Frozen Solid
Airlia couldn't get over the fact of what had just happened. The events of Primrose falling to the lake and not knowing how to swim replayed over and over in her thoughts. She worried gravely over the girl she'd saved from drowning. She almost felt frozen solid. Her skin felt like ice.
All the while Airlia felt fine. The coldness was almost homey. She'd gotten used to temperatures like this in Finland and as odd as it was to say, she'd almost missed the feeling of being cold.
When Airlia and Primrose were nearing the hospital wing, Airlia offered encouraging words to the girl. She had almost completely stopped shivering but didn't feel any warmer. He body temperature hadn't risen almost at all. And Airlia knew that was bad.
"We're almost there." She said and pulled the girl along as she pushed open the double doors to the infirmary. "Nurse? Are you here?" Airlia called out, helping the Primrose onto a bed.
She started looking around but couldn't see the nurse anywhere. "Look you need warm clothing. I think there should be extra clothes somewhere here."
Airlia looked around and indeed found some basic black clothing, a shirt, and long pants at that, from a drawer nearby.
She took the clothes over to Primrose, and closed the privacy screen, staying on the outside to let the soaked girl change.
That's when the nurse rushed inside. A student stood by the doors awkwardly and then twirled around and left: "Thanks!" Airlia yelled after the student remembering her from the hallways of before. That student must have informed the nurse to get here after seeing them soaked and shaking.
Airlia could hear the nurse hassling over Primrose and while she waited, she walked over to the potions cabinet, grabbing the pepper up potion. This was used far too often back at home to treat people with colds and severe hypothermia.
Airlia handed the potion over to the grateful busy nurse without a word and waited.

The hufflepuff was grateful to have new clothes, the warm fabric heating her up faster than she thought; though her eyes wandered over to the other students coat hanging onto the bed as she shakily sat down. The nurse was almost too much at once for Primrose, the familiar face fussing over her with a worried expression and quick words- causing the girl to flinch as things went too fast for her already tired and hurting head. She was promptly put in the hospital bed with a soft push, forced to lay down and put underneath the warm covers with a sharp comment about how the Nurse was getting real tired of worrying for her- which did make the hufflepuff girl laugh a little.
The Pepper Up potion was foreign to her and she hesitated drinking it, and she quickly felt the warmth spread through her body; and she was sure the ill side-effect of smoke coming out of her ears was there as well.
''You'd think they would have figured out the side effects since it was made'' She shakily huffed, the nurse sighing at her comment.
''I do not want you out of this bed until you have stopped shaking Miss Edwards, I'm going to go inform your teacher for your next lesson what is happening- the same for you Miss. Winter, I hope you don't mind me throwing this clumsy little lady at you for the moment being'' With that she let one last look of worry fall on Primrose before she rushed off, she clearly didn't want to be away for too long should something happen; but she also couldn't let the girls grades potentially suffer for this either.
The room fell silent when the doors closed, other than Primrose shaking with some teeth clattering, with the potion in her hands she looked at the girl; shame in her eyes.
''I'm sorry'' she repeated, quickly looking down at her hands. ''I should've looked where I went- now I messed up your next class and most likely...gave you a cold or something'' She whispered, she was about to cry again. She could feel it.

"Hey don't worry about it." Airlia said and sat down on the bed opposite of Primrose. She smiled softly, glad that the girl seemed to be returning to a normal tone of skin color.
She was sure the girl would be alright with the amount of fussing the nurse had done over her. Airlia was still slightly uncomfortable with getting the hospital bed wet from her clothes. She noticed a drain under her feet on the floor and started squeezing water from her hair and clothes. "Even if I do get a cold then I'll just come here and take the same potion you just drank. Not the best taste but at least it'll get rid of my cold."
"Anyway, you're from my house right? I think I've seen you in the common room or something." Airlia mumbled and reached over to touch the girl's forehead. She definitely felt warmer now and the only redness left on her skin was that of a blush type of redness on her cheeks.
Airlia walked over to a towel resting on a bed she'd just noticed and started rubbing her hair dry.
She thought back to how carefree the girl had been before plummeting to the water, and how panicked she'd been when she feared for her life. The girl laying on the bed was quite different. She was calm but not as relaxed as she'd been before. That was understandable, the girl, after all, had gone through a near death experience.
It looked really cozy between the covers of a hospital bed so after hanging up the towel to dry, Airlia plunged to the warm depths of a hospital bed right next to the one that Primrose was in.

