Gryffindor V Hufflepuff
March had sorely left, leaving behind a miserable sort of weather, the result of April and her mournful spirits. It was Tuesday, April 7th, the last Tuesday before Easter Holidays – and the day of the Gryffindor verses Hufflepuff Game. This is a spectator thread for students that wish to watch the adjacent Quidditch Game. Remember that what you say or do in this thread will not effect the actual match – however, players will be able to see or hear your IC cheering (or booing).
It was a sticky, suffocating sort of Tuesday Morning, April’s warfare starkly evident in the environment – the ground was soaking, muddy, moist, the soggy, sickeningly green grass squelching beneath the feet of all who happened to tread upon the grounds of Hogwarts on such a dreary afternoon. Light gray clouds pooled in the overhead sky, void of rain, shading the grounds in a dark, shadowy hue, a crisp breeze blowing southward on the grounds, cold enough to send a student into a fit of chills. The air seemed to reek of humidity, the suffocating sort that stuck to your skin and made the air feel considerably hotter than it actually was, a hateful sort of feeling that surely anyone who’d experienced despised. The conditions were certainly less than optimal, not the best for flying – however, such things would do nothing to deter the Quidditch players of Hufflepuff and Gryffindor from facing off against each other.
No one was expecting much of a turnout – the game had hardly been advertised, and the seating was rather poor, being only a few bleachers, wet from the previous day’s rain. However, that wasn’t to say that a few faces hadn’t shown up. After all, it wasn’t often that the school underdogs faced the undefeated champions – whether or not the stands were crowded or empty, the game would be much anticipated, as would be the results of such a face-off. There were certainly a lot of things at stake, that was for sure – reputation, pride. Chocolate frogs. A loss for either team could prove discouraging, as both had a lot to lose.
Today’s match would see the Lions facing off against the fiery Badger House in a battle of wits, as much as resolve and skill. And, on top of that, a test of the teams’ second strings. New seekers, new keeper… a few unofficial players had even joined the ranks, at that, leaving an entirely new field of possibility for both teams. Who would come out on top? Would it be the Undefeated Hufflepuffs? Or the Gryffindor underdogs?
I probably haven't collected my allowance yet.

The moment had finally arrived.
That very morning, Aaron would have played his first quidditch game, and Lydia couldn't have been prouder of her best friend. She knew how important this was for him, even if it was "only" an unofficial match; that was the reason why she had spent the previous afternoon working on a banner for him, hidden away in her dorm, to make sure that the wouldn't accidentally see it before the match. It wasn't nothing too complicated, since she had used most of her supplies the month before for Willow's banner and she hadn't heard from her mother since she had send her an owl in which she had told her she wouldn't have come home for the holidays.
If Lydia was being completely honest, the radio silence kind of scared her, even if she tried her best not to think about it.
When she had woken up, the red headed girl had gone through her usual morning routine, taking a shower and then adjusted her hair in a half-braid so that they wouldn't have bothered her as she watched the match. Then she spent quite some time trying to decide what to wear, the weather not really helping her, since it looked like it was going to be hot outside, but humid and windy at the same time. She ended up wearing a yellow skirt with a white/cream top, a pair of brown boots that went together with her automatic (and quite old) watch, and a burgundy cardigan. She knew that choosing such colour, combined with the yellow of her skirt, might have made it look like she was dressed with Gryffindor colours, but she didn't care - or to be more precise, she did care, but she wanted to support Rafael as well, and this was better than making a banner, more subtle - about what other people thought.
After a quick breakfast, with the banner under her arm, the red headed girl made her way towards the Quidditch training pitch. The air was still quite chilly when the wind was blowing, so she was happy she had put on a cardigan, but at the same time when there was no wind the air felt sticky and hot, full of humidity.
She finally reached the pitch, and Lydia could already see some people on the bleachers, even if they weren't as many as at the last Quidditch match she had been to. She quietly looked for a place to sit, choosing to stay in the third row, and then she looked towards the field, seeing some players already sitting on the benches.
It felt a little weird, being there all by herself, no known faces around yet. She was also feeling weirdly tense, her bottom lip captured between her teeth as she tortured it, her eyes scanning the field for any familiar face.

