The sunset at Hogwarts was among one of the best in the world. Hogwarts' gray walls, the green grounds, and the dark lake beyond turn to gold as the sun makes its final farewell in the west. Others would have stopped and let their eyes feast on the beauty before them. Some get inspired and they would paint it or take a photograph.
But not Mystery Anne. She was too intent on watching the players of the Gryffindor team in their Quidditch practice. She had not yet learned to fly. She was daunted by the idea of it. She had a little bit of a phobia with heights. But that won't stop her. In fact, that was why she was here. She's trying to get used to the idea of it. She'd earlier leaned on the rail looking down on the ground below imagining as though she was on a broom. She got a little lightheaded and immediately sat down. She had not moved since then.
"Oh no," she had gasped as one of the players slipped her hold from her broom. She sighed in relief and amazement as the girl easily got control over her broom. She didn't even look fazed. She just adjusted her seat, and moved on to bat an oncoming bludger. There were young recruits there too, and she imagined herself among them fighting over a broom and having fun.
A sigh escaped her lips as she wondered when that time would come. She wanted it to happen soon, but there is a big hurdle she'd have to overcome.

Rose had always wanted to be up in the air, on a broomstick, adrenaline running through her veins as she scored ten points for her team, followed by deafening cheers from the crowd. She had always wanted to try out for her house Quidditch team. So she went to go watch the Gryffindors practice, wishing she was up there with them.
She sunset was beautiful, paining the world gold and pink. It stretched the shadows of the world and chilled the air as it slowly slipped toward the horizon.
She watched the players fly around, only silhouettes of black against the sunset.
She saw another girl sitting, watching the Quidditch players. She looked a little nauseous, and Rose couldn't see her very well in the dinning sunlight, but she was a Gryffindor and she was watching the Quidditch players, just like Rose was.
Gathering her courage, she walked up to her. In her soft, American voice, Rose introduced herself, saying, "Um, hi. My name is Rose. Rose Moon. Is it okay if I sit with you?"
She had never met this girl before, but they were both watching the Quidditch players, so they at least had one thing in common. Or, at least Rose hoped so...

Mystery Anne was too intent on watching the game she jumped when a fellow Gryffindor had walked up to her.
"Um, hi. My name is Rose. Rose Moon. Is it okay if I sit with you?"
"Oh! Hi, Rose!" She remembered her, she thought. Was it in during the Sorting Ceremony? One of her classes? Had they passed each other along corridors or even in the Common Room? She might have remembered a red haired girl. Mystery Anne promised to herself, she'll pay more attention to her surroundings. "Mystery Anne, pleasure to meet you!"
She noticed an accent she didn't recognize. She shrugged it off and maybe she'll ask later. "Are you here to watch the game too?" she asked excitedly. "I've been coming here to watch them practice. They're all amazing aren't they. I can't wait to watch the real thing." She'd heard the players talk about it and she became a tad envious with those that will be able to play. They said it was dangerous too. A few years back there had been a girl that was hit hard by a bludger and didn't wake up for three days, she heard them talk. Then there was that incident of someone falling off the broom, but was saved by one of the Professors. It should have scared her, what with her fears and all, but it just made it more exciting. She regarded Rose and wondered if she had the passion to the game.

The sunset reflected in Rose's emerald eyes as she watched the Quidditch players practice.
"Mystery Anne- that's such a beautiful name," Rose remarked. She meant it this time. She always tried to find a way to compliment someone, even if they had just met, but Mystery Anne... Rose kind of wished she had a name like that... Sitting next to Mystery Anne, Rose added, "Sorry if I startled you, by the way."
Mystery Anne went on excitedly, talking about the players and the game. Rose could tell she had a real passion for the magical game. "I'm here to watch them practice, too. I can't wait for the real game... I kinda wish I was up there, in the sky, with all of those Quidditch players, but they're so amazing and I don't even know if I have the talent. I know it's dangerous and all, especially for first years, but I really like Quidditch..." Rose finished. Rose's face turned a little pink as she caught herself rambling a bit. She didn't mind if other people rambled, but whenever she did, she was haunted by the feeling that she was just wasting people's time, while at the same time feeling good that that person actually let her talk. Though whether the pink on her face was because she was blushing or it was just the sunset, you didn't know.

