"Let's see...It should be around here somewhere....Ah, found it."

The young Gryffindor wandered around, her right hand was brought up to brush a small strand of her black raven hair behind her ear for a clearer view. Orchird eyes laid upon the gold title on the back of the encyclopedia, Potions from A to Z. Taking it out from its shelf and holding it carefully in her hands, Regina walked back to her seat at the wooden table, pages of parchment scattered across the surface along with some other books related to the subject, a small bottle of black ink and a quill made out of a bordeaux phoenix feather.

She had to get this Potions homework done by tonight, the deadline was already for tomorrow. Fortunately, Regina was the best at the course so she didn't have too much of a trouble. She predicted to finish this in no less than 15 minutes, then she'd move on to the Herbology essay...

Ugh, why should there even be an essay when all we do is learn to grow some plants?

The Gryffindor sighed, rubbing her temples to compose her mind before opening the encyclopedia, dipping the quill in the ink and began answering the last of the questions. Her writing was majestic and neat, something that had always caught the eyes of the Professors as a touch of her noble background and personality.

Suddenly, the serenity silence was disturbed as another student walked tiredly through the entrance, causing Regina's eyes to snap up in annoyance. However she soon regconized the face and called out in surprise.

"Jessica?"

Jessica staggered into the library, clutching her Charms and DADA book tightly. Her lips were parted slightly, her eyes half closed. She vaguely had an idea of where she was, but she knew that her goal was to study, study like she basically every minute of the day. What fun is this? I haven't done anything interesting at all, except learn about dragon anatomy. Is this a mirror of the rest of my six years here? She rubbed her eyes groggily, looking around for somewhere to sit, or sleep.

Then she heard her name. The voice sounded very familiar, but not like a relatives. Then she caught sight of raven hair and orchid eyes. Jessica's eyes widened slightly but she was still quite exhausted. "Hey, Regina," she yawned, dropping her books onto the table and flopping into a seat across from her friend. She rested her chin in her hand and for a moment she had started to fall asleep but then the outburst of laughter from a nearby table woke her up. "What - I'm here -" Then she caught sight of Regina. "Oh, pardon me, sleep hasn't been on my side for the past few days..."

Jessica flipped a book open and glanced first at her book and then at Regina's writing. She sat up straighter in her seat and looked closer. "Wow, your handwriting is brilliant, it's almost like a machine wrote it. You're very talented." She pulled out some of her own work to show Regina wearily. "My writing isn't exactly satisfactory on any scale, it's sort of...sloppy." It came from her inner artist, the one that cared more about drawing that how she wrote her letters, but she always envied other people's beautiful handwriting, like her mother and her grandmother.

"How did you learn to write so well?"

I never lose. Either I win or I learn.

"Oh...Well, since my family is all about prestige and prominence, I was trained with the utmost solemnity to write with perfection, just like my older siblings. Our preceptor molded our handwritings by making us copy at least 10 pages a day from any book when we started to know how to write."

Regina knew it might sound shocking to someone like Jessica, however in the high society of wizards, it was actually one of the ways to strictly shape children into young but diligent and honorable nobles. However, it was frankly quite aggravating considering that she hated being controled, but since little Regina knew she had to live up to her parents highest expectations in order to not be shunned away by the shadow her siblings casted on her, albeit unintentionally.

Besides, it was for a good cause. After all, they often said "the calligraphy reveals one's true personality.". She was, indeed, a dignified witch, if you knew her good enough. staying true to her handwriting.

Opting to reassure Jessica, her new and only friend, Regina shot the tired Ravenclaw the nicest smile she could muster. It was faint and seemed forced, however the Gryffindor was still unfamiliar to this so-called "companionship" that she had always looked down upon (believing it was superficial and unembellished) and she knew Jessica was kind-hearted enough to help her adapt.

"Your scription is fine, I can see the a very unique and authentic artistic touch to it. Everyone has their own way of writing. But that's a discussion for another moment. It seems you remember my words back at the Hogwarts Express; it doesn't seem like you would come to a quiet and isolated place like the Library. Did you need my help?"

