Annabelle's eyebrows shot up as she saw twenty student hands fly into the air. She hadn't expected quite so many, but she was certainly prepared for it. This was going to be awesome! "Follow me!" she told her fellow campers. Anna then made her way out the door, looking behind her occasionally to watch the flood of people trailing after her. She tried to count, but it was difficult with everyone moving around. As the young Prefect reached the bonfire, she stood atop a large log to get a better view. One, two...eight...seventeen... twenty one! Twenty one players!

This was fantastic! With so many players, it was bound to be an amazing game. Though it did concern her a bit... Was she in over her head? Twenty-one people was a rather large crowd to keep track of, and the 12-year-old camper was not exactly the most experienced person that could be running this event. That, and there was an issue with the number itself. She had planned to divide everyone into two teams, but there was an odd number of people who wanted to play. Anna certainly didn't want to leave anyone out. Perhaps she should join in on the game? No, then nobody would be there to enforce the rules. As much as she wanted to play, the little Prefect knew her place in this game. Perhaps they could divide into three teams.

A look of panic began to spread across the young girl's face. Everyone had gathered by the bonfire now, and they were all looking to her for instruction. Her mind raced to find a solution to the number problem, but nothing seemed to come to mind. She only had two colors of glowsticks... Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. Annabelle looked down to see a blonde girl whom she recognized from a few of her classes. She had light blonde hair and spotted blue eyes. More importantly, she had a calm look on her face that brought Anna quite a bit of comfort. It seemed to tell her that this girl had a plan.

"Hey, Annabelle, right?" The blonde student inquired.

"Yes." Annabelle spoke as softly as she could so that the crowd did not think that she was addressing them yet.

"I noticed there's a lot of people here. I don't mean to be offensive or anything, but do you maybe need some help? I swear I'm not trying to step on your toes..."

"Of course!" This was perfect! She clasped the girl's hands in hers, grinning with relief. "Thank you so much! If you'll watch the North side, I'll take the South."

The prefect then turned to the crowd of students and began to explain the rules. She hoped that the blonde girl was alright with her instructions. She would have liked to have a longer conversation and plan things out better, but there had been this whole group of players waiting for her to speak. At least she did have a few people on her side already. Edric, Emma, Angela, and Lilith- her team captains. These were the people whom she had recruited before the game. Thanks to them, she was happy to find that everything was pretty much set up. The bonfire already had two sets of glowsticks stretching out to the North and South. They spread out across the whole campground, alternating in color. This was their border line.

The group handed out glowsticks to the various players, and once the rules had been established, Annabelle stood atop the log again. Now she had her own glowing decorations made out of both of the colors. Though she was very excited for the game itself, making these had been her favorite part so far. She had twisted them into two armbands that looked like gauntlets, a flower which she fastened into her hair with a clip, and of course the required necklace. She waved her gauntleted hand in the air, calling for everyone's attention. "Alright everyone!" she declared. "Now that you know what team you're on, it's time to get started! You will have five minutes to hide your flags. Get together, talk with your teams, discuss strategy... as long as you get your flag up, you can do whatever you want with this time. Nobody is to cross into enemy territory until these five minutes are up!" She smiled at the group, then looked to her blue-eyed compatriot. Anna shot her a questioning look, suddenly realizing that she didn't know her classmate's name. Lucy, the girl mouthed. "Lucy and I will be watching the border here, so no funny business." Annabelle tapped her Prefect badge, driving in the point that she was in some place of authority and would be strict about enforcing the rules. "Have fun everybody! Aaaaaaaaand break!"

Lilith nodded her head along with the rules. She had never played this game before as it seemed to be a primary Muggle children's game. That didn't make her any less interested though. Lilith was always up for a game that seemed to be based on strategy and she planned to win. Lilith Westlocke was no loser. Lilith was wearing full black to blend in with the shadows to the best of her ability with the glow sticks wrapped around her neck and wrists.

The Gryffindor girl turned back to her team, Virgo. Happy that she was attacker captain, and decided it was best to leave the flag to the Defenders as that was going to be their primary target. She looked to Edric Banes, a boy in her year that she never met before this little competition. "I'll leave it to you and the other Defenders to hide the flag then?"

