- Private with Annabelle Wolfe, Jeronimo Khan, Verla Harness, and Muriel Carroll -
Emma rushed into the Hospital Wing fanatic, though the sun lowered itself further and further. So what if visiting hours were drawing to an end? She wasn't going to leave the Hospital Wing without seeing Annabelle one-hundred percent healthy. She had seen the dreadful crash, yet she had tried to do her best to control the broom, yet obviously, failed. There were only so many spells a second year could learn and use.

Thoughts filled her head as she ran up the Grand Staircase, ignoring the yells of annoyance and rage. She did care this time, she drowned them out her thoughts, mostly negative, but some were positive. Despite the heart-wrenching event that had been displayed at the training Quidditch pitch, they four had had an eminent time at the Quidditch Pitch, even if they weren't flying.

It was mostly her fault that the broom had crashed. If she had left it to its natural course, she could have made the impact sustainable. She had seen her leg, it wasn't exactly picture-perfect as one should have been. It was worse than a simple fracture, or even a complete split bone in general. It was more like every bone had been soiled in her body. She couldn't even imagine the pain she could be going through, had the nurse helped her already? Had she already missed her opportunity to comfort her when she had probably most needed it?

Bursting through the heavy wooden doors, she stopped in her tracks. She had never actually been to the Hospital Wing before, nor did she planned on it unless if it were to visit. She did fancy getting undivided attention and sweets, but she'd never commit self-harm.

Scanning the beds for her brown-haired friend, Emma stepped forward a bit. Her head bobbed from left to right until she finally had found the bed she was searching for. She picked up her speed into a jog and hit the bed as her tennis shoes screeched to a stop.

Her instinctive first question was: "Are you okay? How's your leg, I'm so sorry..." Emma looked down at her leg and pushed out the thoughts that had immediately come to her head.

Verla was so worried after experiencing a girl falling from her broom, she was scared for her. She rushed into the hospital wing and looked for the girl and when she found her she said "oh my goodness! I saw that nasty fall, are you alright?" She looked at the girl next to her and gave her a polite smile "you must be her friend, well, I'll stay with you guys until she's better, I hate seeing accidents like this. For a moment when you looked at me, I thought you got nervous and fell for that reason, I was so worried it was my fault." Verla gave a nervous giggle and looked at the two girls "sorry, I'm Verla, Verla Harness from Hufflepuff. I'm just relieved you didn't die, though you didn't fall very high, unless you did, I couldn't tell. Sorry, I babble when scared or nervous, I think I'd be dead if I were fighting some one because I'd be babbling the whole time and they'd just get sick of me. Sorry just trying to give some humor. Um, maybe I should go." She was babbling, and she hated herself for it. She really thought it best to leave.

OOC: Did I do this right? I didn't read the whole thing and I was excited to post, let me know if I need to make any changes, lol.

"Wha...uh..." Annabelle groaned, her thoughts clouded by a terrible pain. What happened? Moments before she had been soaring through the air... her first real flying practice. Words could not describe the Muggle-born's . It was scary- terrifying really- and yet no experience she had ever been through could quite match that rush of adrenaline that had surged through her when taking off. It was like a roller coaster, and airplane ride, and a breathtaking sunset all rolled up into one. She had glided past clouds with more grace than the clumsy girl had ever known on the ground. Her hair had blown freely behind her, cool breeze brushing against her face. She had shouted with joy and then... then...

Everything was blurry. Her leg throbbed, pulling her painfully away from the joyful flashback. It felt as though a thousand needles were jabbing at her muscles from the inside. In reality, shard of leg-bone had lodged themselves in what was now more soup than muscle. Her limb had burst into a million pieces. The pain was so jarring and horrific that she could not even bring herself to open her eyes. In any Muggle hospital, the only solution to her plight would have been amputation. Thankfully Hogwarts was no Muggle hospital. Wizards may have been show-off at times, but they really could pull off miracles.

Show off... The word sent her back into flashback mode. She saw a Hufflepuff boy with jet-black hair and a cocky grin flying beside her. Annabelle did not personally know him, but she recognized the fifth-year from the rumors about him. People said he was the son of a famous Quidditch player or something like that and that he never left the training pitch. The boy had flown up next to her, flashing his cocky smile and spinning expertly on his broom.