''I'll worry about it forever'' Primrose Sighed, rolling over and looking at her new uh- friend?''I'm sure the nurse wouldn't mind if you borrowed more clothes. You will get super sick from that.'' Worry was in her eyes as she looked at, Miss Winters was it? She seemed extremely kind, well she did just save Primrose life so maybe she was a bit biased but still.
''Yeah, I've seen you around in class as well so- I assume you are a first year as well and I'm not going insane from the lake water?'' She let a tired smile fall on her face as she looked at the girl curiously, she had despite her extroverted self- not really talked with many her age around the school in her house; sure the upper classmen all knew her pretty well- mainly because she met them falling down stairs trying to rush to her classes which normally was under their breaks, but her point stood that she had bad luck getting to know people her year.
''Do you have a first name or are you officially 'Miss Winter' to me now? Savior Winter?'' Primrose was getting more comfortable as her temperature got better, but the tired and slightly panicky twitches of her hands and face was still there. She pushed herself closer into the covers, pulling them up to her face a bit more as the Nurse could be heard returning, more spare clothes.
''These are for you miss Winter.'' She stated with a smile, explaining that their teacher had excused them before walking off to get more of that awful potion for her new friend and life-savior. She could still feel her heart beating quickly and it was a miracle she hadn't gone into shock yet...Yet. One can never be too certain with an Edwards, her mother broke her leg and didn't notice for like- an hour once.

Airlia smiled at how worried the girl seemed and closed the privacy screen between them so she could change into warm clothes. "It's Airlia Winter." She said with a smile: "I told you by the lake but you were pretty out of it so I'm not surprised you don't remember."
She sighed as she got warm clothes on her body and sat back down on the bed, opening the privacy screen so she could see Primrose again.
"You're the one that's bee running into everyone right? I heard some girls talking about how you smacked into a girl that had some sort of a nature name. Snow? No. Rain? No that's no it. Oh! River or something, right?"
Airlia gave an open laugh at that remembering how apparently that girl wasn't the only one this clumsy girl had literally run into. Perhaps she had a bad vision? Or she was cursed with bad luck?
Airlia took her shoes from the ground where she'd left them. She turned them upside down and heard water fall out and splash right on the tile floor. She frowned and thought: 'My favorite pair.' These shoes were the only ones she'd chosen and packed herself. All the others her mother picked out. They were more focused on... The outside of the shoe and how stylish it was rather than how comfortable they were to walk in. Her mother had even packed her three pairs of high heels. What was she going to do with those? This was a school, not a fashion show.

''Airlia'' She tried, saying it a few more times before nodding to herself, hugging the pillows slightly as she yawned. These hospital beds were wayy too comfortable for a school.
''Oh! River or something, right?'' One could see Primrose visibly cringe as the familiar name popped up.
''Don't remind me. I'm going to send every first year to the medical wing within the first month I swear...I got a Gryffindor sent here once by falling down the stairs'' She huffed at the memories, displeased by her own clumsiness.
''To be fair though most of the time I fall it's my cousin tripping me'' That came out a lot more angry than she had intended, the memory of her cousin doing something good at least seeing as she got some energy back.
''That did not sound good'' Primrose looked over the edge of the bed, the wet floor looking like a water spirit or something had gotten killed on the spot. ''How..did all of that collect inside your shoes?'' She questioned, raising an eyebrow and getting quite surprised when a sneeze escaped her paired with smoke out her ears. There was that potion side-effect she waited on. ''Oh come on..''
The nurse came back eventually however, placing the potion on the table between the two beds, telling Airlia to drink the whole thing and quickly putting a cool head on Primrose forehead.
''You two are staying here, seriously. If I come back and you both are gone I'm sending the entire faculty after you two!'' She called as she walked over to another student who entered, a bad stomach it seemed as she clutched her sides with a pale expression.
''What does she think we are going to do? Jump into the lake again?'' Primrose huffed, the idea causing her to shiver.

Airlia couldn't help but giggle at the girl's antics: "Cousins are the worst." Airlia said with a roll of her eyes thinking back to her cousins back in Finland. Always whining about how their parents would be better suited as leaders than Airlia's while they only think of themselves and respect nothing but power.
Airlia just shrugged when asked about the little puddle on the floor from her shoes. When the girl sneezed and smoke came from her ears as if she was a train, Airlia cringed. She hated the pepper up potion. She'd drank more than her fair share of it back at home. It seemed that whatever happened to her it was the answer to everything.
'You got caught in the rain, take this Pepper-Up Potion.'
'Was that a cough?' 'No.' 'Well take a Pepper-Up Potion just in case.'
'Oh, you're feeling a bit down. Take a Pepper-Up Potion.'
When the nurse stormed in again with a smile, she left a potion for Airlia, telling her to drink it before going to help a sickly looking student by another bed.
Airlia grabbed the potion with a sigh and popped the cork open and was about to drink it when Primrose made a quip about them jumping back into the lake. The second the words left the girl's lips, Airlia couldn't handle her amusement. She couldn't help a broad smile and a cheery exited and annoyingly high-pitched giggle from escaping her mouth.
"Maybe we should try the forbidden forest this time. See how close to losing our lives we get this time before we make our escape." Airlia laughed and added: "Because the lake just wasn't dangerous enough to quench our thirst of trouble and adrenaline high."
Once her laughter subdued Airlia added on a more serious tone: "I think I should have a nickname for you. Primrose is far too long. So I was thinking Rose, Prim, Ros or just Ri. But you need to choose since I can't. They're all so cute."

