn nature and such. What advice I can give you – go easy on the poor fellow. He obviously thinks he’s in over his head. Don’t ask him any questions about the Murder unless he brings it up, yeah? Oh, and tell him he looks good, or that he’s being a gentleman – you know, small reassurances. Don’t ditch him at the Ball, either. You know what? Just be his friend. What more could a guy ask for?
Sincerely Yours,

PS: If he puts his hands in the wrong place, don’t hesitate to give me a shout. The guy’s a bloody third year, and a teenager at that – Victor Moore or not, I’d keep my eyes on him.

Owls to: @Rafael D'Spacito @Victor Moore
╚══════════════✣══✶══✣══════════════╝
Wren got an owl back from Rafa. She wanted to respond to him as well as Victor reassuring him. Laughing at Rafa's threat, she thought 'He can be so protective sometimes. Like an older brother' She replied to him still chuckling.
"I've been pretty good! How about you? School's been getting harder and harder. I would love to have lunch sometime. I feel like we've kind of gone our separate ways and have gotten so engrossed in homework we haven't had time to just get together and chat.

In response to what you have said about Victor, I have no intentions of breaking his heart or hurting him in any way. If he puts his hands anywhere that is uncalled for, he will not only give up his status as a gentleman, but you will have to get in line to punch him. honestly, though I do not think he is that kind of person.
Sincerely,

Wren now decided to send an owl to Victor hinting at what she was going to wear. She had already gotten her mom to owl her a dress she had been eying when she was back over Christmas break. It was so beautiful and she couldn't wait to see the look on Victor's face when she saw it.
Dear Victor,
The ball is coming up and I have my dress and everything, but I was wondering how you were doing? The sky is a beautiful blue today, isn't it? I might go on a long walk around the grounds. I cannot wait to see you and dance with you at the ball. I hope you are a good dancer because I am not the best in that area.
Sincerely yours,

P.S. Look to underlined words about a hint.

Owls to @Rafael D'Spacito
Victor got his letters. One warning him of impending death if he steps over any lines. Another from an amicable girl that did not seem too scary. He might survive this. Yeah, he just might! There were still a few things that he needed to take care of. He wanted to do this right but he was rather certain he was going to mess something up.

He would get this final letter and study it. He was no Ravenclaw, he wore green for a reason. He looked too high (like trying to get a date with Wren) and somehow succeeding (like now). There was a snowball's chance in heck that he was going to bring the oddly worded letter to Vladimir, the smart one, to decipher. It took a few days of staring but his little snake brain would finally catch the obvious underlined hint. That of course created a new mystery.

Oh god, why do I need to know sky blue!

Panicked and dismayed, he would spent his time in the library studying muggle culture. He did not understand it but he tried. There was nothing archived about sky blue being remotely relevant.

An internal scream!

He would be forced to interview muggleborns, there were some in this school.

"Excuse me ma'am -- does sky blue long mean anything to you."

He was shooed or given a confused look with each inquiry.

"Sir, if a girl tells me sky blue long... what does it mean?"

A raised brow, a huh or a noncommittal shrug was what he got in response.

She speaks riddles!

He would sent Rafa an owl.
SKY BLUE LONG. What does this mean! SKY BLUE LONG!
He forgot to sign it.

[font=Segoe Print]I wouldn’t be long until the Gryffindor Captain would receive yet another letter – he would be eating his lunch in the Great Hall and working on his Transfigurations Paper, when a bird would swoop unusually low, circling overhead as if it were to land nearby. It was funny, how an owl could ruin a perfectly good lunch. At the very sight of the lovely bird, the boy immediately jolted, spitting pumpkin juice all over his homework as his eyes widened on the animal. No way it was for him. Such a thing would be utterly absurd. However, the owl certainly wasn’t going anywhere. He would attempt to defend himself by yeeting his goblet at the animal, the cup missing its mark only by a hair. Then, having received a few strange looks from those sitting around him, he groaned, letting the bird land in front of him.

Opening the letter once more with a dejected sort of air, his eyes quickly skimmed over that which it entailed –

Victor wanted information on a riddle? What, was he a Ravenclaw now? It wasn’t like he tried to hide his stupidity from people – after all, he was the reason his house lost points on a daily basis, due to both inattentiveness in class and unruly nature towards his superiors. Of all the people in the school, the boy once again contacted him? Flattering really – however, the Gryffindor was left to wonder how many allies Victor had, and why he was the one owled over so many other options.

However, the more he looked at the clues at hand, the more intrigued he became. This certainly wasn’t an ordinary riddle – it went unsaid that, while the boy struggled academically, he was quite brilliant when it came to connecting the dots. Sky blue… long… his train of thought was booking, his eyes quickly widening as the answer quickly revealed itself. The dress. She’s going on about her dress, isn’t she?

Tearing off a scrap of paper from his transfigurations assignment, he began writing –

Dear Victor,

It took me a second, don’t get me wrong – I think she’s referring to her dress? Girls really go for that sort of stuff, yeah?
