Lycanthropy
This is the game werewolf. Interested students have been separated into a total of three teams. This thread represents one such team.
Game 3: [Lycanthropy]
1.) Oliver Hart
2.) Alaska Remillae
3.) Mary Brown
4.) Phaedra Stavrou
5.) Celynne Flores
6.) Reid Kovacs
7.) Annabelle Wolfe
8.) Frost Cira
9.) Ava Silver
10.) Paracelsus Myth
11.) Bloom Silverton
This is a game of manipulation, psychology and luck. In this game there are several roles that can be played: the Werewolf, the Minion, the Potion-master, the Seer and the Villagers. Each role comes with special responsibilities and potential win scenarios.
The Werewolf: The werewolf will appear to be a regular villager by day, but once night falls they become a ravenous beast that will devour or turn a villager each night. Werewolves have three options that they can perform on the NIGHT TURN, those being KILL, TURN and SPARE. The werewolves (if there is more than one) must agree on what they will do, otherwise the moderator in all of his cruelty will make the choice for you.
The Minion: The minion is human, so would be viewed as a human by a Seer but be a part of the werewolf team. The minion's job is to try to keep their master alive. A Seer would not be able to know where the Minion's allegiance lies. The minion does not get an extra action but they do get a vote and interact with the other villagers. Their victory condition is having the werewolves win, so they will be actively trying to divert votes to innocent villagers. During the DAY ROUND they get to vote with the rest of the villagers and send a potential were to the gallows.
The Potions Master: This role is a wizarding role in a town full of muggles. Able to either save the life of a dying person or prevent lycanthropy from setting in. Once the curse has taken hold, as we well know there is no stopping it but if the Potions Master gets to the right person in time, they will be able to either save their life with a restorative elixir or by filling their wound with liquid silver. This choice takes a lot of luck and a keen perception to determine who the next target might be. They can only "save" one person and must declare this during the NIGHT ROUND before the victim is announced. Pick carefully between elixir and liquid silver. You have no way of knowing if your target was saved by your efforts or not. During the DAY ROUND they get to vote with the rest of the villagers and send a potential were to the gallows.
Seer: Gifted with the power of future sight, a Seer can concentrate on a single villager and find out if they are human or were. They will know nothing else. Such visions come to them in dreams, so they learn this during the NIGHT ROUND. During the DAY ROUND they get to vote with the rest of the villagers and send a potential were to the gallows.
Villagers: Muggles. The most unfortunate member of this setting. Your job is to flush out the werewolf. Unfortunately you will probably not know who is gifted with future-sight (Seer) or who might be a wizard (potions master) because that would make them a target for the werewolves but some might share. Take care, they might be lying. During the DAY ROUND they get to vote with the rest of the villagers and send a potential were to the gallows.
The win condition is as follows:
- Destroy all the werewolves and the villager team wins.
- Destroy enough villagers that there is an even number of villagers and werewolves (or members on the werewolf team) and the werewolf team wins.
Seers, Villagers and Potions Masters are on the Villager Team.
Werewolves and Minions are on the Werewolf Team.

- KILL: Does just that, kills a villager unless the potions-master gives the same player a restorative elixer.
- TURN: This turns a villager into a werewolf starting the next night. This new werewolf is now a part of the werewolf team and would be aware of who the werewolves are. The werewolves can only successfully turn ONE villager throughout the course of the game, so be shrewd with your decision.
- SPARE: You decide to take no lives this round. Perhaps you are trying to confuse your opponents. Make the doctor feel somewhat effective.
The Minion: The minion is human, so would be viewed as a human by a Seer but be a part of the werewolf team. The minion's job is to try to keep their master alive. The Basic Rules:
- You will be notified via owl of your role (Were, Seer, Potions Master, Minion, Villager).
- You are not to reveal OC what your actual role is by showing the communication I have sent you. You can lie, but you cannot show demonstrable proof (that's cheating).
- You are not allowed to reveal your role (Were, Seer, Potions Master, Minion, Villager) if you have been KILLED until the game is over. Let everyone enjoy the game.
- This is considered to be a flood topic, meaning you do not have to post a full 200 words in your post. Your post will be considered in character, so please consider this fact when you interact in this thread.
- You can use a variety of means to coerce, trick, etc. each other. You just cannot provide OC proof of your role.
- Villagers post their vote for who to die in this thread. The were(s) will DM or owl me with their victims. The Seer will owl or DM me their desired target. The potions master will owl or DM me their desired target.
- Those with specialty roles can only do one action per night.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

