The incident with gem had been.. interesting to say the least. She didn't know what came over her, screaming at him like that. It was new, that was sure. Whatever is was, it seemed to have faded now. Right now all that was going through her mind is that she forgot to check out that stupid library book she meant to grab for Charms. Oh well, what harm could it do? They left anyway, right? She wouldn't have to run into them for a second time, which was all she cared about.
As Brielle walked to the Library, her hands stayed by her sides neatly, and her robes had been intricatley folded. Entering gave her a whiff of fresh air, the old scent of dusty novels and fictional dreams consuming her. She walked slowly over to the table she had recently been sitting at before her outburst and hugged the book tightly. She had been surprised it was still there, causing her to wonder where the little first year helpers were. Paying hardly any mind to it though, she nodded to herself and checked out the book, giving the old librarian a warm smile as she waved goodbye.
The walk out the door, though, was not such a warm surprise. Everything she dreaded had been standing right there.
Gem's study buddy.

Rafa didn’t really plan on leaving his books behind. It was one of those instances where things just kind of happen all in a jumble. Things like that tended to happen when Rafa got angry – there were hardly an instance in which he could correctly recall a chain of events occurring during a fit of anger. In this case, Rafa needed to make sure Gem was okay – his friend had been quite upset and all, over this girl in the library. It really did make Rafa angry to see him that way, all dejected and hurt. It just didn’t seem fair, that someone could push him around like that.
But, upon leaving the abandoned toilets – his robes were a bit dusty – he remembered that he had forgotten to actually study his Transfigurations Book. This upset him quite a bit, given that he was going to have a test tomorrow, and had absolutely zero knowledge in the subject. It then occurred to him that he probably needed to study tonight, if he had any hope of passing Lian’s class, which in turn led him to remember the whereabouts of his books. The library.
He hadn’t wanted to go back. The librarian was already pretty upset with him, and he really wasn’t in the mood to run into the bird that upset Gem. He had reasoned that she wouldn’t be there – it had been quite a while since he had pushed her away from Gem. It took a few minutes of inward turmoil, but in the end, he finally convinced himself that it would be safe, and there would be no exchanges.
Unfortunately, he was wrong.
Upon entering the library, the must of the old room hit him gently, sort of like a hug does. Despite the multiple skirmishes and enemies he had made in this room, it still had never lost its charm. The room was pretty quiet, little study groups taking up the tables. His eyes quickly found his books from the doorway, and let out a little smile. It seemed as if the books hadn’t been taken, which was good – his pockets had been rather barren lately.
Though, before he could go and get his books, he stopped himself. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a familiar pretty face – one he had seen not too long ago. His heart rate sped up a bit, his teeth clenched just slightly. It was the Slytherin girl from earlier – Brianna, or whatever her name was. It seemed as if she had made him out from where she was standing, because her eyes met his. His fingers twitched slightly, so he gripped his wand, his fingers curling around the handle rather tightly. He felt as if he should tell her something – just seeing her made him quite angry – but he withheld any terribly rude comments. “What are you doing here?” he said instead, his voice low and unfriendly. “Thought you’d be chatting it up with your friends right about now.”

What was he doing here? Shouldn't he have been kissing up to Gem by now? Brielle made a face of annoyance at the boy and tried to proceed on her way, only to be stopped by the sight of himself grabbing his wand. There was no bloody way this boy was going to cast spell at her right here in the Library, was there? His expression seemed fearless, though, like he wasn't afraid of getting in trouble.
"Can't a girl just be in the Library?" She asked with a sneer, her tone not filled with anger, but mere distaste. He didn't scare her, the way he looked at her like that. Maybe he was trying to be intimidating, who knows? Whatever it was, it didn't seem to work on her. She replied back to his glare with a snarky smile, hoping some sort of Veela passed through.
"For your information, I had been grabbing my stuff. My friends are waiting for me out there." She said, pointing out to the exit of the Library. It had been a lie, a lie just to make herself seem less desperate. There was no one out there, and it would stay that way.

