Magical Creatures
The library was the home to some of the oldest and rarest books that held an endless range of information on all possible subjects. The tall, brown wooded bookcases hovered over Aurora as she walked beside them, tracing the spines of every book she passed. The natural light that entered through the windows helped her read the titles and author names of the books that attracted her attention. She was in search for a particular book, and her eyes scanned the shelves carefully in search for it.
Carefree, she strolled past the books on charms and muggle studies. Finally, her feet stopped and she stood still, admiring the entire section that held every book imaginable on magical creatures. With her grandmother being a magizoologist, she had grown up with every story of every magical creature her grandmother had ever encountered, studied, or heard of. It was practically in her blood to be interested in the subject, and now that she had access to the Hogwarts Library, she thought it was better to take advantage of the opportunity and learn as much as she could.
Each book had a different cover, with contrasting shades of green, blue and brown and either gold or black lettering to emphasize the titles. Aurora picked the first book she saw, opened it, and began immediately reading the first chapter. The words flooded her brain, and she could feel the world around her getting smaller as she focused more intensely on the contents of the book. Just as she thought nothing could distract her, she heard someone's footsteps approaching her, and she looked up from her book, curious to see who this person might be.

Magical Creatures
Books, books, books. The Library was definitely proving one of Molly's favourite places, she'd taken to spending most of her evenings amongst the books. Most of it was of course was to help her understand what her Professors had taught her that days or to help her complete her homework, but she had also started to allow herself to pick up books that weren't necessarily related to her current classes.Interacting with @Aurora Vaughn
The section of the Library that had been attracting her more and more recently was the magical creatures section. Molly had always loved animals and as soon as her father had explained about Hogwarts and the different subjects that you get to study she had been most excited for Herbology, because of her love of plants and care of magical creatures. Molly had been so disappointed when she was informed that she wouldn't get to study magical creatures until her third year.
Molly had already been in the Library for a little while and she'd removed three books from the shelves already to assist her with her potions and charms homework. She looked down at the top book in her small pile 'Magical ingredients and their purposes in potion making' and Molly remembered that in class the uses of unicorn horn had been discussed. She had a sudden desire to learn more about unicorns, she knew they were considered one of the rarest and most beautiful creatures in the magical world. Plus if you thought about it logically it would help her understand potions better if she knew more about the creature. Or at least that was how Molly justified it to herself as she made her way to the magical creatures section rather that sitting down at the one of the small desks and beginning her assignment.
Precariously balancing the other three books in her arms she walked swiftly. Molly was marvelling at the books around her when she nearly walked straight into another student. She noticed the girl in the scarlet robes looking in her direction just in time to bring herself to a complete stop. As her momentum stopped Molly swayed a little, her body threatening to loose balance. She only just managed to stop herself from falling over and dropping the books everywhere. "I'm s-sorry" she stammered looking at the Gryffindor girl "I didn't mean to nearly walk into you....Was I walking too loudly?" she asked trying to understand what Molly had done to cause the girl to be looking directly at her.
She briefly looked over her shoulder to make sure she hadn't accidently walked in between a conversation whilst she'd been lost in her own thoughts. There was no one else there. "I didn't mean to distract or interrupt you or anything.". Molly had a habit of always assuming she had done something wrong or was a nuissance which often led to her pointlessly apologising for everything, even if there was nothing to apologise for.

A girl with dark hair and yellow robes was standing right in front of Aurora, tightly holding a few books like she was afraid she would drop them. The girl looked wide-eyed at Aurora, and asked if she had been walking too loudly, and politely apologized for disrupting Aurora as she was reading. "No it's fine, there's no need to apologize. I just don't see many people in this section, that's all." Aurora said reassuringly. She didn't want the girl to feel bad, and Aurora had hoped that she was also in search for a book on magical creatures.
"Are you looking for anything in particular about magical creatures, or just browsing?" Aurora questioned. She closed the book she was previously reading, and stared up at the rows of stacked books. The books ranged from creatures in the water, such as merpeople, to creatures in the dark forest, like thestrals. Aurora had a peculiar interest with creatures from the dark forest, and wanted to know so much more about their characteristics and habits, so she slyly picked up the book and put it on top of the other she had been holding. She was going to read it later, but for now, she wanted to help the other girl with her search.

