That morning, a gentle tapping against the window pane of her dormitory had stirred the fourth year awake. A large snowy white owl perched atop the window sill. No, this was not her great horned owl Aspen, yet the owner of the majestic creature was someone she was very much familiar with. Hadrian Zuhier, her one and only betrothed. Despite them being an entire continent apart, their own parents made sure the young couple made an effort to keep in contact. The exchanges of owls since then had been countless. However, even then, the fourteen year old was not sure what to make out of what their relationship had progressed into. This boy, Hadrian was supposed to be the love of her life, some one she was to wed in a few years time. But why had she the subtlest feeling of doubt that he wasn't?

There was not just a piece of paper Aurelia had found in the letter for it weight more than a single leaf of parchment would. A glimmer of gold would drop briskly onto her linen bedsheet as she opened the envelope. A small beautiful pendant dangling from an elegant chain. Aurelia inspected the object to notice that it had been imprinted with the intricate Zuheir Crest. Keep this Zuheir treasure safe, Tulip. Were the only 6 words she found on the envelop. The young girl would do just that, and soon, her neck adorned the priceless jewelry.

Aurelia did not think much about the lovely gifting as she spent her day. In the afternoon, she found herself in the library, once again checking on her trusty houself Eaux who received the applications for the spells wands and games club she had recently advertised. However, she did not expected to see the name of a particular person on the list, Lydia Cooper. In fact, she was more surprise to find the girl seated not too far away from where Eaux and her were standing.

Lydia Cooper, part veela and fellow girlfriend to the very person she abhorred, Rafael D'Spacito. Aurelia could not turn away and break her gaze from the girl's irresistible visage. There was always a pleasant feeling that came when she was in the vicinity of a veela, the alluring visage that caused a daze of flutters in her chest. This was exactly why she was dangerous. Of course, the girl wouldn't know, but Lydia had hurt her, she thought with way that the girl acted so comfortable with her that perhaps there was a spark of a friendship between them, but it turns out not. Because Aurelia didn't know how else to put it, Lydia had only used her. Just so she could get an easy fix on her hair during the ball then walked away, back into the arms of Rafael.

To say put it simply. Aurelia was quite agitated. How could someone possess such power just because of what was in their very genes. She didn't waste anymore time eyeing in wonder on the girl's phenotype as she approached the red head. Since the start of summer, something had changed inside her, she had built a defence mechanism, a permanent one, a very terrible aura. "Didn't like the blue I put in your hair, dear?" She asked, a light tinge of mock in her words. But without asking, her hand wandered around the girl's head and her slender fingers combed lightly through the girl's mesmerising silky locks of hair as she had during the ball last summer. "Tell me, veela, which is it? Are you using my club as an excuse to get closer to a particular someone or cast a spell at them?"

Time: afternoon
Day: September 4, 2020
Location: Library
A little meow coming from over her head had woken Lydia up that morning, slightly after 9 AM; she had slept in a little bit since the night before she had stayed up late reading a book. Mačka's blue eyes were staring right at her, and the moment they met hers the kitten decided to basically walk over the girl's face all the way down to her stomach, where he sat down and stared at her.

"What?" she asked as she sleepily rubbed her eyes; he most likely wanted some cuddles before going around the castle, so Lydia scratched his fluffy head for a little while, until when Mačka decided he had enough and jumped off the bed. The Hufflepuff girl observed her cat walk out of her dorm, a smile upon her face.

Hopefully that day would have been a good one.

Since there were no classes yet, Lydia spent some time down by the lake before lunch, and after that she headed towards the Library, the book from the night before safely tucked under her arm. It wasn't like she needed to study yet, but she had found the Common Room way too noisy lately, so to properly concentrate on her readings she decided to go to the best place she could think of.

Upon entering, she looked for a nice, quiet spot where she could read her book in peace and, once she had found it, she had completely immersed herself into the reading. The table she had chose faced a window, and from where she was sitting Lydia's eyes were free to wander all over the mountains and the Great Lake. Everything was so peaceful around here, and a sense of calm pervaded her.

