Amy had absolutely no idea what she was reading. Nothing made sense to her at all and as she skimmed over another line of gibberish she sat back in her chair slamming her book closed and crossing her arms. The librarian looked up from her small work desk and hushed her for the noise, to which Amy stuck her tongue out and rolled her eyes. At the muggle schools the library of course had the rule to be quiet but none of the children actually listened. While Hogwarts library was so quiet you could hear a pen drop, the Muggle school would have laughter and hushed whispers and the sounds of the teacher grumbling as he was hit in the head with a ball of paper for the fifth time.

Her eyes skimmed over the children, first years and up who entered and exited the library without so much as a "hello". This really was the quiet place and it was driving Amy absolutely mad. She closed her eyes and let her imagination run wild. She was a Princess. A vampire. A Pirate. Multiple things and each time she thought about something a hushed giggle came to her lips.

Opening up her notebook she grabbed a pencil and began to draw absentmindedly. The eyes and ears barely recognizable on the paper until she realized she was drawing a bear. She let her hand work by itself and soon she had drawn the bear, the trees, the snow, a full moon and even two little cubs. It was beautiful, and she grabbed her colored pencils to begin coloring her scenery, not even hearing approaching footsteps.

Lycan made his way towards the library. It wasn't yet time for him to begin any classes, and he wanted to know as much as he could about the Mythical Creatures before he encountered them and learned about them. He went into the library and was beginning to make his way towards that section, but he paused when his eyes landed on a Slytherin girl with sandy-blonde hair, and green eyes. He smiled, realizing that it was his friend, Amy. They hadn't really talked at all since the train ride, a mistake he was ready to remedy right now. He wanted to make sure she was doing alright and things were going well for her so far.
The library was as silent as a grave, but Lycan wasn't about to lose the opportunity to talk with a friend, and catch up with her. Especially since he hadn't really seen for a few days. He walked over to her, stealing a peek over her shoulder to see what had her so laser focused. It was a gorgeous scenic drawing with animals in it and he smiled again. He moved around her and took a seat beside her. "I didn't know you could draw, buddy." he whispered as silently as possible. He turned his gaze from the picture to her and smiled. "Heyo, Amy. Nice to see you again. Has anyone told you you're insanely gifted when it comes to art? I am impressed." He said once more as silently as possible.

By now Amy was so focused on her drawing that she had no idea her friend had came to stand behind her. Nor did she know he was gazing over her shoulder, so when he spoke she jolted a bit, snapping her colored pencil tip and grunting in irritation. She was about to yell at whoever it was, but when he sat down a huge smile made it's way to her face. "I didn't know you could draw, buddy." he whispered as silently as possible.

Lycan said and Amy was instantly bubbling with happiness. The two hadn't spoken really at all since the sorting had happened, and she was beginning to wonder if he was replacing her. Seeing him now was almost overwhelming and she listened to him speak once more. "Heyo, Amy. Nice to see you again. Has anyone told you you're insanely gifted when it comes to art? I am impressed."

Forgetting where they were, Amy wrapped her arms tightly around the boy next to her and squeezed him. She spoke a bit too loudly saying "Lycan ! I didn't expect to see you here! Where were you ? You have some ex-" She was cut off by the librarian letting out a hiss sounding 'shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" and she stuck her tongue out once again before saying more quietly.

"What I was saying before grandma over there interrupted me, you have some explaining to do I missed you. Are they nice? Did you even miss me? You're lucky I didn't learn any spells yet or I'd turn you into a frog for ignoring me handkerchief boy"

Lycan arched a brow, chuckling quietly when Amy jokted at the sound of his voice. She even ended up breaking her pencil tip and making an annoyed grunt causing him to chuckle more. He sat next to her and saw the smile take over her features. He was happy to see her anyways, but her smile was contagious, and so Lycan smiled back at her. He tried talking to her, but she almost seemed a little frozen in place and he tilted his head.
He began to ask her, "Amy... Are you alr-" but he was cut off as she very suddenly wrapped her arms around him, giving him a tight and squeezing hug. He was a little surprised at the strong reaction at first, but he smiled and hugged her tightly as well. His friend then a little too loudly began to say, "Lycan ! I didn't expect to see you here! Where were you ? You have some ex-" but she too was cut off by the harsh shh of the librarian. Amy's response was sticking her tongue out and Lycan couldn't help but laugh, earning himself a harsh glare from the Librarian. Of course he had to cover his mouth to stifle the laugh as she had just made it worse.
He stopped laughing when he heard his friend speak again, but this time softer. "What I was saying before grandma over there interrupted me, you have some explaining to do I missed you. Are they nice? Did you even miss me? You're lucky I didn't learn any spells yet or I'd turn you into a frog for ignoring me handkerchief boy." she had said. Lycan chuckled quietly again. "They are nice, and we're all trying to get settled and get used to this place before classes begin. he chuckled once more.
He continued, "And of course I've missed you and I haven't been ignoring you. I was looking for you but it's a big place and we always seem to be with new friends. I was kinda bummed when we didn't get placed together, but you seem to be fitting in there quite nicely. I'm glad for that, as well as not being a toad." he laughed quietly. Then arched a dark eyebrow at the "handkerchief boy" mention, pulling another one out and waving it at her. "Speaking of... I brought one just in case you begin to spring a leak of tears of joy. he teased and he grinned at her. "I'm really happy to see you doing better than the train ride, Amy." he smiled and he hugged her again.