Lycanthropy
"Dang..." Annabelle muttered to the person next to her, staring at the card she had been given. "I never get to be anything fun in these games." She then hid the card under her chair so that nobody else could see it. Despite her words, her body language showed that she was actually quite happy. Of course she really was excited to get started. The statement sounded almost insincere as her eagerness tainted the glum words. The little girl had loved playing Mafia growing up. She'd played at school, at theatre camps... even with her own family. It was always so much fun! Of course, she was not particularly good at it...
Aside from her annoying hyperactivity and somewhat pushy demeanor, the inability to lie was one of Annabelle's greatest weaknesses. In truth, it was probably for the best that she immediately present herself as a Villager. Had she been something else, she would have had quite the time trying to hide it. Then again, the other roles were a lot more interesting...
Anna flashed an innocent smile as she scanned the rest of the circle. Her eyes darted from face to face, trying to read their expressions. Unfortunately she wasn't so great with social cues either. If they were giving off any indication of their roles, she could not tell. I wonder who they are... Somebody here was a threat, and it would be her job to protect her fellow townsfolk. And to stay alive.

"Gosh" Mary huffed in annoyance. Mary stared at the card she had received for a few seconds longer and slid it into her pocket. Mary stared at the rest of the players, trying to read their expressions and see if she could assume anything from the looks they gave their cards. She decided to remain quite and listen in on what the others had to say.

OC: Gosh you guys are fast. Drop one person off at work and type this real quick and you are already posting! Love it.
IC:
It starts... an adventure. Well, maybe not an adventure in the conventional sense. The children were fragile and destructive, doing more damage to each other than Solomon could possibly predict. He would have to modify his teaching methods to make sure that they did not kill each other.
That was where this game came from: WEREWOLF. A children's game. A safe game, probably. There was really no knowing with these kids. It was likely someone would still end up with an eye patch or a peg leg and somehow it would be associated with him. Poor Solomon.
The children would gather, split into three teams. He wanted to make sure it was fair, so there was a pattern to his assignment. The first student to arrive was sent to TEAM 1, the second to TEAM 2 and so on, rotating through the trio of teams until there was no more. The prompt, the energetic, the lax and the last moment arrivals all evenly mixed or so he hoped. He did not want to be accused of bias in the matter.
He knew off the bat who was going to get each roll, it was destiny. He would whisper into each student's ear their role. There was no legible proof, only a whispered word and an old man's memory to chronicle what he said.
Villager...
Seer...
Were...
Potions Master...
Even a real potions master had arrived to play. It would be ironic if he was indeed the Potions Master. Same with a student with the surname Wolfe. Would Solomon be so obvious in his choices -- no. But maybe... No. But-- Still No.
Solomon would then reiterate the game. This was a game of discussion, manipulation, courage and persuasion. Something a Slytherin should excel at, but there was no reason that the others could not find a level of proficiency as well.
"We start at daybreak in the small town of Hogwarts. The village was small, full of mostly Muggles, less a few hidden wizard talents. Set in a shady valley near an inland sea, this once peaceful village has been plagued by rumors of werewolves."
Solomon gave the students a sly grin. This was a LARP (live-action roleplay). "What roles do you have in this fine village?" Solomon would ask, gesturing towards a random student to get them started. A baker, a teacher, a plumber, likely something mundane but children had active imaginations so there were likely going to be a few bizarre ones as well.
"Oh my--" Solomon's voice trailed off as some were more detailed than others in their account. Some more common than others. Perhaps even a weird one here and there. With a slight laugh he would continue, for most this was likely their first LARP experience. "Sadly the village as of late has become plagued with rumors and disappearances. Animal attacks some say... but the villagers here know better, it seems to only happen on the full-moon. We have a were in our midst. The full moon will rise tonight, quickly everyone... think about who it might be!"
This is an introduction post as well as a vote post. Everyone is free to vote, even the weres. If there is more than one were in your group, you will know their identity because it has been shared in your owl. For any minions that may or may not exist, you will receive (as I forgot to send it) information regarding who the were is that you assist.
Yes, that means that SOMEONE is not going to last for very long. No worries, play dead in the grass and haunt them through the session (I will keep you entertained I assure you).