Another positive outcome of encountering Jessica was that she could felt herself learning to be more communicatve, even if it was only in the said Ravenclaw's presence. As much as she didn't want to admit, Regina might just have found the first person who was trying her best to climb up the unbreakable wall Regina built around her heart to prevent herself from any sort of emotional damage.

I shouldn't get used to this...I can;t have anything that prove to be a hindrance to my goal. Although, Jessica may be an exception, after all, we both have the same ambition.

"Whoa, I'm almost jealous! But I guess anybody would be jealous of good outcomes rather than the work put into achieving them. My mother was hard on us, but she wasnt anywhere close to that...not that I'm judging. I respect the nobles." She lowered her voice to a whisper. "Even though I barely know any, but let's just keep that between us." Jessica chuckled and ran her fingers over her handwriting. To be honest, she didn't really care about her calligraphy, but she wished she could have something else in common WITH Regina. She felt that maybe they could become really close friends.

She thanked her for the compliment about her handwriting and then began daydreaming for a moment, out of fatigue, but then she came back just to hear the end of whatever Regina had been going on about. "Oh, um, I'd actually thought this place would be pretty crowded, from what I've heard. I see dozens of students come by here all the time, but I guess the vibe grew stale. But I don't mind the quiet, at some points. If it gets too quiet - I fear that I may fall asleep. But I trust that you'd wake me up."

Jessica twirled a few strands of her around her pinky, wrapping it until her skin began to turn purple. Then, when the pain grew a little to high, she unraveled it and sighed. " Actually, I do need you, now that I think of it. Earlier I had come here and met a few girls, a fellow Ravenclaw and a Hufflepuff. I was just studying and then I overheard them talk about occupations. The Ravenclaw - I believe her name was Luna? - told me about three ones she really knew of, Aurora, who're like the police force, Curse-Breakers, and Wand Makers. She said that there are probably books around here I could look at but I favor your opinions, especially since you're a Pure-blood. Do you know any others?"

"Well, there exists a quite vaste of employments in the Wizarding World, and as far as I'm concerned, they all depend on your level of magical potential and knowledge for each domain of magic." Regina spoke industriously, as though she was a consultee conversating with a client who sought for an advice, all the while multi-tasking by writing down the ingredients and recipes of specific concoctions in her Potions homework, her orchird eyes glacing back and forth between the books and her parchment.

Needless to say, it was a discussion subject that Regina was surprisingly insightful of, taken that her family's bloodline consisted of well-known wizards who contributed a lot for the magic realm.

"Most wizards and witches with high levels of magical potentials can mostly be seen working for the Ministry, or even as Professors of magic schools such as Dumstrang, Beauxbatons and our beloved Hogwarts. However, like I said, there are different positions for wizards of different status and skills.

Regina rolled her finished Potions homework neatly and carefully setting it aside, moving on to her Herbology one. Holding back a fustrated sigh, the Gryffindor took out a new set of parchments and dipping her favourite phoenix quill in the black ink before writting down her name, House and year at the top of the paper. She only paused for a moment to switch from the recent Potions encyclopedia to the one full of informations on all sorts of magical plants and flowers. No need for the Unforgivable Curse to kill her, the boredom to come would already knock the life out of her.

"For example," The witch raised her voice just a bit louder at the sight of her companion dozing off. "My parents are very powerful Aurors. They are pretty well-known in the job, mostly because of their noble bloodline and of course, their incredible magic potentials. Aurors fight to defend against the Dark Arts and put criminals into Azbakan, so you could say it's a quite dangerous employment. But it's what I'm aiming for, if I become an Auror just like them, I could prove my self-worth and power to everyone else. You can also aim for being a Potioneer and create exceptional concoctions that can even cheat Death. Dragon-handler is also quite interesting too, if you have a knack for taking care of and training fantastic beasts."
