A Researchable Adventure
It was mid-day and Bloom was in the library, struggling with her Transfiguration homework. She had just finished with History of Magic, an essay that she dreaded to write. Her hand was still hurting her, but she knew that she had to keep going.
Bloom had been in the library since early morning, catching up in all that she could before meeting with Felicity Greenwich, a first-year Ravenclaw who she grew close to instantly. For the past two days, she had been down, and now, she felt great. Thanks to Felicity, Bloom was in much better spirits now and she owed a lot to her. If it wasn't for Felicity, she wouldn't even know what to do with herself.
Flipping through the Transfiguration book, she sighed. She was always better at hands-on assignments. These essays were getting to her. Within one week, she had to write a few and her brain was frying from the amount of words she had to think of. Bloom hoped that Felicity would meet her soon to do research.
Knowing that their research was going to be very intense and secretive, Bloom was stationed at a table that was further in the back corner, away from the other studious Ravenclaw's, loud Slytherin's and overachieving Hufflepuff's. In addition, it was the closest to the older books that no one really cared for. Whatever they were searching, it had to be in these old books. It didn't sound like something new. Bloom hoped that Felicity would have the same idea and make her way to the back corner of the library, too.

A Researchable Adventure
That was a great sleep. A wonderful sleep. A fulfilling sleep. A sleep that could never be beat. Felicity was so tired last night, that she just knocked right out, before any of her dorm mates. She could've stayed up later, but she knew she would need the energy for the day ahead. She had slept through breakfast, and she had missed supper the previous night while talking with Reid Kovacs and Bloom Silverton, so now she was running on yesterday's lunch. She hoped it was enough.
The girl's hair was a mess of natural curls, which usually dissipate once she brushes through her hair. But, she didn't brush her hair today. So, her hair was just a curly mess. It didn't matter to her, though - it wasn't like she would see Ryan Brixton - her absolute crush at the moment - until later. She turned the corner and pushed open the door of the library, walking in. She still had sleep in her eyes, she was sure, but she didn't have the time for it right now. She had to meet with Bloom and Reid now - she was probably the last one to arrive - and start their first session of the Adventure Club!
She wasn't sure if Reid was exactly agreed to this concept, but she hoped he would come and at least try it. They haven't exactly brought up to him that this was a club yet. She looked through the rows of books, her arms devoid from any signs of carrying books at all, searching for Bloom, or Reid. Eventually, she did come across the other Ravenclaw girl, near the older section of the Library, where, ironically, they kept all of the older books. That wasn't ironic at all. It was just a bit of sarcasm. She grinned, walking up to the brunette, and peering over her shoulder at what she was reading. She scrunched her nose up with distaste.
"Transfiguration?" She asked, walking around the table to take a seat across from Bloom, and taking off her robe, putting it on the seat next to her so that if Reid did come, he would be forced to sit next to the other girl, thus initiating conversation between the two. At least, that was what Felicity was hoping. "Oh! And has Reid come by yet?" She added on, as well, thinking that she might as well make sure. If he hadn't come yet, then they had plenty of opportunity to gossip in their own time. Adventure Club couldn't start until all of the members were present. That's what she thought, at least.