The laughter bubbling from her new friend was infectious, the nurse sending a look back when Primrose laughter escaped her, despite her trying her best to not laugh.
''I don't know- I think we should try free-falling from the towers first! You never know, we could POTENTIALLY sprout wings'' She said between her giggles, the nurse shaking her head from the others side of the room. ''Who knows, maybe we will see centaurs in the forest as well? Join their forces and fight the good battle..or whatever centaurs do!''
She was getting pretty excited about the fantasy honestly, meeting a centaur would be the most ideal dream ever. Instead she opted for falling back a bit in her hospital bed with a dreamy sigh.
''Primrose Edwards and Airila Winter, the knights of the centaurs- sounds pretty epic, right?'' She threw her hands up in the air as she spoke, picturing herself the scene before her with a giggle.
The change of tone made her sit up a little, still huddled as much as possible within the soft covers as she hummed.
''But you need to choose since I can't. They're all so cute.'' Primrose nodded, as if the girl could see her but still- a nod was good enough.
''They are indeed adorable all of them, like me'' She joked, placing her hands on her cheeks as she fluttered her eyelashes and giggled. She was returning to herself again, forgetting the anxiety that had been within her moments earlier. ''But I prefer Prim, my dad calls me Primmy and my mum, Dove so- Prim is the best.''
''Miss Edwards, Lay back down!'' The Nurse scolded as Primrose had sat up, starting to crawl to the end of her bed to see her friend better. The Hufflepuff girl rolling her eyes and returning to the pillow and under the covers again.
''So- does that mean I get to give you a super cute nickname too?''

Airlia's mind had gone straight to centaurs when Primrose mentioned them as the knights of centaurs. She was in a dream world with a thoughtful look on her face. Would be rather impressive wouldn't it? Wearing a full body silver armor, riding a centaur with a sword in hand, arriving to battle.
Oh wait, can you even ride a centaur? Would that be proper? Probably not. They might be gravely offended if they even knew Airlia was thinking of such things. After all centaurs have right too. No matter how fragile those might be. They shouldn't be treated like animals even if they were partly horses. They were people too.
With a firm nod, Airlia abandoned her centaur riding dreams and just focused on the thought of actually meeting one. It would be amazing to learn about astronomy from a centaur. It's where they get all their knowledge. Or so she was told by old fairy tales.
'Centaurs read the stars like we read books.' She'd been told.
She asked about nicknames and nodded when the girl chose Prim. It was her favorite too. All sweet and kind. Or at least the name sounded like the name you might give to someone caring.
Airlia smiled as the nurse told Prim to lay back down. She agreed because of what a state her new friend had been in just half an hour earlier.
"You can give me a nickname if you wish to do so." Airlia smiled. "Back at home, I was called The Little Lady of Taika. It was mostly just used by adults but the kids caught a hang of it too. When they would have a snowball fight my mother was notorious about telling their parents if they hit me by accident. They'd always be punished by their parents about it. I wasn't allowed to participate in snow fights so when I'd be near to where they were playing they would always call out; the Little Lady is coming, and they'd all seize fire until I'd pass."
Airlia had a wistful smile on her face: "I always wanted to join." She mumbled and thought about all the town kids having fun without her. "While the nickname does remind me of home, it also reminds me of all the things I wasn't allowed to do. Everything is different here so I want a new refreshed nickname. Do you think you could come up with something?"

Primrose played with the lid of the potion bottle, listening to the other girl talk as she nodded every now and then. But suddenly stopping and bolting up into sitting position, almost falling from her bed.
''You've never had a snowball fight?!'' She exclaimed, loud enough for the Nurse to loudly scold her with only her name and shush her. ''Sorry'' She nervously laughed in a lower tone, curiously looking Airlia.
''Seriously? Were your mum pissed on you or somethin'? That's like the best part of winter!'' She whined, clearly distraught with simply the idea of no snowball fights. ''That's it, we are having a snowball fight this christmas. If I so have to enchant the entire school to do so'' She crossed her arms like a spoiled brat, which honestly not too far off what she truly was deep down inside.
''No snowball fights, humph. Even Louis mum participated in snowball fights and she is about as sickly as a mouse'' She muttered, shaking her head. No this simply wouldn't stand in her mind.
''A nickname for the 'little lady'?'' Prim giggled, a thoughtful expression on her face. ''Lia? Li? Air, like the element?'' She grinned at the idea.
''Oh! Ari as well? Not exactly like yer name I imagine but still cute!'' She looked expectantly at her new friend. If she got to pick her so did the 'little lady', of course!
''Seriously though, we are having like a snowball fight-and making an igloo, and uh..ice skating!'' She was already getting excited for winter. Maybe if Airlia's mom won't let her have snowball fights at THEIR home, maybe just maybe- she should sneak Airlia home to her? Just for a week or somethin'..unless Prim has to stay at the school due to her dads work this year..That'd suck.
Christmas with the Edwards family was a mixed bag, many years had been wonderful with a huge tree and creatures running around; eggnog and her family visiting. Then her uncle simply vanished in thin air- since then her father had worked two Christmas eves in a row and tried to stay away from home a lot. It frustrated her to no end, but she knew it was because he was ashamed of looking Louis in the eyes. But it was nothing new of Prim bringing friends home, so bringing a new super cool one home should be just fine..right? She brought herself back to reality. No need planning THAT far ahead just yet.