Sean had woken up early with a very excited Aaron, his best friend and the first friend he made at Hogwarts was finally playing his first Quidditch match. It was an unofficial match versus Gryffindor but even so Sean felt excited for his friend but couldn't help to also feel a bit nervous for him. He got ready deciding on what to wear, he didn't have much colorful clothing but had the his mustard colored coat for a bit of yellow. He then went down to the Great Hall with Aaron where they had breakfast and then his friend left to get ready with the team. When it was finally time to go, Sean made his way to the pitch trying is best not to ruin his shoes in the grass.
When arriving at the bleachers, he noticed that Lydia had already arrived and was sitting at the third row. Sean hesitated for as second but made his way over to her "Do you mind if I sit here ?" he smiled pointing at the space beside her. They had met briefly before but Sean didn't want to impose if maybe she didn't want his company, he knew that she was a very good friend of Aaron's but they had never really interacted just the two of them. She was holding what seemed to be a banner, one thing Sean was sure about is that Lydia was very supportive of her friends.

Anastasia had missed all of the previous Quidditch games due to her parents deciding that traveling was far more important than her education. She could hardly wait - her first Hogwarts Quidditch game! Sure, it was unofficial, but she didn't care. Quidditch was Quidditch. Anyway, some of her mother's best plays had happened in unofficial matches such as this simply because there was so much less pressure than a normal match. She wished she was playing but was perfectly happy to come and watch her friends play. Specifically, her new friend, Rafa, who happened to be the captain. Even if it hadn't been her friends and house playing, Anastasia was a kickass Quidditch fan.
She was fully decked out in red and gold and there was absolutely no question which team she was there for. She had gotten her hands on a pair of very short gold shorts (that probably broke the dress code if Hogwarts even had one), a red tank that had the house's name and mascot on the front and two brooms and a snitch on the back. Despite the deviation from her normal style, Anastasia's accessories were, per usual, perfect. Her necklace was a golden snitch and she topped off the look with an enormous red hair bow. She hadn't been quite committed enough to paint her face, but she was sporting a bright red lipstick and some very sparkly golden eyeshadow. Think Lara Jean from TATB in her lacrosse outfit.
She was sure her parents would have about killed her for wearing something like this, which made it feel even awesomer. She loved Quidditch, Gryffindor, and sparkles, so this was probably her favorite outfit ever. She wasn't artistic enough to paint a banner or anything, so she would have to cheer extra loudly. That was one thing that her parents wouldn't utterly disapprove of - every time they had gone to a Quidditch game, both her mother and father had cheered like insane people. It was probably the only time Anastasia had ever seen them look like they were having fun. Now that she thought about it, they hadn't gone to a Quidditch game in forever.
As the teams circled the pitch, she screamed loudly for all of her house's players. When Hugh flew by, she waved, since she wasn't sure exactly where she stood with him at the moment. When Rafa flew by, she started jumping up and down and cheering even louder. "LET'S GO, RAFA!!!!!" she shouted at the top of her lungs. Anyone who had ever seen her in any other context would probably think that she was insane and more than likely not even recognize her. Anastasia didn't care, she was too busy having the time of her life.

The players from the two teams started circling the pitch, and Lydia tried to spot her friends, her eyes moving from player to player. Then, her attention got caught by a voice next to her.
"Sean! Hi!" she said, a little surprised, but feeling extremely happy of having someone she knew there. She smiled at the boy and then nodded, gesturing towards the free seat. "Please! How are you doing? Excited for this game? I'm so hyped up for it! I can't wait to see Aaron in action!"
Lydia knew that whenever she felt excited, or scared, she had the tendency to talk excessively, her mind kind of forgetting what filters and boundaries were. She smiled at Sean and then looked back on the field, determined to spot her best friend. When she finally did it, she told Sean and then smiled wide and waved at Aaron, hoping that he would see her. She could feel inside of her throat all the tension for the game building up, and she could only imagine how the Hufflepuff boy must have been feeling in that moment.
Lydia's eyes started scanning the field again, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Gryffindor Captain, but she couldn't find him. She absently started chewing on her bottom lip, her eyes still roaming around, when her attention got caught by a girl's voice that was cheering quite loudly. She turned towards her direction, and she immediately understood which team she was there for; she couldn't help the little smile on her face, completely understanding the girl's enthusiasm for the game.
That very same smile fell from her face the very moment that the Gryffindor girl cheered for Rafael, feeling a wave of jealousy crush on her. She slightly frowned, her teeth sinking more into her bottom lip, as she wondered who the girl was. Perhaps she was a friend of Rafael, or maybe just a really big fan of the Gryffindor team. Or she could have been his girlfriend. That thought made her feel angry and sad at the same time, her eyes moving away from the girl, only to stare at her own hands. Now that she thought about it, Lydia had no idea if Rafael had a girlfriend, or boyfriend for all she knew, and she had just assumed that he didn't.
She looked up from her hands and took a deep breath, an uneasy feeling weighting in her chest.

