After Classes
After stuffing what remained of his to-do homework into his satchel, Piérre found himself trotting down the hallway, withdrawing the piece of parchment that Miss Lian had given to him about the branches of transfiguration. Of course, he had homework from her tonight, and he planned on doing her assignment first with the assistance of a previous student's homework. It never crossed Pierre's mind to copy or plagiarize it for future assignments, for even though he had few codes of honor, he respected the integrity of Hogwarts' school system to keep sacred the previous work of a student.
Pushing open the doors which barred the way to the library, Piérre was shocked by the pleasantly delightful scent of must and mildew in the library, along with the ancient scents of old parchment and worn leather. It reminded him of public libraries that he and Romeo would visit. Romeo would make beelines right for historical sections and other intriguing and high Lexus ratings. Piérre on the other hand, would head for the Young Adult or Children's books, even when he was about the age he was now, eleven, and attending Hogwarts, the school of magic and intrigue.
As he wandered further into the warmly lit library, Piérre looked at the towers of shelves which seemed to scrape the ceiling. It was magnificent and awe-inspiring at once, and Piérre couldn't help but mile all the wider as he passed colorful bindings and yellowed parchments crammed into every nook and cranny that was possible. A similarly yellowed paper was held in the young boy's hand, tied with red ribbon and held close to Pierre's chest, so that he wouldn't lose it and make Miss Lian smite him as she threatened all students in her class that day.
Of course, Piérre knew that she was joking and that she was being playful. Perhaps it was a thing that fellow funnymen shared in common. An ability to pick out the truth in what another was saying, even if the words spoken obviously had an implication that could be obvious to even the most uncultured individual. He had spoken to Miss Lian after class about a question on his assignment that he had proudly gotten an 'O' on, and he had been curious about the argument that he had presented. Miss Lian had graciously offered to let the intrepid boy take an old student's assignment to compare and contrast his answers, on the condition that he was not to ruin or damage it in any way and to return it when he was quite finished with it.
Simple enough terms for Piérre, and he traipsed through the ocean of shelves and mazes of books and signs until he found a table with other students. Smiling assuringly as he always did, he quietly convinced students to move aside for him to take a place at their table. He had grabbed a small volume on Transfiguration and Untransfiguration, and cracked it open in front of him, fingering through pages until he found a page and began to study, unrolling the parchment that Miss Lian had given to him as he did so.
He was quite a sight in the shadowy library, surrounded by mostly uniformed students in black outfits and house ties. Piérre, per his wild spirit, had vouched for Hufflepuff on that particular day, and was currently wearing a black and yellow harlequined sweater to keep out the cold, a pair of black slacks, and a black belt with a rather large silver buckle. His hair was just as crazy as it always was, and he was humming under his breath, a tuneless melody that his own mind cad concocted in the moment as his foot tapped beneath the table in an allegro rhythm to keep his mind occupied as he read the text.
Perhaps he was an annoyance to some students, but Piérre was so engrossed in the book and comparing his homework, that he wouldn't notice anyone's displeasure unless they came directly to him and voiced their displeasure.

There was nothing worse than attempting to study in the library when someone was making noise and it would have been an understatement to say Catriona was displeased. The boy was humming, the notes crashing against her ears in a way that was both an annoyance and an unwelcome distraction. And the foot tapping only made it ten times worse. But Catriona wasn't the type to go storming up to strangers in the library. At least not immediately. No, she figured she'd wait it out instead. He had to stop at one point, right?Interacting with @Piérre Marchonné

Wrong.
He kept humming and his foot kept tapping and after a while all Catriona could hear was the infernal noise filling up her mind and pushing out any information she was trying to memorize. This would not do at all. She had to say something, for the good of the other people in the library as well as for her own sanity.
Catriona got to her feet, pushing in her chair and closing the book she'd been reading. She then crossed over to where the boy sat. He stuck out amongst the neatly uniformed students around him, with his wild hair and eccentric outfit. Catriona couldn't help but respect him a little for it. It was hard to get up the courage to do something like that, at least for someone like her. She'd always preferred to melt into the shadows.
She tapped he boy on the shoulder lightly. "Could you stop humming, please?" she said, having calmed down a little. "It's rather distracting for me." She couldn't resist adding, "it is for silent studying after all."