Lycanthropy
Annabelle glanced over at the only other person who had spoken before the professor introduced the game. She looked about the same age as Anna, perhaps a bit younger. Was she a first-year?It was possible that they simply hadn't had any classes together before. To be honest, Anna was a bit jealous. While it was obvious that she was young, the girl's distinctive features and perfectly-applied makeup made her look stunning. Annabelle was never allowed to wear makeup, and hadn't gotten any experience with it even after moving to Hogwarts. Her life here had been so zany and full of adventure that she hadn't really given the skill much thought. Perhaps she would ask this girl to teach her.
For now though, she was more concerned with what the girl had said. It was only a single word... "Gosh."What does that mean? Was she expressing the same disappointment in her role as Annabelle had? She certainly looked annoyed. Or maybe she was frustrated that she'd gotten a more interesting role that would be harder to play. It could be neither.. the girl could be bluffing to throw people off. Whatever the case, her exclamation had attracted the attention of the hyperactive second-year. She would have to keep a close eye on this one.
As she pondered her options, an authoritative voice broke through her thoughts. Professor Lear was beginning the game. Annabelle snapped to attention, her eyes suddenly locked onto the professor's. She pictured the shady valley in her mind, and thought of the townsfolk that would inhabit it. Each of them took on the faces of people in the circle. These faces were mostly new to her, but there were a few that she recognized. She had encountered Ava a couple of times throughout the past year, and Oliver was one of the newer members of her drama club. Then there was Reid, whom she'd only spoken to in passing at the Leaky Cauldron. Should she vote for one of them? That hardly seemed fair. Perhaps she could wait until everyone had had a chance to speak.
Anna was so busy mulling over the fundamentals of the game that she was completely taken aback by Professor Lear's question. Who am I? She imagined the townsfolk again, and how terrified they all must be. She wondered if she should be a nervous old lady, perhaps with a stutter? That could be fun... Or perhaps a local doctor who's entirely skeptical about the idea of werewolves in the area? The gears of her actress brain were starting to turn. She'd have to come up with something that would be fun to play...
"I'm...uh..." she hesitated for a moment when it came her turn to speak. Then she blurted out the latest idea she had been toying with. "I'm a monster hunter! I travel the globe looking for rare and unexplained occurrences and creatures. I'm a Muggle, so there are plenty of things in the world that seem strange and fantastical to me." Anna grinned, really beginning to get into this backstory. Roleplaying was a lot of fun, and improvisation was a specialty of hers. "I came to this town a couple of years ago because I heard rumors about there being werewolves here. Even though I never found solid evidence, the fear of the townspeople was enough to convince me that something was really going on here. As time went by I started to lose hope, but I found that I had fallen in love with this small town and its inhabitants. Then I decided to move here permanently. Although I live a mostly normal life now, and have picked up a job as a waitress at a local cafe, I still hold out hope that one day I'll find a real werewolf just like the rumors said!"
The Gryffindor leaned back in her chair, adjusting her posture to look more confident. She was no longer Annabelle Wolfe, Hogwarts student. She was no longer twelve years old. Now she was a seasoned monster hunter with a love for the town and a not-so-secret agenda to prove the existence of the fabled werewolves. At the very least, that is who she would be in the eyes of her fellow townsfolk. Her innocent smile transformed into a cocky one as she tried to emulate her character. She was quite pleased with the narrative she'd spun, and was ready to play the game.

Lycanthropy
"The name's Blake, a local thief and leader of a few gangs. I beat up my mum when I was 4 years old and left home, been leaving on the streets hustling since then," Oliver spoke up from the silence. He had a bit of a crackly voice as he said this all, raising a brow, real cool. He leaned back on his chair and in the fastest motion ate a chocolate frog. This boy has his box opening game down, he could whip out the sugary amphibian and swipe it into his mouth in a quick flash.

Mary was still sitting silently and listening to the others players backstorys when she noticed when a black haired Gryffindor girl look at her discreetly. Mary would have missed the movement if she wasn't being as observant as she was. Mary tried to pull off the best poker face she could until the girl looked away. She didn't think it worked but at least the effort was there. The girl seemed a bit older than her and had stunning features that were surrounded by her long black hair. Maybe after the game she would properly introduce herself.
It came time for Mary to tell her backstory. She couldn't quite decide what to do. Maybe she could pull of saying she was a simple baker or even say she goes into the depths of the ocean looking for treasure.
Unsure what to say Mary settled with "Oh, yer know been traveling the world since i was wee small with me mum and dad. Grew up and kept at it. Finally decided to settle here after hearing of the mysteriousness of the town." She tried to bring out the most scottish accent she could muster to make her seem more "out there". She followed this by putting her hands behind her head and leaning back into her chair. "ontu you pal" and pointed at the next student.