Lilith focused on her team of attackers. Personally, she felt like this was the best position for her. Hopefully, with some planning, their team will work together as a well-oiled machine under her rule. Determination glowed in Lilith's eyes. She glanced towards the other team, catching sight of a few of her colleagues. Unlike her current team, she actually knew some of them, including the Helm girl's sidekick Emma Hill and Aurelia, the girl that came to her fellow Gryffindor's need. She even saw her dormmate from the McGonagall dorm. She never did get along with her.

"Alright attackers," she addressed them sternly. "We need a game plan. There are five of us including myself. I'll leave it up to a vote. We can either stick together and try to find and retrieve the flag together or go into separate groups. If we stick together, it would lead to a bigger target. Separation would mean that we have less communication with each other, but it could help us find the flag quicker." Lilith herself would choose to split up, but that was her lone-wolf nature speaking. Trying to work past her bossy nature, Lilith wanted her team to feel less like a dictatorship and more like a democracy, even if it was a false one. Over Lilith's ego was her will to win.

Emma was ecstatic to be a team captain, she preferred defending much over attacking, it was easier. The stress put on her was unbearable. If the other team had scored it was mostly her fault, she shook the thought out of her head and replaced it with competitive thoughts. They won't be able to get through defenses if so, we'll hide it somewhere not-so-obvious.

She had tied her hair back into a low ponytail, and for once, straightened her hair. It reminded her of when she used to play volleyball during the summer. She figured the Great Lake was a good place to store the flag, but then another side of her kept nagging with her. Port-a-pottys were her next go, they were so disgusting, no one would dare step foot near it without getting a whiff of who-knew-what.

The brunette looked down at the red glowing bracelet giving to her, it was such a unique way to divide the teams. As long as she could remember the people on her team, she wouldn't have to worry about the oncoming opponents. She had already memorized one of her teammates, Jeronimo Khan, they had gotten along pretty well. She waved to the ones she knew, including one of her enemies, though it was more of a 'my team's better than yours' wave. There we also some enemies alongside with her, but her competitiveness had conquered her pettiness. She was ready to show an enemy of her friend, Lilith Westlocke, that she was way more than a 'minion'.

Emma jogged back to the end of the East Field to meet her team. Her ponytail swished and jumped as she came to a stop. "I'm all in for suggestions, we have a few minutes to hide the flag. I want to hide it near the port-a-potty, but I feel like that'd be a bit too obvious."

As the defending captain, it was most important that the flag wasn't discovered. She looked at both the defenders and attackers, each played a crucial role in the game. She looked down at the opposing side in hopes to decode their tactics as well.

Alaska preferred the food from the Great Hall. Not that camp food wasn't good, it's just that she never really enjoyed the generic cookout foods like hot dogs or hamburgers. Despite all that, she finished her plate rather quickly. Perhaps it was because she barely ate anything during lunch. "Hey, anybody up for Capture the Flag?" From a distance, she spotted a dark-haired girl yelling quite loudly. Capture the Flag brought back many memories from her muggle school. Physical Education was one of her favorite subjects, and every Friday they would play Capture the Flag. Although she was almost always chosen last, she proved herself to be quite a valuable asset to her team as she is light and swift. Ctf was the only game that made her feel with her peers. Thus without hesitation, Alaska thrust her arms high in hopes she could recreate the same feeling of 'being with' her fellow classmates.

The dark-haired girl signaled to follow her outside. She wasn't sure if the Professor allowed this but she didn't care. This was summer camp after all. She glanced around at the large group of campers participating. She recognized a few people whom she had classes with. One person stood out in particular; Amanda Sparrow. Although their friendship was young, Alaska could sense a premature undying friendship forming. She wanted to go greet her, however, she was blocked by a stream of excited campers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The teams have been chosen, and as if it were destiny, Alaska was a Virgo attacker along with Amanda. She knew this was her chance to stand out among the others. Although her physical strength was weak, her lightness and agility made her a fast runner. Her captain, Lilith Westlocke started to break down strategies.
Westlocke: "We need a game plan. There are five of us including myself. I'll leave it up to a vote. We can either stick together and try to find and retrieve the flag together or go into separate groups. If we stick together, it would lead to a bigger target. Separation would mean that we have less communication with each other, but it could help us find the flag quicker."
Alaska was quick to respond. Her experience in this game has made her a somewhat veteran. She hoped that this game of CTF was no different from the muggle's game. If her strategy fails, she would be a flaming ball of embarrassment. Nevertheless, she was confident that this would work. "We should definitely split up early so that we would be able to spot the flag faster. If one of us gets tagged, we have to return to our side. As soon as we get back, run back into the enemy territory and keep on searching for the flag. Once someone spots the flag, then we group up and aim for the flag." Alaska was quite proud of herself for her explanation. She went to put on her glowsticks while waiting for responses. She put on the minimum amount of glowsticks required as there would be less light revealing her position. As much as she was excited, she felt uneasy as wands and spells were allowed in the game.

