Hogwarts truly was something. Zahid had heard stories about the school during his time in Europe but they did not do it justice. He'd set foot in several magical spaces over the years but he had to admit that Hogwarts was just more. The magic imbued in the school was almost palpable, it felt alive.

Zahid had been at the school for a couple of days now and he had spent the time trying to get settled in, unpacking his things and organizing his office. Now that he should be at least be prepared for his first day or two of teaching at the school (starting his tenure during the school year was a tad of a hassle) he'd decided that it was time to finally go visit the school's library.

It was almost criminal that it had taken him so long to step into these hallowed halls. It was time. If he was honest with himself if it had not been for duty, the library would have been his very first trip inside Hogwarts, right after dropping his things in his living quarters. But no, he’d had to prepare the basics for his classes first.

And so it was Sunday by the time he’d got around to it. He had been in his office, finalizing his plans for the first week or two (there was no point in planning further before actually meeting his students and teaching a few lessons. While he was no novice to teaching, he hadn’t taught at a school before and he knew he needed to get used to the system before making any more detailed lesson plans.) and when he was done, he stacked his papers on one side of his desk, emptied his tea and left his office on the first floor to make his way to the staircase and down to the ground floor where the library was located.

Coming to a halt in front of the wooden double doors Zahid took a deep breath. He might not show it outward but he was so excited he was almost nervous. A slight anticipatory smile curled around his lips as he took a step forward and reached out with both hands to push the doors open. They moved near soundlessly but he hardly paid them any attention. He was far too busy with drinking in the sight of the library that spread out in front of him.

The library truly looked magnificent. He couldn’t wait to spend what would probably be a big chunk of his free time in its depths. Zahid in a library was not unlike a small child in a candy store if less obvious in his excitement. His steps were almost reverent as he properly entered the room. There were shelves upon shelves greeting his vision. There were also work spaces – tables – but he was less interested in those.

Walking down the corridor in the midst of the library, Zahid cast his gaze over the shelves that lined it to get a first impression of what they housed. Randomly selecting a shelf, Zahid turned to his left to walk down the row, trailing his fingers over the spines of the books that he passed. That was the moment he felt he had truly arrived in his new home. Hogwarts, his living quarters… they’d been a place to stay for the next several years, yes, but this... seeing all these books (quite literally) at his fingertips that is what felt like coming home.