Lycanthropy
A theif, huh? Annabelle stared curiously at her club-mate. She was actually quite impressed with his creativity, though the idea of a four-year-old beating up his mother was appalling. When she'd played this game back home, most of her Muggle friends had simply taken on the roles that they wished to have when they grew up. She'd played with countless "movie stars" and "astronauts," but these characters had very little effect of the game itself. A hustler on the other hand... that would be interesting, to say the least.
She remained in character, scowling at the ruffian who dared to con the citizens of her beloved home. Yet inside she was thrilled. That's brilliant, Oliver! Would he be able to talk his way out of a hanging? Would the town distrust him because of his numerous crimes and outsider status? She wondered as well how he fit into her character's story. Perhaps he had swindled her into selling one of her prized monster trophies to donate to a fake charity... Or maybe she currently knew the young con artisit as a nice guy who was just misunderstood by the rest of the town. Perhaps people had warned her about him, but she didn't believe the rumors. Did she despise the man? Was she under his spell? So many questions flew through her mind and she tried to figure out her own place in the town that both of these characters now inhabited.
Then the girl with the expertly-done makeup spoke again. She too seemed to be getting into character, taking on an accent that she had not spoken with up until now. Apparently the girl... no, woman- they were all adults in this town, had been a traveler her whole life. Annabelle wondered if this would make her a target or a suspect. After all, the town might be distrusting of outsiders. This was especially true since someone had just shown up and there were werewolf killings happening. Then again, had killings happened in the town already?
It did seem strange to Annabelle that they were starting with the daytime round. Were they just supposed to randomly lynch someone? No crimes had even been committed yet... nobody had died, so what were they hanging people for? She had played a few different ways, but had never been asked to vote before any killings happened. A random lynching would get them nowhere good. And how many votes did it take to get someone hanged? She'd played where the more people were left in the game, the more votes a lynching required... or was it simply majority rules? Did it have to be a majority of the group, or just whoever had the most votes against them? Would they be given a chance to defend themselves? How could they if there was not yet a crime to defend against?
Then another thought struck her. Were they required to vote each round? Was it a guilty/innocent/abstain kind of system, or did you just raise your hand if you thought the person was guilty if they'd been nominated. Or did everyone have to nominate somebody? She certainly didn't want to just pick somebody at random. Perhaps... well, if it was against the rules then Professor Lear would surely correct her.
"I'm not voting this round," she declared, flashing her cocky monster-hunter smile. "And I suggest that the rest of you do the same... I mean, think about it. There are far more townspeople than werewolves. If we just randomly lynch someone, then there's a much higher chance that we'd be killing an innocent townsperson. Plus there haven't been any killings yet, so how can anyone defend themselves? It's better for the town if we all abstain." Annabelle fell silent, hoping that she'd effectively conveyed her point. She had wanted to add "And if anyone still wants to randomly kill then they're probably a werewolf, but had kept that part to herself. She wanted to leave room for open discourse after all. Still, whoever objected to a plan that shifted things out of the werewolves' favor was going to be her prime suspect.

Lycanthropy
Parcel sat in the circle, thinking intently on what kind of job he should take. He hadn’t grown up around many muggles, so he had little knowledge of what kind of jobs they had. Could he just take a wizard job and put muggle in front of it?
Scratching a scar on his chin gingerly, Parcel kept thinking while some of the others explained their jobs. Well, Parcel had heard about some occupations, but he hadn’t remembered what their name was, he could probably make up a name though… or he could go with something obvious, like a baker, even wizards knew what a baker was, but it didn’t sound too exciting, being a baker.
Having finally landed on what muggle occupation he wanted to have, Parcel spoke up next. “I’ll be an Electricity Wizard!” With Parcel’s not to great understanding of what an electrician are, electricity wizard was the best name he could come up with. Parcel was beaming as he continued “I don’t use a wand, because I am a Muggle. But with my cords, wires and cables, I maintain the muggle magic called Electricity! I don’t use spells, but I use tools to repair and mend, and I use the cables to control where the magic goes!” Parcel had started speaking quite matter-of-factly as he explained what the job entailed. “I have lived in the town all my life, like my father did before me, and his father before him.”
Nodding a little as he finished, Parcel looked over at the others, waiting for someone else to talk.

Lycanthropy
As Cel watched each of the other players on her team developing their character in turn, she bit her lip. She comprehended the rules well enough, but what could she take as an occupation? Not something boring, like a... cook or something. No, she wished for something that fit her well, something that might make for a good storyline.
"I'm..." she began, the gears in her mind still whirring rapidly, "I'm a bounty hunter! A rogue in the night, staying in this village because someone paid me to find the source of the rumors, I grew up elsewhere in a wealthy household and became a well-known mercenary not for her brute force but for her logic. I'll hunt whatever someone wants me to if the price is right, and right now that's whatever is terrorizing this village. I'm skilled with the bow and arrow as well as the blade."
What else? ...Oh! "She--" the girl pointed at the Gryffindor Prefect, Annabelle-- "is my partner on the field, and we're working together to try to unearth the were in our midst!" Cel grinned, ducking her head to signify her termination. This would be fun... even though fun was a bland word.
