Hospital Wing Rules

Octavius notice 3/15/2025: Update incoming.
Welcome to the Hogwarts Hospital Wing, a place of healing. The area has been mostly unchanged for years, not needing much innovation when all one really needed was a bed to lie on and an accomplished healer on staff to work their magic. You have the moderate fortune to be in the care of Nurse Sabo, a Hogwarts alumnus who cares a lot for the students.

The head nurse does not attend to every case, having clerical and delegatory duties alongside continuing research and study in her field. Still, they are available to answer questions at their desk, and will always be in attendance for medical emergencies. Most small cases will be handled by the staff of house elves, as well as a few older students from the Healer Internship. These students are interested in the healing arts and looking for some hands-on experience.
Rules
  • None of the potions, balms, or pills are ever allowed to be taken without clear permission, no matter how sure you are that you recognize it. Even if you are not caught, Nurse Sabo keeps immaculate inventory records and will notice supplies going missing.
  • Visitors to the infirmed are allowed during visiting hours, so long as they are not actively being treated. When asked Dusana might give your character permission to visit outside the normal hours, make sure to owl me if you want this.
  • Don't run around or raise your voice, many of the infirmed are there for prescribed bedrest and need peace and quiet. You'll be asked to or made to leave.
  • Be respectful to the patients and all the working staff in the hospital wing.
  • No spellcasting without permission or instruction.
OOC
  • There are other things you need to consider as a writer, namely that you must be aware of and follow the site rules. Any in-character school rules are allowed to be broken, but I will have a chance to notice it and give you detention.
  • The site is rated so that players of all ages can feel safe to engage. As far as brutal injuries, drug use, and severe mental illness/trauma goes, I will be reading your threads to make sure they fit the description given in the link. If you're ever unsure whether your illness or injury is going too far, feel free to owl or message me on Discord any time and we can talk about it.
  • Do not godmod the nurse unless it is something minor, like treating someone in the room or sitting at her desk. If you want to describe something further than that, just ask and I will probably say yes!
FAQ
This section will fill up with time, you can ask me questions by owl or my Discord at .little.bee.
  • Is the nurse accepting student interns/assistants?
There is a Healer Intership program, which you can find more information about here! Feel free to owl me if you have any questions about it.
  • Will the nurse heal me in my thread?
If you want a thread with Dusana herself, please owl or message me first to sort out the details. Do not tag me and expect me to join just because I am the nurse. The hospital wing is canonically full of nurse assistants and student interns, so you are always free to say a faceless NPC comes over and helps you. I will be patrolling the hospital wing to make sure NPCs are used correctly, but you may also feel free to owl me with questions about how to use them or what spells or potions they would be using on your case.
  • How long does [insert injury] take to heal?
If you want a useful guide to medical magic, there is this lore page here you can read. In general though, medical magic is extremely quick. Cuts and bruises should take no more than a moment, leaving nothing but a phantom feeling. Broken bones, deep burns, and concussions can be relieved but will take time to heal completely.

You can RP being in the hospital wing after Quidditch, dueling, and broom racing, but know that your treatment will be quick, easy, and routine. You will likely have lasting aches or feel exhausted, but any injuries should be healed within minutes of your arrival. You will not need to spend the night in the hospital unless there is an extreme case, feel free to message me if you are unsure about how to depict healing in your thread.