A Researchable Adventure
The note given to him by another student was weird and it made him a little worried as to why. The last time he went to the library, a student had taken a book from the Restricted Section. It also happened to be a book about the Dark Arts. What if word had gotten out that he was a fit candidate to be the perfect crime lackey?
He didn't know if he could get away with another Restricted Section run. Perhaps she wanted him to simply study with her? That could be the case, he didn't take her for someone of mischief. But then again, he was quite happy with doing things out of the ordinary. Yet as of late, he's been doing so much of the things he shouldn't that it worried him a little.
Perhaps it was better under the watchful visage of his parents. But who was he kidding, the school was starting to grow on him. The students who attended did that even more so. He carried a notebook under his arm, a portable writing utensil, and some questions.
He nearly had a bad bout with the moving stairwell that probably would have landed him in Madam Pomfrey's hands, but thankfully he was able to watch where he had stepped. He wore his school uniform, his house robe exempted for the sake of movement. His shoes were a little scuffed, seemingly from the amount of times he's bumped his toe against rock.
A pair of black heavy rimmed reading glasses bumped against his chest at the pace he was going. His steps were furious against the pavement and he was nearly ready to break a sweat. There was no particular time on the note, which further made him curious. But he was getting there at his own accord, so perhaps he can pose a convincing alibi if he was late.
Once the young wizard entered the library, his footsteps became slower and more calmer. His breathing calmed as he began glancing about the different sections in search of Felicity. How hard was it to find Ravenclaws? He had no trouble finding them earlier, now he couldn't find them at all.
His hair pressed against his forehead, his expression read a little distant and undoubtedly a little tired. He didn't get the subjects as quickly as his other peers and he often struggled to seek help for it. Nights were spent reading up on subjects. His friends were out of the question anyway, Dymphna seemed busy and Bloom was out of the question.
The thought of Bloom often made him guilty, to the point of where it churned his stomach sometimes and made it hard to eat at supper. He'd try to eat at odd hours for supper, often times where he suspected she wasn't there. Even then, he'd be quick about his business and make a quick beeline to the Hufflepuff's commons. He was still forming what to say to her the next time she wants to talk, if she wanted to even talk anymore.
The thoughts in his mind had his mind in such a vice grip that he nearly missed the flash of Felicity in the corner of his eye. He stepped back a few and froze in his tracks like a deer in headlights. Sitting beside her was Bloom? It was a good few seconds, perhaps almost a good twenty before he raised his hand in a half wave towards their direction. The last time he saw Bloom was back at the Owlery and seeing her now prompted a fear response in his brain.
Did she hate him? Did he interrupt something that could cause her to hate him? He thought of all of this as his weighted feet stepped towards both the Ravenclaws. "G-good evening you two." he greeted, nearly mumbling. His body language changed drastically, it would be easy to see. The only seat was beside the girl he rejected a few days ago too, all of this was oddly suspicious. Reid paused after placing his hand on the chair to ask Bloom, "Do you mind if I ... sit here?" It was almost difficult to look at the Ravenclaw girl in the face.

A Researchable Adventure
Focused deep into her work, she did not hear the footsteps of Felicity as she was coming up towards her. Bloom slightly jumped and looked at the blonde Ravenclaw, her smile big. Bloom got up from her seat and gave Felicity a big hug, happy to see her. The last time they spoke was when they first met last night, it was definitely a budding friendship at first sight. When her quick hug was finished, she let go and sat back down at the table.
Pushing her Transfiguration book towards the middle of the desk, she gave a small smirk.
"It's not as bad as you think," she said, noticing her nose scrunching at the thought of the subject. Bloom was about to ask her how her morning was when she noticed Felicity taking off her robe and placing it next to her, leaving the only other seat 'free' next to Bloom. What is she doing..., she questioned, wondering what her tactics were.
Bloom swallowed wrong and consistently coughed the minute Felicity had asked whether or not Reid had arrived.
"Wait, what?" she asked, completely shocked at what was happening. Reid was coming? Bloom's heart began to race. She felt as though she needed to vomit. She hadn't seen Reid in a few days and he was on his way to them.
"I thought we were going to research...," Bloom paused, looked around and spoke quieter, in almost a whisper, "the thing you told me about yesterday. The dreams." Bloom was breathing heavily and quickly. Pull yourself together!
Nonchalantly, Bloom was looking around the library, trying to see the forest green-eyed Hufflepuff that should be making their way. Instantly, she saw him first coming around the corner and Bloom's heart raced faster. She made sure to make no eye contact with him while he was coming up to them; she didn't want him to know that she knew he was there. She then remembered about Ben last night when she met him and decided to try something different. By the time Reid was in ear-shot of them, she focused her attention to Felicity and laughed.
"Felicity, I didn't tell you! Last night, I got a letter from Hogwarts staff saying that I'm Prefect!" she said with excitement. In a way, she wanted to show Reid that she was more than just a girl who got rejected. She was now someone to look up to.
"Here's the best part: I met the other Prefect, his name is Ben Eckenrod. We met last night in our common room, and we are going on a date tomorrow night!!" Bloom had made sure to emphasize just the right points as Reid was getting closer. Bloom felt her stomach churn as she knew some of that was untrue. As if he would know..., she thought to herself.
When Bloom heard his voice, her heart beat at a faster pace. She missed his voice. It was always very relaxing and comfortable to her. As of now, it was a bit of the opposite. He asked to sit next to her and she gave him a small smile, "sure," she said, finally looking at him, but she noticed that he wasn't even looking at her at all. She looked away and stared at her Transfiguration book in the middle of the table. Bloom had just realized Felicity's plan with the robe and she couldn't help but to look at her Ravenclaw friend with her eyebrows perched trying to tell her through her body language: What are you trying to do?!