Glowsticks. Edric came from a wizarding family. The closest to a muggle-relative he had had been his great-grandmother on his father's side, who'd been a half-blood. His family lived in the victinity of a muggle city, yes, and he had seen muggle clothes, cars, bicycles and a few other muggle oddities in his life. That happened when you lived in close proximity with non-magical people, like the odd muggle trying to walk onto their fields and startling the herd with their loud music devices.

Still he stared at the tiny, blue glowing bands in absolute wonder. He hadn't known that muggles could produce stuff like that. They had electricity, all their things needed it to work apparently, but he knew that it didn't work around magical places like Hogwarts. So he simply stared at the blue thingies around his wrists in wonder. How did they work? Why did they work? This was a puzzle to him.
"I'll leave it to you and the other Defenders to hide the flag then?"
He was pulled from his musings when the leader of his team's attackers addressed him. Lilith Westlocke was a Gryffindor with jet-black hair that he couldn't remember having met before, but that wasn't that unusual in such a big castle, really.

Edric straightened and gave her a nod. "Sure," he hurried to answer. "Good luck with their flag."

She turned to the group of their attackers them to talk strategy with them and he followed her example and turned to the Defenders of Team Virgo. Two of them - Anatole and Amadea - were a Hufflepuff and a Gryffindor Prefect respectively that he'd met before, being a Prefect himself. The other two students he didn't know however. He smiled at the two Ravenclaw girls, trying to make them feel welcome.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Edric Banes, nice to meet you," he greeted them, warm amber eyes moving from one person to another. "Our job is to hide the flag. Does anyone have any ideas? We could put it close to the Lethifold Cabin. Professor Valtome spelled it so the atmosphere there becomes all cold and gloomy when you get close to the tent."

This was the only thing he could think of on short notice, and he waited if maybe one of the others had a better idea, ready zo move the flag wherever his fellow Defenders thought it best to hide. Edric wasn't really much of a leader so he didn't want to tell them what they had to do. It was better to let everyone voice their opinion and then choose the best course of action.

Blaze had signed up for Capture the flag a game he had played before... with his friends... well his brother's friends who didn't really like him or anything... Ok, let's just say. Blaze had decided to sign up for Capture the flag he really enjoyed the game the last time he played it so he knew this time would be just as fun! "Why wouldn't it be fun?" he muttered to himself as he walked up to the flag. He wasn't really sure what to do he didn't know anyone in his team. "Maybe it was a mistake... No!" he shouted before looking around to see if anyone had heard him. "I always give up and never get things done," This wasn't actually true but in Blaze's eyes, it was. In Blaze's eyes, he was a failure nothing like his brother. He quickly stepped on his left foot with his right he needed to snap out of it!

He took a deep breath and looked around the area. Still, Blaze didn't see anyone he knew. It kinda upset him he really wished one of his few friends would have joined him. He knew one of them had a reason but the other; "No don't think about it,". He needed to team up with his teammates (say that fast three times)

So he took a good look around wondering if anyone would join him.

Jeronimo was a big kid. He adjusted the glowsticks on his wrists. These were... really uncomfortable. And he wasn't a big fan of the red color. Especially when it hung ominously around his neck. His father had always told him that red was not a lucky color. Jeronimo felt dread as he realized this might not work out.

But now their captain was speaking. Emma Hill. Jeronimo had run into her a few times, and he more-or-less trusted her. Closest thing he had to a friend at Hogwarts, so far.

"Porta-potty?" Jeronimo said, "Um... maybe. If we hide it behind the porta-potty, that might work. It's just... the most important part is that we can't be crowded around the flag. Right?"

He looked around at his teammates. "'Cause... you know. If we're all huddled around the flag, then, you know, we're guarding the place for a reason."

Jeronimo cleared his throat again.

