Gaining Confidence Pv Opeila Closed

Summer had ended, and school was now in session. Another ball was coming up in less than a week but that was the last thing on her mind. You know what was on her mind though? Quidditch. Images from the last game flashed in her mind. Anger pouring over her as her teammates fell from the sky, pride at scoring her first goal although the keeper wasn't there, fear as she fell from the sky and crashed into the ground before utter darkness clouded her vision.

Annie blinked a few times, realizing her vision had blurred due to tears threatening to fall. She stood in the middle of the training pitch, case in one hand, broom in other. The girl set down both of them and saw that her hands were shaking quite a bit. Gently she rolled her left wrist, remembering how any sudden movements would hurt. A small sigh left her mouth as she silently thanked the healers, a few images passing through her brain of the fight that broke out at the hospital. Her body shook with a large shiver at the snapping of the one Durmstrang boy's leg as the sound echoed in her skull.

After a brief silence of collecting her thoughts she picked up her broom and ran a finger across the smooth and polished mount. The broom was well-taken care of, probably better than herself at times, for a better-maintained broom means it will be more successful and even treat you better. A small smile broke out on her face as she thought of her first flying class and how a broom can act out if not taken care of, similar to a wand. She broke the sweet memory but getting herself in position before mounting the broom. Her feet hovered a bit off the ground as a ball lodged in her throat as she closed her eyes. This would be the first time she would ride a broom after that.. event. But surely nothing would go wrong, there were no people trying to kill her and as long as she was confident in her abilities she would be fine. With one last breath, she opened her eyes, determination sweeping away her nervous aura.

And then she kicked off.

@Annie Morgan (Note for myself: 10th October)

Opeila mind had been wandering. Wandering. Wandering. For days now, weeks, months. Wandering back to a shady place and making it her reality over and over again. Flashbacks of darkness, entering a teenager's body and leaving it on the other side, blood streaming over hands pressed on the wound. The shadow towering over her, the certainty of being dead, killed, stabbed like the third year boy was in a moment. Her own hands covered in blood from a scratch on her face, caused by a prefect of her own house...

The little girl couldn't even sleep anymore. Every shadow seemed to move towards her, her bed, seemed to be an arm rising to stab her in a moment. How many hours every night did she lay in her bed, her blanket covering her like a shield, curled up and trembling? Until everyone was asleep and she dared to light her wand and then a candle?
Opeila couldn't handle darkness anymore. She couldn't handle being trapped anymore. Sometimes, in lessons or even a stall of the toilets, she just suddenly had the feeling walls and ceilings were moving towards her, closing up, taking all air away. Was it temporary flashs of claustrophobia? Possibly.
It was not really surprising after all the horrors Opeila went through in her first year and summer as well. It had to leave traces and it had to be deep ones.

After only a week back at school, Opeila had found running to be a good way to temporarily distract herself from her demons. Sometimes, when she returned to the castle after, she almost felt like a normal person even.
It was one of these saturdays. After breakfast she took an hour to do some homework and afterwoods went outside for a jog. It was getting colder clearly, after only a few minutes, Opeila's cheeks were red from the cool air. Surely it wouldn't take long anymore and then snow would fall. Better use the kind of good weather as long as it was there.

Opeila's endurance wasn't to good yet. On good days she could run for half an hour, sometimes only fifteen minutes. Today it was about twenty minutes until her lungs hurt. It was a good pain. A pain that would distract her, a pain that wouldn't harm her. It would go away and she could make it come back whenever.
Panting the Slytherin made her way over to the Quidditch Training pitch, wiping some sweat of her forehead. She would sit down there for a moment and then go back to the castle. Just a moment.

Opeila only entered it, when she saw that she wasn't alone. There was a girl with a broom, hovering in the air, her eyes closed. Was that... an almost painful expression on her face? Unsure she stepped closer. "You alright?", she asked carefully.