A Researchable Adventure
The grin that came across Felicity's face as she waved Reid over was wiped quite off her face when she heard Bloom say that she was going on a date with Ben Eckenrode. But it lifted again once she realized that it had faltered, and clapped her hands together once, "That's great, Bloom!" She oozed with fake enthusiasm, and her eyebrows slightly furrowed in confusion. She was super happy for her friend becoming Prefect, of course, but God, this was going to be really awkward now. Especially since she was sorta in the middle.
She turned her gaze to Reid, licking her lips as she nodded at him, "Hi, Reid, thanks for coming! This marks the first meeting of the Adventure Club!" She announced enthusiastically. She didn't give much explanation on the note she gave to her Hufflepuff friend, Edwardo, to give to Reid. She didn't really want to make it easy for him to refuse. Oh, and she might have not mentioned to either of them that the other would be in attendance. She grinned at Bloom's direct look at her, and entwined her fingers together.
"Both of you know what happened, so you both could really help me! I think that there might be a little more to this dream thing than it seems. Perhaps there's something here that can help us." She suggested, then looked over at Bloom, "But we did plan on coming here since last night as well, so there's that, too." She grinned a little bit, then stood up from her seat.
"It's not really studying... More like, researching!" She then started to walk towards the tall bookshelves that were just a little bits away from their table. It was smart of Bloom to station near the older section of the library, there would most likely be information there rather than anywhere else. She skimmed her fingers across the spines of the books - leather, linen, cloth, hardcover, softcover - the variety was as endless as the topics. '100 Polyjuice Potions Gone Wrong', 'The Muggle Story: Batman', 'Tales of Merlin', 'Magic Sciences 1920 Edition', the list went on. She sighed, looking back over at her table.
"Well, come and help me!" She urged them, gesturing with her whole arm for them to come over. Surely, that minute alone was quite enough for them to awkwardly communicate. She turned back to the books. She was sure that she was the shorter of the three, so Reid and Bloom would be able to see more than she could. It kind of irritated her, but she pushed that irritation to the side - this was nothing to get competitive over.
She pulled out one book: 'The History of Divination'. Perhaps it could be in there? She held the book close to her chest with one arm, and then looked back up at the books. She hoped so much that this whole thing wouldn't be as awkward as she anticipated, after Bloom's big announcement about going on a date with Ben Eckenrode. Should she be happy for her? Felicity was really hoping she could mend the bond with Reid and Bloom. She thought that Bloom had said she wanted to be friends with Reid - did she change her mind? Oh, god, Felicity was regretting her decision.
What if she just made things worse?
Did she just make things worse?
Gosh, maybe she wasn't much of a Ravenclaw after all. She thought that it would fix things. And now it was superbly awkward. She glanced back over at the two, pulling out another Divination-related book - 'The Mysteries of Divination'.

A Researchable Adventure
He was glad to hear Bloom talk again, she was his friend of course - well he didn't know if he still was hers. He had grown a little worried about that part as the week progressed, he didn't know how girls really worked. Yet as she exclaimed her role as Ravenclaw Prefect and date with Ben Eckenrode, a confused expression crossed his features. What was a prefect? What was she going to do now? Who was Ben Eckenrode? He didn't know how to exactly feel about it, yet he sat himself down once he got the greenlight from Bloom.
It was an awfully loud statement and he couldn't exactly help but listen to it. He hoped she didn't suddenly dislike him, he was still fond of Bloom anyway. The thought of being replaced made him want to sink into his chair. His movement was a little rigid, careful as if he was about to sit on a mine about to blow.
Both his hands were atop of the table as he sat, listening quietly to what Felicity was saying. His hands were a little clammy and he was gently tapping his fingertips against the surface, a nervous tick that seemingly surfaced. It was the accompanied by his slightly tilted head and gaze towards the other side.
He didn't know what to say but he knew exactly what this was about. Whoever orchestrated such a thing was beyond him though. Yet it made him feel like a corner animal, was he supposed to do something? Maybe he was supposed to say something?
As he was about to apologize, he was snapped back to attention by the beckoning of Felicity. "S-sure." he replied, slowly pushing himself off the seat. As Felicity looked at the shelves, Reid had paused to finally look over at the Ravenclaw girl.
The next string came out a little more jumbled and skewed than he would hope, "Hey Bloom, I - - ... congratulations on becoming Prefect and - - yeah, I'm glad to hear that and I uh ... hope it all goes well." He had left his things on the table, making his way around it towards the shelves. As he left the table, his knuckles slightly dragged across the surface in a more sluggish fashion. What was he looking for again?
The dreams! Right, well - what books would that be about? His brows cocked up as he remembered the mention of 'dreams that could predict the future' by the Gryffindor girl Sophia. She had books all about Divination in her possession. He brushed his chin, his other hand on his hip as he thought of the titles she had. "Hey Felicity ..." he spoke to get her attention.
Reid didn't want the librarian to yell at them. The boy scratched his forearm as he tried to remember her name exactly. "I met this Gryffindor girl named Sophia Montgomery near the uh - ... Restricted Section a few days ago. She had a stack of Divination books with her in tow, maybe she can help give you more information too." Reid didn't know why he added the fact that he was near the Restricted Section, although he hoped she wouldn't press that matter too much. It was something he swore to keep under lock and key. Thinking about it now made the boy a little queasy.
"Trouble usually finds me."