"Damn right!" she muttered, rather satisfied with herself. She chuckled and winked at Rafa, before glancing at the other girl he had greeted on his way out. If she was a friend of Rafa's, that spoke pretty highly of her to Ana, and she made her way over to the Hufflepuff. Quidditch was the most fun when you were with other people, and Ana didn't much care who. Sure, she and the boy who sat with her were probably more supportive of their house team, but they were clearly not as hyped about all this as Ana was, so she doubted they would much mind the Gryffindor fanatic joining them.“Looking good, Anastasia!”
Confidently walking to the pair, she smiled brightly, a rare actual smile. Most of the time, when she smiled, it was either because she wanted something, was flirting, or was threatening someone. Tossing her long brown curls as she reached them, the girl began to speak. "Do you two mind if I join you? Watching Quidditch is ever so much more fun when you're with other people," she said, sounding abnormally friendly. For the majority of those who had encountered her, this would have seemed completely out of the ordinary and mildly unnerving. However, Ana was in a good mood, and anyway, she'd already set a Hufflepuff on fire and assisted in his getting a concussion this week, so she was trying to be relatively nice to the Huffles she encountered for the moment. It occurred to her that the boy might have told people about their encounter, but she shook it off. A, she had threatened to flambe him if he told anyone, and B, he hadn't known her name, so nobody would be able to tie it to her. "I'm Anastasia, by the way. I didn't catch either of your names?" she told the pair after a moment. Sure, Rafa had yelled both of the girls' names, but given how loud the arena was, there was the possibility that either of them had misheard it, and anyway, she hadn't the faintest idea what the boy's name was.

Janet shivered as she walked to the quidditch pitch and huddled her cloak around her tightly. She cautiously sat down on one of the cold frosty benches and began to shiver uncontrollably but she wouldn’t miss a quidditch match for anything, especially one where her best friend Ariana was playing. Janet had also previously been accepted to the team as well but being the busy person she was she decided to quit until some time in the future when she could balance quidditch with her current schedule. True her “current schedule” mostly included things like pranks and sneaking around late at night and she was unlikely to quit them any time soon but Ariana being her best friend was also very similar in the way of causing mischief and still managed to fit in quidditch. But then again Janet didn’t care as much about Quidditch as Ariana. And Ariana really was a natural on a broom she just seemed to walk through the air even on a rickety old school broom, Janet couldn’t help but admire her when she was watching her practice, she simply sent the bludgers soaring away from her every time. Both Janet and Ariana played the role of beater although Janet wasn’t on the team she often played some form of quidditch during the holidays. She started shivering again and pulled her large red and gold Gryffindor banner, which had a large picture of a roaring lion on it, around her using it as a blanket. Still feeling the cold wind bite her nose she pulled her Gryffindor scarf up to cover her mouth and nose. She would have to remove it when the time came to loudly cheer on her team but she couldn’t even see Ariana yet.

