His mum and dad had told him stories of the place, his grandparents on both sides knew it fondly as well. It was a safe haven and a place where you could get lost if you were not careful.
He did not know where to start, should he look for texts over the supposed Magical Theories of the Middle Ages, instrumental manuals for magical musical equipment, or perhaps Grimoire’s...that was it, the texts of mages throughout the years. He scanned the library’s seemingly endless shelves for one “The Book Of Oberon”It was a downright monster of a text on summonings, magical theory, charms, and spells...bloody hell the spells that the mages used back in the beginning were complicated from what he scanned over, thankfully they did not stay that way. He had only seen a copy before in his grandfathers shop back in Manchester, Of course it was only pieces so he could not gather much, hopefully this would fair better.
Upon coming up empty in his search he managed to pull aside an older student browsing the library as he asked where to find the tome he was in search of, surprisingly the peer knew a general location of the text and told Zach where to find it.
The air grew just a tad bit more musty the farther he went in search for the Grimoire, but he soon found the section. It was fascinating here, there were entire volumes of which he was looking for when it came to the ancient magical theorem, beliefs and even some guides into early divination work. It was marvelous to see that even originals were kept here as well, so it was not long before Zach found the Grimoire he was searching for. He snatched it quickly and retreated over to the window where he sat down, crossing his legs as he unfastened the brass latch that held the Grimoire closed. Once opened he scanned the first page and to his surprise there were only a select few that ever borrowed the book, so he dove in without really having a goal.
The page he found himself in contained a talisman designed to ward against evil, most notably, witchcraft. He scoffed as he read it, but he had to admit, it was fascinating to say the least. It even included directions in the instance someone decided to create the talisman;
“The talisman and the ring will serve you to recognise what the infernal powers wish to undertake, and you can abort all their projects by placing the talisman on your chest and the ring on the first joint of the little finger of the left hand. You pronounce these words: Actatos, Catipta, Bejouran, Itapan, Marnutus”
Of course the piece he read was also an excerpt, in reference to the 22nd Talisman in ”The Black Pullet”.
All of this of course was just extracurricular reading, a habit of his to help him calm down when his anxiety grew high enough to warrant a breakdown. It also helped him in the way that he always worried about his family since his father was like a wild dragon when it came to his job...sometimes the job came home with him too. He sat there and continued to read for three hours as he read through various other spells and writings that would help to avoid dangerous situations.