"Hey newbie!" he'd called her attention, performing another trick.

Annabelle had waved back, removing one hand from her broom for the first time. Thge broom spun at this action, but she had clumsily managed to steady it. Mistaking this for some sort of challenge, the boy soared far ahead of her. She followed. He twisted expertly, she spun not-quite-so expertly. Still, she managed to keep up, determined to prove to this show off that she could be every bit as good as he was. Yet when he performed a triple backflip with no hands, she should have known she was done for.

It was impossible. There was no way that a first-year with zero flying experience would be able to pull such a stunt But Annabelle Wolfe was not one to give up. She had thrown her hand in the air, leaned upward on her broom... and plummeted straight for the ground. The impact had shattered her leg and left here here whimpering in pain. The boy had likely flow off, wishing to avoid trouble. Honestly, she was luck the fall hadn't killed her. That fact of course made it no less painful.

Anna could hear voices surrounding her, but she couldn't quite hear what they were saying. Everything was still fuzzy. Perhaps these were angels ready to take her to heaven. Or more realistically, her friends ready to take her to the Hospital Wing. Anna tried her best to flash a smile. She wanted to tell them that she was okay.. or hopefully at least she was going to be... but no sound came out.

Muriel had been at the Quidditch Pitch, watching from the ground as a second year flew on her broomstick. She remembered her brain buzzing on what it must've felt like to be so high up; the wind blowing at you, and a never-ending sky to waiting to be explored; everything about flying looked so inspirational. Her awe for the girl grew even more as she'd watched her do an impressive spin. After all, Muriel was only a first year; a rather new first year that hadn't even held a broomstick before, let alone have anything to compare it to, so of course anything she saw seemed perfect to her.

But of all of that changed when she suddenly saw the girl literally nose-dive back down to the ground.

At first, Muriel just sat there in shock, unable to believe what she just saw. Everything seemed to be going fine, what happened!? she'd thought as she slowly snapped out of it. Now, as she made her way to the hospital wing, the shock she'd felt earlier turned to only deep concern for the girl. Once inside, she froze at the doorway, scanning the room to spot two girls already at a bed, presumably the crashed flyer's. She hesitated for a split second before making her way over to the bed as well.

"Is... is she going to be okay?" She asked so quietly as if she were only talking to herself. Muriel was honestly scared to know the answer, as she'd seen many accidents that've left patients permanently scarred for life. She continued to stand there silently, her mind whirling with more questions, but knowing that most of them would probably have no answers.

"You know," Jeronimo thought to himself as he watched the very staircase he was climbing swivel away from the Ravenclaw dorm very suddenly, "I think I should probably check on Annabelle anyway."

Jeronimo had never been to the Hospital Wing, but he knew the way. Normally, he didn't care enough about injured people that he would go visit them. But he was just starting to get close to Annabelle, especially during that Flying class. Plus, he wanted a break from navigating the moving stairs.

From the hallway, he noticed a small vase in the hallway with a few flowers. Mum had always said to bring flowers when visiting a sick person. Looking to check that there weren't janitors around, Jeronimo snatched the vase and scurried off.

The boy knocked politely on the door. It was evening, so it would be best not to just barge in.

The door snapped open, revealing an angry-looking nurse.

"Visiting hours are over."

"I understand," Jeronimo said, "but my friend, she got injured and-"

"Then you should've seen her before visiting hours were over."

Jeronimo scowled. "Miss, please just let me in. I just want to make sure- HOLY WHAT."

At that moment, Jeronimo saw Annabelle in her bed, surrounded by other girls. The boy pushed past the nurse, who yelped after him in great annoyance. He rushed over to Annabelle's side, gripping the vase of flowers.

"Annabelle, your leg! You turned it into a frigging Flobberworm!"

Jeronimo stopped himself before continuing, realizing how insensitive he was being. He gingerly placed the vase of flowers on Annabelle's bedside table.

The boy nodded, pursing his lips awkwardly.

"Does... does it hurt a lot? How did it happen, anyhow?"