Felicity's reaction was one she never thought she would receive. It seemed that she was a bit off about her story with her going out on a date with Ben. Real or not, wouldn't she be super happy for me? Why is she acting so weird? She asked herself, wondering if she had made a mistake.
Bloom's heartbeat was still beating fast, but it was a bit more consistent. Felicity had wanted them to find some information on her dreams, which was what they had planned on doing originally-- just the two of them. Bloom smiled at Felicity as the blonde Ravenclaw got up to check the books. She was now officially left behind with Reid.
The sound of him saying her name made Bloom melt. The last time he said her name was right before a rejection. This time, it was to congratulate her. She noticed that he did not mention anything about Ben. Perhaps he did not care? I guess he really doesn't like me, she thought.
"Thanks, Reid," she said, with a smile. "I better not see you during after hours!" she joked, providing a soft giggle at the end. Was that even funny? She asked herself, and Bloom made her way to a book shelf closest to Felicity, further enough away from Reid. She began to look book-by-book, finding something that would come up. She then looked towards Felicity.
"Felicity, I wish I knew he was coming. Also, should I have not said that?" she asked in a whisper to the Ravenclaw. Bloom had wanted to keep talking to Felicity when they were interrupted by Reid's story of a Gryffindor girl and the restricted section. Bloom wondered when he went to the restricted section. Perhaps he hadn't thought of her and went on a lot more adventures when they were not talking.
"That sounds like a great idea, Reid," she said, looking at him. You know else is a great idea? Us being friends again..., she added in her mind. But she had no idea how to go about it all. Perhaps she ruined it (yet again) by mentioning Ben.

There were too many books. Honestly, there were. She would never be able to look through them all - let alone the books on the shelves she can't reach - or read from this angle. She looked over at Bloom, who had come near her once again, and a smile came across her face, "Well, we did mention inviting him last night at the Quidditch Pitch," She pointed out.
As for if Bloom should have said what she did? Well, that depended heavily on the intent of it. Didn't she have a crush on Reid? Felicity was supportive, of course, regardless of who it was that her friend was crushing on. She just kind of feared for the awkwardness, and Reid's own feelings. What if he did have feelings for Bloom? She pulled out another book of Divination from the shelf, adding it to her small collection that was forming between her arm and chest.
"I don't know, was it true?" She asked pointedly, Reid joining them almost immediately afterwards. She looked over at him, considering the idea, pursing her lips. She nodded her head, slowly, agreeing. "Yeah, that would be a great idea. Maybe we can go talk to her after if we don't find anything here?" She offered, walking past them back to the table where her robe, Bloom's book, and Reid's things were still sitting, placing the books down on the table. She was a pretty good speed reader for her age - she could finish a book in a day if she tried hard enough. She hoped that she would be able to find things here, and Bloom and Reid would be able to fix their friendship while they were at it.
She sat down back in her spot, taking the first one off of her small pile. Hopefully the other two were able to find some helpful resources as well. She opened the book to the first page, taking in the old inscription carefully, sighing a little bit. Some pieces were more faded than the others, and the pages were a bit water logged. This is what you get for going through the older books. They're pretty aged. Felicity just prayed that all it was water logging the pages was just that - water. She went through the text - finding only tea reading explanations and philosophies in the first page. What a bother - the books didn't even want to cooperate.
She flipped through now, catching only bits and pieces of each page, searching for something in particular: dreams where you can see the future. She didn't know why she specifically thought the future, but, well, she most definitely didn't look like she was how she looks now! She must have been at least in fifth year, or older. She was definitely a teenager, and still in Hogwarts, because she was wearing her Ravenclaw tie, with her white button-up and a grey sweater pullover with the Ravenclaw crest on it. She had not graduated yet. What did this dream mean, even? The Adventure Club could be searching for nothing. It could have just been a fluke - but it didn't feel like one.