Settling down, Amy shoved her friend gently and rolled her eyes at his laughing, picking up a black pencil and beginning to shade the parts on her drawing that needed fixed up. She listened intently as he began to speak. ""They are nice, and we're all trying to get settled and get used to this place
She nodded in understanding still keeping her eyes on the drawing. For some reason the area around the moon was not turning out how she liked it, and she huffed in annoyance.

"And of course I've missed you and I haven't been ignoring you. Amy smirked at this, pretending not to believe Lycan but allowed him to continue. I was looking for you but it's a big place and we always seem to be with new friends. I was kinda bummed when we didn't get placed together, but you seem to be fitting in there quite nicely. I'm glad for that, as well as not being a toad." To this Amy took her notebook and swatted him gently on the head, glaring at him playfully and saying

"Are you mocking me?".She watched as he pulled another handkerchief out his pocked and said something about her crying "tears of joy" and she rolled her eyes once more.

"You may be my best friend and all but I wouldn't cry over seeing you you big dork. And yes, I'm a lot better then I was on the train, everyone is pretty nice though a girl from my house doesn't seem to like me very much. I don't know why...." She trailed off before holding up her picture and blowing the pencil dust off of it and handing it to Lycan. "You can have this, I don't like it"

Lycan smiled and chuckled softly again as she gently shoved him. He stayed by her side as she continued to make the drawing her idea of perfection. His elbow resting on the table, as his cheek rested on his palm as he watched her shade more. Although Lycan thought it was plenty perfect as it was, he didn't question it. He began making small talk, answering her questions as she colored.
He tilted his head when he heard her annoyed huff, but he continued with the small talk all the same. He thought he saw her smirk, so he arched a brow, but he wasn't sure. When he mentioned his relief on not being a toad she whacked him with her notebook lightly. He blinked to register what just happened before speaking.
"First you shove me, then you hit me. How abusive and unladylike you are. And what a way to repay kindness." he teased, once again feigning he was hurt, but then he began to chuckle quietly. Feisty was an adorable trait on an already-cute girl, he couldn't deny that. He mentioned tears of joy, and earned an eye roll. He grinned.
"You may be my best friend and all but I wouldn't cry over seeing you you big dork. And yes, I'm a lot better then I was on the train, everyone is pretty nice though a girl from my house doesn't seem to like me very much. I don't know why...." she trailed off and Lycan frowned.
"Wow, classes havent even begun yet, and already people are starting to dislike and stir up drama and bullying... She's probably just jealous that you're cuter or more talented or something petty like that... Or maybe she thinks your shyness is weakness..." he frowned more. "I'm sorry, Amy. But you're truly feisty and you have friends, including me, don't be afraid to ask for help and use that if she gets out of hand." he shrugs. He didn't enjoy the idea of someone disliking and potentially bullying his first friend here.
Amy blew the dust from the drawing and handed it to Lycan. He gently took it from her as she spoke, "You can have this, I don't like it." he blinked and tilted his head again. "Are you crazy? I think it looks amazing and it's beautiful... I can really have it though?" he repeated, and then he smiled brightly at her. "Thank you, Amy. I'll take good care of it I swear." he said and he gave her one more hug, but gentler than the first couple.

Amy really disliked her drawing. As a young girl her mother always expected perfection. Something about how wizards had it harder when they were female, and Amy knew that if her mother were here right now she'd probably request that her daughter redo it. She giggled at the sight of her friend faking like he was hurt and then watched as he frowned. Amy for the life of her could not fathom why anyone would dislike her. She was nice to everyone she came across so how could some think she wasn't friendly enough to be a friend. Then again, she knew she was probably the only Slytherin that was as shy and quiet as she is.

She blushed when Lycan said "Wow, classes havent even begun yet, and already people are starting to dislike and stir up drama and bullying... She's probably just jealous that you're cuter or more talented or something petty like that... Or maybe she thinks your shyness is weakness..." because he'd called her cute, and that was....the first.