"Thank you, yours is magical. I dunno. I just always connect the moon with magic. Don't you think it's magical too?" she said, looking up into the sky where the moon would appear in just a few hours and getting sidetracked for a second from their fascination about the game. "And no worries, I'm always getting surprised around here."
Then, Rose mentions herinterest in the game. Mystery Anne regarded her with eyes shining at finding a fellow Quidditch fan. It was like those times she finds a favorite book. One that didn't just have a good story, but it was also relatable. She tilted her head, finding the same admiration she had not only with the game, but with the players, as well. "Exactly," she exclaimed a little too loudly. "It's dangerous, but it's just more exciting as it is! We should try out, yeah? Once we learn how to fly?" Her mind wandered to an uncertain future where she is holding a broom, nervous - she could feel her heart beating loud - and eager to for the game to start. She imagined herself as one of the beaters violently hating those pesky bludgers away from other players. She hadn't thought about heating other players with it - which is one of the goals of a beater. Actually, she isn't thinking about doing it at all. She had always been reminded by her mother never to hit other people unless absolutely necessary to keep yourself from getting hurt. And most importantly, in this imagined future of hers, their house wins! The Seeker finds the Golden Snitch and holds it up in the air for everyone to see. She could almost hear them cheering their house!
Then she thought it was starting to become a reality when she actually hear clapping. She shook her head and she finally returned to the present. She smiled sheepishly at Rose for getting distracted. But it was just a for second or two. The dreamworld they said moved in a very different time than in the real world. You could go on an adventure for a year and you'll find that in the real world, only a minute or two had passed.
"That was a great hit!" one of the players had shouted from below. It must have been their captain.
"I'd like to be beater," she said. "What about you Rose? Which position would you like?"

"I dunno. I guess it sounds magical..." Rose shrugged. She knew the moon itself wasn't magical. She was tempted to start talking about how the moon had all of this science around it, to start describing how gravity and inertia kept the moon in orbit around the Earth, but she held herself back. Mystery Anne probably knew all that- she wasn't stupid.
"Yeah, we should try out!" she responded a tiny bit too loudly and enthusiastically, but she didn't care. She was excited to find a fellow Gryfindor Quidditch fan.
Mystery Anne started clapping and Rose shrugged. Some people just got so excited they started clapping. Not anything to stress about.
Then Mystery Anne asked her about which position she'd like. Rose tilted her head and said, "I'm not sure..." Rose really didn't know. All she knew was that she wanted to be up in the sky, helping her team. Probably not a Beater. She didn't want to hurt anyone. And probably not a Chaser, either. Chasers had to be really competitive. So either a Keeper or a Seeker. "If I had to choose, I guess it would be either a Keeper or a Seeker. I'm not very strong, but I'm pretty agile and fast, and I have pretty good reflexes, so I would love to be a Seeker or a Keeper."

"Oh! Yeah, you need to move pretty fast for that. The Seeker is the best because you have your team protecting you when you go for the Snitch. The Keeper, well, I think it's kinda boring since you don't really get to move around the Pitch. But it's a pretty important position and a lot of expectations," she answered looking over the game.
She turned to look at the Keeper currently holding the position by the goalposts. If she heard right from their earlier conversation, he was trying out for the position. He was shifting from side to side, and looked like he was waiting to fail. The others in the team also looked worried for him. Some are enjoying his discomfort. She felt sorry for him and hoped they will not be too hard on him. She then wondered what it would be like if she tried out. Would they be nice to her?
"By the way, have you watched a Quidditch World Cup?" she asked. She had never gone to watch it and her parents never did. At least, not in her lifetime. But she'd heard stories about her parents going to watch it. She wished she'd been born during that time when her parents still went to watch the World Cup. Then, she could've gone there and watch in person, even if she seated way up there where the players all looked like specks of dust in a sea of people.

