@Reid Kovacs @Phaedra Stavrou @Max Avery
The darkness engulfed her like a blanket. For an eternity, it was her only friend. There was no sense of urgency, no worries or memories. Dymphna ceased to exist. Only as a body tucked away in the hospital wing - finally safe.

Everything came back into focus slowly. Her blue eyes didn't want to open at first but when they did, it was all a blur. Dymphna glanced around the room, unseeing. The voices sounded as slow as molasses. Her brows furrowed as she struggled to understand what happened. Why was she in bed? It was obviously not her own room - the bed too hard; the room too big and white; too many people. Hospital wing, she thought, finally making out the shape of someone close by.

She blinked a couple of times, realizing that it was a familiar messy haired boy. The voices were getting clearer too. "Reid," she croaked out. "You look awful." His tux was ripped. Wait, a tux? Yes, that's right. They were at the masquerade. She was chatting with Phaedra and Max and then... what happened? Something terrible. Why else would she be in the hospital wing? Her memories were coming back slowly too but she couldn't for the life of her remember what exactly happened - that she had been incredibly stupid enough to try and take on a giant with spells that wouldn't effect them.

Had the giant swatted her away, as it did to the boys? They were important to her, weren't they? Why couldn't she remember? Dymphna gave a gasp, struggling to sit up as a jolt of pain ran through her. "Giants in the school!" There was no sense in her getting up. Everything was being taken care of already, but she felt a sense of urgency to do something. It was then that the matron appeared, shooing her friend away with the promise that he could visit later on in her recovery. She watched him go in a panic, not wanting to be left alone, but the matron was already giving her something to help her sleep. She caught sight of another familiar face [Oliver] before she was out like a light.

Time passed slowly. Her family was there, voices reaching out in comfort and support but she couldn't open her eyes to see them. Dymphna desperately wanted to see them. There were a few voices that she couldn't recognize, even though they felt familiar. Someone brushed a strand of hair from her face. There was a hand to hold, to squeeze whenever it felt a bit too much. Who were they? Finally, the darkness let her go and when she opened her eyes, she saw many familiar faces.

Her unlikely best friend Phaedra and one of her newest friends Maxwell. Then there was Reid whom had been in this very bed too many times for her liking. In lieu of greeting, she weakly pulled herself into a more comfortable, upright position. It was then that she realized that she wasn't in her green party dress, instead dressed in the comfortable clothes of a patient. The makeshift bandages that Ruthie applied had been removed and deposed of ages ago and healing spells were used but she still hurt. The pain from before wasn't something she remembered either. For now, her mind was doing her the favour of blacking it all out. "What happened to me?" The blonde finally asked, confused, curious and still somewhat fearful. She wanted answers all the same.

His head tilted to his appearance at the mention of his wear, looking at his white tux, which wasn't so white anymore. He set the wood piece aside and glanced around, looking for her savior in sight. Reid seemed to be quiet at first and at a loss for words as she finally came to herself and tried to sit up. "Wait -" He placed a hand on her shoulder and sharply inhaled to exhale a second later when she decided to lay back.

When time passed, he gave space and he was left to just sit aside and dwell on what happened. Reid listened to the nurses talking over her, hiding his unreadable expression on the other side of the curtain that hid Dymphna. He looked at his shadow, staring at it for a while to see his hunched stature. Defeated, he felt like he hadn't done much in the chaos.

Sure, he broke a door down with another person, but that was it aside from the help he tried to lend. His uncle's voice swam in his head, 'owl me if you ever need me'. He needed him now, perhaps some guidance or some boost of morale. Was this school going to prepare him for the world outside? Was he or his friends even going to make it through the school?

It was in the past, he still had his friends and that was perhaps all he could really care about. Reid was worried of how many people he'd only be able to graduate with in the end. He heard the question that Dymphna posed and it drew him from his thoughts. Reid came from behind the curtain, his bow now a mere strand as it hung around his neck.

"Lots of erm ... things happened." Reid couldn't imagine what she had gone through and tried not to directly mention what happened to her. "But it seems people are safe now, somewhat. You are too, so that's a relief. I just wouldn't move so much yet." He brushed his hair back as he was trying to gather his words and thoughts, some coherence so he could explain to her exactly what had gone down. But she might need care before he stressed her out over the whole ordeal. "... Did you want some water?"

"Trouble usually finds me."