Annabelle had had Emma's full attention. She didn't know if it had made it worse or better by groaning. Was she in so much pain she couldn't speak or was it the aftermath of a long sleep. She reached out to grab her injured leg and shook it in order to wake her up a bit. She shook it for a few seconds before letting it go, realizing what she had done. "Sorry, Anna!"

The brunette had been joined by two other girls, both of which had never seen Annabelle in their school year. She had found them extremely sympathetical and compassionate. It wasn't every day that someone fell from their broom, though if she would have found herself in the same place as one of them, she would have surely done the same.
"Is... Is she going to be okay?"
She nodded slightly, though extremely unsure of her own thoughts. She had no clue if Annabelle would have the pleasure to see her common room or even another broom in her life. Would this mean no more flying with her?

Emma had heard a yell erupt from the door. She spun around to find another one of her fellow Ravenclaws, one whom she had met before, Jeronimo Khan. It had not occurred to her that the sun had almost been hidden by the horizon. Had time gone by so fast?

The Ravenclaw recalled the events that had just previously happened once more. She had still had her hair tied back into a low ponytail to prevent the wind from blowing it in her face. The cocky Hufflepuff boy, his idiotic looking raven black hair. She had been still annoyed that he hadn't turned up to the Hospital Wing, or even to apologize for provoking her.
"Annabelle, your leg! You turned it into a frigging Flobberworm!"
She had laughed a bit, although she hadn't tried to. She couldn't blame the fact that he hadn't been there when it happened, and she didn't. Emma watched as he placed the vase full of flowers next to her. "Someone from Hufflepuff did something, I don't know what. He.. uhm.. He did some type of trick on his broom... and well," she gestured to Annabelle's leg.

Footsteps approached them unexpectedly, a light woman appeared, though Emma found her almost harmless. "You lot should leave. Once again, visiting hours are over."

The brunette stood up from her kneeling position to face the nurse. She seemed a lot scarier despite her diminutive height. "Ma'am, with all your due respect, I- We're not leaving, and there's nothing you can do to change that." She turned back to the bed and looked down at her partially lifeless body, "Anna please wake up.."

Oh boy! The girl, Annabelle, had passed out. "So what exactly happened? I couldn't see very well from where I was." Verla asked politely. The nurse had asked the to leave, but until she knew what happened and knew that the girl would be alright, she wasn't leaving. Yes she could do better things with her time, but this could also be a time to create a small little clique with the girls, they all seemed very worried for Annabelle, as much as she was.

Verla took the time of the girl sleeping as the time to introduce herself "well, while we wait for her to wake up, we might as well converse with each other, I'm Verla, just Verla." Verla said, not wanting to get into deep new details about her parents accident, she decided since they disowned her, and her boyfriend suggested saying a different background story, she didn't want to have to get emotional about it. Even if they asked why she was "just Verla," she would tell them that her parents had died in an accident, thanks to her boyfriend.

Verla looked at the girls as they all introduced themselves and they began to talk with each other.

The clouds began to fade away. Annabelle opened her eyes slightly, her vision a bit less blurred now. Showy black tendrils seemed to spread across her field of view. This was likely her brain's way of luring her back to sleep... a tempting proposition to say the least. Sleep meant no pain. Yet the Gryffindor struggled to remain conscious. The blurry shapes that stood above her bed were obviously here for her. She could not pass out now... not while they were here. She needed to let them know that she was alright.

More light poured in as she opened her eyes further. Four walls grew more distinct along the faces of her concerned friends. So too did the pain in her right side. This was definitely the Hospital Wing. The whole place smelled like a doctor's office, which came as quite a surprise to Annabelle. she had not been expecting this. Of course it only made sense for wizards and Muggles alike to sterilize their hospital rooms, but... she wasn't quite sure what she had thought this room would be like. The wizard and Muggle worlds were always so different that this small point of commonality was rather striking.

Through half-closed eyes she examined her visitors. One of them was a girl she knew well- a Ravenclaw by the name of Emma. The two of them had met rather early in the school year and had hit it off right away. In fact, she was one of the most active members of the drama club founded by Annabelle herself. It was good to see a familiar face... at least until that familiar girl started shaking her by what was left of her injured leg.The action sent awful pains shooting through the small girl's body. She flinched and tried to scream, but still no coherent sounds would leave her mouth.