A Researchable Adventure
The tight expression on his features lifted a little as a result of Bloom's responses. As his back was turned to them, the smallest of smile appeared on his features. At least she was still talking to him, he was afraid all she was going to do this whole session was not speak to him. If that had been the case, there was no telling how long he would have chosen to stay. There was that creeping awkwardness he wasn't sure he would be able to handle. Discomfort was not a foreign friend, but even friends tend to wear on someone's patience.
He bided his time with looking at books, yet he often had an ear on the two. Albeit he wasn't even able to hear anything. Reid continued to look at the spines of the book, his eyes glued on the titles, "I think that might be worth a shot." He carefully pulled a book out, some of the books seemed to almost want to fall apart, yet it held together even as he held it. "Muggle and Cards: A History of Play and Fortune." he mumbled, opening it. The boy pulled the reading glasses that hung from his shirt and let it unfold. He sat it upon his face, pushing it up the bridge of his nose as he skimmed the table of contents.
It only detailed the relationship that muggles had with a very 'archaic' form of divination it seemed, tarots and palm readings. Reading some of the text now made him see the way that the wizarding world saw the muggle world. It was two different societies, anything seemed to happen here. He stood there, looking blankly at the book before abruptly closing it with some gentleness at the end. Reid went back to looking for books, thinking about anything he could offer to the two of them.
Dreams were just dreams to him, but it seemed there could be something entirely different to her. His fingertips brushed the spine of each book, eyeing them with a hawk's gaze. Reid pulled out his wand and softly spoke, "Lumos." The tip of his wand lit up, helping him see a little better in the darker parts of the shelves. Every now and then, he'd glance to see what the girls were doing. He would shortly return to what he was up to.
If there was anything he didn't mind, it was searching. Reid was able to engross himself into looking for something that it would be almost near impossible to detach him from the activity. 'Carnivora: The Devil's Snare', 'The Manifesto of Percival Moss', 'The Origins of Muggle Fortunetelling' - Reid stopped. He carefully pulled it out the book of Muggle fortunetelling and clamped his lit wand between his teeth. The sound of gentle page turning came from him, his eyes scouring the pages for any possible trace of divination.
There seemed to be something of it in the book, but it was a very 'muggle' thing. Reid carefully closed the book and let the light from the end of his wand to fade. The Hufflepuff made his way back towards their table, setting the book down not too far from Felicity. "I found a book on fortunetelling that uh - muggles used through the centuries. It might not be the same, but maybe it has something similar to what you guys call Divination." he spoke, setting his wand down on the table.
It had been a book that included the very first recordings of fortune telling, gypsies included. He found it hard to call non-magic folk muggles, because he thought of himself as one not too long ago. His hands slipped themselves in the pockets of his trousers, watching the two Ravenclaw girls do their research.

"Trouble usually finds me."

A Researchable Adventure
Bloom froze. Did they talk about inviting Reid to their get together today? Bloom shrugged it off. Perhaps she had just forgotten. She did have a late night with Ben, getting to know each other. Perhaps the thought of Reid slowly disappeared. Bloom began to keep looking at the shelves. She decided to walk past Reid, slightly brushing her arm against his, and make her way towards the utmost corner of the library where there were more old books.
What is it that she has... Dreams... Visions..., she wondered, wanting to help Felicity understand herself. Bloom looked through the books and found a couple that seemed to be a bit dusty, but useful. One was related to ancient careers while the other book was solely on dream interpretations. She pulled the books out of their cobwebbed shelving and carried them against her waist. These are heavy, she thought.
Bloom, about to go back, saw a book deep in the shelves. It was placed different than the other books. It had a strange eye on the cover. She wanted to grab the book, but she was already carrying two really old ones. She walked quickly over to their table, set the books down, and then quickly walked back. She reached over to where the book was and all of a sudden it wasn't there; it was empty.
"WHAT?" she said a bit too loudly and some of the students who were studying looked up at her. "Sorry...," she said, sheepishly. Bloom took a step back and looked at the shelves and really saw that there was nothing there. She could have sworn that she saw something. She then went to Reid and Felicity. "Guys, the was this book and it had an eye on it and I went to put these books down," she pointed, "so I could get it and then it disappeared...," she finished, still a little freaked out. What kind of book was it? Was it a book that would have benefited Felicity?