Watching the Quidditch players and listening to Mystery Anne's explaination of what she already knew, Rose nodded. Being a Keeper might have sounded boring to Mystery Anne, but to Rose, the position of keeper always kept you on your toes. You had to always be watching them other players and ready for anything. You can't get distracted because then the other team could score a goal. Keepers could determine the outcome of the game. If you didn't have a good keeper, but your chasers were equally matched, you probably would not win.
Mystery Anne then asked Rose about if she'd ever been to a quidditch world Cup. Rose shook her head. "I wish. I've always wanted to," Rose told Mystery Anne, "but we've never had the extra time or money to actually do it." She had really wanted to go to a Quidditch World Cup tournament since she was little. Seeing the best Quidditch players in the world fly through the air like they were born to, or see a move she recognized from Quidditch through the Ages... It was one of her dreams. She wished she could go to one, just one, but she knew it probably wouldn't happen anytime soon. "What about you? Have you ever been to one?"

Aurelia walked excitedly towards the Quidditch training pitch, she had been waiting to watch the practices all day. The sun was setting, a beautiful array of colors shone onto Aurelias face as she watched the golden sun slowly sink into the horizon. Somewhere, the sun is rising right now. What a weird thought to have. She climbed up the stairs towards the Quidditch stands, two steps at a time. She heard the familiar whoosh of the brooms and the thud of the Quaffle being passed. Her adrenaline rising with every step and then... it was there. The Quidditch players were flying overhead, the chasers attempting a Thimberling shuffle while the keeper kept his eyes focused on the Quaffle. She had seen a match many times, but this was her first time watching a practice. She was staring intently at the game and with every second, her grin widened. She turned around to the empty stands, that at a second glance weren't empty as she thought, but had two fellow first-year Gryffindors that were chatting and admiring the Quidditch players above. Aurelia gathered her courage and decided to join them, so she had someone to talk to. "Hey! I'm Aurelia Roberts, but I go by Auri. Do you mind if I join you guys? I am trying to watch them too!", Auri looked back at the Quidditch players, that were zooming past in lightning speed. It was truly a spectacle! Aurelia spun back towards the girls and looked at them carefully, one had a bob of wavy brown hair with stunning brown eyes, while the other was a red-head with incredibly beautiful jade-colored eyes. She had seen both of them before, somewhere in the corridors. Aurelia smiled at them and judging from their admiration of Quidditch, Auri knew that they would get along well.

"Oh, sadly I haven't. I don't really know why. But my parents used to go and watch." Mystery Anne shrugged and sighed as her eyes followed the players zooming from end to end as they tried to escape the bludger and doing their best to shoot the quaffle on one of the goalposts.
"Oh no! That was so close!" exclaimed Mystery Anne as one of the players, probably the Seeker, leaned close on her broom as she reached out her hand on the snitch in front of her. She almost got it, but, in the last minute, the snitch flew up and away from the player. Nonetheless, the player was still admirable because she immediately changed direction circling and flying up again to look for the elusive snitch. "That was impressive! How did she not flew out of her broom? I bet you'll be that amazing Rose," she said, grinning at the fellow Gryffindor.
Speaking of Gryffindor, one approached them who looked also familiar. She shouldn't really be that surprised. Everyone would look familiar in this school the longer you stayed here. Especially, if you were in the same house. The new girl introduced herself as Aurelia.
"Pleasure to meet you Auri. And we definitely don't mind you joining us. The more the merrier, right?" She beamed at Aurelia. "So you're a quidditch fan too?" she asked excitedly forgetting to introduce Rose at the mention of also wanting to watch the game. "Oh, sorry. Rose. This is Rose," introduced Mystery Anne.
