You are teleported to the heart of a maze. It is obvious that you as well as your peers have been magically teleported to this space. The air here is full of colors, illusionary butterflies flit past you. You see one fly right through a classmate and then flutter off. The instructions here were simple, find a partner and traverse this maze but beware, errant adventures turn out to be the fool. Yes, it would seem that this is a place for both tricks as well as treats. This year’s maze was fairytale themed, if one would have read the muggle-books, they would find the things here rather... familiar as if they were teleported right into the book itself, a fairytale come true for some. Those that had not read the books would simply find this a normal maze.
As you look around you notice that there are 4 paths that you can take. One to the North, one to the South, one to the East and One to the West. Moss covered flagstones mark the paths of this natural maze. Which way will you pick.
Options:
A.) Travel North
B.) Travel South
C.) Travel East
D.) Travel West

The usual 200+ word count rule has been reduced to 60+ words. You and your teammate(s) must stick together. If you are unable to make a decision which path to take by the end of this week, either the majority decision wins or a roll will be done to determine your path.
Action success, spells and physical attacks for example, are determined by a d20 roll accompanied with your stats. Results above 15 will be considered successful while anything less is not. Quote your actions and stats in your posts for easier reference.

[quote]You have until 26th April to get your posts in as well as decide on your route to take if you have not done so already. At least 2 players are required for the maze to continue. If an additional layer has not posted by the 26th, the maze with continue without that player. Should only one or no player(s) post by then, the group will be eliminated and therefore will not be able to continue.

Glen was both very excited and very apprehensive about their sojourn at the maze. He'd signed up for the event because it had sounded interesting (exciting) and he maybe he could use it to make some new friends.
The names of the other two in his group sounded familiar when he checked the sign-up sheet, but he wasn't quite sure if they'd really interacted much before.
So, when it was time to attend the event he made his way there on his own and looked around for familiar looking people (he hoped he'd at least vaguely recognize his group-mates) but he was teleported to the heart of the maze before he laid eyes on them.
Well, they were supposed to be ported in so he figured they'd all arrived and that triggered their getting send on? He inwardly shrugged and took a look around to see if they arrived with him.
Whoa.
This place looked... fantastical. Someone must have really put some work into this. He was too busy to stare at the maze. This was awesome!
He didn't care what way they went, he'd just follow the others – he was way too distracted by the sight to bother deciding on a direction.

Going on adventures. Which thirteen-year-old boy didn't like that idea? Edric couldn't think of a reason to not enjoy the prospect of being on a grand quest inside this maze. The structure itself, the hedges, were truly fantastical. Edric's amber eyes followed a couple of tiny, colorful butterflies as they made their way through the maze and fluttered away towards a patch on his right side. He was pretty sure he'd seen a bunny too, a white one with big huge ears that had jumped around a corner before he's had time to get closer to it.
That he had one of is best friends with him was a great bonus, of course. He looked at Marcia and smiled at her, happy that she had agreed to come to the maze. She definitely wouldn't be afraid of whatever thing they'd encounter in here, Edric was sure of that.
The last member of their team was someone he was vaguely familiar with, a Slytherin from his year actually, but somehow they had never paid much attention to each other. Still, the other Second Year - he was a Prefect, maybe, he wasn't sure - should enjoy their little adventure as well. Edric waved at him and pointed to the obviously magical, very pretty, butterflies he'd watched earlier.
"Let's go this way, okay?" he asked the other boy and then pointed at the butterflies. "I'd really like to see where they're going. Look Marcia, they're so beautiful!"
Fascinated he followed the tiny creatures as they fluttered away from their small group.

An event that would not happen on, in or anywhere near the Lake? Marcia huffed in excitement and felt the earth below her feet. Finally, she thought and grinned at Edric, who seemed to be just as anxious to finally start as she was. Her eyes fell on the second boy, she had seen him somewhere but they would have time to get to know each other better; well or at elast they would have some fun together.
She had barely time to nod her head at the others, when a strange sensation sweppt over her, sucking her away, to ... "Wait what?" Bright colors made her squint her eyes, and she almost had the feeling to taste some sugar on her tongue. "That's new." Still better than anything with, in, on, around or near the Lake. Marcia was pleased.
She watched Edric choosing a path and felt proud seeing him walking ahead. East it is then. "Phef, phef." With a swish of her hand she tried to fight away a butterfly right infront her eyes. Or was it a butterfly?

