Claryssa North hummed quietly to herself as she finished the short walk from the Ravenclaw tower out onto the grounds and into the Quidditch Training Pitch. Although it was nearing later in the month of March, the air was still frigid with the wintery winds, and the young Ravenclaw girl was bundled up with a scarf wrapped tightly around her neck. Cold weather or not, she'd promised James she'd meet up with him for a little bit of Quidditch practice that day, and she wasn't one to abandon her friends or disappoint. Arriving at the small clearing, Clary walked past the stands and headed over to the Ravenclaw locker room, getting changed into some proper clothing for Quidditch. It was a bit eerie standing there alone after just the other day it'd been bustling with Ravenclaws, eager to prove themselves to Professor Blevins. With results yet to be posted, tensions were high among those who waited with baited breath and hook, inspiring Clary and James to get a bit of practice in before the official news was posted.

While James, of course, would be practicing as Keeper for the day, Clary opted to try out both Chaser and Beater. During try-outs, she'd done a semi-decent job tossing the Quaffle back and forth amongst her teammates and had even managed to score once, but she knew six Chasers were probably going to be too much for the team, and she'd need the opportunity to be flexible at a moment's notice. Once dressed, she slammed shut the locker door, re-tied her scarf around her neck (she wasn't about to allow herself to freeze, playing Quidditch or not), and pulled her blonde hair up into a high-ponytail, getting it out of her face. She wouldn't be that successful of a Chaser, Beater, or anything if she was half-blind from the strands of hair that obscured part of her vision.

Once figuring she was ready for practice, Clary exited the Ravenclaw Locker Room and headed off towards the Quidditch store-room to grab one of the school-issued brooms, all of which were in slightly sorry condition. Fortunately, as everyone at Hogwarts was currently a First Year, they were all on even playing ground with the brooms they received. Next year would be cause for a bit more excitement once students were able to purchase and bring their own to try-outs, practice, and games. After sifting through the storage room for a moment, Clary found a broom in decent-condition, based on the standard she was working with, and carried it back out with her to the stands, opting to wait for James to arrive and get into his Keeper gear before she got out the Quaffle, bats, or any Bludgers.

James had been semi-excited about Quidditch ever since practice, where he found himself being a keeper for his team. James was prepared, having several piece of equipment that he used to play, mostly because he didn't want to get hit. James packed his bag with the leather equipment, and walked out of his dorm through the corridors of the castle.

James reached the training pitch, which was where the team would play practice games. It was also open for students to use. James looked up at the field, seeing three distinct hoops, all of which were his responsibility to guard. James looked up at Claryssa, who'd agreed to practice with James. He gave a smile in her direction, along with a small wave before entering the ravenclaw locker room. The locker room was large enough to fit the members of ravenclaw house, but was also smelled like a gym-locker would. James placed his bag into his locker, changing into clothes that would be better suited for Quidditch. Putting on clothes also meant he had to put on his most crucial piece of equipment: his helmets and pads. He slipped on the equipment, looking at himself as he was now protected from his head to toe. James grabbed one of the school brooms; brooms that were dirty and unclean. One could see the dust from a mile away. James slightly brushed it off, but didn't pay too much attention to it. The broom obviously hadn't aged well, a fact someone could easily tell.

James rushed out of the locker room, jogging while doing so. James signaled for Claryssa to play, despite her not having the necessary things to play. James got onto the broom, and flew up to the section of the stands where Claryssa sat. "You ready to play?" James asked, looking at Claryssa while still being in the air.

"Duh," she replied with a playful roll of her eyes. "Let me go grab the Quaffle really quick." The young Ravenclaw hummed quietly to herself, skipping off into the dusty storage room. A quick flick of her wand and murmuring of the incantation, Lumos shed a bit of light onto the space, but she still found it quite difficult to breathe as she sifted through the pile of boxes until she found the trunk she'd been looking for. While James warmed up in the air, Clary managed to drag the box out onto the edge of the field, unhooking the latch with careful hesitance. Although it'd never happened to her before, she always had the lingering fear that the Bludger and Snitch would simply explode into the air the moment she unleashed the latch, but, to her relief, they remained seated safely in their place, held down by individual straps that kept the errant balls from flying away.

Chaser had to be one of Clary's favorite positions to play, as it didn't require many materials. While James had to bundle himself up in a serious of protective padding and what-not, all she had to wear was the classic Quidditch uniform and a ready-to-play attitude. If she ended up playing Beater, she may be introduced to a few different items, but for the moment, she was content with the role she currently fulfilled. Clary rifled through the box for a moment, tracking down red, leather-covered ball that looked a tad bit like a dodgeball, from her previous school Physical Education experience. Smiling at a few old memories, she replaced the latch on the trunk, and mounted her broom, cradling the Quaffle in one hand as she flew up to the set of three metallic rings that marked the area where she must attempt to score.

"The better question is are you ready?" she retorted mischievously, hovering in front of the goals a good 10 or so feet away. She eagerly awaited to the opportunity to score and see how she matched up against James' skill.