Molly relaxed a little as the other girl reassured her that she hadn't done anything to interrupt her and that she hadn't been walking too loudly. "I try to avoid this section because I know that it will distract me too much." she admitted smiling lightly as she thought about all the wonderful creatures that the books around her held.
When the gryffindor girl asked if Molly was looking for anything specific she nodded and then shrugged slightly. "It's not really relevant to my homework or anything.... which I should be doing..". Molly paused having an internal struggle about whether she should just say goodbye and get on with her assignments, that's what her head was saying, or whether she should follow her heart and learn more about unicorns.
It took her a moment to decide that she would go with her plan and select a book about unicorns. Molly realised that she had been quiet for a few seconds whilst the other girl was looking around the shelves. The silence felt slightly awkward for a moment but then she shook her head lightly. "Sorry got a little lost in my thoughts" she mumbled before continuing "We were learning about unicorn horns in potions and I thought I could maybe learn a bit more about unicorns in general, it's kind of related..... or at least that's what I'm telling myself."
Molly moved forward and started to look at the shelves a little closer to read the book titles. "The truth is that I love animals, and magical creatures fascinate me. I thought the potions lesson was a good excuse to actually visit this section even though I don't have a true reason to. I can't wait to study care of magical creatures and you know..." Molly realised she was rambling at this poor gryffindor girl who she didn't know. "I'm Molly by the way, first year." She offered her library friend a friendly smile as she ran her fingers across the spine of a large black book with gold lettering.

"I completely understand the need to find out more Molly. I've used that same excuse once or twice myself. I'm Aurora, a first year like you." Aurora admired the girl's enthusiasm for magical creatures, and felt they were quite similar in their passion for the particular subject. She could tell when the girl started talking endlessly that she really was a nerd for this kind of stuff, just like Aurora. "I love animals too, sometimes even more than people." Aurora explained. "I don't know why, but they just seem to understand me better than anyone else I know. And the bond between a human and animal is truly treasurable, and something so many people take for granted." Aurora rambled. "I hope that made some sense." Aurora chuckled and smiled. She was excited to share her passion with someone else who could understand, and she found it so easy to talk to the girl she had only just met a couple minutes ago.
Molly mentioned that she was in search of more knowledge about unicorns, and she pulled a large black book with gold lettering off the shelf and held it in her hand. Aurora loved the majestic unicorns that roamed the European forests, and found them to be one of the most beautiful and gentle magical creatures."Did you know that unicorns are fast enough to outrun a werewolf?" Aurora stated. She had all of this random knowledge in her head, which she had mostly gained from her grandmother's stories, and sometimes random facts would just splurge out of her mouth. "I've always wanted to see a unicorn myself, haven't you?"

Molly couldn't help but nod along as Aurora explained her affinity with animals more than humans. It was something that Molly had often felt herself as well. Granted she had only been around dogs, cats and horses in her short life time so far but there was something so welcoming about animals. They never seemed to judge you. Molly had held full conversations with her family dog before and although some people might find it strange, and she wasn't sure it was something she would confess to out loud, she felt that the dog, or any animal for that matter completely understood what she was saying. "It made perfect sense" Molly said to Aurora after she had gabbled her feelings about animals. "It's really nice to meet you Aurora, and I like the way you think."Interacting with @Aurora Vaughn
Molly placed her other books down on a vacant table a few steps from where the two girls were speaking so that she could look inside the black book that she had removed from the shelf and look at the wonderful creatures maintained inside it's pages. "I had no idea, that's really interesting but I suppose unicorns aren't really equipped to fight a werewolf so would need a quick get away. Molly mused after Aurora shared her fun fact about unicorns. "I would love to see a unicorn" Molly exclaimed thinking about it in her minds eye. "I know that we live in a magical world but I imagine that seeing a unicorn would be the most magical thing ever, not to mention truly breath-taking.".
Whilst thinking about unicorns though Molly remembered something that she had heard about how rare unicorns in the wild were "I doubt I'll ever be that lucky though" she said thinking out loud more than anything. "I've heard that most wizards and witches go their whole lives without seeing one." For some inexplicable reason this filled Molly with an intense feeling of sadness but she shook it off looking at Aurora again. "I don't know much about magical creatures to be honest, you seem to know a lot though, did you learn everything you know since being here at Hogwarts?" Molly asked wanting to get to know Aurora a little bit better.