If that was how the whole year would have been, then Lydia would have been the happiest person on the Earth.

But of course, troubles didn't wait too long before arriving.

Despite the temperature being quite pleasant, Lydia's entire body shivered all of a sudden. Did someone maybe leave a window open? Or had they accidentally casted a spell that would make the temperature drop? These kind of thought went through her head as she adjusted her skirt; that day she was wearing a black skirt with a cherry pattern on top, together with a grey top and her usual black Vans, nothing too complicated or fancy; her hair were longer than the year before, and she had left them down, free to descend down her back.

"Didn't like the blue I put in your hair, dear?"

Aurelia's familiar voice reached her ears, and Lydia immediately sat up straighter on the chair, her body slightly tense. The Gryffindor girl's voice sounded almost as if she was mocking her, her hand now in her hair. This time Lydia properly shivered, moving her head so she could look at Aurelia and get rid of her touch.

The older girl looked like her usual self, but this time something felt... different. Lydia still found herself getting easily distracted by her, and for a second she had forgotten what the girl had done; however, her next words made her widen her eyes, the surprise written all over her face, as her heartbeat quickened.

How could Aurelia know about her Veela heritage? And what was she even talking about? The surprise got replaced by a small frown as Lydia positioned herself better on the chair.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," she said crossing her arms over her chest. "I joined the club because it sounds interesting, and because I want to spend time outside and meet new people. Certainly not because of the reasons you just said," her voice was slightly tense, mimicking the tension of her body. "How- How do you know about the... Veela thing?" Lydia almost whispered the last part, her eyes still focused on Aurelia. She hadn't talked with her since the Ball, and their last encounter didn't necessarily end in the best of ways, so Lydia was slightly worried by the close proximity of the older girl, a feeling of unease deep inside of her.

Upon noticing that Lydia flinched away as she fondled with her hair, Aurelia would let those pretty red lock of hair slip through her finger tips. The girl before her portrayed noticeable signs of discomfort, unlike in the ball when she had approached her for help when she was met with some complications with her hairdo. Her eyebrows would furrow ever so slightly, for a short moment, a glimpse of concern would flash across her own lovely visage. The pretty red-head had been comfortable with her during the ball, however, now her body language would portray the total opposite. Why?

Nevertheless, Aurelia would draw a chair out and take a seat right next to Lydia so that they might finally have a proper conversation. Lydia would deny what the fourth year had implied, instead explaining that she had only joined the club for games and company. "A certain boy. Hispanic, quidditch captain, good looking, with an ego too big for him? Sounds familiar? That is who I am talking about. He is in the club too, but whatever you say." She said, with a chuckle but what the Gryffindor was getting at was to draw a reaction from the Hufflepuff that might further serve as proof for her statement.

However, Lydia would try to change the topic with a question that the former monster hunter did not hesitate to answer with much honesty, "simple: that." Her slender hand would dance in front of the second year's face as a gesture. "And, mostly, the way you make me feel, Miss Cooper. Veela are known for their charm, it usually always present, like an Aura and I know when I'm under the influence of one. As weird as it sounds, it quite hard to look away." Aurelia would explain, it was not easy to discern how she felt whenever she was in the vicinity of a veela, but it certainly was not a negative one, unlike the presence of certain older dhampirs.

"Now Lydia, don't try to divert the topic. I want to apologise. I really should not have put a wrench into your relationship with D'Spacito when you were out to have a good time at the ball." Her words were truthful. An exchange of owls with a very unhappy D'Spacito not too long after the event of the disastrous boy had lead Aurelia to sympathise, not for the arrogant boy but with Lydia. Especially now that she had her own affairs with Hadrian, Aurelia would never want anyone to put a wrench in her own relationship, not when her family was all counting on her to make the unity of both families possible.

Although Aurelia was betrothed, there were rules with the arrangement, sure.