"So then... they'll know. That the flag is near- I'm over-explaining it, aren't I?"

Jeronimo licked his lips nervously and looked at the flag he was holding.

"You know, maybe the porta-potty isn't a bad idea. I know we're supposed to keep it visible, but if we put it behind the porta-potty, then we can flank them and they'll have nowhere to run but towards the Great Lake."

Capture the flag. It was a Muggle game involving hiding, trickery, and a lot of running. Amadea was definitely not a runner. Why had she signed up for this again? Thankfully, she had been assigned as a defender, so she wouldn't have to worry about making it to the other team's side. All she had to do was make sure no one from Team Leo was able to get the flag on their side. Hopefully the people that came over would be tired enough from their run over that Amadea could catch them.

Amadea cracked her glow sticks and adjusted them around her wrists and neck as Annabelle had instructed them to do. She glanced around at her team members, watching as they snapped their glow sticks on as well. She recognized very few of her team members, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing but wasn't necessarily a good thing either. She recognized her two fellow Prefects, Anatole and Edric, but other than that there were only a few familiar faces and no one whom she would consider a friend. She supposed she would just have to forge new friendships with her fellow Defenders.

Edric gathered the Defenders and began discussing where they could put the flag. Amadea herself had no idea what the best place would be. Thankfully, Edric suggested the Lethifold cabin, run by the one and only Fainauriel Valtome. According to Edric, the professor had found a way to make the cabin's atmosphere cold and gloomy.

"That sounds like a good idea," Amadea said. "People wouldn't want to go over there if they knew it was dark and gloomy." As she thought about it more, she realized they might go there anyway. "Of course, people might just go there anyway if they thought that we would strategically put it there to ward people off. Then again, we don't have many other options, do we?" Amadea hoped her logical thinking made sense to everyone. Maybe she was blabbering on about unimportant things, but she was just voicing her thoughts as they came to her.

She shut up after the last question, looking around to see if anyone else had anything to input to the conversation. If not, she supposed they would hide the flag near the Lethifold cabin and wait for the game to begin.

Mary wasn't sure why she signed up. Maybe because she wanted to try something new , maybe she wanted to make friends, she hadn't decided yet. Though she came to understand that capture the flag was a muggle game that muggle children play a lot. It contained hiding, thinking strategically, and running. Mary wasn't the one for running but thought that it was to late to back out now. Sucking up her regret she followed everyone to the spot the game would take place in.

Looking around at well everyone she noticed that a majority of them are second years. This made Mary nervous as the second years Mary had met, well they weren't exactly fond of the younger students. Mary was one of the first students to sign up and the thought of older students didn't quite cross her mind. Mary knew though . that she was going to give this game all she got. She wanted to show the second years, the ones that despised the younger students at least, that a first year could do just as well as they could. Mary stood up straight and walked over to her teammates, the virgo defenders.

Their captain, which she now knows name is Edric, started devising a plan on where to hide the flag. Mary thought the plan he devised was good yes but, maybe it was obvious? Mary went to speak but closed her mouth before the words came out. She debated weather she should make an input or not. She didn't want to get on the older students bad side so she simply nodded her head and wondered if they even noticed she was there.

As soon as Angela heard about this capture the flag signups, she was sure she must participate. This game required certain amount of stamina, boldness and planning, and she was sure she can pull off all three. She was one of the first to sign up, and assigned as a team captain.

The defenders already grouped to discuss hiding the flag. Hey, Angela threw in, hearing their dialogue, please remember that we will have to return to the flag sometimes, it would be good to have it somewhat near the border. Of course we will try to avoid getting tagged. It's up to you to decide, it'll surely make the defense harder... Just a suggestion.

Now was the time to come up with some attack plan. Angela turned to her small group of attackers and cleared her throat. Proud Leo attackers!, she intoned. Now is the time to be smart and brave... just like we are! This is how you do captaining, right? We must get this flag, and we will stop at nothing to acquire it! I believe in you, my Leos! She honestly didn't know any of these people. But she somehow believed anyway. Now... Where do you think they could hide it?, she asked in her normal voice. I was thinking Forbidden Forest edge or Herbology Hut. They are both kind of far from here and hard to get to.

Oh, and I think we should go in pairs or threes, she added. It might take longer, but we will have more options if they attack us. We could either fight back or scatter to be harder to catch. What do you think?