He continued talking saying "I'm sorry, Amy. But you're truly feisty and you have friends, including me, don't be afraid to ask for help and use that if she gets out of hand." And she nodded and waited until he was completely finished talking to speak.

"First of all, I am anything but cute. But I've seen the girls who are older then us and they're all pretty, maybe it's something I have to grow into. I won't hesitate to call you guys if I need you, fore I should probably learn to take care of things on my own. As for the picture, yes you can have it. If you give it back I'll probably throw it away, it's imperfect. Look," she stated and grabbed his hand to show him the pictures flaws.

"The moon is not in the correct position. The bear's shadow is too small, one cub is smaller then the other and as for the picture as a whole? Ick"

Lycan smiled when he made her giggle. But then as he began brainstorming all possible issues, he let the c-word escape his lips. He didn't mean to, he was just overly blunt and impulsive sometimes. However, Amy had no response other than a blush and that relieved his tension as blushing usually meant they liked it right? He stayed close to her as they spoke, logic suggesting the closer they were the quieter they could speak. When he finished speaking, it was her turn. What came out of her mouth, he wasn't expecting in the slightest.
"First of all, I am anything but cute. But I've seen the girls who are older then us and they're all pretty, maybe it's something I have to grow into. She grabbed his hand and he looked at the picture with her as she finished speaking, "The moon is not in the correct position. The bear's shadow is too small, one cub is smaller then the other and as for the picture as a whole? Ick." She said, and Lycan allowed her and he listened to her but he frowned once more, and bit his lip thinking of his response.
"You know... My dad always said your worst enemy and your harshest critic was yourself. Not sure I really got it till now. You look at this and you see imperfection and failure? But when I look at it... I see a perfect masterpiece, made by the hard work and effort of someone who gave it their all. Sometimes that humility is what separates the greats from the amateurs. And to me you're a great, at just eleven." he said quietly and he shrugged.
He took the picture back, tucking it safely away into a folder. "I am not letting you throw it away... You and this are more than what you think, Amy. I think you and this drawing are great now, 7 years from now I bet you'll be legendary, and from there celestial. You were picking it apart because this was too small and that wasn't in the perfect position, and blah blah blah. But if you love art, I'm sure you have heard of Picasso... Need I say more?" Lycan asked tilting his head. He hoped all of that lifted her spirits but he was unsure still.

Amy's hair fell over her face but she refused to move it, as it was just a few strands; and turned to look at her friend. She saw him frowning and biting his lip, and Amy scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion. He sure did that a lot. It seemed to be a nervous quirk of his. When she was nervous her leg would bounce up and down rapidly, and she was extremely nervous if both legs were bouncing. But for Lycan, his quirk seemed to be biting his lip. She turned back to look at the drawing and frowned at it, though his next words had her quickly pulling her head up and looking towards him.

And to me you're a great, at just eleven." He said and she felt a large smiling spreading on her face. It was;t often someone called her "great". Smart, kind or silly, maybe, but great? That was really sweet and felt really good especially coming from a friend. She beamed.

"Are you sure you're not just saying that?" she asked playfully and listened to his next words.

"I am not letting you throw it away... You and this are more than what you think, Amy. Lycan said and she giggled, shaking her head. He'd tried changing her mind but one who was subject of approval and disapproval based on perfection could not so easily be changed. She looked at him and decided to change the subject.

"Hey Ly, do you think homework is gonna be hard? I mean, I've been reading up on our books and it seems like I instinctively know what to do. Is that because we're pure bloods? I want to be a prefect one day you know, and bad grades just won't work"

As Lycan complimented her work, he noticed how huge her smile became and he smiled back. She asked, "Are you sure you're not just saying that?" He blinked and he nodded. "I suck at lying so I don't really try." he said with a shrug. Then continued on with trying to explain to her that it wasn't bad at all, but all she did was giggle and he tilted his head. She didn't reply to any of what he said, in fact, she was quick to change the subject. Lycan looked into her eyes as she looked at him, waiting and listening as she spoke.
"Hey Ly, do you think homework is gonna be hard? I mean, I've been reading up on our books and it seems like I instinctively know what to do. Is that because we're pure bloods? I want to be a prefect one day you know, and bad grades just won't work." She said, and Lycan couldn't help but smile.
"I dont think it'll be any more challenging than regular school. But if we do find ourselves struggling we could study together. We'd see each other more often that way. I'm also sure being pure blooded helps things go a little smoother if it just comes natural, but I don't know for a fact. And as someone aiming to be a prefect, behaving, smooth and study groups could be a good first step." he said, winking at her.
"I don't know about being a prefect, but I really want to join the Quidditch team. My dad and I played it a lot. It was almost as good as studying nature. I hope you get it, I'll be silently cheering you on." Lycan added with a smile.