Piérre had just finished completing the pros and cons of his and the old student's homework. He found the errors in both of their works, and he gave out a sigh of excitement as he paged through the Transfiguration book once again. Well, cross one more thing off the list, he was really starting to understand the branches of Transfiguration better. It would certainly help him in the other realms of Charms and perhaps Dark Arts, which he was rather struggling in for the moment.@Catriona Staverly
Just as he was finishing a flourish of his hum which mimicked the flourish of his quill pen, there was a soft tap on his shoulder, and with a little start, for Piérre had quite forgotten that he was surrounded by fellow students, he spun suddenly, nearly losing his balance before catching himself on the edge of the table. In hindsight, he supposed that he should have known that he would have been confronted by a person for his slightly out of tune humming.
Who was before him was a girl who looked about his own age, with long, dark brown hair and a round, childish face, rather like his save for his distinguishable cheekbones easily observed by his short, messy hair.
Her words were straightforward, no hesitation, and possibly tipped with a little bit of pent up frustration. In fact, they were so genuine that Piérre couldn't help but flush red in shame as his piqued ears flattened like a scolded puppy. It was all too often that the young boy got embarrassed, especially when dealing with adults which exuded superiority, and students were unfortunately, no different. When he got over his near heart attack that he had endured from the sudden fright, he smiled up at the girl. "Oh, hello! You almost gave me a heart attack!" He gave a small chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck before continuing. Several students had their eyes on him, and many of them either rolled their eyes or began whispering to their compatriots, especially the ones who were familiar with the card's usual antics."Could you stop humming, please? It's rather distracting for me. It is for silent studying after all."
Unaware of the stares, Piérre continued no worse for wear. "Oh, I'm sorry about the humming. I get distracted too easily and I need something to keep my mind occupied. Forgot my fidget cube today..." He rubbed the tips of his left hand together to signify something being rolled between them. "Sure, I'll quiet down... Hey!" Piérre suddenly thought of something. "Would you happen to know much about Defense Against the Dark Arts theory? I'm not doing to hot in that class..."
Piérre pulled out his homework from both of the classes he had had homework graded from so far with a slight, uncertain smile. One of them was a 'P' and the other a rather average 'E'. Compared to the 'E' and 'O's of other classes, it was all too evident that that class was his worst by far. Maybe she could help him and maybe she could be a friend, even if they had gotten off on the wrong foot.

RPing as Catriona Staverly | text color #674da8Catriona was momentarily taken aback by the boy's immediate friendliness. She'd been expecting a lot more annoyance (or even anger) at her words, but here he was, grinning up at her like nothing had even happened. He did look a bit sheepish, but his smile persisted nonetheless. Catriona's eyes narrowed a little. Was there some ulterior motive here? He really wouldn't stand to gain anything from the encounter, so perhaps not. Maybe he was just a friendly person... You didn't really find many of those at Hogwarts. Sometimes it felt like Hogwarts was a den of traps. Catriona never knew where to step.
She shook away her thoughts, smiling at the boy. "It's alright. I get a bit antsy after a while too." At his next comment, Catriona grinned. "I'm not the best duelist, but I'm great at theory." She slid into the seat next to him. "I'm Catriona."
She turned, feeling eyes on her back. Several students were watching them, presumably due to the disturbance she'd caused. One of them, not noticing her gaze, gestured at the boy next to her and whispered to the girl next to him, a sneer apparent on his lips. Catriona glared at him, tamping down the urge to walk over and give him a piece of her mind. They looked away, though, and she decided it wasn't worth it.
Turning back towards the boy, she smiled again. "What do you need help with?"

@Catriona Staverly
"Hi Catriona! I'm Piérre, Piérre Marchonné! Nice to meet you." Piérre chirped. Even though she had seemed a little hostile at first, Piérre was sure that it was mostly because he had been causing a small disturbance earlier. Now that that was over, he was sure that things were only going to go up from there. "Could I call you? I know that it's a bit petty, but I think that it's an awesome nickname!" Piérre shrugged. "Better than Pie or Pepe, or Rere or something... I never have good luck with names." He recalled some of his earliest pet names, given to him mostly by bullies in his Muggle school, which was why many if not all of them sounded a little more than mocking. Personally, he preferred the initials of his name, which incidentally correlated to the division of the clock 'PM,' which was how he signed off many if not all of his letters.
Whenmentioned something about dueling, Piérre laughed uncertainly, averting his eyes for a second before responding. "Yeah... haven't tried dueling either... pretty sure I would get my butt handed to me, though. Can't take many hits." Truth be told, Piérre really did want to duel, but he was worried about the consequences of his little trysts. True, he had been beaten up in the past by muggle bullies and he was always able to bounce back from their physical punishments, but he wasn't exactly sure of what would happen if he was subject to magical beatings. As it was, Piérre was a little more than shy to attempt stepping into a magical ring where all bets would be off.
"Fortunately," He said, wrapping his talk back to the present, "I'm not really at the point of dueling, but I seem to be having trouble with the theory and concept of Defending against Dark Arts itself. Like, what is the point of defending against the evil arts if there's nothing that really stands a chance of threatening us? Sure, there are beasts and beings, but since Voldemort, there haven't been any dangerous persons, right?"
Piérre picked up his quill and began to rub its feather against his lips, closing his eyes in thought."And then there's the definition and etymology of spells... not to mention the Ministry classifications of beings and creatures... Just a lot to take in, you know?" He opened his eyes, looking atas his brows creased in thought.
