It had taken a lot of bargaining with herself to make Mira step through the double wooden doors of the library. She had not managed to avoid it for long and this was definitely not her first of many visits. Yet, she was in dire need of some Transfiguration and History of Magic rehearsal. Thus, she walked into the quietude of the library, her copy of A History of Magic and her Transfiguration notes stacked in her bag. Mira could have stayed in the Gryffindor common room, but she knew she would only be distracted by everything that was happening around her and so she settled down at one of the many tables in the middle of the library. One would expect Mira to enjoy the library, seeing as she very much enjoyed to write herself. However, this was not the kind of literature that Mira preferred. She enjoyed short stories, poetry, exhilarating legends of heroes and inspiring tales of countless acts of bravery. All these things were not wat she came to the library for.

So, Mira got to work, flipping through the pages and trying to first finish her History of Magic essay, which she believed would be easiest to finish. She had anticipated this correctly and was finished within the hour, leaving her in a slightly better mood than what she had entered the library in. Seeing as she was finished so quickly, she decided that it would probably be better to immediately start on her Transfiguration work and so bracingly, she got her notes from her bag and began reading. Mira was in no way extremely smart, but she wasn’t stupid either. She was starting to doubt this fact, however, because as she stared at her notes, they seemed to blur more and more. So much so, that eventually, Mira slammed her head down on top of her notes, which did not soften the impact on the wooden table in the slightest. Now, she was left with notes she couldn’t understand for the life of her, quite a few students who were giving her nasty looks for the noise she just caused and a throbbing forehead. Great.

After a few more minutes of more staring to no avail, she got up, leaving her stuff at the table and decided to wander the library. Maybe she would find a book in here that she enjoyed and besides, she had probably not sat in one place for more than an hour since she had learned to walk. As she wandered to the left side of the library she looked longingly at the marvelous view of the grounds and the Great Lake. Absent-mindedly, she scanned the shelves for any title that peeked her interest and soon found something she could entertain herself with. A thick, deep-blue book that was embroidered with silver lines stood out from the dusty books surrounding it. When she picked it up to read the cover she noticed the title: 'Reading the stars, a visual guide to Astronomy'. Her hand went up to the star pendant on her necklace and with a smile she thought of her father, from whom she had learned so much about the universe above her. She took the heavy book with her back to where she was sitting and opened it on the first page, her notes and schoolwork long forgotten as she engrossed herself with the many facts on stars, planets and constellations.

Wren like to come to the library, when she had a free period. She loved being surrounded by bok upon book, upon books. Wren loved the feeling when she was reading. It was like you could become a different person in a different universe and escape the troubles this world had to offer.

She came to the library today though, to do her homework. Even though she tended to get side tracked with looking at books, she had one purpose today. She told herself she would not go up to the books, and look at them. She needed to finished the long overdue astronomy homework, and soon otherwise she would be really behind in this class. She didn't really like astronomy, for the simple fact that it was so easy but since it was so easy she never felt like doing the homework. There was a girl sitting at a table, and what it looked like was doing homework.

She took a deep breathe and walked up to the girl wanting not to interrupt her, but to sit down by her. Even though she did not want to interrupt the girl, she had to. She wanted to know if the girl needed any help. She wasn't very good at this stuff but she could try to understand and help out.

"Hey, I'm Wren. I was wondering if you needed any help with that."

Mira had been hungrily flipping the pages of the astronomy book for a while now, absorbing the pictures, facts and mysteries of the universe like she was severely starved. She knew she had to get back to her homework, otherwise, she would surely get a detention or points would be deducted from Gryffindor. She wanted neither of those things to happen, but she had always been an excellent procrastinator and her homework was simply not nearly as interesting as the book in front of her. Besides, she was already extremely proud of herself for actually having done something productive in the library. She deserved a break.
In fact, she was so captivated by the book that she hadn’t noticed a girl approaching her. So, when the girl spoke up, she snapped back into reality with a startle. ”Hey, I’m Wren. I was wondering if you needed any help with that,” the girl asked her. Mira looked up, surprise evident on her face. She recognized the girl, seeing as they were both Gryffindor first-years, but she had never spoken to her before.
”Oh hey, I’m Mira,” she introduced herself, getting over her initial surprise of being so suddenly interrupted, and then looked at the book and notes in front of her. With a slight laugh she pointed at the astronomy book, which was currently opened on a very lengthy and explicit description of the La Caille family of constellations. There were many things stated that Mira still didn’t understand, the wording was difficult and the book was, admittedly, beyond the abilities of first-years. Still, Mira liked to look at the pictures and the snippets of information that she did understand she tried very hard to edge into her memory. ”Well, astronomy I found fun and easy,” she explained. Then, Mira went to pick up the Transfiguration notes that had been discarded to her right, forgotten. ”This,” she began, holding up the notes so that Wren could see it was her Transfiguration homework, ”I can’t understand for the life of me. So I guess if you’re any good at it, I could use some help,” she admitted, obviously grateful. Still, she didn’t want to receive the girl’s help without doing anything in return and so she quickly added: ”Maybe I can help you with something else in return! It could be anything.” A small grin found it’s way on Mira’s face. She was happy for the kind help she had been offered.

“Well, I mean, I’m not the best at it, but I could read it and try to help you understand.”

Wren was new to all these subjects and couldn’t understand everything. She was a pretty good reader for the most part, she could understand things pretty well. Though muggle studies (if they had it for 1st years) would be her best subject, she was a pretty good student in general. She was trying to keep Es and Os but it got hard sometimes. For the most part she was succeeding, which was tickling to her parents.

“Maybe, I can help you with something else in return! It could be anything.”
Yes! That would be great! I um, might need help with my Defense against the Dark Arts homework, I mean, only if you want to."

Wren didn’t want to make anyone do anything they didn’t want to do. She had, that happen to her when she was younger. Her parents had forced her to go up to the higher classes, where she had no chance of success being a seven-year-old, and they had expected her to exel, which she couldn’t. So, she had decided at a young age she would not be like them.