You and your partner(s) decide to go EAST, after a rather short walk, you are met with a crossroad that appears to have three paths of exit. Straight ahead, about mid-way there is a path marked with these same flagstones and directly ahead you would see a wall of bushes showing the terminal point of the path ahead, perhaps the trail takes a sudden turn or perhaps it was a dead end or another door awaited. To your left is a path that appears to end with a perfectly round bright green door left ajar. It would looks like something like the cottages doors in the hobbit. Your other option was to your right is another doorway this one carved from cavestone leading into a tunnel.
Options:
A.) Continue Down Path (East)
B.) Through Hobbit Door (North)
C.) Through Tunnel (South)

Marcia almost was in the mood to whistle. This whole thing was great. She walked with a faint spring in her steps, as she was watching the walls of the maze. Solid earth and neatly grown plants wherever she looked; she loved it. Well, she may had a good mood, but she was tense nevertheless. So far this maze was too easy. They hadn't encountered anything besides glittering insects and … no that was it just glittering insects.
"All good, Edric?" she asked him to at least break through the silence. The maze was nothing to be afraid of, yet, which meant that Marcia had her hand ready at her wand. Just in case a roaring Chimera would jump out of the walls. Or that one bush right there. Who knew, what the professors had in store for them? They could however be sure that they had something in store for them.
She was almost disappointed as they passed the bush and nothing happened, instead they found another crossroads. With a good distance to either passage Marcia stopped to observe. "A door, how nice and not suspicious at all", was the only thing she remarked. Her words dripped with sarcasm. The middle path looked like it was exactly the same as the one they had been wandering till this point.
"What do you say, boys?" She leaned her head slightly to the right. "The tunnel looks inviting."

This place was seriously amazing. Glen had been to busy staring at everything they walked past – was that a pink vine or a snake on the wall of the maze?? He wanted to stop and watch to see if it moved but he immediately got distracted by one of the butterflies again.
Dimly he noted that the other two were talking to each other but he didn't pay attention. He kind of wanted to have the head of an owl right now – he couldn't turn his head enough to see everything. Or he needed another set of eyes...
He was so busy checking things out that he almost ran into the girl when she stopped at a crossroads. He blinked and took a step back – no need to stand that close to her and risk bumping into her as soon as either of them moved. “Sorry.” he mumbled.
Turning away, Glen suddenly noticed the door to their left. Was that..? He couldn't believe it. A door that looked as if it was straight out of the Hobbit. Oh, he really wanted to open it to see what was behind that but... the girl's (Maria? Martha? He wasn't sure.) words made him wonder. What if the door was trapped? Or what if the door was a trap?
With a small sigh he turned to check out the other side. A tunnel. Well, yes, the tunnel looked inviting, he guessed. It certainly looked like it “Could be an adventure!” he offered, smiling.
“Although, I have to admit, I do want to know if there's a Smial behind that door. It certainly looks like a Hobbit door – if you know what that is? - but you're right, that door could be hiding something bad.”
He took a step to the side to look at the path behind the girl. Glen was almost disappointed that it looked like just more of the same – but then, there had been so much interesting stuff to see the way they came.
“Hm. What do you think?” he asked, turning to the other boy.

Edric registered when Marcia talked to him, but his eyes were still on those beautiful butterflies. Somehow it felt like he couldn't tear his gaze away from them. "Yeah, I'm fine. This maze is... I've never seen something like this before. You think there are magical creatures in here too?" He finally looked at the other two Slytherins, seeking confirmation. That was also the moment that he remembered that he should maybe have shown some manners and introduced himself to the other boy.
Edric rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Edric Banes. Nice to meet you." I smiled at his fellow Slytherin, trying to lighten the mood for their upcoming adventure, but was distracted when they reached another crossroad.
Marcia obviously didn't trust the door that looked to be right out of a story book. He agreed that it could be hiding something, but her tone made it clear that she thought it would be a bad idea to go there. So Edric agreed with his friend's proposal. "I don't mind the tunnel."
On an afterthought he added, "But what's a s- shimal? I've never heard of it, is it a animal, a creature?"

The trio go to push open the door, leading down into the tunnel. As they touch the cave door, they feel the floor beneath them start to crumble away. They find themselves clung to, quickly sinking, like they were standing in quicksand. It was as though Within moments, the cave door opens up and pulls them in.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
The stone floor turned into a slide and they find themselves going down it, turning corners and hitting the sides quickly. Edric hits the cave walls painfully as he slide down. There would definitely be a bruise forming on at least one of his arms and he hit his knee too, which stung. Glen and Marcia also hit the cave walls but rather lightly, it was rather enjoyable in fact.
Edric landed first, into a small sandpit. He looked up to see Glen coming in straight after him. He had mere moments to reach and move. If he hesitated, this could only hurt further... Luckily his agility was strong, he swiftly rolled out of the way, despite the pain he was suffering. He would see a long narrow path ahead, only one way to go, really. The cave was engraved with a carvings. Symbols, pictures... Ancient Runes.
Glen landed second, safely in the sandpit. He landed with a bump, which hurt a tad bit. But he followed Edric's example and quickly moved out of the way. Narrowly, he managed to get out in time so he was not hit either. Glen barely had time to see anything before the light disappeared but caught a glimpse in the distance a rather creepy looking picture of a giant skull and crossbones. There was something else near the skull, perhaps a table of some sort but he didn't get a chance to see it.
Marcia was the last to land. She sat in the sandpit, free to take her sweet time. Of the three of them, she probably enjoyed the trip the most. It was just like a giant slide for her. Her strength and endurance helped her to cope with it a lot better than the boys had. The entrance that they had come through suddenly closed up, swallowing all of the light as soon as it had chucked her out. She saw absolutely nothing before the cave was covered in darkness.