This forced silence was due in large part to a burning sensation in Anna's throat. Whatever potion they had given her tasted and felt absolutely vile. Anna swallowed to clear her throat, but to no avail. She looked back up at the faces of the others. Aside from Emma, she knew one other person in the little group. It was a boy from her flying class whom she'd recently grown rather close to. Though the two of them had vastly different personalities, Jeronimo and Annabelle had quickly become friends. He had even encouraged her to get over her fear of flying. Look how that turned out... She certainly wouldn't be taking to the skies again anytime soon.

As for the others, they were total strangers.Yet the two unknown girls looked every bit as concerned as her friends. They must have been kind and wonderful souls to feel such deep compassion for their fellow student. Anna shut her eyes again, unable to bear the light. She heard the nurse demand that the others leave, and she heard Emma and the girl who called herself "Just Verla" refuse. Please... she thought, imagining being left in the doctor's-office-smelling room to bear the pain of bone regrowth. Please don't leave me here alone...

Muriel continued to stay by the girl’s side even though she was a total stranger. She could tell the girl was in a lot of pain and hoped that her and the other’s presences could help alleviate a fraction of it somehow. As she glanced up at the others around her for the first time, the only person she vaguely recognized was Emma: a second year Ravenclaw that had greeted her in the dormitory and seemed to be one of the bunch closest to the flyer. When she started to shaking the injured girl’s leg, Muriel couldn’t find her voice to tell her to stop, but luckily she did so on her own after realizing her mistake. Her nod was also a bit relieving, as it meant that the injury was not serious enough to transfer her to St. Mungo’s at least, though it still must be pretty bad.

When the nurse approached the bunch and asked them to leave, Muriel gave him/her a conflicted face. She knew that the nurse was only trying to give the girl some time to rest peacefully, but at the same time felt that it wouldn’t be right to just leave her in as much pain as she was all alone. That was when Emma had spoken up for all of them and refused to leave, which she silently agreed with and stayed where she was. Then the other girl spoke and introduced herself as Verla. Perhaps it would be best to get to know these people. After all, it seemed that they all were going to stay in the room together for awhile.

“Ok, umm... I’m Muriel, hi...” She said, giving Verla a smile, or at least attempting to considering the situation they were all in. She also gave a Emma a small wave, though couldn’t really think of anything to say.

"Nice to meet you, Muriel, Verla. You a... you a friend of Anna's?"

Jeronimo snapped to attention as he noticed Annabelle stir a little. He turned to the nurse.

"If anything, the best thing you can do for the patient would be to get her something to drink. She must be thirsty. Don't you have that pumpkin juice nonsense? Or regular juice?"

Jeronimo paused, then sighed.

"One day, I will succeed in my quest of finding a wizarding facility with normal juice."

The boy turned to Annabelle and grinned nervously as he remembered their conversation.

"Hhhheeyyyy," Jeronimo said with the lowest voice such a tone could allow, "Sooooo, I guess you did get a little hurt."

***

The sun was bearing down on them. Jeronimo wasn't a big fan of flying himself, but he couldn't wait until he felt the wind. He was interested not in the sense of freedom, just the cool breeze.

"No, Annabelle, you're not gonna get hurt."

The girl still looked nervous. Jeronimo sighed.

"Come ooonnnnnn," Jeronimo whined, "Everyone's up already. Let's just get going, and you'll feel better."

The boy swung a leg over the broom, mounting it and gripping the broom's handle tightly. Despite his bravado, Jeronimo himself was getting very nervous. But once he lifted off, he was already feeling better. Surely, Annabelle would get it once she was up.

***

Jeronimo squirmed a little. He quickly realized that he maaaaay have had a hand in the accident by assuring Annabelle... too much.

"Sorry," he said, losing his grin, "I shouldn't have pushed you into flying. Perhaps you needed some more time to get ready to fly, and I'm sorry that I got you hurt."

Jeronimo studied Anna's face.

"Is..." Jeronimo looked up at the others. "Is she even awake?"