Aurora could sense an easiness about the conversation, how her thoughts just came flowing out of her mouth without Aurora having to fully think them through. And the best part was, that Molly seemed to understand the way Aurora thought. Her passion for animals was finally something she could share, and this excitement began to fill her.
"Unfortunately, we don't learn anything about magical creatures until Year 3, which I think is totally unfair." Aurora exclaimed. She couldn't wrap her head around the idea that she had to wait two more years until she would be able to explore one of her favorite subjects. All the extra reading she did instead of focusing on her studies would finally provide her some use, and she anticipated for future.
"I learned quite a bit about magical creatures and their habitats from reading books, but mostly from my grandmother. She was a magizoologist, so she studied magical creatures intensely. When my brothers and I were younger, she would tell us bedtime stories about the wonderful creatures that roamed the world." Aurora thought back to these childhood memories, and nostalgia began to fill her, a sudden wave pulling her back to reminisce her childhood bedroom. Her early years was when her passion first blossomed, and she would beg her grandmother to tell her more about dragons and ghouls. She ached to tell her muggle classmates at school about these fantastic beasts, but her grandmother always told her it was a family secret that she had to keep.
Aurora's curiosity began to run towards the girl who was standing before her. She moved next to her to look alongside her into the contents of the black book in which she had placed on the table. "What's your favorite magical creature? I know it's impossible to pick just one, but if you had to." Aurora had never been able to answer this question successfully when people had asked her because she would always change her mind, and so she wondered what the girl would respond.

Molly nodded when Aurora mentioned that they didn't get to study magical creatures until their third year. When she had discovered this Molly had been extremely disappointed. She wished that she could study them now, although she was learning some things about the creatures during other lessons. "I know, I'm not sure why we have to wait until third year." Molly shrugged, "Perhaps it's a safety issue or something, I've heard that some of the creatures can be quite dangerous. It is unfair though."
Molly listened as Aurora explained how she had learned so much about magical creatures. She couldn't help but wonder where Aurora found the time amongst all of the extra reading and homework that they were assigned during their classes. When Aurora mentioned her grandmother Molly couldn't help but feel a little bit of jealousy "Oh wow a Magizoologist? That sounds so exciting I bet she had the most amazing stories.". Molly found herself being drawn into the conversation with Aurora so much that she had all but forgotten about the reason she'd come to the library in the first place. She was starting to feel quite comfortable and less shy around Aurora. "I don't know what I want to be when I leave Hogwarts but a Magizoologist is definitely on my list of possibilities." she mused out loud.
When Aurora asked about Molly's favourite magical creature she hesitated for a moment. The truth was that Molly didn't know all that much about magical creatures, she knew of a few but she hadn't done that much reasearch about them yet. Although it was something that she strived to have more knowledge of she hadn't really had the opportunity. She had limited knowledge based on the information she had learned in class so far and a few things she'd come across whilst reading.
"Well I don't really know many..." Molly admitted to Aurora "I did read about Nifflers though and they look rather cute and handy although I did read that they can be a little chaotic and out of control but I'd love to see one." She thought for another minute "I'd also love to see a hippogriff, I've heard that they're really majestic animals but they get a bad reputation from some. How about you? What was the most exciting story that you remember your grandmother telling you? She hoped that Aurora didn't mind her asking about the stories she heard from her grandmother.

As the conversation flowed between Aurora and Molly, a sense of comfort between the two began to ease. They were talking as if they had been friends for ages, and Aurora had never felt this with anyone before. She was quite a distant girl, someone who liked to keep to herself. But with Molly, all she wanted to do was talk. As Molly brought up nifflers and hippogriffs, Aurora nodded along in agreement. Both of these creatures were so unique in their nature, one being a small and the other being large. Molly returned the question about favorite magical creatures to Aurora, also asking more about her grandmother's stories.
"I remember my grandmother telling me about the time she went to Norway to further her study on dragons. She was figuring out if she wanted to branch her career into specializing in the study dragons and become a Dragonologist." Aurora started out the story that her grandmother had told her over breakfast just last year. "She was in one of the dragon reserves, studying a Norwegian Ridgeback who was protecting the black egg of its child. My grandmother kept her distance, but out of nowhere the mother spotted her and her protective instincts kicked in. She blasted fire straight at my grandmother, but luckily she wasn't harmed too badly. Everyone at work told her the dragon must've gone mad, attacking out of nowhere. But my grandmother never blamed the dragon. She understood what it was like to feel in danger and do anything to protect your own."
Yes, Aurora felt quite lucky to have her grandmother. Her time as a magizoologist was the greatest of her life, everyday being like an adventure. Aurora longed for this feeling, but she was still unsure if she would pursue a career with magical creatures, or if she would venture her future into another one of her interests.
Aurora was more than happy to share her stories with Molly, but felt bad that she was distracting her from the pile of homework that they had both probably forgotten about. "I have dozens of other stories, but I feel bad enough already being such a distraction to your homework." Aurora gestured to the books which Molly had brought with her to study. "We can sit down and actually get some work done, if you'd like?" She gestured to the empty chairs by the table.