James watched as Claryssa went to get the quaffle, James still siting on his broom. James quickly rushed towards the hoops after Claryssa got back, Claryssa taunting him with the same question he asked earlier. James gave a chuckle, laughing at the thought that he wasn't ready. "After this game is done, you'll wish I wasn't ready." James said, jokingly, of course. This was really just a practice game, meant to improve Claryssa's skill at scoring and James' skill at blocking. James signaled for Claryssa to move back a little bit so that they could start the game.  James was ready, excited to be back in the field.

James began to pace around on his broom, swooping through the hoops so that he could prepare for the game. The broom he was on was slightly wobbly, but that was kind of a given when it came to using the school brooms. James had a look on his face that was one of competitive spirit, showing a snarky glare, along with a large grin that spread across his face. "Alright, when I say go, you through the Quaffle in the air; got it?" James said, preparing for the game to start. "And...go!" James said, prepared for the game to start. This was going to be an interesting practice game.

I found this dice roller so just use this and add the amount of points you have in accuracy and then we'll see however as the higher number and that person's action succeeds.
And also, do a control roll every turn to make sure your broom isn't out of control. For this game, let's just say you need a roll above 8 for the broom to not be wobbly.

"Uh huh, I'm sure that's right," she replied jokingly. "Don't get too full of yourself yet, Henderson!" As James prepared himself for the "match", Clary flew over away from the goals to mid-field, waiting for her Ravenclaw companion to announce the beginning of the game. She still was in disbelief that she was flying; the cool breeze slapped her face, and her hands felt icy cold in the frigid air, yet she couldn't find herself with the will to care at all. There was something truly freeing about flying, and there was something even better to experience called winning!

Claryssa smiled, her eyes narrowing in focused determination, and glided effortlessly up towards the front of the hoops, angling the handle of her broom side-to-side in order to attempt to confused James before she chose to shoot. Fortunately for her, James was only a single person, and although Clary didn't have any team members to pass to in this mock-match, she had three different shooting angles to choose from no matter her location, whereas James was only able to protect one at a time.  Preparing herself, Clary darted over to the left on her broomstick, maintaining her balance with one hand, while she threw the Quaffle towards the direction of the bottom left ring with the other, attempting to make a goal.

She waited in focused anticipation to see if James would block Quaffle, prepared to swoop down and retrieve the ball as it made its descent towards the ground.

I'm not sure which dice we're supposed to roll out of, but I got a 20 on the 20-sided dice, plus 7 for control, which makes a total of 27.

I rolled once again for "accuracy" on the 20-sided dice and got 16, plus 6 for my stat, equals 22.

James saw as Claryssa threw a ball straight toward the goal, James reaching out his broom to try to block it from the entering the hoop. He tried to protect the hoop, but alas- the ball swung through the hoop, Claryssa making the shot. James got the ball after some maneuvers wit his broom, passing it back to Claryssa who would then shot the ball for the second shot.

James, shocked by his own lack of performance in the first shot. "Congratulations. Don't expect it to last for long though."  James said. Despite the fact he was joking, he did feel like this next shot would be the one he succeeded on. James dusted off his broom one last time before going back to the "game."

James remembered the Quidditch match that would occur in only four days, shocked at how fast the time flew by. "So, you ready for the game on Monday?" James asked, as he'd been researching tactics from the best keepers so that he could prefect his strategy. His mind was racing, he'd never been so invested into a sport until now. Quidditch was a sport he'd found interest in, and not something like football where he just stood there. He realized the importance of teamwork in the game, and that everything depended on teamwork.

"Yes!" Clary tossed an excited smile in James' direction, forgetting she was supposed to be gloating as she was simply amazed she'd actually succeeded. She held the stupid grin on her face, watching as the shot whizzed past James and flew through the hoop, before hastily getting retrieved by James. She accepted the Quaffle as it was thrown back, preparing her for round two of their little game. Something told her Quidditch would be a bit more difficult during a real match when she had to deal with the Bludger, other chasers, and everything else going on around her, but for now, their little interaction felt comfortable and honestly a bit entertaining.

She smirked at James' comment, finally remembering she was in this game to win it. How could she let James receive the satisfaction of winning when she'd already worked so hard to ensure her success. The blonde simply shook her head, seemingly calling out James on his lies, and waited patiently as James readied himself for the next shot. Preparing to shoot, she lifted the Quaffle, suddenly freezing at James' words. "By the Quaffle, that's this Monday?" Clary questioned, the color suddenly flushing from her cheeks. Yes, in her shock, she had just created a new catchphrase. Would it stick? Perhaps, she'd have to wait and see.

"I don't think I'll ever be ready, honestly. This is all the training I've gotten in! Thanks for agreeing to meet up, by the way. I don't think I could suffer through another round of finding Kaegan attempting to throw exploding ants, acidic salamanders, or luring creatures towards him with his own blood..." She winced, then, noticing James' expectant expression, realized she was becoming distracted. Getting her head back into the game, she darted around the hoop with decent control, hopefully, fast enough that James couldn't keep up, and shot the Quaffle into the edge of the top hoop, praying it went in.
