One, two, three, four.

Lydia kept counting in her head as she moved her hands over the strings of the harp, as a bittersweet melody filled the air of the semi-desert Rehearsal Room.

When she had entered the room, she had originally intended on playing something on the piano; she had spent the whole summer exercising with it, and thanks to her grandma's help she had managed to learn quite a few songs. But the piano wasn't the only instrument she had practised during the time spent in London: much to her surprise, she had found a particular love for playing the harp; her grandma herself was particularly skilled with it -she was, after all, a full Veela, and therefore extremely talented in music-and she had taught her how to play it.

So when she had noticed the elegant instrument standing there, in a corner of the room, right by the windows, the red headed girl could not resist the urge to play it. She was also quite thankful for the fact the the rehearsal room was practically empty, since she had learned that, when a Veela, or even a part Veela, plays an instrument or sings, that could have some effects on the other people listening to them. When she had learned that, her mind had raced immediately to her first meeting with Rafael, and to the way he had behaved; she wondered if, in some ways, she had done something to him, and maybe that was why he liked her.

That was quite a recurring thought in Lydia's mind. How many of the people she had met and were now her friends actually liked her for who she was, and not because of her race? And how many of them were willing to still be friends with her, once they would know the truth? Sure, once she had told, that morning, to some friends she used to hang out the previous year, they seemed quite surprised and then they made excuses to why they already had to leave from breakfast, so Lydia wondered if they would have still talked to her.

She somehow doubted that.

Once she had finished playing the song, she started from the beginning, and decided to put more effort into it; she tried to make the music sound more captivating, her movements more elegant, even her eyes were now more focused. She wanted to see what would happen, if she had tried to willingly use her Veela charm while playing an instrument.

That as well had been something that the red headed girl wanted to... almost test out, during the new school year. She wanted to see the effect she had on people when she was actually trying to be more approachable, more lovely, and when she wasn't trying. Of course, she had promised to herself one thing: she would have never done something like that to someone she cares about.

That was where she would draw a line.

"Everything beautiful is ruined eventually."
