Grime duty PV Detention Closed

Kaegen Deathmote walked quickly along the dungeon corridors, moving as smoothly as he could manage. His motions were like a fogbank swiftly rolling in, however it looked uncomfortable. It was hard to place a finger on it, but it was almost like the young ravenclaw was having trouble walking on the stone floors of the dungeon. If one’s eyes were indeed sharp enough to catch the mostly concealed tribulation the prefect’s feet were going through, then one would probably also be easily able to catch the small metal bucket clutched in the boy’s hands.

He arrived at the agreed-upon location in the dungeons, an especially grimey, mossy, disgusting corridor that didn’t serve much of a purpose. There was a leak in the ceiling from where some water had made its way in from the great lake. He placed the bucked down, the two messed up stiff brushes sloshing around in some clean water. It wasn’t much, and it wasn’t going to be easy. But it was called detention for a reason, wasn’t it?

The dungeon’s dim light, provided by a few torches spread out here and there along the wall flickered, casting an eerie light upon the already quite eerie enough boy. If he was only a little bit more comfortable on the hard stone floors it was not quite out of the question for him to move down into the winding cold passages. If there was a little mist here to obscure the vision it would have been perfect.

The large umbrella was not with the young ravenclaw, stashed away in some secret place. He would not be needing it today, not if he was going to stay down there and watch two mentally deficient students scrub the floors ceilings and walls until all the grossness was done and dealt with. They would be arriving shortly, and if they didn’t then he would be forced to go and talk with a professor.

As soon as they got there, he immediately set about explaining the task to them.

”One brush per person, use the water in the bucket. Make this corridor clean. You can leave when you’re done.”

The moss and grime was disgusting, giving off a foul smell, each new kind of slime was more disgusting than the last, some felt like toothpaste, others like a first custard or a overly strong jello. Kaegen had grown up in the swamps and didn’t exactly mind the smell. Still, he knew how slippery the already treacherous stone floor could be and decided prudently to step back and watch the two students placed in his charge from a more reasonable distance.

Godmoding of Kaegen approved by him

Midas slowly but steadily walked behind the Ravenclaw Prefect. "Detention?!?" he had exclaimed when he heard the Prefect. "Me?" The thought was unimaginable. And yet, as Midas followed behind Kaegen, it felt too, too, real. When the Prefect stopped, Midas looked around at where he was. He just saw a rather dark and disgusting corridor in the dungeons. What in the world was he to do here? Write lines? There were no indicators of a desk or a table, and he had been told not to bring his parchment or quills.

”One brush per person, use the water in the bucket. Make this corridor clean. You can leave when you’re done.” he heard the Prefect say. This was going to be disgusting. At least he wasn't exactly missing much from the Summer Camp. He had only signed up as going back to home would be rather lonely - his parents rarely visited. Oh well. Who knew it was possible to get detention during Summer Camp? Congrats. Midas learned something. "Such a useful piece of information!" he grumbled out loud.

Upon hearing this, Kaegen replied "Your welcome." Midas snapped to attention. He had momentarily forgotten about the Prefect watching him. "That wasn't- It was- nevermind!" Midas hastily stuttered out. He walked over to where Kaegen had left the buckets of water. He bent down and looked into the bucket. Contrary to the surroundings, the bucket of water was rather clean. There were two brushes inside.

He turned his head the direction of the Prefect and made sure he wasn't watching. Plunging his hand inside his robes, he took out what he had sneaked in - a few Wizard Crackers. Midas hastily shoved them into his pocket before the Prefect noticed what he was doing. He then grabbed a brush and began to work.

The whole way that they walked, Marco didn't say a word. He hadn't gotten time to get proper medical attention to his burnt hand, and dear lord, let him tell you it stings like ever-loving hell. He only slightly lifted his head when he heard a bit of snark from Midas. He didn't care. As far as Marco was concerned, this was Midas' fault. Whatever, the sooner they get this over with, Marco can go back to his cabin and write to Lyrell. He needs to vent to her a little bit, and it had been a while since they had last properly spoken.

With a small sigh, Marco grabbed one of the brushes in his injured hands, looking to Midas with eyes that seemed unbelievably cold in the face of someone who's overall aesthetic is very warm and sweet. It's something he got from Lyrell, her dead glare when she was angry, the emotionless features she reflects when she feels her anger and turmoil burning away at her insides, though her face is stone and is unwavering to her discorded inner scorn.

But just like Lyrell, Marco says nothing, despite the fire growing in his gut. With his brush in hand, he gets to work on the disgusting floors.

The two boys soon got to work, although one of them seemed to have crippled hands. That didn’t bother him so much as the fact that he hadn’t noticed the hands when they had met in the forest. Had he been too wrapped up worrying about the possibility that he would miss something that he had, in the end, actually missed something?

The boy that came first, the one who had thanked Kaegen about the information or something, was strange. It wasn’t just his odd grumbling tone of voice, it was also the fact that he hadn’t offered any resistance. The ravenclaw prefect had been so sure that they would try some form of uprising that he had made sure that they would not bring their wands.

The other boy seemed a bit more dangerous than the first, despite his crippled hands. His eyes seemed harsher, more predatory. All in all less human than the first’s. Something in Kaegen’s head was telling him that he should really know the first persons name. That he was in ravenclaw or something, and that the prefects should really be paying attention to the people in the dorms.

But the face wasn’t important enough for him to remember, and so he stood there, waiting for the detentionees to complete their disgusting task

"what were you guys doing in the forest?"
You start to clean the floors, still a ways to go.
