Takes place the day after The Aftermath
Private Roleplay between Anastasia Beckett and @Dale Kurt
Date: 29 April 2020
Time: Noon/lunchtime
Ana was never setting herself on fire again. Her pink skin, which she suspected had been magically regrown, (at least she hoped it had, since otherwise it implied she had been peeled like a grape), was very tender and the stupid ugly hospital gown was itchy. It also didn't help that her head was still ringing or that her side was still bothering her. She had confirmed that she had in fact broken a few ribs when she had hit the ground. She had also apparently been concussed when someone(cough *ivy* cough) had tried to help and dropped her. Thanks to that and the flipendo mess she had been the victim of, her head was pounding, and she had been in and out of conscious since she had come to the prior evening.

Still, she felt relatively awake and pushed herself up on her pillows to choke down some nasty hospital food for lunch. Her decision may or may not have also been influenced by the fact that lunch time meant possible visitors and she refused to be pathetic and laying down for anyone to see. When she had woken, she had gotten a steady stream of visitors. Some she knew, some she didn't. A fair amount were just onlookers coming to see the girl who had been on fire. There were apparently all sorts of rumors flying around, ranging from Ana being a phoenix to her status being a distraction from the missing headmaster. She'd also heard all sorts of nicknames. Some she liked were "The Flaming Wonder", "Fire Princess", and "The Girl on Fire". She'd nearly punched the boy who had muttered something about "human torch".

So far, she hadn't heard anything from Dale. Not that she necessarily had expected to, but seeing as what felt like the entire school had visited, she would have rather liked to have seen another friendly face.

As she wiggled to adjust herself into a more comfortable position, another shoot of pain went through her side and she winced. Still in a fair amount of pain, she sipped the glass of water that seemed to be camping at her bedside. She sighed and twirled her braid around her finger for a moment. She had nagged the hospital staff enough to get a hair ribbon, and she'd braided it when she hadn't been able to sleep around four that morning. It was better than bedhead, for sure, and it also prevented the silky hair she had woken up with the previous evening. Normally, she liked her hair to be silky, but the idea of someone else brushing it or magicking the tangles away freaked her out.

Dale wished that he could forget about the ball, he didn't remember much, if anything about the ball, mostly because he refused to, pushing the embarrassing thought of him hiding underneath a table while mosps attacked the other students, but other then that, Dale couldn't remember anything else about the ball, he left well after everything went down. He felt like a coward for doing what he did. He had been doing his best to try to avoid anyone that might recognize him, scared of what they might think of him. But even he heard the rumors floating around about the ball, but the ones that caught his attention the most were the ones about his friend, Anastasia Beckett, from what he could gather she apparently set herself on fire.. or at least that's what Dale picked up. "I should probably go visit her..." Dale thought to himself while staring at the book he was "reading" "As if she wasn't to see you, all you did was hide while she got attacked." Dale took a deep sigh, quickly closed the book, and slipped it into his bag, and set off to the hospital wing, the least he could apologize to her.

The scene in the hospital wing reminded him of the first time he was here.. it was ironic really, he was here for the same reason, Dale sighed to himself and walked further into the room, looking for his friend. After a minute or so he finally spotted her, even in her current state his heart jumped for a second, he smiled and walked over to her, she didn't look too good, but that was to be expected, he didn't know exactly what happened, but he assumed burning yourself would take a while to heal. Dale stood there awkwardly for about 30 seconds, not sure what to say, "Hey sorry I hid in fear while you were on fire." or maybe, "What happened at the ball? The view underneath the table wasn't very clear." Dale pushed those thoughts out of his head and finally was able to muster up a few words, "H-How are you feeling?" he asked awkwardly.

Ana still felt rather like she had been run over by a herd of hippogriffs had run her over, but she was never one to let herself sit and rest. As she played with her braid, she absently scanned the room. Technically, she wasn't physically healed enough to leave yet, but she was bored enough that she was convinced she was ready. Sure, her brain was still fuzzy and her ribs still hurt, but she wasn't someone to let little things like moderate to severe injuries stop her from doing what she wanted.

When she glanced up, Dale seemed to have appeared. He stood there rather uncomfortably for a moment, maybe trying to figure out what to say. Ana couldn't blame him. Last time they had spoken, she had been screaming at people to shut up and he had been saying something about calming down. She wasn't sure exactly what he'd been saying, since she had ignored it because she had been busy setting things on fire. She wondered what had happened to him while she had failed miserably and passed out. Had he been hurt by a mosp? Or involved in any of the fights? She hadn't seen him in the chaos, but that wasn't saying much since she had been slightly preoccupied. In any event, he had clearly made marginally better choices than her, seeing as she was the one in a hospital bed. "Better than I look, I imagine," Ana rasped, her throat still somewhat sore from the smoke and screaming. That was a complete lie, she felt terrible, but it wouldn't do either of them much good for her to chat about how she was actually feeling.

"How are you? I take it you fared slightly better than I did when things went sideways?" Ana said, not particularly interested in discussing her own trainwreck. Just about everyone had heard some version of the story by now, and Dale had been there, so she assumed he had at least seen her run directly into danger. In her defense, her original plan had been slightly less dangerous than what had ended up happening. She had meant to set the flowers on fire, lure the mosps to her, and then blatch them or possibly stab them. Foolproof...

Dale felt even more guilty now that he had heard her speak, her raspy voice made it sound like she was in pain just talking to him. "Im fine.. I umm... hid under a table after my spell backfired on me.." Dale said with a voice full of guilt. "Sorry I was no help to you.." Dale said as he rubbed the back of his neck, he found himself doing that often when we was nervous, His neck would probably be really red by the time he leaves here. He knew an apology wouldn't really do much to help her, but it really was the best he could do, and didn't really expect her to forgive him. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened after I uhh... went under the table. I couldn't really see much other than people's shoes, but I heard lots of screaming." Dale said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood just a little bit. He never liked serious situations, they made him feel uncomfortable, like a fish out of water. And on the rare few times when he found himself in one, he always wanted to lighten up the mood to try to make things less serious.

Ana laughed slightly when Dale said that he had hidden under the table. It was the cowardly thing to do, to be sure, but given how Ana and some of her other friends had ended up, it appeared to have been the smartest option. "I mean, I wasn't exactly a help to myself, so it wasn't just you," Ana said, trying to keep her tone light. If she dwelled on how bad things had really been, how close she had gotten to dying, she was pretty sure she would pass out or throw up, which wasn't something she particularly wanted to do.

"Long story short, I caught a few spells and passed out," Ana said, chewing her bottom lip uncomfortably. That was definitely understating things, but she didn't think that giving Dale any more details would help either of them. Anyway, if he heard any of the rumors that Ana was sure were swirling around about her, he would get a fair amount of information. Some of the things that her friends had told her that people were saying were absolutely insane. In any event, she rather felt that she might take a break from using the flame making spell that she was generally so fond of.

"So, did I miss anything interesting in the past few days?" she asked, rather conspicuously trying to change the topic. In any event, Ana was generally someone who liked to be kept up to date on any major gossip or happenings, and having been out for a few days after the ball meant she was probably rather behind on that.
