Can I Borrow That?
C’mon, it’s gotta be here.
Bobby Fanai chewed the inside of her cheek, frustrated as she squatted in front of a shelf of books, her knees close to her ears as she balanced on the balls of her feet. The tips of her olive fingers trailed along the lowest row of books, her dirty fingernails lightly scratching the hardcovers of the tombs as she went. Reaching the end of the row, Bobby groaned, tipping back and landing roughly on her bum with a soft thump.
The first-year Lion stretched her sore legs, her muscles relaxing from the uncomfortable position they had maintained. Huffing a lock of dark hair from her face, Bobby rested her chin on her left hand, idly glancing down the aisle as she pondered her next course of action.
I should just go ask Jo or Tolly.
Bobby sighed, she’d prefer to find the book herself, wanting to become self-reliant in the Library since she spent so much time here. She spared the low shelf one more glance before opening her mouth to call one of the Librarian Assistants to her.
Before she could, she spotted her prize. Her mouth closed with a small pop, and her dark eyes narrowed in on the desired book. Unfortunately, it was in the hands of another student. Brows furrowing, she debated what to do. Normally, she'd just leave the person be and come back the next day to get it. She still was a little apprehensive on talking to other students, it just wasn't the same as being with her family.
She needed to see that book. The tomb contained a nugget of information she couldn't quite remember from her lessons with her Mother at home. Without that information, it would bother her for the rest of the day and into the night.
I just need to borrow it for like two seconds, they shouldn’t mind.
Nodding to herself, Bobby used one arm to flip over from her position on the wooden floor of the library, quickly getting her legs underneath her as she got to her feet. She lost her balance for a second, a little dizzy from her quick ascent, but corrected her course as she approaches the other Gryffindor sitting at the table.
“Can I borrow that book yer got there? I just need it for a sec.” Bobby asked the boy sitting at the table adjacent to the aisle of books she just left. She eyed the tomb hungrily, her usual neutral demeanor forgotten at the sight of her obsession so close.