Sean smiled at Lydia, he sat down beside her looking towards the game "I'm good, excited but also bit nervous, what about you ?". He watched as the players came on the field, unofficial match or not they all looked pretty determined on winning this match. He tried to find his friend but a Gryffindor player caught his attention by calling out to a girl in the stands. Sean looked at the girl, who was without a doubt a Gryffindor fan with her red and gold clothing.
Sean then looked at Lydia who was seemed annoyed ? He was a pretty observant person but Sean didn't understand what happened. He was about to ask her if she was ok when the Gryffindor player called out to her too, was Sean "the company" ? The boy flew by with grin, something about it didn't sit well with Sean but he couldn't tell what it was. Before he could ask Lydia who the boy was, the Gryffindor fan came up to them with a smile on her face. Sean looked at the girl with his typical emotionless look, he was tall for an eleven year old but this girl seemed taller, was she in the same year as them ? Sean looked at Lydia who seemed a bit uncomfortable before looking back at the girl and tried his best to not sound cold "Nice to meet you Anastasia, sure you can sit with us. I'm Sean Hearth" he smiled a bit. He couldn't tell if the girl was being genuinely nice or not but he wasn't really the best person to tell the difference.

"I'm doing good! Really excited for the match!" Lydia answered Sean, and gave him a bright smile, before she looked back on the field. She was really happy that Aaron had introduced them, 'cause it meant that Sean was a good person to be around since Aaron was friend with him.
“Hey Lydia!”
Rafael's voice made the girl quickly look up from her hands, her eyes zeroing on the Gryffindor Captain in a second. Lydia felt as if her heart had skipped a beat for a brief moment, as her cheeks light up in flames; she could feel Sean's eyes on her, and probably others from the other spectators at the game, but it didn't matter. Rafael looked as if he was born to be on a broom, his whole presence making it quite clear of how confident he was.
Lydia gave him a little smile, and waved at him, before she looked back down. She tried to regain control of her emotions, task that lately had become quite difficult to do, before she looked at Sean. She was going to say something, when, another voice got her attention: the red headed girl didn't even notice the Gryffindor girl walk up to them, and for a brief second she was at a loss of words, her expression kind of confused. She blinked a couple of times as she came back to reality, and was really glad that Sean had already answered the girl's question.
"I'm Lydia! Nice to meet you!" Lydia answered Anastasia, and gave her a tentative smile. There was something about the girl that intimidated her a little bit. It was probably her confidence, and the fact that she was gorgeous, that made the twelve year old girl feel quite small and insecure about herself. But, at the same time, if she was a friend of Rafael, or even girlfriend, it meant that she was a nice person, so Lydia tried to put aside all of the negative thoughts that were going through her head.
"I like your outfit! It's really... really Gryffindor! Are you from the house as well, or just a big fan?" she asked her, genuinely curious and honest. "I'm so excited for today's game! My best friend is playing for the first time, and I can't wait to see what will happen!"

Elaine was excited about this “unofficial” match. Elaine may not have made the team yet, but she still wanted to support her fellow puffs. Elaine looked out her dormitory window at the weather outside to get an idea of what she should wear but still showing her house colours. Unfortunately, the weather did not look very pleasant. With a sigh, Elain pulled on a plain black skirt, a blue and yellow top and her black shoes. She did manage to find a yellow ribbon as she was rummaging through her trunk for clothes and figured that would have to do as threaded it through her braid.
Elaine exited the common room and raced to the Great Hall, she grabbed a couple of slices of toast and headed down the hill at a brisk walk towards the Quidditch Pitch. As Elaine reached the Quidditch Pitch she slowed down a bit to take in the view it was marvellous. Elaine hoped she could one day make the team and save up for a decent broom.
Elaine reached the pitch and started to ascend to the top of one of the bleachers. When she reached the top, she saw some other students. Elaine didn’t recognise them, but that wasn’t surprising she had only just started at Hogwarts and had been wrapping her head around everything else that happened within the classrooms and the castle itself. She had been caught out by the moving staircase a couple of times since starting at Hogwarts. Considering, this was an “unofficial” match she imagined the students were either Quidditch fans or were offering some sort of moral support to the team. Elaine saw three students, two who appeared to be Hufflepuffs and the third a Gryffindor. As she approached the students, she could hear voices, but couldn’t make out the words. “Excuse me, sorry to interrupt but could I sit with you?” Elaine asked first looking to the two girls and then the boy. Elaine thought they appeared to be friendly and she hoped her impression was right, she really wanted to make some friends especially if they enjoyed Quidditch as well.