"Can't a girl just be in the Library?"
Well, sure. Anyone can be in the library, Rafa reasoned. But it did seem a bit strange, running into her at the exact same time, only hours after their little… dispute, they’d call it. He had really tried to put it out of his mind, but now, seeing her here, it made the recent events all too real. He wasn’t at all proud of pushing her or anything. He didn’t mess with girls all that much. It was his code, and he’d really screwed it up – even if she just slightly deserved it. He had gotten too angry. And too damn protective.
[Those feelings were still rather hard to sort through, but he’d put those off for now.]
He knew that, while the whole event wasn’t his fault, he did play a pretty significant part in stirring things up. He should have known better. Keeping his head down had never been his strong suit, though. And now, fate was really coming back to bite him. His weak little conscious was telling him to apologize or something - and, for a second, he almost did. But then, his ego didn’t seem to be too onboard with that idea. He brushed the idea off – maybe he’d address it later.
It was then he noticed a snarky sort of look on the girl’s face. "For your information,” she told him confidently, “I had been grabbing my stuff. My friends are waiting for me out there." Her finger gracefully pointed to the door to solidify her pint. Now, that was a right lie, if Rafa ever heard one. He had grown up around scammers and fighters – being able to read people was a means of survival. And Rafa could read her like a book –well, sort of. She wasn’t as shallow as he had first thought. The deep people often stumped him.
And he wanted to be mad at her. Really, he did. But there was something appealing about her, in a strange sort of way. He had felt the feeling before, during their first little dispute. It was uncomfortable, how her beauty kind of captured his senses. He had never had very good focus, but this was different. His grip on his wand loosened, as well as his features – only slightly. He wasn’t really angry now. More cautious, if anything – he knew that there was an answer to this feeling. He knew it. It was on the tip of his tongue –
“Yeah, I suppose,” he answered her first question, his voice still a little reluctant. Strangely enough, he decided to completely ignore her last comment – small acts of kindness, and all. It was funny, because he could remember just moments ago, flames licking at the edges of his vision, his teeth grinding, his wand slightly drawn. Now, he probably wouldn’t do any of those things for a million bucks. She had really gotten to his head now. He wasn’t really thinking - the words kind of slipped out. “You’re part Veela,” he said, looking her straight in the eye. He wore a serious sort of look, with just an air of curiosity – that was the term on the tip of his tongue. She definitely looked the part – her perfect sort of features, her deep eyes, her crystal-clear skin. The evidence was now all too obvious – now, he just needed clearance.

Brielle grinned when Rafael proposed she was part-Veela, unsure whether to confirm it or just lead him on. She supposed it would be funny to act like she wasn't, as it would fill him with question and concern as to why he was attracted to her. Brielle shrugged and threw her hands up in the air, batting her perfect eyelashes innocently.
Turning into a brat was not particularly ideal for Brielle and her first year at Hogwarts, though she figured it wouldn't do much harm. Maybe she'd hurt a few feelings, who cares? She could only be a teenager once, so why not cause a little mischief?
"I don't know, am I? Just because I'm pretty doesn't mean I'm a weird half-breed." She replied with a laugh, twirling her hair with her finger as she glanced down at her books. God, how cliche she was acting. Maybe this is why Gem and her didn't work- maybe she was too stuck up for him.
Brielle shook her head lightly, her silky hair swishing like it was under water. She pushed away the thoughts of her past relationship and cut her eyes in prevention of looking vulnerable. The last thing she wanted was to look like a priss in front of this boy, how embarrassing that would be.

Brielle seemed to think his proposition was funny. She threw her hands up into a shrug, batting her eyelashes in a very seductive way. God, she was attractive. "I don't know, am I?” she said with a laugh, a bit arrogantly in Rafa’s opinion. “Just because I'm pretty doesn't mean I'm a weird half-breed."
Rafa inwardly shook his head. What is with this girl and lies? His mind may have been foggy, but he knew full well the truth. And he was getting a bit aggravated with the whole situation, if he were completely honest. Yeah, she was a half-veela. He was sure a blind man could have seen it – though he saved himself the grief of imagining that scenario, focusing on the scene at-hand. He couldn’t seem to look away, either - she was twirling her hair all seductively, looking at her books like she was an innocent schoolgirl. Hardly. He bit his lip, trying to control his train of thought – it was currently veering straight off the tracks. He absently noticed the look on her face - she had a strange look in her eye, one that was a bit hard to read. It soon enough disappeared, though, as she shook her head, her hair falling around her features beautifully.
Rafa didn’t think too much of it. He was a little lost, drowning in his thoughts. It kind of peeved Rafa that this girl was taking advantage of him and his masculinity.. She obviously knew she was pretty, and all. He really hated people like that, all stuck-up and bratty. A real broad, she is. In fact, Brielle reminded him a lot of his older cousins, Vanessa and Ally – they were incredibly beautiful, but they only ever used their beauty for their own means. The thought made him physically ill. No, I won’t stand for this, he thought. If she wants to mess with me, then I’ll mess with her right back.
Now Rafa prided himself on many things, but one of his more hidden talents was acting. It had been a means of survival back in his native country – if you showed your cards, you were sure to lose. Looking at the girl, he untensed his shoulders, giving her an easy sort of look. “Okay, fine. I believe you,” he told her easily, crossing his arms and sending her a firm but playful look. “Just, you seem to be pretty confident in your face, is all.”
